MSi MS-6747 OEM MOBO question

I realise this is an OEM board for Medion, and Medion supplied the computer system to PCWorld, so the support must be done by PC World, and if you know them you realise my problem getting information.
Anyway, there are 3 PCI slots, one blue amd two grey, and when I plug a board into either grey one the computer will not boot (4 beeps I think) but it works fine in the blue one.
Any ideas anyone ?
Thanks
Raymond

  • MSI-6312 gateway OEM mobo on the fritz

Ok, I did a search on the forum, and I found this thread that asked the same thing:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=16085&sid=&hilight=6312
unfortunatly, no one answered his post.
I have a Gateway OEM MSI 6312 board that won't recognise drives attached to the IDE controllers and won't recognise (USB only) keyboards or mice either.  Does anyone know of a way to smack this thing into submission, or is it a lost cause?

I'd love to, but the board won't recognise the keyboard or mouse, so I can't get into the BIOS.  Hmmmm, maybe I'll see if I can get ahold of a USB card and see if I can get it to work that way...
Oh, It won't detect anything connected to either connector, it says that the hard disk was not detected, then san error that ht cd-rom wasn't detected.  It gives the same errors for the keyboard and mouse as well.
If I connect the drives to a PCI IDE card then it'll boot, but I still have no keyboard or mouse.

  • P4e mobo questions...

A local store has got the MSi P4e Max 533fsb mobo in stock at an extremely good price and im looking to upgrade my existing P4 sdram rig to the MSi P4e... (i will be using 512mb Crucial 2100 DDR)
    My questions are...
    1. Can i use my P4 2.4b 533fsb with this mobo w/o the CPU bus overclocking the AGP and PCi? (in other words can i alter the FSB seperately from 400 to 533 without that overclocking the AGP or PCi?)
    2. Will my Radeon 8500 be guarenteed to work? i have no idea if it is a 1.5v... im hoping theres some people here that will have a R8500 and can fill me in.
    3. If i have a P4 that supports HT and the mobo dont support HT will the CPU still work perfectly only without using the HT?
    4. I want to purchase an Antec 430watt PSU but until then will my existing 'non-brand' 350watt PSU be enough to run a P4 2.4b, MSi P4e, R800, 512 2100 DDR, 1 40 gig 7200 HD, 1 CD-ROM, 1 CD RW, 1 floppy, 19'' monitor, onboard sound? (i use the aforementioned 350watt perfectly at the moment with most of those above spec except for im using a P4 1.7, sdram, qdi mobo.
I appreciate all feedback related to my questions...
    Thankyou for your time.

Thankyou for such a fast reply (Abits boards were never like this
Anyway sorry i didnt clarify the mobo that im extremely close to buying but its the MSi 845e and on the blue box it has in large numbers '533' so im assuming that it will allow me to use my P4 at a fsb of 133 quad pumped to 533fsb without overclocking the AGP/PCi... can you please confirm or deny if that is correct?
Also im very pleased to hear that my Radeon 8500 will be fine in that board as i love that video card alot and dont want to upgrade video to a G4 for the sake of only a mobo/ram upgrade.
Im inclined to agree with you saying that the 350 non brand PSU may be suffiecient power, i guess if it turns out to need more power then i can always buy the Antec 430watt tru-power that i was going to originally (im trying to save as much money in the upgrade as is possible but im not trying to cut corners, stability is paramount to me)
Thankyou for taking the time to reply to me, i appreciate and respect your help.

  • MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200-VTD8X question

does the MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200-VTD8X question video card have a sheet of copper on the back side of the video card?

I don't know because I don't have that video card, but on one of the hardware sites I've been to, it says the backplate is simply too light to be copper and they suspect it's copper-coloured aluminum. I am not sure, maybe someone with the card can check it out.

  • Would Pentium D work on MSI 915 GM-FR mobo?

