MSI MS-6712 KT4 Motherboard - Xp install problems! Help!

Question

Ok, I bought the following motherboard kit:

I had to buy a new psu for it (I'll post the amps later), although this was the psu the shop recommended.
Anyway, I have been able to install xp pro before and it worked fine for a little while but when I installed a game it all went pair sharped. When I booted the system I was just getting a blinking cursor, it was going through post but not booting to OS.
So, I figured a re-install... That was a month ago and I'm still trying.
Somedays it goes through to copying the files and others I can't even get into the setup before I get the BSOD.
I've had various different messages including:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA
IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL
Plus others that I can't remember, but those two are the most common.
MS and other forums lead me to believe its a ram problem, however the place I bought it from has tested the board and found no faults.
System Spec:

Seagate 30GB
IBM/Hitachi 120GB
nVidia TnT2 32MB Graphics Card
Creative Labs PC-DVD
Sony CD-RW
PSU is 400w but as I said I don't know the amps at the moment.
I've tried disabled BIOS caching and Shadowing in the BIOS and this seemed to semi-work for a bit but no longer had I got XP installed than I got the BSOD's again.
I'm really stuck on this one and any help will be brilliant!
P.S. The D brackets says nothing - 4 green lights.
And I've tried resetting the CMOS several times with no joy.
Is it anything to do with the Graphic Card? Perhaps an AGP MSI Graphics Card might be better? I don't really want to spend much more money on it unless I know it's gonna do the job.

I tried installing xp pro with the Graphics Card in each PCI slot. And I also tried it with a really old 4MB ATI Rage PCI graphics card but no joy with any slot. Although I think slot 5 and 6 let me get the furthest, actually copying the xp files before it blue screened again. I haven't tried the ATI Rage in slots 2-6 which I'll give a go this afternoon but I don't think that's gonna make a difference.
The DVD-ROM is on IDE-1 and jumpered as the master.
The 30GB HD is on IDE-0 and also jumpered as the master.
In the BIOS they register as the secondary master and primary master respectively.
I've got the 30GB HD partitioned into two 15GB with win 98SE on the first and I want to put xp pro on the second but if you guys think this might be causing a bit of a problem, or I'm trying to run before I can walk so to speak, then I can just try to install it on the 120GB HD (which is partitioned into 4 30GB's)?
Thing is I've only got win 98SE on there cause xp pro won't install. But, even the 98 install is crappy, I have to use the window backup facility to back the system up before I try to install anything (managed to get the Creative Graphics Card s/w installed after about 5 attempts), even the MainBoard drivers, because when the system reboots, 9/10 times it'll come up with a problem with the registry which the computer will sort out but will result in 98 going back to the basic install, no graphics card or mainboard drivers etc. I then need to recovery the system from the backup I made which means I go back to having to install the mainboard drivers again.
I do remember reading on win update that there is a patch for windows 95/98/ME which delays the O/S shutting down for about 2 seconds on faster machines otherwise the machine will power off before the O/S has finished writting things to the HD. Of course this could be my problem with win 98SE, however, not being able to install the drivers for the LAN, I can't get on the internet to run win update! It's abit of a pickle!
Anyway, my main concern is the xp pro installation problem. Sorry to ramble on.
