MSI N580 GTX TWIN FROZR II Opengl error

Hi i keep getting Opengl lost connection error (error #8) while trying to run one of my games but the card seems stable in other games. i think it might be a voltage problem but not sure.

run an "cmd", then goto extracted folder then type:
nvflash.exe -v [ENTER]
you will able to see it.
Other way is get GPU-Z ==> http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2018/TechPowerUp%20GPU-Z%20v0.5.4.html
Then save the VBIOS
Click on the icon:
Select "Save to file", and save the VBIOS to some location and remember it.
then upload it somewhere like http://www.mediafire.com/ and give the link to it

@SVet, I can do that if I get any issue. Just installed the card on a new machine and was thinking preventitive. I had heard that the N580GTX/OC had stabilitiy issues that required bios upgrades. Before I start crashing my machine, I was hoping to just go with a bios change that has worked for someone else.
It can't be used as each VGA is unique and require custom attention if issue occur.

  • TRI SLI MSI 580 GTX Twin Frozr II

    Hello everyone,
Actually running 3 x GTX 570 MSI OC, with reference cooler and getting great temps under load.
Going to change the three of them with 3 MSI 580 GTX Twin Frozr II.
I've read bad experiences with this kind of cooler and SLI.
Is it a good a idea tu run TRI SLI with this type of cooler (Twin Frozr II) or should I look for three 580 with reference cooler??
Thanks for any answers or idead.
    My specs:
    - Corsair AX1200
    - Lian Li Pc-80
    - Gigabyte X58 UD7

Thanks for the reply. I watched that video but also watched this one:
He says the cards get up to 100ºC.
I know twin frozr works better than reference wit just one card, but with TRI SLI the cards being so closed and the cooler not sending the air out of the case (like the reference cooler does), maybe not the best solution.
Trying to confirm before I buy the three of them.

  • MSI 580 GTX twin Frozr voltage / BIOS query

    Hi everyone
I was wondering what the default voltage is on the core these days for this card. I'm aware that there was a new BIOS a while back to increase it for "improved GPU stability".
I only ask as I've just had to return a Gigabyte 580 GTX OC that was not stable at the stock vid (IE. 1V). Was OK running 1.025v but I did not think / want to have to edit the BIOS myself to get it to run at stock speeds.
So... now thinking about buying the MSI 580 GTX twin Frozr but wondering what the stock GPU voltage is on cards being sold at the moment?
I've has an MSI 460 GTX HAWK for a while now and have been very happy with it (come to that... my mobo is an MSI one now as well). But don't want to have to go through a lot of heartache and wasted time again.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
Just thought that I would just say "thank you" for your assistance / comments. It is appreciated.
I did in the end purchase the MSI 580 GTX OC Twin Frozr and all would appear to be fine (2 hours of looping 3Dmark11 should = fully stable I hope). I was just a bit windy having gone through the hassle of purchasing one make of card and having to return it.
The default voltage according to Afterburner is 1.038v, a fair bit higher than the Gigabyte card. I've also noticed that the default fan profile is a fair bit less aggressive than on the 460 HAWK, so don't feel that I need to set one up myself for the 580 (like I did for the 460 HAWK).
So all told pretty happy at the moment.
    Thanks again
test it more deeper, look here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=148285.msg1102468#msg1102468

It's not brand related, its luck and draw depend of unit itself.

if 2cm is the current away distance from the cooler, the newer card wont fit and with this CPU cooler.
Solution = Change the CPU cooler to more normal one that will not enter in VGA's personal space...
A normal CPU cooler should be not such large to enter and spread above the video card personal space....

  • N580 gtx Twin Frozr II - Suddenly dead

    Dear all,
Thank you so much for looking at my post, and I hope anyone will be able to help me with this issue.
I have a n580gtx TwinFrozr II that worked fine until now..
WHile I was playing a low spec game ( not much graphic involved) the computer restarted. and from that second onward I was not able to see the screen anymore.
I changed the graphic card and everything work fine.
I have tried to plug the card in another computer, but in that case the bios didnt even started and I have to unplug everything from the motherboard and replug it to reuse the computer again.
I would like to know if this is a known issue and if there is any way to repair the board at a reasonable price.
Thank you so much for your help.

have you tested the card in another PC yet?

