MSI N260GTX-T2D896-OCv4

Zipzoomfly.com has MSI N260GTX-T2D896-OCv4. It seems like a pretty good deal on this card $142 after $30 mail in rebate. The $30 rebate expires today, normally they're $20. Is this card good? I see MSI really overclocked this 260GTX from stock. I would be upgrading from the OC MSI 8800GT with the Zalman cooler and heatpipes. Should I jump on this or wait for further price drops and new cards? What would the performance increase be over my 8800GT OC?

  • MSI N260GTX Problem with driver or...?

I installed a MSI N260GTX today on an Asus PQ5 P45 mobo. After installing the drivers from the CD provided with the graphic card, my Windows XP went into 4-bit colors. I tried various of other drivers, but the same problem occured.
I am going to try the grap.card. on another system tomorrow, but can you tell if the problem is with a busted G.card, busted mobo or some other issue?

Boot in "Safe Mode" then use Driver Sweeper { http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1655 } to remove current drivers.
Then reboot to normal mode and install latest drivers, depend of your OS version:

I just bought 2 new graphic cards: MSI N260GTX
I pulled my old card out and the new one's in. Connected 2x pcie power cables and an SLI bridge (or whatever its called)...
Now i turned on my pc and nothing really happens, just a blank monitor
So i tried all the different options, 1 card, 2 cards on the different PCIe slots with the 2 different     uh... DVI/VGA things :p (on the back of your card for your screen)
But all i got over and over is a blank screen.
Even after trying 1 Ram card instead of 2
The LCD poster of my Mobo says Errormsg after 15 secs after startup so it really doesnt do anything :S duh ..
    Are they both dead ??
So i thought i put my old graphics card in (ATI radeon HD 3870) and that one works just fine, so my mobo is fine i think
Does anyone know what i can do, or do or did anyone have the same problems????
    Mus
    srry for my bad english...

     1 - Recommended PSU for a system with 260GTX SLI is +12V~50A, your Corsair +12~41A. Recommend you get TX650W +12V~52A as minimum PSU, better would be TX750W +12V~60A or PC P & C Silencer 750W +12V~60A.
2 - Is that 2 PCIe 6 pin power for each card or just 1 on each card?
3 - Did you follow instructions Asus to enable SLI?

  • MSI N260GTX Twin Frozr Info

    Hello...
I just bought an MSI N260GTX Twin Frozr, but i am not an expert in video cards, so i would like someone to tell me if it is a good purchase.
i have notice a brief loud (fan) noise everytime i turn on my pc, and i dont know if it is normal.
is it necessary to atach the 2 pci-e power connectors?
i have noticed MSI has several 260 GTX models, wich one is the best?

When PC is 1st switched on all of the fans start up at full speed so nothing to worry about. I have a 260 OCSP Twin Frozr and it is a good card, I don't use it now because of the 465 Twin Frozr ll now in use. Yes you must have both 6 pin plugs connected. If your PSU has only one PCIe 6 pin then use the 2x4 pin MOLEX to PCIe 6 pin adapter that came with VGA for the other one. You should be happy with the one you bought.
Edit: Forgot this part, most people use the latest NVIDIA website drivers.

  • Artifacts with N260GTX T2D896 OC

    Hi,
I've bought the n260GTX model yesterday and have installed it on Asus M2N-Plus SLI Vista Edition.
I have random colored pixels that appears on screen ( especially on my wallpaper but sometimes on windows' top bars ).
I've modified the fan speed to 100% because it seems the heat is the problem....
    Anyone has an idea?

    Read >>Posting Guide<<
"I've modified the fan speed to 100% because it seems the heat is the problem...."
    And...? Does it makes difference?
Have you tested the VGA in another machine yet?

Were is the link? You say here it is, but no link. Want to make sure I download the correct vbios.
I also noticed in GPU-Z that is doesn't show as a MSI vcard as were it does with the 216 core version below?
I also have a 216 core with Version 62.00.49.00.00. Is this the latest vbios for that card?

