MSI MS-7184 problem

Hi,
I think my mainboard is 'over-reading' my cpu temps. Before my cpu temp was around 30c-ish, and now its runnng at 44-45c idle. Im assuming theres a bug in the bios temp reading function as this has happened before with msi products. Can someone shed some light on this ?
Thanks
.

Moan Guide <-- please read
whats the temps like in the room ?
Air flow in the case (fans in and out)
Check temps in BIOS and try speedfan 4.29 http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php
When your getting higher temps you running high CPU usages.
Over the summer my temps when from low 30C to High 40C because of the room temp.

  • Very slow OCZ Vertex 3 SSD on Pavilion MSI MS-7184 problem

    Hi guys,hat
I´ve becomed an gift from a friend in a form of an Pavilion Desktop PC.
The first problem is that I don't really know the Pavilion type of this one.
What's sure is that it is equipped with an
    MSI MS-7184 motherboard
    2 GB RAM
Radeon HD 6570 graphics and it has the
    BIOS ver. 3.48
    HP P/N: 5188-3246
Here is my second (big) problem with it:
I've buyed an OCZ Vertex 3 SSD hoping that I'll upgrading and boosting my WIN 7 Ultimate speed. Not my day .... it goes soooooo slooooow. I've tryed bothways,  that is, copying the System partition to the new SSD, and new installing the WIN7 Ultimate on the SSD drive.
I've searched the net over SSD behaving slow issues and the only relevant things that I've found were that I have to enable the AHCI HDD access option in BIOS, option that I don't have in my BIOS.
    Any help aprecciated!!!
    Thanks.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Please post the HP product number for the PC.
Do you know what firmware level your Vertex 3 is running?   Firmware version 2.22 is the latest.  If your firmware is 2.06 of lower then you must update incrementally.  I wouldn't update the firmware if you should decide to return the SSD. See my below information.
I believe that the MSI motherboard only has SATA I which is very slow for a VERTEX 3 which to run at full performance.  Frankly, I am surprised that the VERTEX 3 even runs on a SATA I port as many SATA III SSDs will not run on a SATA I port.  Review this OCZ VERTEX 3 document.
You might want to see if you can return and exchange the SSD for another that is backwards compatible to SATA I.  Perhaps the Vertex-2 or Agility-2 would run better for your needs.

  • Msi ti 4200 problems

i installed a msi 4200 agp video card today and have had nothing but problems. on the first boot xp did not try to install new hardware. In the display properties it did not recognize the video adapter. i tried to intsall the drivers from the installation cd but it said it was not the right files and did not recognize the path. on the second reboot no picture after windows boots. i have a gigabyte mb ga-7vrxp and am upgrading from a pci video card. any help would be much appreciated.

Thatz Y... I won't switched to XP until it has really settle down...
lambethduke, I know where you've got things wrong and its a common mistake as I have accidentally did it myself before ... You must have direct right click on your Display adapter driver and un-install... This will cause the screen to go blank during startup whenever you wanna install the drivers again, though you may be able to see part of the windows starting up... Next time, juz un-install the driver by double clicking on the driver and inside the profile click on un-install and this problem will never exist to you anymore...
    All the Best... :D!!!

  • MSI G4Ti-4200 problem

Hey all, hope you can help me out.
Having some major problems with installing the Ti4200 64 card on my system. My system continually crashes with it and no games or programs run for very long, freezing or just not loading, due to lack of virtual memory.
I've downloaded the latest patch for my motherboard and graphics card so its not that.  Might be the psu as its only 300w so I'm looking into upgrading that. Could there be a prob with the motherboard, memory or psu.  I can't afford to upgrade all of them so is there a way of finding out which one it could be.
    System:
    Win 98
    Athlon Thunderbird 1.1
    FIC AZ11 motherboard
    765 crucial sdram pc133 (1 x 256 and 1 x 512)
Maxtor Plus8 IDE 40 gig Hard Drive
    MSI G4 Ti4200 td-64
    Creative SB Live!
    Liteon dvd
    300w psu

    hi again,
here are the specs for my psu.
    +3.3v - 15A
    +5v - 35A
    +12v - 10A
    -5v - 0.5A
    -12v - 0.5A
I've since flashed my motherboard with the latest bios, probably not the wisest thing to do in hindsight as now nothing happens at all with the msi agp card so i'm running off my pci voodoo 3 2000 now. As far as the cmos is concerned, its got all the same settings as before and now i'm totally confused. I'm guessing a new psu is the order of the day.