  • MSI GTX Twin Frozr 780 Fan not spinning

    Hello ,
Ive had the GTX twin frozr 780 for 5 months now and every 10 to 20 cold start ups of the PC (sometimes more sometimes less) ,the left hand fan will fail to spin causing the other fan to spin at full speed. Rebooting the PC does not correct it, i have to take the side off the PC and gently tap the fan to get it spinning again, then put the side panel back on, i have put up with this for 5 months now and now had enough of it as it seems to be happening more often.
Please help as this little problem is now becoming very annoying.
When i purchased the msi 780 i got 2 off them to run in sli and the other 780 is fine and has no problems.
Ive been a good customer and have bought 4 top end msi graphics cards in the last few years and this is the only one that i've had a problem with.
When i try and rise a RMA with the place of purchase (DABS.COM) it say on there website that i have to return it back to the manufacturer , but when i try to use the msi website returns service its say that i have to return to the place of purchase ..... please could someone help as this is getting very frustrating now
    many thanks Jason

Just got off the phone with dabs.com  and there sending a courier in the morning to pick it up for R.M.A .
    Thanks for your help.
PS just out of interest have you heard of anyone other people with the same issue, as it is very intermittent and was a bit worried that they may not replace it if they can't replicate the fault.

  • MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II OC causes system to freeze

I'm having occassional freezes with my GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr OC (system completely stops responding while display and sound freeze and it takes around 5 seconds for the PC to respond to reset button ie. to reboot). This happens, for example, under Windows 7 in 3DMark11 Deep Sea Demo and in Windows XP randomly, but most often in web browser when watching Adobe Flash content with hardware acceleration enabled? Maybe BIOS update could help? Thank you in advance.
My system specs are as follows:
    Intel i5 2500k
    MSI P67A-C43 Rev1.0
    EXCELERAM 2x2GB E30101B (XMP selected in BIOS - 1600MHz)
MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II OC
WD Caviar Blue WDC WD5000AAKX-001CA 500GB Sata 3.0
Dual Boot: Windows XP Pro SP3 32-bit updated / Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit updated
    OCZ Stealth Xstream OCZ500SXS 500W +12V1~18A +12V2~18A, +5V~30A, +3.3V~30A

This is strange! I've just discovered that if I turn off C6 state (it's no problem to leave c states enabled, only need to set c state limit to C2) the freeze issue is gone. I guess my i5 2500k doesn't like c6 state or there is some kind of incompatibility between Intel C states and Windows or MSI P67A-C43 is ready for another BIOS update after version 1.9. What do you think Svet? After some quick googling on this issue I found out that Nehalem CPUs had somewhat similar problem.

  • New to AMD - MSI HD 7970 Twin FrozR OC BE Temps

    Card in question - http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R7970-TF-3GD5-OC-BE.html#/?div=Specification
For the last few years I have a series of Nvidia cards and my last card, GTX570 SOC Windforce, which was pretty heavily overclocked would sit around about 80 degrees under load.
Today my MSI HD 7970 Twin FrozR OC BE arrived and all I've done so far is to install the latest CCC/drivers and try Heaven/Valley and play some Payday 2. In the benchmarks and in PD2 the card will hit 97 degrees which to an AMD novice like me concerned me a little.
I was advised to install MSI Afterburner 3.0.0 Beta 15 and try running Valley once more. I'd guess the ambient temp in the room is about 25 degrees and the card started at an idle temp of 40 degrees. Here's the results -
Obviously it's not as high as 97 degrees but I'm not sure if that's because the newer version of Afterburner is more accurate and/or it's simply down to the relatively high fan speed (which was quite audible).
So I guess what I'm asking is -
A, Nothing to worry about, just enjoy the card
B, I've made an obvious error somewhere
C, The cards faulty and needs to be RMA'd.
Finally is that voltage correct? Should it be that high?