Sorry but I ask two questions One I think applys to this topic since I see others asking about the Version 62.00.0E.00.03 192 core.
This was my reason for post to this topic "after a google search lead me here". I use to be a mod at the Abit forum for may years,
since 2002 before it closed last year, so I know a little about how forums are suppose to work.
My main post here was to find out about the vbios you talked about & made mods to.
I fold as I see you do & for some reason my 192 core vcard goes into like a low power mode after a while.
So it no longer produces the PPD=points per day that it actually should & can produce.
This being the reason I'm looking to upgrade the vbios for that card.
Thank you for your time & patients in this matter.
Remove the OC and re-test, too possible that to be the source of the issue.
The VGA adapter can reset itself when clocks are too high... and clock freq. drop is no wonder.
Shader Freq. is too high and also invalid. 1500MHz, actual{real clock} VGA SD clock is running at 1512Mhz [+12MHz difference than reported freq.]
    For GPU 650MHz, actual{real} clock is 648MHz [-2MHz difference than reported freq.] {Reference clock 27MHz[crystal clock]}
    For Mem 1100Mhz, actual{real} clock is 1107MHz [+7MHz, difference than reported freq.] /* 2214 DDR*/
Remove any VGA OC and see if the problem will persist.
    If no then you can consider better OC settings, as GPU clock to shader ratio with sync. in 1:2, like {648, 1296, 1080}
Valid selection for SD freq. steps options are formed with pulse:
    1/3 from Reference clock x 2 , aka 27/3x2=18 [low] ^^ 1/3 from Reference clock x 4 , e.g /* [lowx2] */ ==>  aka 27/3x4=36 [high]
/* with increment low/high in alternate way each cycle repeated twice */
    E.g:
    1584MHz,{too high} <=low=> 1566MHz,{too high} <=low=>  1548MHz,{too high} <=high=> 1512MHz, {too high} <=high=> 1476MHz,<=low=> 1458MHz,<=low=> 1440MHz, <=high=>1404MHz,<=high=> 1368MHz,<=low=> 1350MHz,<=low=> 1332MHz,<=high=> 1296MHz
And freq. values formed below nominal SD clock {1296MHz}:
    [1/3 from Reference clock x 2 + 1/3 from Reference clock] x 2, aka [(27/3*2)+27/3]x2=54{Ref.Clk. x 2}, e.g /* [low+high] */
    {as followed ==> 1296MHz, <=[low+high]=> 1242MHz, <=[low+high]=> 1188MHz, <=[low+high]=> 1134MHz}
Also keep in mind that SD Freq. also depend of VGA core clock range,
even running in not sync mode you can't apply for example 756 core with 1476 SD clock.
To obtain the 756 for core, SD need to go at least to 1512MHz.
E.g each SD clock range cover specified core clock region.

  • GTX 260+ N260GTX-T2D896-OCv2 fps issue in final fantasy xi

After spending two days scouring the net, I have not been able to come up with any kind of solution to my problem.  Once upon a time, a set of beta drivers were released to fix the FPS slowdown issue on nVidia based cards, but said drivers do not function on this card.  Are there any specially tuned drivers that will solve the fps slowdown?
I'm using windows 7 at the moment, but vista 64 is my normal OS.  If there's any information needed that I'm leaving out, please let me know.

You should look for a patch on the game's support website. If you don't have problems with any other games, its an issue with that game, not the card.

  • SLI - Can I use two different video card versions for SLI?

    Hello,
Can I use two different generations of MSI video cards that implement the same GPU for SLI?
    The two video cards are:
    MSI N260GTX-T2D896-OCv2 GeForce GTX 260 896MB <-- What I currently have
    MSI N260GTX-T2D896-OCv3 GeForce GTX 260 896MB
    MSI N260GTX-T2D896-OCv4 GeForce GTX 260 896MB
The main difference between these three seems to be that the OCv3 has two fans and a different heatsink than the OCv2.  The OCv4 has one fan like the OCv2 and but it is located in a different location and some weird spikey heatsink thing going on.  I already have the OCv2 but I am looking to get another card for SLI and newegg doesn't sell the OCv2 anymore.  The important thing is that I am looking for is stability and it seems that the most ideal setup would be to get identical cards.
By the way, why are there so many versions (updates?) to this card?  Have there been issues related to the card that necessitate a revision?
    Thanks

Different coolers(HS and fans) and possibly different makers of vRAM.  But, you should be able to run SLI without issues regardless of the versions.

    What now?
These cards have worked flawlessly for 4 years (2 yrs gaming) and still work fine with everything except FAH.  I just installed BOINC to see if it fails but I'm having a hard time finding GPU projects for it and it isn't quite as demanding as FAH (which Stanford uses to fault hardware every time).
Normally with driver updates, I update firmware but I've only found newer GTX260 BIOSs for other brands and only posts discouraging firmware updates for this particular card.  If there is a newer BIOS available, I need to flash it to troubleshoot this as I have exhausted all troubleshooting measures I can think of.
    - Does anyone know where I can get the most current BIOS compatible with the N260GTX-T2D896-OC?
    - Does anyone have any other ideas of what I can try to get FAH working or prove a hardware fault or software incompatibility?
    Thanks in advance

    Quote
FAH isn't the only thing that fails; several GPU number-crunching apps fail on FAH and BOINC.
    this sounds similar to FAH
    Quote
That would also contradict the thousands of other GT200 cores successfully crunching/folding.
could be, would be no wonder. they may have compatibility problems with older cards.