  • MSI TD512EH installation problem

Hi, I got the TD512EH V116 Ver 2.1 512MB MSI Video card - PCI Express, Nvidia 8400GS based, and installed it in my Windows XP SP3 machine (Pentium D 3.4Ghz, 3GB Ram). The card only works as a basic VGA Card (when I connect a monitor to it, it displays windows but the video is extremely slow, even simple page browsing in Firefox, are slower than when using the bult in intel graphics of the mainboard, which I Switched off in bios before inserting the card).  When I go to Hardware device manager in XP there is a ! next to the 8400GS Card, even tough I installed the latest device driver from here:
    http://www.msi.com/product/vga/NX8400GS-TD512EH.html#/?div=Driver
I tried updating the driver, both from Windows update (it says it can't find a better driver than the one I have installed) and manually pointing windows to the folder of the MSI driver files directly; it says it takes it but after everything finishes the exclamation mark (and the problem) remains. There are no other video cards listed under "Display Adapters". I also tried manual scan for hardware changes. I have no other Video cards in the system (nor other PCI Cards at all, in fact).
Attached are screenshots of device manager screens- in the driver instance ID the last few characters (cropped) are &0&0008. The "File details" window shows all the driver files as ok with a green checkmark.
    The screenshots:
    http://tinyurl.com/msividprob
or if the above link doesn't work: http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/1987/pciexpresscardnotrecogn.jpg
The General tab says "This device cannot start. (Code 10). "
The Resources tab is saying "The device isn't using any resources because it has a problem". (If its not using any resources how does it display basic VGA functionality even? I know its not the onboard Video card because it is not connected to the monitor). Roll back says of course "no previous driver" because I didn't install any other versions.
many thanks in any assistance in solving this thorny problem.
MSI Video Card Model: TD512EH V116 Ver 2.1,
    Firmware: NV116 MS111
    Driver: Nvidia_258.96_XP
Motherboard: Intel D945GNT (latest bios update installed-NT94510J.86A.4131.EB).
Running Windows XP Pro SP3 in admin account. Pentium D 3.4GHZ, 3GB RAM.

News from the front line: after installing and uninstalling video drivers a few more times, I found a file, c:\windows\system32\ati2evxx.dll that refused to be deleted (Access denied) even when there are no ATI cards (nor any other external video cards, I removed them) in the system- Driver sweeper detected this file but couldn't remove it. I used MoveOnBoot to remove it, and now I get a spooky error thus:
***User Environment. Windows cannot load User's Profile but has logged on
with the default profile of the system. Detail, The process cannot access the
file because is being used by an other process***
But my account environment seems to load otherwise with all the icons start up apps etc. Anyway the somewhat good news is that now, when I go to safe mode, the ! code 10 error in device manager no longer shows, only when booting regularly. Any thoughts?  the onboard graphics are Intel 82945G express, and now in regular boot the device manager error for the video driver is different: "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware" (code 37). When I try to do a driver update and point it to the original intel CD that comes with the system it says "could not find a better match".
    Thanks..
    Thanks

  • MSI neo2 platinum problem, forced to reset BIOS everytime I turn on the PSU

I just got my neo2 platinum mobo. Everytime I switch it ON all the led's at the back (diagnostic) turn red/orange and never turn green.
I have to reset the bios everytime to get it to post successfully. (bios is the original bios, no flashes done)
    Processor: 3000+ (939)
Anyone else have this problem? what causes it?
[update] the bios version is 1.3 which is the latest on the msi website
    System Specs..
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 90nm (socket 939)
    MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
    1 GB Kingston HyperX DDR 400 CS2
    SBlive
    Nvidia GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB MEM
    Logitech MX510
1x80GB WD HDD with 8MB cache
1x120GB WD HDD with 8MB cache
    Lite-On 48x CD-RW
    NEC 16X DVD RW Drive
RAIDMAX Black Aluminum Gaming Case with 6 case fans and 420W PSU

I think the power supply may be the problem
Once you reset the bios you don't need the amps to spin up the drives, as they are already spinning, saving you about 3 amps I bet. If the newer bios doesn't help, try unplugging half those case fans, the non boot drive, and take the cd's out of you optical drives so they dont spin up, then try cold booting your box a couple times. If it works you know you need a new power supply.
If it doesn't perhaps you've got a grounding problem? Are you positive that nothing metal is touching your motherboard where it shouldn't? If that isn't it, Id  assume the cmos never really clears, and then take the battery out of the motherboard for a good hour while the power supply is unplugged, then give it another shot. I've seen a bunch of DFI boards do weird stuff like that before, the exact same thing actually. Nvidia has a few odd issues with the nforce chipsets and the cmos.
Oh, since you asked, 3000+ is 1.8 ghz. It will probably run at 2.4ghz easy (1.4 volts), thats a 90nm chip

