hi there welcome to forum.
Thank you!
Yep, the SLI Bridge is connected on both PC. The result is similar on the PC1 and PC2... same problem. I've tried some games like Call of Duty 2, Tomb Raider and Prey optimised for Nvidia/SLI
PSU CoolerMaster 550W spec
PSU Thermaltake 600W Toughpower spec

And tell me if the bios version of each video card can be the problem = 5.71.22.12.01

  • MSI P6N SLI sound problem under windows 7

    Hi all!
I have an MSI P6N SLI mainboard and I have installed win7 ultimate x64 to get a look on that OS. Everything works fine expect one thing: I have no sound. I tried to install manually the realtek sound driver but no changes. When I check the Volume Control Options then neither the Speakers nor the Realtek Digital Output checked (but the speaker is plugged in).
However I have sound under Linux.
Could someone help me? (and sorry if I have missed the topic which resolves this problem if there is any)

    Hi everyone,
hope it's ok to refresh this thread - I did not want to open up a new one, because this one matches my problem perfectly - but my speakers are plugged-in the right way
I'm running Win7 64 on the MSI P6N SLI (not v2 no Platinum) and am unable to install the sounddriver (well not correct - I did install the driver). The upgrade advisor said all green (under Win XP 32) and the MSI-Driver-Page propagates Win7 32/64 is supported for the SoundCard of my Board.
The driver installs just fine, but the device won't come out of "I have a problem"-state - always telling me "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" (I event tried installing the driver manually with pointing the win-hardware-setup-routine to the driver-directory) - still no use - I removed and rebootet serveral times...
Hope anybody has a solution for this problem (I'm taking the posts above as a "this has to work"-basis so i'm not ready to give up and go out there and buy a new soundcard )
Thanks in advance for any hint.

  • MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum problems again

Like many of you all who suggested me to RMA my board couple weeks ago.  Well, looks like I finally got the board back and I decided to give it a go.  Put in my computer parts (CPU, Ram, using on-board vga/dvi) and gave it a go.  I turned on and then I see the same red light that occurred to me in the previous problem that I had before sending it in.  I am thinking MSI didn't thoroughly test the board enough?  I tried sticking the memory stick in different slots to see if that would help, still no go.  I switched/changed cpu   I contacted MSI and they said to reseat the CPU and check PSU. I told them that my PSU is brand new (Corsair 650TX) and confirmed them that it is indeed working.  I took it out of the case to test by putting a cardboard underneath the motherboard using only 1 stick of ram in DIMM1 slot.  Reseat/re-inserted the CPU and heatsink fan in.  Connect the DVI cable to the on-board dvi connection.  Then I took a flat screw driver and turned it on, I saw the CPU fan spin and the PSU fan spinning but the same red light showed up.  I am still stuck and wonder what other options I have left.
    MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum
    AMD64 X2 5400
2x2GB Corsair (I am only using 1 stick to test at the moment)
Using onboard video instead of my 8800GT
Corsair 650TX watts (tested and it is brand new)
I feel like I don't know what else to do except I could take it to a computer technician to have a second look at it.  If anyone have suggestion, I'd be happy to try.

I have done all of the following you listed except for testing the CPU in another machine.  I will bring the two cpu to a local shop and have them tested.  I will report back.

Do you have power cable for the CPU connected?
Does the CPU works in another machine?
Have you done >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed?
    Have you tested with mainboard out of PC case too? {With one memory stick in 1st DIMM close to CPU socket}
Does the CPU is properly installed?
Checked CPU for bent pins too?

  • MSI P6N SLI PLATINIUM problem with ram 800MHz

    Hello.
I have problem with ram frequency.
I have MSI P6N SLI PLATINIUM and OCZ 2x2GB 800MHz CL5  but in bios I see that my ram runs in 667 MHz. Because I have 800MHz ram, so it shouldn't be default 800MHz and not 667MHz? What I have to do to show bios that I have 800MHz ram?

