MSI NEO2-FR USB "problem"

Hy, i just bought this mobo, and it works nicely so far. The only irritating thing is the USB's power missing after i shut the pc down. I usually charge my mouse batteries from USB, so i kinda need it to have a working mouse the next day. Reading some posts i found out MSI doesn't really have a solution for this, "some" boards "might" have a jumper wich can enable power on these ports... etc. Well anyways, does this board have this jumper, or any BIOS setting that might help turning the power on after pc shutdown?
Ty.

Well, I know there is power going to mainboard, as my Intel NIC is lit when system is off............
I haven't had need to use usb port for charging after system shutdown.............
I will check later when I shutdown systems, and see if mobile phone will charge........... (Usb to micro usb)

  • MSI Z87M Gaming (Usb problem)

    Hello,
In Device Manager i see "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller) is not working. Every USB device i own works with the new motherboard, except my Razor onza (360 controller) that is wired. I tried installing the driver from Microsoft, i also tried troubleshooting, but nothing works. I have downloaded the Intel USB 3.0 driver from the MSI site for my MOBO and now i'm wondering if there is something i'm missing.
I really need some help on this one..
    Cheers!

The PC now starts and work but I am still worried this is going to cause problems to my other components. Motherboard is still in its early life. Bought in December and finished the build last week.
So you got it working ? What did you change?
How old is that power supply? In theory that PSU is sufficient, however if it's been around the block and after a couple of years, PSU performance deteriorates and that could cause failed starts. The reason for asking is that the VX series manufacture was discontinued quite some time ago.
    Also see this article  http://www.anandtech.com/show/6953/sea-sonic-and-corsair-power-supplies-certified-for-haswell
Corsair has not confirmed that the VX series will be fully compatible with Haswell as it is no longer in production. It may or may not work.

you say recently, does this mean it was working fine before?
can you test this headset in another computer?
Yes it was working just fine before, this issue started happening a couple of weeks ago but I've had this setup for almost a year now.
I also don't readily have access to another computer to try it out on and testing it on another computer would be a bit of an issue because this only happens like once or twice a day after long hours of gaming.

That's about the only relevant information I could find regarding this issue.
I would try the headset out on another computer. This would allow you to verify if the headset is the problem, or if the motherboard/USB ports are the problem.
I've checked out the link and my gamecoms were also configured for 5.1 surround sound, I reconfigured it to 7.1 surround sound so hopefully this is the solution. Also again I don't readily have access to another computer to test this out.
Hopefully this fixes it, thank you both for the replies and I will update you if the problem goes away or if it still occurs.

  • K8N Neo2-54G: USB problem + other probs

This board is really giving me a headache.
I installed my new system yesterday, and all worked for a little while. It seemed very slow booting, and sometimes it did not want to proceed from the first screen, Platinum, requiring a restart. It usuallt booted on a second attempt.
I upgraded the bios to modded 1.37. After this it wont recognise any USB devices (keyboard and mouse attached).
I now tried to do a reinstall after flashing back to 1.36 bios. I attached my floppy, press F6 when XP setup is initialized, but when I am requested to put in my sata floppydisk, the pc can't read the disk. Seems like either my floppy is dead (seems to work ok according to lights and noice) or the MB can't communicate with it. (similar to usb devices).
    Questions:
    1. What is wrong with the USB?
    2. How can I install sata drivers for XP without floppy?
    3 Is the board dead?
My ram is OCZ PC 3200 512MB EL Dual CH Platinum rev.2 (only one stick of 512mb installed now), CPU is Winchester 3200+, Samsung 1614C sata disk.
I upgraded nvidia drivers to 5.10
    Pls help!

