MSI N260GTX Twin Frozr Info

Hello...
I just bought an MSI N260GTX Twin Frozr, but i am not an expert in video cards, so i would like someone to tell me if it is a good purchase.
i have notice a brief loud (fan) noise everytime i turn on my pc, and i dont know if it is normal.
is it necessary to atach the 2 pci-e power connectors?
i have noticed MSI has several 260 GTX models, wich one is the best?

When PC is 1st switched on all of the fans start up at full speed so nothing to worry about. I have a 260 OCSP Twin Frozr and it is a good card, I don't use it now because of the 465 Twin Frozr ll now in use. Yes you must have both 6 pin plugs connected. If your PSU has only one PCIe 6 pin then use the 2x4 pin MOLEX to PCIe 6 pin adapter that came with VGA for the other one. You should be happy with the one you bought.
Edit: Forgot this part, most people use the latest NVIDIA website drivers.

  • Request: Latest UEFI / GOP vBIOS for MSI R7870 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC

    Hello there!
I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit and would like to upgrade to the latest UEFI / GOP vBIOS for my MSI R7870 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC please.
I ran GPU-Z and have posted my current vBIOS here:
    stoguild.info/pitcairn.zip
    Thank you in advance!

No, that's not the S/N. If there's no other sticker that's bad. According to your provided vbios this gop one should be right:
    >>TV274MH.100<<
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0). Then unpack the previously provided archive and put the included file (TV274MH.100) on that stick. Rename TV274MH.100 to TV274MH.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also on the USB stick. Now boot from the stick. Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 TV274MH.rom [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.

  • Teazers of MSI N465GTX Twin Frozr II Video Card

Just right after testing the reference design MSI N465GTX video card, here just what showed up today. MSI N465GTX Twin Frozr II . I did not expect that MSI had this came out early for retail and was really excited to try it out. Here are some teasers pics.
The box is still the same where you can open up the front cover and see a brief explanation about the Military Components (Hi-c Cap, Solid Chokes & Solid Caps), Super Pipe and MSI Afterburner.
Now for the package bundle, you have:
•Manuals and Software CD which includes drivers and some utilities
    •2x 4pin to 6pin power connectors
•Monitor adapters such as DVI to HDMI, DVI to VGA and Display port to HDMI
MSI done a great job here putting MSI logo and Twin Frozr II name on the top side of the card. Once installed in your rig. MSI name can be easily see
I never get tired looking at the Twin Frozr II cooler. Great job here MSI. Thick heatpipes!!! The Best!!!!
Rear ports. Two DVI connectors and one display port.
Upon testing the card. I overclocked it right away and tried a higher OC than the reference MSI N465GTX that I just previously posted here. The Twin Frozr II version was able to perform at a speed of 880MHZ core/ 1900MHZ mems and it was still stable. If I just have more time testing the card I think this can go as high as 900mhz for the core and maybe 2000mhz for the mems.

I've been quite fond of the Twin Frozr since I got it on my N260GTX OCSP.
Varti, do you mean a case badge? I haven't seen one from MSI since I got one with my TV@+ several years ago.

Would I just use the installer that is on this site to flash the bios, any help appreciated.
    Thanks

    Thankyou very much Svet,
The card and operating system(8.1) works perfect now.
What I did was, extract the files you gave me, and downloaded the ATIWinflash program,
then I put the .150 file in the same folder, then renamed the .150 file to a .rom file,
and used ATIWinflash to flash vbios(too lazy to go to the store), only took about 10 secs, then rebooted, and no more watermark :-),
    Thanks again for your help.
I am glad I found this site or I would probably be just living with the watermark( Then again I don't think so, it was driving me crazy)

  • MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II Random Crashes

    Hello,
I have had an MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II video card for the past year, and it has been operating without problems for most of that time. I have been slowly upgrading my computer over past 5 years, but keeping the same motherboard and CPU. A few months ago I started having issues with it:
While playing video games or browsing the internet the video drivers crash and recover after a few seconds at random times, approximately once every half an hour. 30% of the time, the card crashes and doesn't recover at all, with a black screen, prompting a restart of the system.
Last month I have rebuilt my PC: kept the same the video card, 750W power supply (both 1 year old) and all my hard drives. I reinstalled the same version of Windows 7. I made sure to take precautions against static in the process. However the problem persists.
Because I have my power button set to a restart, I am able to have the computer perform a soft reboot every time when the screen goes black, rather than forcing a hard reset, so to me this means the new CPU, Motherboard and RAM are working OK. Also on occasion switching my monitor cable between the two DVI outputs brings the image back.
Here are some of the other things I have tried so far unsuccessfully:
Updating the motherboard and bios drivers to the latest version
Using a tool to delete and reinstall latest ATI drivers (12.9)
    Using ATI beta drivers (12.11b)
Using both windows and 3rd party memory check tools (both came back OK)
Changing RAM settings from 1600 to 1333.
Underclocking the video card (although it runs pretty cold and I have a dedicated fan installed right underneath it).
I will welcome any other suggestions.
    Thank you in advance,

