MSI Neo-fsr motherboard won't post help!!!!!

Okay so I got the parts yesterday and I put it together and when I turn it on it won't post. Not only that but everything seem to be powered up except for the video card the fan isn't spinning. It was a 9700 pro. Then I took my brothers Geforce MX and tried it and it still won't post. I mounted the motherboard correctly it is definitely not grounded to anything. I connected the D-bracket and all four red light show up. But my cpu is brand new out of the retail box.  I don't think its the cpu. So any body got any ideas?
Here are my spec:
Athlon 64 3000+
1 gig OCZ el memory
MSI neo fsr
9700 pro

I had a similiar problem:

The mainboard got replaced and now it works.
It's not certain however that it's the mainboard in your case.

  • MSI P67A-C43 B3 won't POST with Full RAM Installed

    Hello all,
I recently purchased the MSI P67A-C43 B3 mainboard as a custom build
and have been having trouble with it.  I have 16GB of ram for this board
(4x 4GB) and when I have 8GB installed (slots 1 and 3 filled), it POSTS fine.
When I fill ALL the slots for 16GB total, the board won't POST and just
power cycles ON and OFF and ON and OFF, etc...
I have replaced the memory and the PSU and am about to replace the
mainboard, but wanted to ask if anyone might have a suggestion for
    troubleshooting before I do that.
Here's what I'm running on the system:
    mainboard:  MSI P67A-C43 B3
proc: Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4Ghz Unlocked
proc cooler: Corsair Hydro H80 CPU Liquid Cooler
ram: Corsair High Perform Vengeance 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz2x4  (4 of these)
HDD: OCZ TECHNOLOGY 120GB VERTEX PLUS SSD and Seagate 1TB LP Serial ATA HD 5900/32MB/SATA-3G
CD Drive: Sony Optiarc 24X DVDRW SATA
video: EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti FPB 1024MB GDDR5 PCB PCIe
PSU: Thermaltake 750W Modular Power Supply. 80+ Bronze
case: Thermaltake Chaser MK-I Full Tower Gaming Case
OS:  Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64Bit DVD
Any ideas here would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

OK, had some time to go test your suggestions here
These are the 1.5V Vengeance RAM Modules.  Tried installing 2 of the RAM on slots 2 and 4 on their own.  System Boots Fine.
Went into the BIOS and changed the voltage applied to the RAM modules from
AUTO to 1.575V.   On AUTO it says is applying 1.5V to the 2x 4GB modules.
Installed the full 4x RAM on all slots... and the system just shuts down.  Power cycling again.
What do you think here?  Bad Motherboard?  Can't think of anything else to try...  totally stumped!
    Thanks!

  • MSI X99 SLI Plus - Won't Post

    I've got:
    Motherboard: MSI X99 SLI Plus
    Processor: Intel Core i7-5820K
    Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-2400
Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX
It's a new build and I can't get it to post. When I try to turn it on, a red LED located next to the 24 pin ATX power connector comes on and will not go off until I cut the power at the Power Supply. I can't find anything online concerning the red LED. Is it some overvoltage protection? An issue with the memory? I'm at a loss trying to diagnose this. Please see the images below:

    Hello.
I'm having the exact same issue.
My computer was running with no issues for over 1 month and today when i tried to start it this exact issue happened.
The lights on the rest of the motherboard are working (CMOS, Power, OC Genie) but it won't post.
I have tried to reset the CMOS, re-seated and tried various configurations for the RAM, tried both BIOS and OC Genie on and off and the issue remains.
Could this be a PSU issue? If so, would the remaining lights work?
Anyone else had this issue and how did you fix it?
    Thank you in advance!

  • KM4M won't post HELP!

