MSI N570GTX M2D12D5 green artifacts on graphic intense games
Hello all,
I'm hoping you guys can help me out on my issue. I have a MSI N570GTX M2D12D5 which has been crashing with green artifacts everytime I play any graphic intense games, so examples are Just Caused 2 Deux Ex - Human Evolution, Bad Company 2, and some more.
I have RMA'd the card last month believing it was actually the card causing the crashing, but now I don't believe it is. I have replaced my PSU as well due to it failing to boot-up my system. (I hope the GPU didn't cause my PSU to fail). Now everything its running fine except when I game, it crashes with the green artifacts again.
This card is stock and I haven't OC'd it yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
System Specs
-Intel Core i7 920 - stock
-Mushkin DDR3 6GB
-Consair AX750
-Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Have you tried diffferent graphics card drivers? Did you use >>Driver Sweeper<< before installing your current drivers?
Is your VBIOS the latest available? --> http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N570GTX-M2D12D5.html#/?div=BIOS (improved stability in revised version)
Thanks for the response.
The only driver i tried was from Nvidia (280.26), and its the latest driver. What other drivers can I try? I just used the Driver Sweeper and reinstalled the driver, but green artifacts still occurring. :(
As for the VBIOS, I used the live update 5 to update my card, so I'm not sure if the VBIOS was flashed. Is that the same? If not, where can I find instructions on how to flash it? Perhaps I can flash it again if not already done so.

I just want to say, out of many previous GPUs I never had to deal with this many issues. Its also very odd how my PSU suddenly failed when I installed this GPU. Luckily I can send it in for RMA.

I've had this problem since I first built this PC towards the end of March of this year. Every time I try to play games with Direct X11 enabled I can only play for about 5 minutes before I get some repeating green spots on my screen and either the program crashes to desktop or the PC just locks up. The games that I have played on all vary, Shogun 2: Total War, The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings, RIFT, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. When I disable DX11 everything runs smoothly and nothing happens. Only when DX11 is enabled.
Here is a picture of what happens http://i.imgur.com/dee0a.jpg
I have RMA cards twice, sent it back to newegg once. It seems to be a problem with this line of cards. No matter what drivers I update, or rollback, or change, nothing seems to fix this problem.
Has anyone had similar problems, or is my only option to pretty much beg Newegg to take it back long after the refund policy and get a new card?Quote from: Limond on 28-August-11, 10:19:20
I have been attempting to do that. I've followed the instructions for making the USB bootable. But when ever I go to boot, it just sits at the Windows 98 screen (30 minutes was the longest I waited)
I have already used the LiveUpdate5 from MSI, it says that all my BIOS are fully up to date.

MSI N570GTX-M2D12D5 dying again?
Hello,
I got a MSI N570GTX-M2D12D5 that was running fine until 2 week ago. Got a RMA on monday, everything was fine, played Deus EX all the week and then, same problems as the other one.
I begin to notice the problem when I'm browsing the internet, the "driver" crash and recover. Then, if I go to any game (even small game like Minecraft) or Kombustor, I see artefacts.
Now, I was trying to have the card "hold-up" until I get the new card, so I told my friend "I installed Afterburner and reduced the Memory from 1900 to 1700 and it's seems stable right now!". My friend when "The clock is supposed to be 950 Mhz". So we both think that's why my card died. Another guy come by and say "Hey, mine too is set at 1900, show I lower it?".
So, now I'm confused :
If I set Afterburner to 1900 Mhz, CPU-Z is showing 1900 Mhz clock (so 1900 x 4 = 7600 Mhz ), but GPU-Z show 950 Mhz...
If I set Afterburner to 950 Mhz, CPU-Z is showing 950 Mhz (so 950 x 4 = 3800 Mhz), but GPU-Z show 500 Mhz (and state that default should be 950 Mhz). (Also, I'm pretty slow in benchmark if I use this setting).
So, questions :
1) Who is right? Is the card supposed to run at 1900 Mhz or 950 Mhz (in Afterburner). I don't want to mess another card when I'll get the RMA back. Is 1900 Mhz OK and I just got unlucky with both card died ?
2) I'm also looking at getting a better cooling (cause maybe I'll save the next one), so I wish to buy a Zalman ZF3000F. I know that other brand still warranty the card if you have an aftermarket cooler... MSI does it ?

you mean, a bad PSU or an underpowered PSU ? specs of the PSU seems ok for the card.
I'll try it in my GF computer to see if it's working.

