MSI N250GTS Twin Frozr 1G problem

Hello! I've just bought a new MSI N250GTS Twin Frozr 1G and installed it on my ASUS M2V-MX SE motherboard. When i started the computer, The monitor shows that it doesn't receive any signal from the computer. I don't get anything on the monitor. What can I do to fix this?

I have a 600W power supply and PCI-E power connector is plugged into the card.
I've tried it on my friends computer and it posts, his power supply is 950W.
But I've seen on the box of the graphic card under requirements that it has to have minimum 450W or greater system power supply (with a minimum 12V current rating of 24A).
http://www.coolmaxusa.com/productDetailsPower.asp?item=V-600&details=overview&subcategory=140mm&category=single this is my power supply. I am not sure it meets the last part of the requirement. Can you tell me if this is the reason?

Hello, this card worked fine for me till about 2 weeks after usage, when I game, tiny squares start appearing all over the screen and it hangs there until a notification says '' amd driver stopped responding and has recovered''. Sometimes it just goes black after the freeze and I have to force restart.
    i5-760 2.80ghz quad, 8gb ddr3, 1tb hd, dx 11, catalyst version 10.12, 650w psu
driver version for gfx driver is   8.820.2.0 according to the Intel driver update utility.

    1. Tried it on league of legends. Played fine for two weeks and now when i play, the tiny squares appear and freeze with the TDR message. Tried on WoW and screen just blacked out after awhile ingame.
    2. Sorry i got the psu wrong, its 620W instead of 650W. Seasonic M12II-620Bronze at +12V max load 48A combined load 576W total output 620W
    3. Havent done a proper load test, but right after it crashed from a game, the card was at 58deg.
    4. I have tried reformatting, as well as reinstalling. I have tried catalyst 10.10 to 11.1 beta and they all crashed too.
    5. Im just short of bringing the card down to the shop though, I dont have an extra machine.
    thanks!

  • MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II Random Crashes

    Hello,
I have had an MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II video card for the past year, and it has been operating without problems for most of that time. I have been slowly upgrading my computer over past 5 years, but keeping the same motherboard and CPU. A few months ago I started having issues with it:
While playing video games or browsing the internet the video drivers crash and recover after a few seconds at random times, approximately once every half an hour. 30% of the time, the card crashes and doesn't recover at all, with a black screen, prompting a restart of the system.
Last month I have rebuilt my PC: kept the same the video card, 750W power supply (both 1 year old) and all my hard drives. I reinstalled the same version of Windows 7. I made sure to take precautions against static in the process. However the problem persists.
Because I have my power button set to a restart, I am able to have the computer perform a soft reboot every time when the screen goes black, rather than forcing a hard reset, so to me this means the new CPU, Motherboard and RAM are working OK. Also on occasion switching my monitor cable between the two DVI outputs brings the image back.
Here are some of the other things I have tried so far unsuccessfully:
Updating the motherboard and bios drivers to the latest version
Using a tool to delete and reinstall latest ATI drivers (12.9)
    Using ATI beta drivers (12.11b)
Using both windows and 3rd party memory check tools (both came back OK)
Changing RAM settings from 1600 to 1333.
Underclocking the video card (although it runs pretty cold and I have a dedicated fan installed right underneath it).
I will welcome any other suggestions.
    Thank you in advance,

Here is an update on my situation:
I went out a bought a new PSU, Antec HCG-620M, but the problem didn't go away. I'm still trying to keep up with the latest drivers. However most games that require high performance (i.e. Witcher 2 out of the older, more stable games) remain unplayable due to fairly regular random video card crashes. Older games with lower specs play fine though. I have also been running SpeedFan in the background and have seen an occasional spikes in the video card's operating temperatures (as high as 81C) but crashes occur at any temperature.
    Help would still be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • MSI N580GTX Twin Frozr II SLi Game Crashing