I have a KM4M-L board. This is actually the 2nd one that I've gotten, neither of them are able to POST.
The board is outside of the case right now, the only thing connected to it is the wire for the speaker, the big PS connector and the smaller 4 pin connector from the power supply. When I power the machine up I get one long beep, no video.
Right now there is a XP2000+ CPU in it, with a PC2700 Mushkin stick. I've swapped the memory to a PNY PC2700 stick, same thing. I swapped out the original power supply for a new Antec 300W unit, same thing. I don't have another CPU handy so I can't swap that.
What's the deal here? I bought the same setup a couple of weeks ago, had the same issue and sent it back. The new stuff (CPU, board, RAM) that they sent me is having the same exact issue.
FWIW, here's the info from the Power Supply:
    +5V: 30A
    +12V: 15A
    +3.3V: 20A
    -5V: 0.5A
    -12V: 0.5A
    +5V SB: 2.0A
Any and all help would be appreciated before I fling this thing across the backyard like a frisbee.

I have had 2 of these boards do this recently.  I have used dozens of them with no troubles.  Starting in Mid June I have had 2 of these boards act at least similarly to yours.  One of them worked for a week, then one day Windows crashed (like that's a shocker   ) and from then on when you powered it on, everything started except no POST at all, no beeps, no video, nothing.  The other one was DOA right from the vendor, one long beep, but no video.  If you pulled the memory, it would not beep at all, and it should have given 3 beeps signifying a memory problem.  First system was with an Athlon XP 2200+, second system was with an Athlon XP 2600+.  We even have a "testbed" with a A+GPB 500Watt ATX power supply, monitor, keyboard, video and momentary-on power-switch so we can test for case-problems.
Wondering if MSI got a batch of questionable capacitors from somewhere that's causing them problems.  I even "bridged" the power-on pins while the ATX connector was plugged in and neither would POST.  Still waiting for my first board to come back from MSI RMA, but a replacement board from the vendor for the second one worked right away.  Both motherboards were "date-coded" 0404 and the one working replacement was 0504 (or was that 0405).

  • Ms 6534 motherboard won't post

I recently got a MS 6534 motherboard from a Ebay seller that sells lots of computer components. It was listed as new or refurbished from MSI. The board actually looks great and was packaged professionally, but I can not get it to POST. Once I press the power button, the CPU fan spins for a couple seconds, the keyboard lights for a moment, but I get no video, or beeps, and that is it.
The following items make up my system:
Pentium 4  1.5 Ghz processor (used, purchased from reputable dealer, supposed to be tested)
    Vantec CPU fan (new)
2 sticks Infineon 128MB PC133 Ram (tested in another machine)
unknown case with 400 watt supply (used)
Western Digital 120GB ATA100 hard drive (new)
BFG Geforce FX5500 oc AGP 8x/4x video card (new)
Top G  CD Rom drive (working removed from another machine)
    Samsung CR RW (new)
Keyboard & Mouse (works on several other systems)
I have tried a new Ultra 500 watt power supply, just to confirm that the power supply was not the problem. I have tried using only one stick of the memory, and both sticks work perfect in another machine. I have disconnected all devices except the power supply, video card, ram, keyboard and mouse, with only the power button connected, all other case wires disconnected, and it does exactly the same thing. I tried a MX 4000 PCI video card, just grasping at straws. I have tried clearing the CMOS, but nothing seems to work.
I am thinking that I must have a bad motherboard, but I'd sure like to hear what some of you think.

you have cpu fan connected into mother board properly. that one thing that caused me caos on my motherboard to cause that . If that works for you then make sure the graphics cards in the right spot. The board i bought had a sticker over it taking a tech to pull the sticker off and that being the slot for graphics card. I hope my faults help you unfault .

Have allready tried a different CPU/w no luck.
Removed all other hadware components except CPU and Memory with no luck.   Diagnostic LED's stay on 4R's pointing to CPU.
Have allready tried reseting BIOS on motherboard.