Would you happen to know how I can get a list/downloads of available BIOS ROMs for this card?
i can get BIOS roms for you. but using is down at own risk.
flashing to the wrong vbios can kill the card

  • N260GTX-OC, computer will not POST

    Hi everybody,
I recently got an MSI GTX 260, and after installing it my computer would not POST. I had an 8600 GT, switched the cards out an my computer turns on for about 5 seconds, then turns off and reboots, continuously. I had a Cooler Master 500W, but saw it was only pushing 32A over the +12v rails. So I went out and bought a BFG GS-650W which puts out 40A over +12v, so thats over the required 36A. Everything is disconnected expect RAM, CPU, Gfx card, and one SATA DVD drive. I don't have another machine to test the card in, so is there anyway I can tell if the PSU is still underpowered or if it's the card?
    Full specs:
    Gigabyte P35-DS3R
Core 2 Duo E6750 (was OC'd to 3.0, but I put it back to the stock 2.66)
    2 GB DDR2-800
    MSI N260GTX-OC 896MB (i hope?)
    X-Fi Platinum
    BFG GS-650W PSU

I live in Germany so I'm not familiar with MIR system at newegg and therefor let you correct me
As far as I know the output of Corsair psus is rated at 50°C while PC P&C rates continous output at 40°C which is a bit more ideal. Also Corsair doesn't really make psus so the TX650 is to my knowledge made by Seasonic (TX750 is Channel Well) who have also an excellent reputation for psus.
At least both are great units and one can't do anything wrong deciding between the two. It's more or less a question of personal preferences. I don't think one of them is really a better buy because of technical reasons.
I have to correct you a bit about the popularity and availability of PC P&C in Europe. Well, I can only speak for Germany but over here those units are easiely available in most shops. There's no difference to the States. Price level is almost the same with Corsair TX series and got quite low by now. Without any rebates TX650 and Silencer 610 are about $108/€80.

  • GTX260-OC High Temps all of a sudden

My N260GTX-T2D896-OCv2  temperature is going up to 99C.  I always had the fan speed set to 60% and before the temp wouldn't go past 65C.  I cleaned whatever dust there was and tried again with same result.  Now my fan speed is at 75% and the temp is holding at 74C.  What's happening?  Should I reinstall the nvidia drivers, maybe something is causing the reading to be inaccurate?
I checked the temp with msi afterburner(using this to increase fan speed), gpu-z, hwmonitor.
    Thanks

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127409  I bought the card 2/22/09
This is what I'm doing.. I launch world of warcraft and sit on the login screen and watch my temps go up.  It's never been above 65C(on 60% fan speed) , ever , until now.  I have to keep the fan speed above 75% or the card will get to 99C like it did earlier today when I decided to check. PCB temp is high too, 59C.   I reinstall nvidia drivers and still same thing, high temps and I'm only using 84% of the GPU too.. if it was any higher who knows how hot it will get.

  • Elements 8 freezing solution requested

I just picked uo my new computer.. windows 7 64 bit  i7 cpu , N260GTX-T2D896-OC-V3 video card,  8gb ddr3 ram 2 x 1 TB mirrored HDs and downloaded the premiere elements package (video and photo). After installation and trying out some imported AVCHD movies I got a fair number of freeze ups at even the simplest of tasks. In the Adobe forums I read about the possible 3D settings/ ddl files conflicting and forced the 3D setting off on this graph card. Then the program would not open existing test projects. Checked the latest driver update and had no other programs running. All indications that I could find gave the impression Adobe premiere elements 8, nvidia and windows 64 bit are compatible. The last time I opened PE8 there was an "event warning" that the graphic card or driver was not working properly. Via control panel everything seemed oké. Any advice what to try next?
    Thanks

My version of Premiere Elements 8 runs like a dream on Windows 7 -- but I'm running it on the 32-bit system.
Windows 7 is supposed to be very good about switching into compatibility mode when you run a 32-bit program on it -- but, especially on a brand new operating system, there may be issues with 64-bit drivers.
Hopefully, someone who's successfully running it on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine can offer some advice.

  • My Computer Lists the Wrong Videocard

So my comp says I am using the graphics card "GeForce GTX 260" when I know for a fact I have either a "MSI N260GTX TwinFrozr" or a "MSI N275GTX TwinFrozr" in my comp.
    Is this supposed to happen?
I'm trying to download the latest drivers to possibly fix all the ridiculous problems I am getting with trying to play MapleStory and Source games.
    my specs:
    CPU: Intel Core i7 920
    Motherboard: ASRock X58 Extreme
    Memory: 3 sticks of 2GB DDR3
And according to CPUID and simple (System > Properties > Device Manager) and (Run > dxdiag): GeForce GTX 260.
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
    Browser: Chrome
If anyone could shed some light on the situation so I can get my computer life back on track, that would be great. Thanks.

It doesn't matter, they use the same drivers no matter which one you have. Software like that will not give you the exact model, the Twin Frozr is just the name MSI chose to give the cooler and has nothing to do with whether it's a 260, 275 or whatever. All that software does is ID the GPU chip and nothing more.
Just go to NVIDIA and get the latest drivers for your card there.

if memories in slot1&3 then go into bios then default setting click on it then click yes then save and exit then test.
if prob still persist then as wonka has suggested strip to bear, test,  then add one hardware then test start time..and so on,  from this you should be able to identify the hardware which is causing it.
if prob persist your last option is flashing bios safely
