MSI Nightblade

Hi, after reading he msi nightblade review I have some questions. It says the optional 4000rpm fan with that special case is designed for when you house a R290x but what I wonder is let's say I use a Corsair H60 water cooling instead of the supplied cooler as it makes too many noise, can you use the case and put the radiator plus fan in there? Or can you remove that special case and use the space there to house the radiator plus fan or you really need this case to even be able to place a fan?
I want to buy it but it's too noisy so I sent to adjust the cooling a bit. Please let me know

Very nice case, looks well set up.....would not mind to have one my self

• MSI Nightblade z87 question

Would the MSI GTX 670 OC Edition fit inside the MSI Nightblade z87?
Also, the Z87 nightblade comes with a 600w PSU, right?
and, does the Nightblade z87 012-BUS come with the special CPU cooler?
Thanks.

Hi
According to the spec available >>HERE<<:
1. Card is of dimensions: 242x111x38 mm and this desktop: Quote
VGA Support Dual slot, max 290mm lengt graphics
So should fit no problem.
2. Quote
Delicate and Powerful ID
290 mm ATX Graphics Capability
600W 80+ Gold Power Supply
High Efficient Exclusive OC CPU cooler
Supports DDR3-3000(OC) Memory
Super Raid Armed
Easy Assemble
OC Genie Ready
Great Thermal Design with System Fan
Sufficient and Flexible Internal Storage Capability
Audio Boost: Reward Your Ears with True Quality
Killer Ethernet - Kill Your Lag
Military Class 4 - Top Quality & Stability
PCI Express Gen 3 - World's 1st PCI Express Gen 3 Motherboard Brand
So it should come with 600W PSU, yes.
3 and most important: above may not be applicable, as it's mostly dependant on the seller/retailer itself. Ask them if it comes with special CPU cooler, and if it's indeed 600W PSU fitted inside, as it shows as this on the website, but also about this:

• Why no support for Nightblade Z97

Dear Sir or Madam,
I'm MSI Nightblade Z97 owner.
Why there is no utility and BIOS support for Nightblade Z97 ?
It has MSI Z97I Gaming AC mobo with Nightblade BIOS.
I can't install and use utilities like MSI Command Center, because software does not support the motherboard. Probably due to Nightblade BIOS.
The support tab on Nightblade Z97's page does not even contains any driver updates and only contains Dragon Fan utility, that is ridiculous.
I wish it had the same BIOS with the MSI Z97I Gaming AC mobo, so i could get the latest BIOS updates and utilities.
Sincerely.

Not really expecting to get an answer to my question (Can I use the Gaming AC's BIOS for the Nightblade?) from the super users here so I e-mailed MSI support. Here's the response...
Quote
Dear Customer,
We don't suggest the behaviour.
The BIOS on our Nightblade webpage particular made for the barebone. We have specific code on the BIOS.
I managed to install the latest BIOS (version 1.90) for the MSI Nightblade Z97 days ago without any problems. Still curious about the MSI Z97i Gaming BIOS so I tried installing it via a bootable flash drive. Unfortunately, the BIOS file cannot be installed as it's not even recognized. So you can only install a BIOS customized for the Nightblade even if the Nightblade motherboard itself is labeled as MSI Z97i Gaming motherboard.

• MSI GTX 760 overheating

Bought an MSI Nightblade B85 a month ago.
Today I've noticed some throttling. When I checked the temps with afterburner it was running at 96c+ in games and 80c idle. I just stress tested it with L4D2 for a bit and it crashed within 5 minutes.
What's strange is that either the GPU fan or the dragon fan on the case isn't kicking in.
EDIT: So I just pulled the rig out again to have a look at the fans have kicked in. Will see if this helps temps since its factory OC'd by MSI.
REPORT: Idle temp has droped from 86 to 42 within a minute and I noticed that power instantly rose from 36% to 43% When the fans kicked in.
Faulty cable? I have never been inside the Nightblade yet.

As the cards fan cable is connected on the card it is hardly possible to be the problem. As said retest if the issues is still present or if it will now work fine in normal use.

• MSI z87I Gaming AC bios update

I was looking on the downloads section of the MSI site for my MOBO (in the title)
us_ msi_com/product/mb/Z87I_GAMING_AC.html#download (I replaced the dots with underscores since it says I can't post links)
It says the latest BIOS is version 1.3. My version is 1.1B4.
I unzipped the downloaded file and loaded it onto a USB drive. When I got into the bios I opened up MFlash and saved my current bios. It was saved as E7887IOB.114
When I went to select the bios file to update it didn't list the new bios file which was E7887IMS.130
Is the file listed on the website incorrect? Is there a new bios version out for my mobo?
Thanks!

If you check the MSI Nightblade webpage and click bios download page, you could select if you are using Windows 7 or Windows8 then you could find the bios there
but note that you could also use AFUDE238 utility to flash the bios under DOS mode..