84C when under load for a VGA is pretty normal, they can reach up to 105C these days, without any problems, although I would recommend against running it that hot for a prolonged period of time.
I use Nvidia cards for F@H and when I had 2 GTS250's they would run against the 90C mark in summers for weeks at end and they are still functioning normal to this day.
So dont be worried too much about the 84C, as long as it stays under 90C you're fine.

nope, 97C max for his VGA -
Can my MacBook Air play graphic-intensive games?
So i'm getting MacBook Air in 2 months, and i was wondering. Can my MacBook Air play some graphic intensive games? I'm thinking of playing Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn or maybe XCOM and other games, Will i suffer occasional lag? Will the MacBook overheat? I opted for the 13-inch, Dual-core intel i5, 4GB RAM, intel HD 5000 Graphics and 128GB of storage. I'm planning to use this MacBook as my Daily Driver for computing, and that includes gaming. Any advice would help me greatly, thank you.
And eGPU is an external graphics card.
By the way a graphics card is the part of a computer that figures out how to display something on a screen. For example, if your character throws a ball, the graphics card figures out how fast the ball should move and how to display it. Your MacBook Air doesn't have a dedicated graphics card, it just has a processor which is capable of functioning as a modest graphics card.
The fourth generation Vidock is an external graphics card enclosure. It allows you to connect a desktop graphics card such as GT 640, GTX 650 or Radeon 7970 graphics cards. The 4th generation Vidock will connect to your Mac through Thunderbolt.
No, I don't have a link where you can pre-order. So far, they don't have pre-ordering. They haven't released it yet, but they'll release it sometime in the summer. They haven't even got much information about it on the Villagetronic website. But here's a link so you can check it out: http://www.villagetronic.com/g4/product-lines
There are a bunch of them, but I'm not sure which one is the one with Thunderbolt and will cost $100. I guess we'll all have to wait until they release it this summer. -
Long Load Times on Graphic Intensive Games
I'm experiencing some absurdly long load times (1-3 hours) with many games (SPORE, Portal, X:3, etc...) that I believe may be related to how graphically intensive they are. Older games with lower graphics quality (WoW, Civ 4, etc...) load up fine.
When I load any newer game the icon appears in the tray and the computer does nothing else for at least an hour, whereupon the program loads and begins playing immediately--often without any further delays or issues.
I also use Boot Camp to run Windows Vista (Ultimate 32) and experience no delays when running SPORE on Windows.

Graphics intensive games crashing constantly please help!
Hello, i have a brand new, fully updated MBP, with 4GB Ram. I have three games, Command and Conquer 3, Empire at War and Generals Zero Hour. All fully updated. All three games range from crashing intermittently, to crashing constantly. These are just two of numerous crash logs, one from empire of war and one from zero hour. Please help as it's driving me CRAZY... i've been reading forums but can't find any solution, i'm sure it's a problem with the Nvidia graphics drivers compatibility with OSX but i'm not sure. These don't even include the kernel traps i've been having when running these games, otherwise I couldn't be happier with my MBP, runs normal apps beautifully. I notice other people run games using XP, I really don't want to do this as I HATE windows!!!

You have since updated to 10.5.4 and stated that it helped. I would suggest the proper thing to do is contact technical support from the manufacturer of the games. They can be more help than anyone else. It is their job to support the products.