Here is an update on my situation:
I went out a bought a new PSU, Antec HCG-620M, but the problem didn't go away. I'm still trying to keep up with the latest drivers. However most games that require high performance (i.e. Witcher 2 out of the older, more stable games) remain unplayable due to fairly regular random video card crashes. Older games with lower specs play fine though. I have also been running SpeedFan in the background and have seen an occasional spikes in the video card's operating temperatures (as high as 81C) but crashes occur at any temperature.
    Help would still be appreciated.
    Thanks,

Hello. I've got a strange issue with my radeon 6870. Every time i play a game a small white flashes appears in random area of a screen. From 2-4 mm (Crysis, Bulletstorm and Fallout 3) to ~ 1-1,5 cm (Napoleon: Total War).I cant post a screenshot because it happens really fast  (just like someone hiding in a trees with a camera). In Crysis 2 and Bad Company 2  instead a small dots a large transparent nearly visible spots  appears from time to time.

Windows 7 Ulimate x64
All components are running at their stock speeds. Max GPU temperature i've ever seen ~78 celsius
I've tried overclock and downclock my VGA, fresh Windows install, 11.2, 11.3, 11.4 EP with no effect.
Maybe someone have got any ideas how to deal with that?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Random freeze on boot with MSI R7870 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC PCIe

    Hello everyone,
I have an issue with my MSI R7870 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC PCIe graphics card. Sometimes, on boot (before getting to BIOS, I guess during GFX BIOS, if that's a thing anymore in the computing world) the GPU fans will spin at a considerable speed (noisy, I'd say 70-100%) and the system will refuse to boot. I could reproduce this around 5 to 6 times, and always during cold boots. After this happens, rebooting or powering off and on will not work, I'll need to cut off all power (PSU switch) and cold-boot again.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot!

  • MSI GTX580 Twin Frozr 2, how to identify it?

    Hi,
I need to verify if the graphic card that is in my computer is really MSI GTX580 Twin Frozr 2, and not GTX560 or GTX570 (to check if i wasn't cheated...). I cannot identify it from the others twin frozr 2 cards since it has same cooling system and no distinct markings anywhere on the card, or at least i dont know about them. Computer still isn't functional, but will be later on today. I didnt receive card in package, but already installed in miditower case.
So plz i need fast answer, if there is any visual identification i can do, or software that i can use later today to see what graphic card it is.

    tell S/N of your card
or just run VGA software like Afterburber:

  • MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC memory clock?

I have had an MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC for about 6 months now and have used MSI Afterburner to monitor temps etc. Today I used it to lower my overclocking as others had said Ghost Recon Future Soldier doesn't crash if you take it off.
If you look at the MSI product page for the card (the forum won't let me post a link to it!?) you can see the Memory Clock Speed(MHz) says 4000 yet in Afterburner mine said 2000Mhz and the slider was in the middle. I am pretty sure there is no multiplier at work here so mine wasn't being overclocked?
Any ideas? I have reduced it down to 1800Mhz and GRFS doesn't crash anymore but can I take it up to 4000Mhz safely in future? I do not want to overload the card.

you have multiply the memory value x2 to get the effective speed

  • MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III PE/OC "No Signal"?

    Hi guys!
I've just bought the MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III PE/OC, but my monitor dosent recieve any signal at all. Both power cables are plugged in, and my PSU should be big enough to manage it.
The slot works fine with my old card, a HD 5450, so is my card faulty?
    Win 7 32 bit
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H55M USB3 rev 2.0
    Proccesor: Intel Core i5 2.80
    PSU: OCZ600MXSP 600W
    Memory: 4GB

The card has two power cables, which both are plugged in. If not, a red LED lights up in the card.
I've just removed the power cable form the mobo and removed the battery from the mobo to do a clear CMOS, but unfortunately with the same results. The fans are running, but my screens says "No Cable" and goes completely black

  • MSI N580GTX Twin Frozr II SLi Game Crashing

I bought 2 of these cards in my new system and installed the 266.58 drivers and I haven't had them work properly yet as they always seem to crash somewhere between a few seconds and 5 minutes into a game. Games include Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Just Cause 2, Metro 2033 (DX11), AVP (DX11) and Dirt 2 (DX11). I have been tearing my hair out trying to work out what the problem is. I am guessing voltage but am not sure. I have downloaded Afterburner 2.1 Beta 7 and it seems to set the cards to 822,1645, 2138 and 1.05v. I also uninstalled the newest drivers and did drier sweeper and installed 263.09 and have exactly the same problem. Svet do you have any idea on what I could try ? Many thanks in advance...

Ok so I played JC2 for about an hour and Crysis Warhead for about 30 mins and no crashes. I did experience some lag - noticable in parts of Warhead where the frames dropped considerably. Neither game was butter smooth. I am gaming at 2560x1600 with everything to the max. So do you suggest I test the other card now or is there something I can do to improve the performance of this one ? Thanks again for all your help Svet.
That one is working well then.

yes, test the second one now [also alone], with the same tests