  • MOVED: MSI vr330x vga problem

This topic has been moved to MSI Notebook.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=144982.0

    Hi again,
Have you tried updating to Win XP Service Pack 1 yet?
Else, you may want to try this weird method as some gave a shot and the problem's solved, but not to everyone...
Boot up using the the cards that work, next, shutdown com(do not un-install drivers), put in the Leadtek card, boot up and see if there's the original 16bit colors with 800 by 600 res screen while starting up windows, if it does, try installing the drivers for WinXP/2000 by manually selecting the location as XP has a problem in detecting XP's VGA drivers, restart and see if problem persists.
    All the Best... :D!!!

I keep getting some strange BSOD. No matter what I do with the machine. Windows locks up completely and after about 1min, that BSOD comes and machine boots.
In normal usage, it comes about 1-3 times/day.
Mostly it comes when I copy some files from disk to other.
But it comes everytime when I try to decompress big (over 400mb) ZIP-files.
Everything did work with my old board, MSI KT4A. The problems begun when i changed the motherboard and added the Seagate S-ATA hdd.
I have ordered new memory, Kingston HyperX 512mb (333). Could it be memory-related or something with S-ATA ????
I have tried everything, latest BIOS, latest VIA4in1, memchecks etc...

I had the same problem on a differnt mobo and all I did to fix it was switch the IDE cables around on the devices.
    ?Give it a try?
It may be a jumper you forgot to change on  the IDE devices.

    Logitech MX5500 Revolution Cordless Desktop
    Logitech Z5500 Digital Surround Sound
    MS Vista Ultimate 64bit
    Bios Rev 1.0
After a week of struggling and the box traveling back to the wholesaler twice the OS is loaded and the MB and graphics drivers. I have faced problems from the incorrect voltage RAM being supplied (1.9V) to a horribly unstable system that boots when it wants to. Currently when the systems boots there is a 25% chance that graphic of the "windows starting" page is corrupted and the PC hangs.
This is using the only current configuration that will boot to hand to OS. I have removed 3x memory modules and only left the Black slots populated. When I populate the blue slots over and above the board quickly overheats and becomes unstable. Upon reboot either cold or hot the system will hang on "DDR init", reboot 3 times or more and sometimes displays the overclock error.
Does anyone know what the problem is and is there a workaround or update to correct this. This PC has cost plenty dough and is frustrating the hell out of me.

Max voltage for ram is 1.65V , change the settings manually if needed in the bios.
Try asking a new bios on the MSI on-line support , there is a new one but it is beta i believe. (A7566IMS.111 date 1/06/2009)
They gave me one(beta) for my eclipse (not plus)and mine is running like a rocket.

  • MSI TV@nywhere problems

I just got my MSI TV@nywhere in today and i have a problem. I installed the MSIPVS Drivers then i try to install the InterVideo MSIPVS and i follow the instructions. It then asks for my name, company name, and a serial number. I looked everywhere for a damn serial number and the only place i could see was the S/N on the UPC label that came on the box. But, that doesnt work. What am i suppose to do?! I also dont think the MSIPVS drivers i installed actually installed! PLEASE HELP  ;(

Just plug the video composite (yellow from the xbox) into the composite in on the card, then go to Radioshack and buy the folloiwng: 2 x Composite couplers & A cable the has 2 male RCA (usually red and white) and on the other end is a stereo 1/8" Headphone jack. This will allow you to hook the Right and Left audio out from the Xbox, into the couplers, then plug the RCA's from the other cable into the other end of the couplers. Now plug the 1/8" Stereo headphone jack into either the line in on the TV card, or directly to the line in on your sound card. Start the MSIPVS and fire up your Xbox.

  • .msi (installer package) problems

Apparently, I deleted the .msi file off of my computer somehow and now I cannot uninstall iTunes or install a new one ontop of the old one because my computer cannot find the file. Any ideas on how to fix the problem or at least get the .msi file back on my computer?

This kind of msi problem can usually be fixed with the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility.
Unfortunately the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility has been withdrawn by Microsoft because of compatibility issues with Microsoft Office so you will need to find a copy elsewhere – the installer is msicuu2.exe. You need version 3.
    Google msicuu2.exe download
mydigitallife in the above search has a copy of version 3
Check for malware before installing it.
After installing, To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install
If you get permission denied error, Try Run as Administrator – an option if you right click on the program.
Open the Cleanup Utility and remove any reference you find to iTunes.
    Restart and try installing iTunes.