I also just bought board yesterday and I agree that there are many problems, which are not helped by the very poor manual. You have to rely on forums for basic information. I too am having a problem installing the raid drivers from the A drive. I have the same ram (PC 3200 512MB EL Dual CH Platinum rev.2) coutesy of Asentech and a Athlon FX55. The operating CD has Windows XP +SP2 deployed and when I tried to load the drivers I got the message ' Filetextsetup.oem caused an unexpected error (1024) at line 1747 in d:\xppsprtm\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c' This corrupted my A disk and I had to down load files from the following site
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_list.php?part=1&kind=4&CHIP=4&ID=1
I guess that the drivers are niot compatible with WinXP SP2 . I am now at a loss and will try just Windows XP. Anybody any ideas on how to proceed?

  • MSI 6368 with USB problem (URGENT)

I have an urgent need to solve this problem.
Client has a computer based on this motherboard, with Celeron 1.1 Ghz, WIN 98 Second Edition.
The USB port works with a Microsoft mouse. Client tries to install a Canon digital camera (D60), but the USB port cannot see the camera.
Is there something I should be doing?
    Thanks a lot

try a different cable?  Not sure about Canon but they might need a program that they supply with the camera to move the files off of the camera.  Sort of like MP3 players and how they ship with their own proprietary software to move files onto the player and etc.

  • MSI Neo2-FR Raid problems help plz

ok well me and msi are not getting along...well i'm tring to install a raid-0 ...in the bios i changed it to boot raid instead of ide....then i went and made a raid 0 array...well i go to try to install windows and i press f6...then when its time to install the drivers from the floppy, it dont see the dam drivers on the floppy so i can get no further...and its weird because from the time i boot up the comp the floppy light stays lit the whole time whether there is a floppy in or not...it did not do that on my other motherboard...msi is a weird board...im ready to break it....can anyone help here

If you can't get your floppy drive/disk to work properly with Windows Setup, you can integrate the ICH9R RAID drivers into a self-made install CD using NLITE or XP ISO BUILDER.  Both tools are easy to use and the procedure shouldn't take longer than 15-20 Minutes.

  • K8N Neo2 Platinum USB problem

I just got this board a little bit ago and love it but non of the USBs work. I plugged my joystick in which worked for a bit till I unplugged it but now it just comes up as unknown device. I have also tried to connect my mp3 player and gamepad but nothing except and windows message of unknown device. Also the usb ports that you connect to the board wont work or my front usbs. Now non of these devices needed drivers on my last pc so im lost. Iv tried to install the usb drivers from the cd but it only works with sp1.

I don't know whether to laugh at this or scratch my head about all the times I get shocked by static electricty in the wintertime. Does anybody believe this?
    "Static Issues
The product is good for the price, but it's got some really frustrating issues that only MS tech support knows about, but I wanted to let you all know. I called tech support 'cause I wanted to return what I thought was a bad joystick. When I talked to Evan, he told me that the base causes some USB static issues. He suggested that you place it on something anti-static like a mousepad. (I am gonna try an anti-static bag like you get when you buy computer hardware)"
If your computer stops recognizing it...
    unplug the joystick.
    Shut your computer down.
    Disconnect your computer's power source.
Plug your stoystick in and out a few times then leave it plugged in.
    Reconnect the Computer's power.
    Restart your computer.
That should release the static charge.

  • MSI KT6V-LSR USB problems

The on-board USB ports on my MOBO are doing nothing. I've tried multiple devices from mice to cameras to printers and I get nothing from them. All the drivers are installed and up-to-date. I've tried to get an RMA for this but so far I've had no luck. Any ideas?

Have you insured they are enabled in BIOS?
Just the ports made on the board, or have you hooked up to the USB headers as well? If you have hooked up to the USB headers on the board, for front USB ports, make sure the connections are all correct, and only use 8 wires per header. If the front USB cables have 9 wires, it can cause this type of error.

  • MSI Neo2-FIS2R DRAM Problems

Hi, I just noticed today that my memory is running at 333MHz (memtest86 lists 320MHz...)  Now I have 400MHz memory in there and my processor being a 3.0C has an 800MHz (or 200) FSB.  I've manually set the memory in the BIOS to 400MHz from auto, but it seems to just not care.  I'm running BIOS 2.5 (latest as far as I know, from 9/29/04).  I was just recently having problems with one stick of memory so I removed that, and it's since the removal that I've noticed the issue.

hmm... what if you set to SPD?