I bought 2 of these cards in my new system and installed the 266.58 drivers and I haven't had them work properly yet as they always seem to crash somewhere between a few seconds and 5 minutes into a game. Games include Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Just Cause 2, Metro 2033 (DX11), AVP (DX11) and Dirt 2 (DX11). I have been tearing my hair out trying to work out what the problem is. I am guessing voltage but am not sure. I have downloaded Afterburner 2.1 Beta 7 and it seems to set the cards to 822,1645, 2138 and 1.05v. I also uninstalled the newest drivers and did drier sweeper and installed 263.09 and have exactly the same problem. Svet do you have any idea on what I could try ? Many thanks in advance...

Ok so I played JC2 for about an hour and Crysis Warhead for about 30 mins and no crashes. I did experience some lag - noticable in parts of Warhead where the frames dropped considerably. Neither game was butter smooth. I am gaming at 2560x1600 with everything to the max. So do you suggest I test the other card now or is there something I can do to improve the performance of this one ? Thanks again for all your help Svet.
That one is working well then.

I have also played through Metro 2033 for a while and no crashes there either. I will test the other card tomorrow by itself when I get some time.
yes, test the second one now [also alone], with the same tests

  • 650 ti boost twin frozr fan problem

    Hello,
In december I bought MSI 650ti twin frozr 2gb. Untill now everything was fine but lately when weather became hot and of course temperatures went up I noticed that my card is making some kind of rattling, vibrating, resonating noise when fans spin above 45% speed, the faster they spin the louder the sound gets, stopping the fan closer to power connector eliminates the problem. I was thinking that maybe its because of my old pc case so I bought new one from zalman but the sound is still there.
So right now I see only two options, either the card is faulty somehow or its some kind of problem with my motherboard which I dont think is very probable. Should I RMA the card ?
Thank you for help in advance

if you think that there is a problem with one of the card's FAN(s),
RMA the card to get it fixed

  • MSI R7950 Twin Frozr III Temp Issues

I have been having issues with my video card (MSI R7950 Twin Frozr III) under load and previously even while  idle with temperatures being way higher than they should be. Browsed many forums and it was suggested that I change the thermal paste, which fixed part of the issue (The video card under "normal" load went from 95C to 75-84C while at 90 to 100% load the temperatures rises back up to the 90s). Before changing the thermal paste, the idle temperatures were around 60, under regular load a little over 90 as stated previously.
The video card runs perfectly otherwise which has me thinking it's most likely a problem related to the heatsink and cooler itself.
I'd personally rather avoid RMA if possible so my question is, is it possible for a cooler/heatsink to cause such a high temperature issue and if so, would purchasing an aftermarket cooler fix the problem or could there be other issues leading to the high temperatures other than the cooler/heatsink itself?
    Thank you for your time.
In case this is relevant in any way:

    WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit.
    Catalyst 12.4

After flashing to this vbios, I seem to have gained performance, but the card also seems to be running a bit more hot which could be affected by me being in a different area in the game or slightly higher temperature in my room around the computer, etc.
I haven't tried changing drivers lately, had before when I first was faced with this temperature problem (Have been busy for a while and never bothered trying to figure the issue or try reapplying thermal paste to see if it would fix it until I got time for it recently). I tried both AMD's official drivers, the drivers I had at the time for my 4890 as well and the MSI auto-update software, none of which seemed to fix the heat problem.
If you believe I should try drivers now and see if it can fix the problem once again I don't mind trying.

  • MSI - R6870 - Twin Frozr II - Is this too hot?

I think there is something wrong with this card of mine. I noticed that the idle temps were high. Way too high. I opened the case, latest ati 11.11 drivers, outdoor temperature of 20 degrees C, this card is idling around 62 degrees C. As demonstrated here:
If I force the fan to 80% it will drop down to about 55 degrees.
Is this card faulty? Seems unusually hot for something that's meant to be extra cool.

