  • 500GB SATA HD cannot be recognised on MSI 865GM2-LS

I have just purchased a Seagate Barracuda 500GB Sata II HD. I leave the default jumper setting set to SATA 1 which is limited to 1.5GB/s operation.
I have a MSI 865GM2-LS Mainboard which was purchased in March 2004. I connected the HD to one of the two Mainboard SATA connectors.
My Phoenix Award BIOS on the Mainboard is V5.4. In the BIOS setup in the Integrated Peripherals -> On-Chip Serial ATA Setting, I have configured to either of the following settings for the SATA controller:
    1) Auto
    2) Native Mode
In either of the 2 above settings, the BIOS setup is not able to recognise the HD.
When I boot up to XP Pro, the HD is also not able to be detected in Computer Management.
The local MSI distributor Corbell in Singapore tested with a similar MSI 865GM2-LS Mainboard with a Seagate 80GB SATA II HD. The jumper was also set to SATA 1. The Mainboard BIOS setting was able to detect the 80GB HD.
Does MSI 865GM2-LS Mainboard BIOS able to detect a big capacity 500GB SATA HD? If not, kindly advise on a solution.
TIA for answering to my enquiries.

I used another SATA cable and connected it to the 2nd SATA Connector on the Mainboard. Now the 500GB HD can be recognised!
Not sure whether the 1st SATA Connector or the 1st SATA Cable is faulty.
On the BIOS setup. I see that there is a X cross on the SATA 0, not sure if  the SATA 0 has already been disabled by MSI at manufactured of the Mainboard. No cross X is shown on SATA 1 which I am currently using now.

  • Installing Full Retail Win 8 Pro on a Lenovo System supplied with Win 8 Standard/Core

If you are attempting to install a full retail (or similar) copy of Win 8 Pro on Lenovo system that came with standard Win 8 (also referred to as Win 8 Core) installed from the factory, you will run into an issue at install time.
By MS design default , full Win 8 Pro retail (etc) versions look for a key embedded in the BIOS (often referred to as an OA3 or OA3.0 key).  If  that key does not match the version of Win 8 you are trying to install, the install will fail without offering the option of entering the retail key that was supplied with your full retail (etc) Win 8 Pro.
Microsoft has issued a "FAST PUBLISH" support article on how to work  around this design approach. See
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2796988
Note that this workaround requires the creating and placing of a PID.txt  file by methods which are not entirely described in the support article, so be prepared to do some more digging for all the relevant information.

    I don't work for Lenovo

    Hi,
I have a Lenovo H520g essential desktop, which came with Windows 8 SL pre-installed. I bought my Lenovo on August 8 2013 and as of the November 2013 the machine was updated to Windows 8.1 Single Language.
Today, April 14th 2014, I bought Windows 8.1 Pro on a full retail DVD from a local physical Microsoft reseller. I have successfully installed Windows 8.1 Pro on my H520g. The installation run smooothly, no problems at all.
The steps I took were as follows:
    1)  Checked the UEFI BIOS to see if the DVD drive were included on the boot list and set it as the first boot device.
    2) Booted the computer with the Windows 8.1 pro DVD on the optical drive.
    3) Entered the Windows 8.1 License Key that came on the retail DVD.
    4) Erased all partitions from the HDD were Windows 8.1 SL were installed.
    5) Proceeded normally with the installation
Yesterday I made a phone call to the Microsoft support and they assured me that on all computers that come with Windows 8 SL pre-installed, it is possible to install Windows 8.1 Pro. The conditions are: 1) you must install the full retail version of Windows 8.1 Pro, not the OEM version; 2) you must do a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro, not the install that preserves files and applications.
    Cheers,

  • MSI z68A-GD80 (g3) "B2" error with ned gtx 970

    Hey.
    Hardware info:
    MSI z68A-GD80 (g3) - Bios version. V18.8
    Intel i5 2500k
    4x4GB kingston hyperX 1600mhz
    MSI 970 gaming g4
    PSU : Seasonic SS-500GB
My problem is that when I'm trying to install the new GPU i get the error "b2" when i boot. If i chance back to my old gpu (560 ti) or the gpu on the CPU there is no problem. Also i have tested the gtx 970 in another PC and it works.
After some reseach i found out that i need a bios update. I have tried this but with no luck, cant upgrade bios. I have use "MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing" tools with bios from MSI hp (I choose the (g3) bios) . I can get the bios on the USP stick but when I'm trying to install the new bios i got the error "Bios corruption detected !!" and stopped. I don't know what to do now, i hope that you can help me
    The usp stick is fat32

I had the exact same problem as the original poster - same motherboard, same old graphics card (560ti) and same new graphics card (970 gaming) and got the same B2 error code and the PC not going beyond that.
I flashed the bios and that fixed the problem - the exact version I used was on this page:
Ok, this forum isn't allowing me to post a link to it, but just go to the official page for the motherboard on MSI's website - then click on Support and Service Location, which should open up the list of BIOS upgrades...
The top one as of writing this is version 19.2
To do the flashing of the BIOS  you must load the downloaded exe file onto a flash drive and run it from there. Don't worry if it seems like your PC is hanging, it just takes a while (while still in Windows). It then reboots and will finish up flashing the BIOS (you'll see a red bar with the warning on a black background with white text).
After doing that, my GTX970 GAMING works like an absolute charm! I can now finally enjoy Minecraft like it was meant to be played haha (kidding, I played GTA 5 the whole weekend with EVERYTHING to the absolute MAX!)
Hope this helps if you are experiencing this extremely annoying error.