If I change the voltage to 1180mV load temps are a more respectable 72% but the fans spin up to 77% or about 3600rpm which seems excessive.
This review - http://www.overclockers.com/msi-hd-7970-tfiii-oc-boost-edition-review - which incidentally also shows a vcore of 1256mV states the following -
"With the fan control set to auto, the highest temperatures we saw was 71 °C. The fan hit around 45% to do it and was pretty silent"
The only way I can get close to this is to "undervolt" the card as you suggested and my fans are a good 30% faster than they experienced. For what it's worth I'm using a Corsair 600T SE with a 200mm Bitfenix Spectre Pro front intake, a 120mm Corsair exhaust and a Corsair H100 in the roof with 2 * 120mm exhaust fans. All fully cable managed. As a result I don't think poor airflow or a poor case can be attributed to the poor results I'm seeing so far.

  • MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC: Graphical Glitches/Corruption

Hello, I bought and installed an MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC video card one week ago. For the last week, it has been running perfectly, but today when I started up a game the 3D graphics began glitching and showing random stretched triangles and distorted models. While the 3D graphics are running, the monitor randomly loses signal from the video card and occasionally the program will crash with a popup bubble stating that the NVIDIA driver has recovered from a problem.
After reading through some posts here, I downloaded the MSI Afterburner program, enabled voltage monitoring, and set everything to defaults.
    The defaults are:
    Core Voltage: 1000 mV
    Core Clock : 880 MHz
    Shader Clock : 1760 MHz
    Memory Clock : 2100 MHz
When I click the button to run a Kombuster stability test, the 3D has the same graphical glitches that I saw in my games. Here is a screenshot:
    http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww333/MP64x2/corrupted_880.jpg
I tried lowering the Core Clock speed and retrying the test. It appears that the level of corruption is proportional to the clock speed. At the minimum clock speed of 440 MHz, the graphics are almost perfect, however a glitch or two will still occasionally show up.
Here is the test at Core Clock = 705 MHz: http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww333/MP64x2/corrupted_705.jpg
    and at 440 MHz: http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww333/MP64x2/corrupted_440.jpg
    - I've tried bumping up the Core Voltage a little to around 1020 mV, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.
    - Lowering the Memory Clock also reduces glitches, but they never go away completely.
    - Even at the absolute minimum clock settings, my games still glitch and crash.
    - I do not have access to another system that I can try the video card in.

As I type this I'm starting to get corruption right on my desktop too, with random pixels changing color and black rectangles appearing on applications.
From what I've read in other threads, it seems like my power supply may not be sufficient since it has multiple 12V rails, but before I spend ~$100 on a new one I thought I'd see if anyone had any other thoughts.

I have an interesting update on my original problem.
A week after I reseated the card, the graphical glitches returned. I turned the computer off, reseated the card again, turned it on, and it began working fine.
Another week goes by with no problems, and then a couple days ago the glitches came back. Thinking it strange that the card could somehow take approximately the same amount of time to cause the same kind of bad connection, I wondered if there was something else that was causing the glitches to temporarily disappear.
I tried rebooting my computer, but the glitches remained.
I then completely turned off my computer and pulled out the power cord and left it for a couple minutes. I didn't open the case at all and made sure not to do anything that would bump any components. I turned the computer back on - glitches are gone once again.
So, it would seem that it may in fact have something to do with the power supply and not any bad connections with the card itself - at least, that's the best guess I have at the moment. I leave my computer on 24/7 so it seems like it doesn't like being left on for an entire week with this new video card installed.
Does this sound sensible? Is it possible for a power supply to slowly fail over several days, only to start working again after being powered down for a couple minutes?
Did you ever figure your issue out?  I have the exact same issue.  My system runs fine for almost a week...and then my desktop starts artifacting.  The only way it goes away is to unplug my pc (or flip the switch on PSU).  Then it runs again perfectly for nearly a week again and I start getting artifacts and the message stating that the graphics driver has stopped working and then recovered.
I also run my pc 24/7 and this problem is getting very annoying!  My PSU shouldn't be a problem as I have the PC & Cooling 750W...
Oh...almost forgot.  I've seen the same issue on 2 video cards now.  RMA'd the first one and the second one does the exact same thing...