    Any Help Would Be Great!
    Thanks Pete

My MSI Neo2-FISR 865 board was working fine out of the box.  Then a couple of days later I'm browsing online and my screen goes blank.  A reboot results in a loud siren/klaxon type sound where the mobo keeps beeping and beeping (never heard a beep code like it before!)
I check all my connections, worried that the problem is my graphics card (ATI all-in-wonder 9700 pro) and still no luck.
I find these forums and read about the d-bracket and how the four LED's will light up and help you figure out your problem.  I install it and find all four are lit RED, meaning there's a problem with my cpu.
I test my cpu in another system and it works JUST FINE!  I test the cpu from that system on my MSI board, and it doesn't work.  I try swapping my Corsair XMS on the MSI for Geil from my other system, no help.
After testing my components from the MSI system on my other system, there is nothing wrong with them.  I can only conclude that since others have had the MSI board report a false problem with their CPU or whatnot, that there is something definetly wrong in the design of this board.  After only a couple of days it dies on me!  :(
I'm RMA'ing it back to newegg.com and getting an Intel 865PERL instead, at least Intel boards are known for their rock-solid stability.  It's too bad, I really wanted to like this board.  :(
    P4 2.4C Ghz w/800mhz FSB
    512MB of Corsair XMS 3200 (dual-channel)
    120GB Seagate w/8mb cache
    ATI All-In-Wonder 9700 Pro 128mb
    Plextor Plexwriter Premium CD-RW 52x32x52
500W Vertiglow Powersupply (modded with red LED fans)
Oh yeah, and I also tried clearing the CMOS, and that did not help either.

  • MSI Neo-FSR looking good

Well I couldn't quite get my Neo Plat stable with the OCZ PC3200 Plat rev2 so I decided to purchase the cheaper FSR. Also picked up a nice 3200+ NC with CG core. So far here are my results. Looped 3dmark 10 and 2hrs of online gaming with no crashing. Not a really big fan of Prime95 so prolly won't go there.
Will throw my 3700+ back in later this week to see if I can duplicate these results with the extra cache.
Oh yeah using bios 1.5b2 with 2.85v vdimm and 1.7v vcore.

mrbell84, the stepping on this 3200+ ends with AX meaning its a CG core which normally clocks higher than the CO's. Also the week is 0416 and seems to be a very good chip but there's alot like these out there. Here's the link and exact stepping where I purchased mine.

To be honest I'll be lucky to get another 50mhz out of it with water. My experience tells me even the best aircoolers can OC just as well if not higher than H2O.

  • MSI P6N Sli Platinum won't Post with E8500

Ok, I've been pulling my hair out on this one off and on for a couple of weeks, and I figured I'd finally just post here and hope for some advice.
I recently bought a C2D E8500 CPU on newegg to replace the E6420 I currently have running in my system.  The motherboard is a P6N SLI Platinum with the v1.7 Bios.  The problem is that whenever I swap the E8500 in for the E6420 the computer powers on, fans start spinning, and then it just sits.  No beeps, no lights, nothing.  When I put the E6420 back in the whole thing boots up just fine.  I've cleared the CMOS two different ways (removing the battery and hitting the CMOS reset button), and nothing seems to help.  I have tested the CPU in another machine, and it works just fine.  The MSI tech support has told me that the problem shouldn't be happening, and has suggested that I RMA the board to them.  I'd rather not be without my computer for 3-4 weeks, so I figured I'd post here and see if anyone had any advice before I pull the whole system apart and send the MB in.
    PSU is a 700W OCZ
Graphics Card is EVGA 9800GT 512MB
    Ram is 4GB AData
Let me know if anyone sees any obvious problems.
    Tim

I please have a look here:

Sending the board to MSI to be serviced is probably your only option to solve this.

  • MSI Media Live DIVA won't POST

I have an MSI Media Live DIVA I can't get to POST, show any video indication, keyboard indication, or beeps from the motherboard with or without RAM.  I have tried it both in the case and sitting on a static bag.  I need some suggestions before I contact MSI for a replacement.
Also, the system has never been booted (all new parts) and my other systems in the house aren't AM2 so I haven't been able to test the CPU to make sure it works.
    Anyone have any thoughts?