I use MSI AfterBurner program. You can preset the Fan.  I place mine on AUTO , other option is set to 50 percent fan speed which will also keep it within a good Temp. or User Control and Scale your temp settings.
. At 100 percent Load running for 30 minutes to 1 hour have yet seen my HD 6870 Twin Frozr II (OC) version hit 70c.  Usually at 60 -65c.  But if you ever get near 90c or above ... then problems are arising.
My pc system with the MSI cards don't like the AMD Catalyst Drivers or even those from MSI.  I have to play around finding which DRIVER from which Catalyst 10.XX or 11.XX performs the Best.
All I know is that AMD/ATI has left the HD68xx series in the dust as Has Been graphic cards and leave the customer the worries of finding a Driver that works.
I have CrossFire configuration but the DirectX 11 says my cards don't support DirectX 11.   Using one of the earlier Drivers, I will be able to use DirectX 11 but then I don't have CrossFire.
So go figure ....  1 Driver will work for one thing but not the other.  Beware that some will cause Artifacts or Green Screen or Screen Freezes (Locks Up) or even cause your Computer to Crash (get a error) and Dump.
AMD don't care about supporting the HD 68xx series.  Get a chance go with HD6950's or 6970's.   I'm tired of the ATI/AMD games. In May 2008 went with ATI HD 3870's and worked well until one fried in December 2010 for unknown reasons.
So I replaced them with HD6870's hoping for great Drivers. So disappointed now that it's been a year. My next PC rig going back to nVidia.!!!!  Sure nVidia cards get hotter (power hogs) but they're more reliable and lasted longer than the AMD/ATI cards.   No wonder nVidia is #1 --- 99 percent of the time. Well we do need AMD competition to keep nVidia prices down.
    my rig:
Thermaltake Armor Plus full tower, Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6 mobo,  Intel e-8500 3.16GHz CPU, OCZ PC3-2000 (1600) 2x2GB memory, Zalman ZM850 850watt power supply, Zalman CPS-9500 CPU cooler, and MSI HD6870 Twin Frozr II (OC) in Crossfire ... replaced the old Sapphire Toxic HD3870's. Use Dual Boot OS's Vista Ultimate 64 bit and Windows 7 64 bit.

  • MSI N580GTX Twin Frozr II/OC BSOD crash under low load.

    MSI N580GTX Twin Frozr II/OC
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V LE LGA 1155
    Windows 7 Professional 64
Basically my computer gets a BSOD whenever it's under low load.  Like just using an internet browser or word processing program.
Even if I just turn my computer on and leave it on the desktop it will just BSOD.
It never crashes when I am playing a video game.  In fact in order to keep my system running without a BSOD I run a game in the background so it won't crash when I browsing.
I took out the card and I have not had any issues.  So I thinking perhaps this might be a weird issue with the LucidLogix Virtu (Universal Switchable Graphics) - Auto Switching between Integrated Graphics and the Card.
    The bugcheck was: 0x0000001a (0x0000000000041790, 0xfffffa8004637a90, 0x000000000000ffff, 0x0000000000000000).

Which Nvidia drivers and which browser are you using ? >>Posting Guide<<
If you look on the NVidia Forum, you will see that this is quite a common complaint from numerous users and not particular to any specific manufacturers card. For some, drivers solve the issue, others a slight increase in core voltage solves the issue.
    http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=215256&hl=browser crash&st=0
I can suggest that you use Afterburner and test the card at stock 772 MHz core to see if it does the same. Then test the card at its factory clock and increase the GPU core voltage by about 30 - 50 milli Amp. See if any of those solves your problem. What are your temps like ?