  • MSI P35 Neo2-FR S3/USB Problems & Remote Desktop Video Problem

I recently received a new board back from RMA (my old one wouldn't post at all) and decided to re-install Windows XP back on it after verifying that it was working, and now I'm having a few issues with the board that were fine and working with the old board.
Firstly, I used to wake the system up from sleep using my USB keyboard when hitting "enter". Now it won't wake up with usb, and occasionally when waking it up with the power button, either my mouse or keyboard will not respond (both are USB). I then need to put the system back to sleep using the power button (I have xp set to sleep when pushed) and wake it up again to get the USB devices working. I have re-installed Windows XP, changed the ACPI BIOS settings to wake up using all devices, enabled/disabled legacy USB, downgraded the BIOS to 1.8 which I was running on my old board, and tried every USB slot on the board, all while running the exact same hardware that was on my previous board. Any help?
Secondly, I have the board/windows set to wake from S3 when attempting to reach it remotely. I can login fine, but when I get home to check the system, the screen is black. It's still running, and I can reach it again through RDC, but I can't seem to wake it up locally. The only way to correct the screen is by hitting the power button to put it to sleep, and then hitting it again to get it out of S3. This seems like a videocard issue, and I have tried using older versions of the nvidia driver but I always seem to have the same problem. Oddly, when I run tests at home using my laptop everything is fine and the video is displayed after logging off, but it seems to only be happening when I'm using it from my work computer. I would need to run some more tests to verify this though, and I assume that after some time using my laptop it would do the same thing. (the tests were run going outside of the lan and coming back in, from an S3 state). Video card drivers I tried were, 178.24 (oct. 15th), 178.13 (sep. 25th), 175.16 (may 13th).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply kourosh. I have used both the 1.9 (latest) and downgraded to the 1.8 BIOS that I was using on the board pre-RMA as stated in my initial post. It just doesn't make sense that I had everything working properly with the old board, and with the new board that I received back from MSI, things just don't work. I'm using the exact same hardware and have done multiple re-installs with different drivers etc.
I doubt that part two is a networking problem as I stated in my initial post that I'm testing by going outside of the LAN and coming back in from outside. I think it has more to do with waking it up remotely multiple times (eg. wake up remotely-->sleep-->wake up again-->sleep again-->possible black screen error), but I haven't had the time to do all of the testing.
I just find it strange that these things are not working as they were, and I'm beginning to blame the board again as I know how they SHOULD be working on the same exact board.
Anyway... thanks again for the reply.

  • Msi z77a-g45 usb 3.0 Problem

    Hi
I have just bought 2 new Seagate eksternal harddisk USB 3.0 2TB and I have a problem. I connected them to the power supply and the usb 3.0 ports and it works as it should but when I reboot or shut down and come back to windows they are not identified by windows and I have to unplug the power supply and put it back in for windows to identify them. That is of course very unpractical. I tried to to use the usb 2.0 ports instead and then windows had no trouble identifying the harddisk at reboot/shutdown. I looked in device manager an there were exclamation marks on two "USB mass storage devices" before windows identifies the harddisk and no exclamation mark when I replug to the power supply. I then updated to the latest usb 3.0 drivers from this site but it didn't help. Btw when I start the computer I can see that bios has recognised the harddisk. So maybe its a windows problem?
Is this an common issue and are there an simple solution?
    Thanks in advance.

Attached is a beta bios sent from MSI.

They say they cannot duplicate the problem though. Here is the test they did, let me know what they can do to trigger this.
    1.   Install System driver and reset
    2.   Connect USB HDD to USB 3.0 port. The device can be recognized.
    3.   Reboot the system
    4.   Check Computer and still can find the USB HDD
    5.   Power off the system
    6.   Power on and check Computer.

    WIN7 64 bit