Try with another CPU from the compatibility list{Not Phenom} ==> http://global.msi.eu/index.php?func=prodcpusupport&maincat_no=134&cat2_no=&cat3_no=&prod_no=1654#menu
See if you can post, then update the BIOS to the latest one ==> http://global.msi.eu/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=134&prod_no=1654

  • New motherboard won't post

Just picked up a 865 Neo 2 today.  I got sick of my SiS 655's inability to overclock with any kind of stability.  Get home, put it all together, and the damned thing won't turn on.  I'm using a
    2.53ghz  533 FSB
    64mb radeon 8500
    corsair xms 3200
    350 watt smartblue pwr supply
When I turn it on, the videocard fan spins, which indicates that some power is flowing through the mobo.  Nothing comes onto the monitor however, and my little 4 LED thing shows it stopping at step 2, which is chipset initialization.  I put my proc back into the 655 board and it posts fine.   I've put my finger to the processor when its in the Neo 2 and it doesn't even warm up, which is odd.   Maybe I just got a bad board?   any ideas?

Uppon Power up Try force Posting it by Holding down the Both the Ctrl and the home Keys (at the same time). and if this allows you to get by the Initiating Stage, enter the BIOS Set your DRAM to 2.65 Volts in the BIOS. And then try Posting...If this does Not Work Clear the C-MOS with the J-BAT1 Jumper (Read Guide)..........Sean REILLY875

  • MS-6728 v2.0 865PE Motherboard won't POST or BOOT

I was given a computer years ago by a close friend.
    msi.com/product/mb/865PE-Neo2-P-Platinum-Edition.html
It ran fine for many years and then one day it just shut down while I was using it and no matter what I do I cant get it to boot.Ive taken the following steps to troubleshoot the problem.
When it boots the fans, video card fans, hard drive, CD rom, and case all get power and light up.Sometimes it beeps sometimes it doesnt.
    1) rest CMOS with jumpers and CMOS battery Short
    2) taken about the case and disconnected all parts and looked for bad capacitors, burn marks, or dust
    3) disconnected the CD drive, hard drive and any other non essential parts (floppy,cd drive, hard drive, extra fans) to boot with just ram (tried different ram), Video Card (tried different video cards), and even tried a different PSU.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?I have other computers to use during this process so taking it apart again is no problem.
    Thanks in advance

Just list the hardware components. You don't have to change the signature.
Those symptomes could point to poor heatsink contact with cpu. Could also be a bad cpu, corrupt bios. Difficult to pinpoint.
    Could also be motherboard shorting.
Best to test on cardboard outside case. Minimal build.
    MOBO: MS-6728 v2.0 865PE
    Bios:    cant find out
VGA:    AMD Radeon HD 2600 PRO 512MB AGP
    PSU:    Mad Dog SurePower MD-350WPS
    CPU:    SL6PP (Intel Pentium 4 2.6 GHz)
    MEM:   patriot PSD1G4003KH PC3200 Cl3 2x512mb
    HDD:   Western Digital WD1200
    FAN:    Gigabyte G-Power Pro
    OS:      Windows 64bit Professional
The computer ran fine for many years. The heatsink was firmly seated and plenty of thermal paste applied. I already tested a different Processor that is compatible. But Ill put them both into my working computer and double check them.
If the bios is corrupt, how do I put a good one on the computer if it wont POST? Floppy?CDROM disk with utilities?Bootable USB with Repair Utilities?
How do I find out if the motherboard is shorting out?I have time, tools, and a multimetter.Im ready to do this. Its been sitting in a box for years waitying for me to fix it

first suspect is the BIOS on the board! for that CPU it needs at least Version B1 (11.1) for a Richland CPU to be supported...
if you do not know what BIOS version your board has tell us the Serial Number of the board so we can tell you if thats the issue or not? (that is on the UPC label on the box it came in or on a sticker on the rear of the motherboard!)