    Hey guys,
I was browsing Newegg last night and I came across an Intel Pentium D for $97.00.  My dad uses and MSI 915 GM-FR mobo (MS-7033) with LGA-775, with a P4 2.8 single core.  Would it be possible to install a Pentium D and have it work correctly with this mobo, even though it came out before pentium D?
    THanks,
    Alex T

Sorry, 915 series does NOT support Pentium D.
I think you may opt for the higher speed of P4, 3.6Ghz 661, they also on very cheap price... however, I doubt you can really feel the improvements. Your P4 2.8 single core, it should have hyperthreading already, right? the performance difference is quite little.. It's not 50% of improvement, probably just 10%.

  • MSI P6N SLI Platinum OEM Modification Question

The MSI P6N SLI Platinum OEM edition motherboard comes with all the circuit layout needed to support 2 SLI x16 Style connectors for SLI'd video cards. However the OEM only comes with one installed and an empty slot for the other. What resistors and the like would I need to add to the board in order to add the pcie x16 connector to the empty area on the board? I've already found a source for the actual slot, and I know I am going to need to add a resistor of some type to the empty resistor slot directly above where the PCIe slot will go. Beyond that I don't know what else I need to do, or what type of resistor is needed.
Oh yeah, and where can I go to buy the optional accessories for this board that came with the retail version? I would have prefered the retail version but the board I have came as part of a kit.

    Hello Tornath,
you have already mentioned yourself, that you have an OEM-Board, not an MSI-Retail Board. MSI does not provide end-user support for OEM products, as this is the responsability of the OEM Vendor who is selling OEM Boards under a different name.  Also, this forum will not support OEM Products and that is why I will have to close this thread.
However, before you waste huge amounts of your lifetime with trying to add a second PCI-Express Slot to your OEM-Board, let me explain to you, why your plan is rather pointless:
    1) The only OEM-Board of this class I know of, has the model number MS-7350VP.  If there ever was a marketing name, it would be called P6N Platinum (not P6N SLI Platinum), and there is one simple reason for that:
    2) This particular OEM Board has an NVIDIA nForce 650i Ultra Chipset (as opposed to the NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI), and if you look at the specifications for NVIDIA Chipset on the official NVIDIA Chipset Specification Site, you will see that this Chipset does not support the NVIDIA SLI™ Technology: http://www.nvidia.com/page/nforce_600i_tech_specs.html   .... That is basically why there is no additional PCI-Express Slot in the first place.   So even if you should succeed in adding a secondary PCI-Express Slot to the board physically, the chipset will render it more a less useless in terms of running two video cards in SLI mode.

  • MSI GS70 Stealth Pro - mSATA Question.

    Hi there
I am interested in buying this machine. Collecting some information before I do that.
This machine seems to have 2 or 3 mSATA slots.
    Questions:
          1) Can I use my own mSATA drives in these slots OR the drives in these slots fixed from OEM?
          2) Does any one know what's the maximum capacity of these mSATA slots? is It 128GB, 256GB or 512GB?
    Thank you.

    There are three mSATA slots.
    http://dragonarmy.msi.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64976#.U_7AAMWSwuE
    1. Think you should be fine as long as you have the mSATA interface SSD.
(Safer way is to ask MSI for the tested SSD lists to avoid compatibility issue.)
    2. From the website, it should be 256GB.
(Try to google around if there are people who talks about 512GB on GS70 Stealth Pro)

  • Msi k2n9 diamond raid problems/questions

Hi, yesterday I bought 2 hard drives western digital 1 TB  Caviar Blue 32mb cache each and wanted to make a raid stripe array, so they work as one and are twice as fast.
I had problems installing windows XP, so I tried windows 7. It detected the raid array, partitioned it, and installed the windows, but in the device manager I got other devices -> RAID Controller and no drivers for it. I also have a Coprocessor, but that may be the chipset drivers, that I didn't install yet.
The windows 7 is currently installed on the array, but I can't really see the performance difference. All disk information tools say it's currently 32 cache, shouldn't it be 64? And the speed is the same ~ 40-60 mb/s copy rate, 100mb/s sata-sata transfer rate.
With windows XP I tried installing the extra drivers from the web site from a floppy drive during installation, but the installation didn't detect the array at all.
Can somebody give me a clue how to fix my problem? And if you have any idea what software can I use to check the raid transfer rate and proper performance?