  • I just bought Mac Book pro; trying to hook up dual monitor with Samsung syncmaster 2033 but no signal; I am using dvi to hdmi converter. Please assist.

I just purchased a Macbook Pro but unable to set up dual display with samsung syncmaster 2033 via DVI to HDMI port.
Thank you in advance for help.

There has been quite a lot of discussion here about driving twin displays with the mini, and more recently about the potential for USB video adapters to facilitate this, particularly in the light of several vendors claiming they have suitable MacOS devices and drivers 'almost ready'.
The DisplayLink solution seems to be the one most suggested as viable, though it's a pity they have not yet been able to move their drivers from beta - I suspect that puts a few people off. It's therefore good to hear of a real-world experience that should help others decide whether or not to go this route!

  • Iphone not compatible with Samsung LCD TV

Hi, I have an Iphone4 and a Samsung 6000 series LCD TV. I've tried tv out through an Iphone dock to the tvs AV input .... ie the three phonos into a single jack av lead. The iphone says playing to tv but the tv says "no device found". I rang Samsung and they say that the iphone is totally incompatible with Samsung tvs and will not play even through a different device. Does anyone know different please ?
I was thinking of getting a Zepellin, but seems this will have the same issue !
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

I read the user manual for the series 6000 TV and it should work with either component or composite from the iphone4...
I dont see details on the dock you are using, but if it has a video out on the dock itself chances are it is old... apple changed over to the universal dock and the video is embedded in the 30 pin
The component and composite format is a video standard that apple has nothing to do with every digital TV i have tested it on works fine (Sanyo, Dynex, Viewsonic).
I good way to check for sure:
    1. try connected another video source to the TV (DVD player, camcorder etc)
    2. try connected your iphone4 video to another TV
But if it is an old dock, that is most likely the problem, the only video cables that should work are the 30 pin to component OR the 30 pin to composite
    good luck

  • Cannot send an MMS with Samsung Galaxy III

    Highly frustrating.
I have turned on mobile data, turned on wi-fi, restarted it and it still doesn't want to send. The send circle just keeps going around and around, for hours! I have 2GB worth of data so it shouldn't be a problem. Can anyone tell me how to make it work because I really have no desire to drive up to Verizon, don't have the time. The phone is less than a week old. >.<

    No luck..>.<
Perhaps I was doing it wrong. I took out the battery and held down the power button for 10 seconds. Then figuring I read it wrong, I took out the battery, let it sit for 30 seconds, put it back in and held the power button. Just powered on like usual. I really want to be able to send picture messages...>.<

  • Is mac mini compatible with samsung smart tv

is mac mini compatible with samsung smart tv

Likely yes if it has a video input like HDMI, VGA, DVI, display port

  • AppleTV usage with Samsung TV wirelessly

Can AppleTV be used with Samsung series 6000 LED TV without having to purchase the Samsung wireless LAN adapter. Can I just use the HDMI connection from AppleTV to the Samsung HDMI port ?

I just bought that exact model, and I have my AppleTV2 (you have one of the little black boxes, not the larger silver one?) connected to it and it works. Some things to try -- some HDMI cables are directional -- make sure you have the cable going FROM the AppleTV TO the TV.  My ATV2 is plugged into HDMI port 4 (not that it should make much of a difference).
Also, is your wireless system set up to go and broadcasting? Is your computer on, connected to the wireless system and is iTunes open?

You can in fact buy what you want, no need to go with Apple TV
To connect (wirelessly) your Mac to the HDMI on the TV:
They range from $100 on up.

  • What might be issues with Apple TV's compatibility with Samsung LED TV's, specifically the 5550 or 5500.

What might be issues with Apple TV's compatibility with Samsung LED TV's, specifically the 5550 or 5500?

I am shopping, with a focus on Samsung, and was told by a Samsung rep their TV's were not compadible with Apple TV. I found this difficult to believe so I wanted to pursue with persons knowledgeable with Apple TV.
If I find that Samsung is not compadible I wanted to determine which lines, e.g. Sony, might be compadibile, as I wanted to use Apple TV.
    Thank yoyu

  • "Rastertosec failed" error with Samsung ML-2010

In the last 30-days or so, I've been unable to print to my Samsung ML-2010 laser printer. Previously, even after my upgrade to Leopard, I had no issue. I've removed and reinstalled the printer numerous times, but to no avail. I have no problems, however, printing to my Epson RX580.
When I attempt to print to the Samsung, the printer dialog appears and shows the print job as 'stopped'. If I hit resume, the job starts up again, but the message "/Library/Printers/Samsung/ML-2010/rastertosec failed" appears. I read somewhere else that this could be related to a security update that was pushed out a few months ago, but there was no more information to support that.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Try with Samsung ML-2240 Laser printer driver instead of ML-2010. It can be downloaded from Samsung website.