• Re: Upgrade of CPU

No reason to do any of that.
He will not be able to overclock.
The MSI Nightblade B85C uses an Intel B85 chipset. http://gaming.msi.com/products/desktop/nightblade-series Under the models tab you can see that the B85C uses the B85 chipset.
So yes, you...

Well as far as i know, it's already a wanted feature by others.
So what would be the best way to set up my fans? Use speedfan or other software?
Thanks for your help though .

• Please more info on the Nightblade

I asked a bunch for questions over at the all in one forum but this forum is dead and nobody has any information about the nightblade. The guys at newegg don't know anything and customer support in msi is even more clueless, I just want to know if there is a support site or something because if I buy that and it's going to take people this long to answer, I'm not sure if it would be the best idea.
Does the case come with a CPU cooler and/or the sidefan adapter in newegg ?

• Nightblade Z97 Questions..

Hello All,
I bought the nightblade z97 yesterday and am very happy with it but I have a few questions.
1. The manual, website and internet says that there is an optional 3500rpm tower cooler. Google never fails but this time it did.. I cannot find this accessory anywhere. I called MSI directly and the rep had no idea what I was talking about... Where can I buy one?
2. Side optional case fan.. Pictures everywhere show that this fan should be pushing air out of the case. Typically the side fan sucks air in.. What's the real answer? in or out the case? Asked MSI rep about this as well and got the "I think it goes out" answer. I'm sorry but "I think" is not good enough.
3. Again, pictures show that there is red accent lighting on the handle area. Mine does not have this. Is it another option? If so, where can I get one?
Thanks all!

1. Water cooling- Astek/545LC
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=252670.0

Side fan and back fan are out the case. (Hot air is up.)

Please check the cooling with a dragon fan for Nightblade Z97 on MSI website:

3. Plesae press OC button for turn on the OC function and then power on the system.
Then the light will be on. It is not a optional.

• Nightblade Z97 and 980 GTX card and other questions

Hello there,
I'm planning on building a Nightblade Z97 rig. I'm not an expert, so a barebones system will be a good starting point. I'm also not planning to OC much so I'll go intel + nvidia with it.
My questions is if the motherboard can take the new geforce 980 and also if it will work with a water cooling fan for the CPU (like corsair H80i) connected to the side panel.
Anyway, I'd appreciated some guidance on that!

Hi,
Yes motherboard will work fine with GTX980.
Not sure about H80i fitting in this at all, looks like it could fit side panel. I suggest you ask MSI techie about it, they're able to answer this straight away:

• Unable to capture video with MSI StarForce 822 GeForce 3!

I have a MSI StarForce 822 GeForce3 graphics card with 64 MB DDR SDRAM on it. I have VGA Out, as well as TV-out (AV), TV-out (S-video), and TV-in(?) (S-video).
This brings me to two questions:
First, I have NEVER been able to figure out how to use the TV-in (S-video) port. I have tried numerous programs designed to capture video, including the one that came with the graphics card, and none of them recognize the card's TV-in. Do you have any recommendations as to how to use this port to capture video?
Second, in reading through the online manual for the graphics card on the company's website (under the name G3 Pro-VT64D MS-8822), I saw that the card supposedly has the capability of "High-quality HDTV/DVD playback" (8822 v2.0.pdf, page 8 ). However, in playing back DVD's through the card's s-video output onto my HDTV-ready monitor, I definately do not see HD quality videos. Could explain why this is the case?
I have an assignment coming up where I must do some video-editing work, and thus I am posed with a situation where I need to capture video using this card (and I can't afford to buy something new for the moment).
Thanks for your help.
Charles Bergmeier

If you have the Video Capture Driver installed then the video capture program should see it. On MSI site version 1.16 of the driver is available for download.
If you still have problems (e.g. too many frames lost) you can try using Virtual VCR (worked best in my case).

• MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU video lock-ups

Hello,
I have a 3 month old MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU. I am running Windows XP Professional and I am having a periodic lock-up where the screen will show blinking colored blocks and the system will freeze. Sometimes just hitting reset will cure the problem. Other times, hitting reset will create two vertical stripes of colored blocks scrolling down the screen. I have used the board on two entirely separate systems (One with AMD Athlon 2000+, Gainward GeForce 4200, 512 MB Samsung 2700 DDR, Western Digital Expert HD (tried both IDE #1 and RAID controller) (Other System, Athlon 1800+, a different Gainward Geforce 4200, 256 Crucial 2700 DDR, an older Maxtor hard drive). In either system, every once in a while, the system will freeze as described above (it has happened in Netscape 7.0, Microsoft Word 2000, America's Army game).
I have played around with the bios settings, reformatted hard drives, tried various revisions of the nvidia display drivers, swapped out video cards, etc. Any ideas? Do I have a bad board? Do I need to flash the BIOS? If the board is bad, what do I need to do to return it?
Thanks,
Matt Gumaer

The second system has a 330 watt enermax power supply. With the new system I put together, I put virtually the same board (MSI KT3 Ultra 2 with bluetooth and RAID), everything is the same as my first system (except the KT3 Ultra-ARU) and the stability is fine. So, I'm reasonably confident its not the power supply.