Hello! It is a bit "dangerous" to help someone without knowing what the system looks like. What little you said, K2N9 motherboard, doesn't exist. Have a look here http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=prodarchive&maincat_no=1 Go to the title "AM2", because a fair guess lands you there. In order to help with your driver questions we need to know what the drivers are for, you see. An alternative would be to go to Nvidia's site, where you can pick most things you need: www.nvidia.com.
Coprocessor? Might it be - if you in fact have a processor - there are more than one core?
The cache thing is a little new to me, but one must remember you have one disk now, not two. Partitioning deals with the first bytes of data on this single hard disk, and not with the "RAM" memory.
Noticing a difference can be hard, but if you were to return to no-RAID status you will, for a little while, hate the longer boot-up time and slower start of programs. Since it runs at all, 100 mb/s read time is not out of order.
well i misplaced the numbers, it's k9n2, it's not that big mistake, and I know my system well. I have two disks, but one array, and i think the cache must be 2x, because the idea of raid 0, simultaneously writing bits on both disks. The logical idea is that if you write something to e drive with 32 mb cache you will be able to write the same thing on two drives with 32 mb cache each which makes it 64 mb
The coprocessor part is solved, after I installed the chipset drivers, but the raid thing is still there.

  • MSI P67A-C45 - many general questions

I've recently bought this motherboard, I've a couple of questions:
    1) Is there any guide explaining all the UEFI settings?
    2) I've installed the Ethernet driver (from the MSI site), the chipset driver for Series 6 Chipsets (from the Intel site), the Renesas USB 3.0 driver (MSI site), did I do the correct things?
About the UEFI, I haven't updated it but it works fine, what should I do? The only problem I noticed is that when going in or out of a menu it freezes for a second or less, doesn't seem a big issue to me.
    3) In device manager, there is a PCI Simple Communications Controller without a driver, where can I find it? What is it for?
    4) I am seriuosly thinking of keeping my "bugged" motherboard. The reason is because I have only 2 SATA device, one is a HD and the other a DVD writer (the latter is used very rarely), both of which are currently connected to the SATA III ports. I've also read that MSI will stop updating the UEFI for my motherboard and only continue with the B3, this is not a problem since I don't overclock and the UEFI works fine. What do you think?
Will the warranty of the bugged motherboard be comprimised in any way?
    5) In case I decide to change my motherboard with the B3, what do I need the send back to MSI? I mean, do I need to send the manual and all the original bags/accessories?
When I get my B3 motherboard, do I have to reinstall the OS (in my case Windows 7)?
6)Can you tell me the use of the following programs/drivers:
Intel Management Engine Driver for P67/H67
Intel SandyBridge Chipset Driver - This should be the INF drivers I downloader form the Intel site, anyway what are they for?
Renesas USB3.0 Drivers - Do I need these or does the SP1 of Windows 7 include USB 3.0 drivers?
    Intel TPM Device Driver
Realtek PCI-E Ethernet Drivers - I had to install these, strangely on my previous motherboard (always with Windows 7) these were not required, why is it so?
Realtek High Definition Audio Driver - I've always used the default Windows 7 drivers and they seem to work fine, should I install these anyway? In my motherboard's description I read "Lossless 24-bit/192KHz HD Audio - Don’t be fooled by other inferior audio solutions onboard (sometimes you can’t even find the driver!)" so I should get them from the MSI site or the Realtek one? Anyway I'm using the onboard audio connected to a 2.0 cheap setup.
Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver - First thing, now it's called Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Anyway I tried installing it but the OS hangs on boot (Windows is starting screen), so I reinstalled the OS and left the default Windows 7 driver. Since I have a single HD, I don't think there should a big performance difference, what do you think? The HD is set as AHCI in the UEFI.
Don't know if it matters, but I've done a UEFI installation of Windows 7 64-bit.
    Thanks for any help.

Does not really matter. If you find more updated drivers on the Realtek Site, then use those.  MSI doesn't really make its own drivers but gets them from Realtek as well.