I heard that when using the iPhone 4S, the user can only access 200mb instead of the full 512 mb, is this true?
Any update will cause problems for a few users. And those users will rush here and post "the sky is falling" stories about their experience. The 99.99% of people who have no problems after an update won't bother to post here; indeed, most of them don't even know ASC exists. FWIW, I had no problems with iOS 7 on my 4S. Your problem is most likely not related to iOS 6, but you should probably update anyway. How well do Windows Graphics intensive games play eg. Half-life,TotalWar
I'm thinking of buying the high end McbookPro, if it can function well in Windows, as I currently use Mac OS for all business functions, but want access to online games, other games
15" Power Book Pro got enough power to run games like Battle Field 2, Half-Life 2 at comfortable 50FPS. With some tuning it can do 70FPS . This info based on 1st gen MBP and new core 2 Duo are obviously faster.

Artifacts during gaming with an MSI N570GTX OC
Hi there
I've had an N570GTX-M2D12D5/OC since early April 2011 and almost from purchase I've had problems with artifacts, weird texture colours, etc, on black ops.
I was going to RMA to my retailer but found that reseating the card seemed to completely stop the artifacts. In fact, the problem went away for several months and even under continuous, heavy use, I had no further issues.
Unfortunately, the problem has re-occurred now - about 8 times in the last 6 months - and is happening more frequently too.
I am completely at a loss as to understand what the problem is.
I have tried underclocking the card to stock speeds of a non-OC card and although this reduces the artifacts, it doesn't stop them (please note that my card is a factory OC'd version).
Any help would be gratefully received.
Thanks,
Gary

flash vbios to the latest version: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N570GTX-M2D12D5-OC.html#/?div=Download
for flash instructions see here in the bottom of the post:

I'm sorry Svet but it appears I've already got the latest BIOS.
I downloaded NV801MS.KK1, then used it with the NVFLASH utility. However, when I tried to flash the new BIOS, the current and new BIOS were the same version.
I went ahead and flashed anyway and when I rebooted to the desktop, I checked GPUz and it gives the same BIOS for the g/card as in my first post:
70.10.17.00.03
What makes you think I had the wrong BIOS?
Thanks,

Need modded bios to get my GTX 570 stable N570GTX-M2D12D5/OC
I'm getting this "d3d11 AppWindow::do swap(): device removed" on unigine heaven 2.5 benchmark.
been reading thru the forums and trying the solutions given, including flashing the newest bios from
MSI https://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/msi-nvidia-graphics-cards-from-570-580-series-read-here
still getting same error, i then tested it in another PC with same results, the only way I can get it stable is to run it
over volted @ 1013mv. afterburner default is 987mv. my question...
is this safe to run at this voltage and if so, can you mod a bios for me, which will add this as the default voltage?
as I don't want to run afterburner on every boot. my temps hit 84oc.
thank you