  • MSI 560GTX Twin Frozr II/OC Freezing up in BF3

    Hello,
I installed this card yesterday and yesterday i had no problems with it, but today, when playing BF3, about 5 minutes into the game it freezes up completely. The screen just freezes up like a screenshot, and my whole PC won't respond anymore. When playing MW3 everything is fine. No freeze-ups at all and the game is running great. Im using the 280.26 Drivers from the MSI-site. Everything else in my system is up to date. It's really annoying because I bought this card for BF3 and it runs this game great, but now I'm only allowed to play for 5 minutes before freezing..
    I'm using the following setup:
    Motherboard: P5E
    CPU: Core2Quad 9550 @ 2.83 Ghz
    RAM: 4 GB Corsair Dominator
    Soundcard: Soundblaster X-Fi Fatality

  • MSI 6870 Twin Frozr II Temps

I currently purchased MSI 6870 Twin Frozr II and I'm about to overclock it. Although, I want to know the safe temp for this card.
    -Thanks.

The Twin Frozr II is a very good cooler so you shouldn't have much problems with temps. The speed will adjust accordingly to keep it in safe limits. I'm not sure what the max safe temps are for your card but certainly don't let it go much over 90C.

...then go into the AMD Vision Engine Control Centre along the left hand side, look for "My Digital Flat-Panels" click this and in the new options find "Scaling Options (Digital Flat-Panel)", move the slider right till it says 0% and this should fix the issue. Good luck!

  • MSI 7950 Twin Frozr HDMI output to TV help needed

Hi, i got an MSI 7950 Twin Frozr last week and it works great. However, i'd like to be able to extend my display to my TV with HDMI cable (brand new and works when plugged to monitor).
It seems i get no signal. In ccc (or Device Manager), my TV doesn't appear.
I have got it working a while back with a GT8800.
Could this be due to unsupported res? frequency?
    Any help appreciated!
    Cheers

if it isn't showing up in CCC or windows display manager then either your tv isnt giving a connection signal or the cable your using has a broken cable inside that the monitor doesn't use but the TV doe's
first get a new hi quality HDMI cable from a good maker like JVC to rule out that the Cable isn't defective (it may be new but it could still be broken as it happens)!
also what brand and model is the TV? (if its an LG there prone to having problems sending a signal of what it is to a graphics card)
also try to clean the hdmi port on the TV as it may have something contaminating the connection!

I just bought MSI GTX660 twin frozr (S/N 602-v287-04SB1208179614) and my problem started to have random restarts (few times a week) at idle (while browsing or while PC being idle), event log has nothing just kernel power lost :(
Monitors just go off (i have 32inc LCD on HDMI and 22inc on DVI/RGB) PC turn off and restarts... thats all, did not test with just one display????
    I have:
Asus p8p67 B2 rev bios 2303 (3xxx bioses need B3 revision of the chipset)
    8GB of ram
    2500K
    Windows 7 x64
    700w LC hyperion PSU
    latest NV drivers (clean install)
Before i had GTX460 no problems at all
Also under load PC is 100% stable (memtest, prime, 3d mark, cuda memory test ect)
Also GTX660 is new and has the latest bios 80.06.10.00.15

That this psu is sold as a 700w although it is a 600/630w is a quality statement speaking for itself (means bad quality).
Also there are two versions of that psu and none is at 50A on +12V:
LC Power Hyperion LC8700 V2.2 is a split rail with just 18 A each.
    600W (Peak Load: 700W)
    +3.3V: 30A
    +5V: 28
    +12V 1: 18A
    +12V 2: 18A
    +12V 3: 18A
    +12V 4: 18A
    -12V: 0.8A
    LC8700II V2.3 Hyperion is a single rail
    630W (Peak Load: 700W)
    +3,3V   25A
    +5V   25A
    +12V   45A
The LC8700II therefor looks a bit better. Which one do you have?
i have version 1.0 yeah i know they faked inside is CWT 600-650W but still its near ~50A i think real max is 46A and peak 50+... 700w CWT is 56A...
atm i switched other PCI-e power connector will see in future, so far ~20h no restarts
Also so far i faund few forum posts with restarts problems for kepler GPUs, and both ppl have 2 monitor setup as me, one fixed with switching PSU cables