  • MSI Z97-G45 Gaming MOBO DIMM issue

So, I have what seems to be a rather common issue I've heard as I continue to research more about the issue, and I'm hoping that it's not my board... but chances are it is my board. My (relevant) specs are as follows:
    CPU: Intel I5-4690k
Heatsink: Cool Master Evo Hyper 212
    GPU: Radeon HD 6970
    Memory: 2 x 4GB DDR3-2133mhz G.Skill Ripjaws X
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 500gb SSD
So, when I first cracked open my new MOBO box and got a look at this beauty a few days ago I was overjoyed, but quickly became dismayed. At first I thought the pins were bent where the processor mounts, but that isn't the issue here. The issue is that whenever I stick my RAM into the third and fourth socket it literally does not boot up. I can turn it on, the fans go, power turns on and lights flash... except there's no picture on my monitor, the light to my keyboard doesn't boot up, and then it restarts itself before turning back on and resuming... again without any sound, picture, or keyboard use. I stick 1 RAM stick into the third or fourth slot, just one and no others, and it won't boot to the bios or OS, but if it's in the first and second slot then it runs no problem. Except for the first time I received a windows error - my screen went blue and pixelated as I was playing Skyrim for a split second before it rebooted. The error it gave was ProblemEventName: BlueScreen LocaleID:1033...
A quick google search will show that it's listed under a ram issue. So, I was hoping that it was ONLY my ram and decided to switch it out for 2 x 4g 2000 kingston ram from another system in my home. First and second slot no problem, yet if it goes into the third or fourth slot then same as before; no boot to BIOS or OS. I can't believe that two sets of RAM are faulty as I have the kingston's dual channeled in another system that has been running quite well for over two years now. I'm hoping anyone else has had this issue and solved it, because I really, REALLY, don't want to RMA my motherboard, but as far as I can tell I received a defective board and am going to need a new one from MSI. Can anyone help me out or just confirm what I think I already know to be true? Thanks in advance for the help!

Yeah... sadly that's my conclusion as well, but I thought to get a second (and third) opinion just in case my own diagnostics were lacking. Part of me wants to just leave the problem, but I know it won't go away. Looks like I'll be RMA'ing my board - here's to hoping it doesn't take longer than two weeks to get another one back! I was really digging the BIOS interface and the better performance, too :( .

Hi everyone, I hope u can help me with this:
I'm planning on buying a MSI GF4 Ti4200 VTD8X (Video In) from the United States which uses the NTSC system for Video, however where I live we use the PAL system for Video. So my question is will I be able to use the Video In feature of the card ?( ?? Do these cards work using both video systems or are there different video versions of the card?
    Thanks in advance!

    bondock,
It is my understanding that they will work with both systems. They do not make them market specific.

I don't think they will go for BTX regardless
Actually they don't have much of a say since, unlike Intel, they don't make boards.  If the board manufactures switch over to BTX then they will want to phase out of ATX boards for all platforms for reasons of economy. Similary, the case manufacturers won't want to make two series of cases for each type, and the retailers won't want to stock both.
[Paranoid On] I think it's a marketing conspiracy. There is no reason they can't mirror the full size BTX board so it will fit in an ATX Tower. [/Paranoid Off]

  • Power supply mobo question

i have a an antec psu and it comes with a 3 pin plug for the motherboard, since my motherboard has only 2 3 pin plugs 1 for the HSF and the other one for the system fan. but my mobo dont have a system fan, so can i plug in the 3 pin connector from the psu to the system fan plug?

I dont think it matters which it 3 pin it is hooked upto.. but I could be wrong. However it is only to monitor the speed of your fans and doesn't draw power like it would if were a sys fan, anyway try it and see if the monitor of your fans works...
I have a question also simular. I have an Antec550 w/. the front control panel on it. My board is the K7N2-Delta which has a sys fan plugged into the MB and running the xp 2200+ stock heatsink in fan which can only hook to the 3-pin on the MB. The PSU has a three pin which hooks to the MB and is supposed to (when I turn the knob on the front) speed up or slow down my CPU fan.
The montherboard does not have an extra 3 pin, is there something I can buy that will convert my three pin from my CPU fans to a four pin so I can hook it up directly to my PSU and then hook my PSU to the board to adjust the speed of the fan??
     Or what are my solutions?