Display flickering during graphics intense applications
I'am using a Macbook Pro late 2011 having intel i7 processor and AMD radeon HD 6750M and 4gb RAM..
I had installed windows 7 through bootcamp and used it to play graphics intense games.. worked fine
After a while i installed different drivers for the graphics processor for ATI website, it did not perform well and after a while(means after days) it started getting a split screen and eventually went blank... i had to restart the laptop manually.. after a while windows did not boot.. I uninstalled windows and used only osX.. eventually osX(10.9) also got a slipt screen and went blank.. i restarted the laptop manually but the start screen where the apple logo shines had horizontal blue lines... yhe OS did not boot and whene i went to the recovery mode i got a death blue screen(just blue).... I took my laptop to the nearest service center(in india) .. they formatted my hard disc and reinstalled the OS.. they told me it was "an operating system crash" and no problem with the hardware... everthing went fine.. I played another game on OSX and again got the split screen.. i restarted it manually.. everything was fine.. i installed fifa 13 on my mac.. ran pretty well.. later i tried converting a video and got the same problem ...
I dont know wether it is a software or hardware problem and can i continue playing games on MAC!!??... my free service has expired and service centers here charge a lot and dont do anythimg well!!!!Welcome to Apple Support Communities
In your case, it is clear that the GPU has failed. It would be a software issue if it only happens in Windows or OS X, but it is a hardware issue if it happens in both operating systems. This was the first thing that happened to me when my iMac's GPU got damaged.
The problem of the GPU is that it is quite expensive to get it replaced, because the whole logic board has to be replaced. If you cannot afford it and you can start up in OS X, what you can do is to use gfxCardStatus and put it in integrated mode, so your Mac will only use the integrated GPU and you should not experience that problem again. However, you will notice a performance decrease in games -
Periodic lag experienced in graphics-intensive application
This lag is debilitating. So far I have only experienced it on the Windows 7 (64 bit) side of my Bootcamp partition, but I have not attempted to run such applications in the OSX side.
The Problem: About every 5.1 to 5.2 seconds, the framerate drops to a standstill. As this happens over and over again, the duration of the stutter increases until after about an hour it is equal parts smooth and lagged. Despite the increased duration, the periodicity remains between 5.1 and 5.2 seconds by my stopwatch. Eventually, the lag becomes so great that the applications become unusable.
I have found this problem in the following applications:
TERA Online
Guild Wars2
Star Wars The Old Republic
I have also found forum discussions citing the same symptoms in Diablo 3, although I have not played or installed that game on my own system.
This appears to be a common problem across all these graphics-intensive games specifically centered around the iMac. This is why I am bringing this up to the Apple community. Has anyone else seen this phenomenon? Is there a solution? I did just update the Radeon HD 4850 graphics drivers. Could that have something to do with it?Interestingly, when I turned on my computer this morning, it got stuck in the boot process. The revolvong timer under the apple logo took about three minutes to clear and then I got stuck on the blue screen that appears before you see your desktop wallpaper. I had to manually turn it off and restart it. It started fine the second time. The only thing I had done the day before was move my bootcamp folders into the privacy section of Spotlight as recommended on another forum.
When I launched bootcamp, I noticed one difference immediately: the clock was correct. I know this sounds silly, but the computer clock in Windows had been five hours off for over a week. I've had to manually set it each time I boot into bootcamp. Not today. Also today there has been no lag as I have described above. Whatever the problem was (or is), the symptoms have disappeared. I wonder if it was related to the clock, and/or Spotlight.
In any event, I also took your advice and downloaded CCleaner and performed a drive analysis, cleaned it and my registry today. I'll conduct some more tests, but so far the symptoms seem to have gone away. -
I use Premiere Pro CC to edit videos, and videos render fine when I export through Premiere Pro, but when I try to use Media Encoder CC, the video exports with weird splotches of green/purple artifacts all throughout. It almost looks like the video is glitching and having a seizure of green and purple. No idea why this happens. Could anybody help me? I use Media Encoder to export bulks of videos at a time through its queue feature, which is why I prefer to use Media Encoder for video exporting.
Please and thanks.

I was hoping that you and others might have some insight as to whether the purple and green artifacts / splotches seen in the attached screenshots (taken from 4 consecutive frames here but occurring through the entirety of the clip) could possibly have resulted from exporting video with ~ Premiere Pro CS5 or 6 ? As seen below, these splotches alternate back and forth between purple and green in every consecutive frame. I was also hoping that someone might know if this is a relatively common type of artifact and how it is caused. -
GTX 580 Twin Frozr II/OC green artifact crash
Recently I built a computer with the 580 twin Forzr II/OC. Everything is fine until I played Crysis, which crashes with green artifacts showing. Alt tabbing returns me back to desktop reporting that the driver kernel was recovered. For some reason, the problem seems to happen from the quarry onwards, so whether the game becomes more graphically intensive.
GPU-Z shows:
Log of the crash is here to download
It can crash randomly from the quarry onwards, but I've also experienced it crashing at the exact same spot with green artifacts. Restarting the level elevates it from crashing from the same spot, but the game does continue to crash.
This problem has been persistent through all drivers. I have had no other problem with other games (source games, unreal 3, Bad company2, witcher 1, new vegas, BF3 alpha), and temps appear to be fine being somewhere in the mid 70s.
I've heard issues of there being faulty Vram or the card being undervolted, but I'm not so sure!

When you say reference clocks, you mean normal clock speeds for a 580? If so, no I haven't tried that.
Oki, the PSU is suspicion if can handle the card or not..