  • Power of the Press - MSI Neo4 SLI Bios Problem

For those interested, I just sent this to hardocp because they did the review on the MSI SLI Platinum.  Since MSI headlines this review on their website, maybe hardocp can do something about this bios problem.  Enjoy and please send more emails to hardocp so we can get this problem addressed!  Believe me, Ive seen this works with washington politicians, I know it can work if we all do it.
I appreciate companies like yours doing extensive reviews about products.  However, your review caused me and a whole bunch of others to purchase this board with enormous problems associated with it (check out the msi forums).  The problem is that this board works only for 130nm chips in which you tested on.  On the newer amd 90nm chips, this board is the worst performing sli board out in the marketplace (for both winni and venice core chips).  You need to do something to stop people from buying this board because its just awful and the folks from MSI are silent on the subject.
It's gotten so bad that people have gone out and purchased other sli boards, transferred all of the equipment out of it and into the new one and guess what...voila, no problems.  Anyway, some of those in the other user forums had the same problem but those other manufacturers quickly fixed the problem.  Its just getting worse and worse.  I feel like both msi (and I am MAD) and reviewers like you (unless you don't know about the problem) are silent on this and its cost me hard earned MONEY ($175 for the mobo) and hours and hours of time...
You have a LOT OF POWER with MSI and I can see it because they headline your review on their website (power of the press).   For Gods sake, please do something before others make the same mistake or if you can get MSI to allocate resources to fix the problem...you would be HEROs!  Thank you.

Also is your MOBO the SLI type? I run the SLI Neo4 with a San Diego core without any issues. In fact I dropped it in and booted using the San Diego as a direct replacement for a older (if 6 months is old!!) 3500. I have OC'ed with Corecetner as far as I can push it and runs awesome!

GUys, I am not sure exactly what issues you are experiencing as there can be MANY factors! But my SLI Neo is running awesome! It overclocks (no Tiresmoke, i won't go into that in this forum  ) and has NEVER once BSOD, or rebooted or even crashed! Not once and I push the crap out of this as it is my gaming box.  Also TS you are SO correct on the clock settings on the ultras, you gotts make sure they are the same or it will cause issues. The only thing I am kinda bummed about is the lack of real performance with the dual 6800 Ultra's, but that is a Nvidia issue not MSI. Guys I may be blessed, but I have run three Neo MSI brds, 2 939 and 1 754 and never had any issues....

Look, I have already been threatened to be banned because of my sarcastic replies to you.  Read every one of your responses I listed.  Obviously OTHERS are having problems.  WHY don't you help them instead of TAUNTING people that yours works.  They are upset, and you make them feel dumb like it's their fault.
Man I have tried to contribute so much to this issue that at least 20 different members here are having, I have tested with an Asus SLI board, I have tried different BIOS's and posted results, I have theorized with others and I feel like you are slapping me in the face by restating time and time again "what problem mine works great"i
I'm on a verbal warning because I didn't have respect for you.  Well how are you respecting the other people who have problems by saying you don't know what their issue is.  Read up on it or help them, instead of creating tension. Please?

  • MSI K9N2 SLI overclocking problem

Having a slight problem here.  Had Bios 3.4 then updated to 3.5.  Noticed in Vista my CPU is at 3.2GHZ (stock), then everest and CPUid both show 3466Mhz.  No matter what I do in BIOS these numbers never changed.  BIOS was saying 3.5.  Decided to go back to BIOS 3.4 and am still having the same issue.  Any ideas?

I put your name on the list there.  You found the thread where you posted already.  So its all good.  Feel free to discuss anything about the motherboard over there too.  I am trying to band a group together who have share the same motherboards as we run, so that it be easier to help out and share tips (overclocking, ram experience, etc).  Sorta like a tight knit family and for those who have hands-on knowledge with the board itself already.

Sorry guys. figured out the problem, for some reason someone had changed the settings in the Nvidia control panel which is taking the complete control over the overclocking issue.  Now if I could just shut that ability off I would be happy.  Thanks for the help.  Raisethe3, you sent me a e-mail to join overclockers.net, I have joined overclockers.net but do not see a link to join this particular topic.  Will join as soon as I can find it.

  • MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum problem

I just got my Corsair 650TX PSU from the mail today. Installed it and connected everything.  When I turned the power on, nothing showed up.  I did see red lights, and I thought "oh no...".  So I went to check the manual and said if it red, then my old PSU must've taken out my CPU out at the same time.  I did see my graphic card spinning, *relief*  So I just wanted to double check with you guys if that's my CPU is totally gone/dead for good?  I checked all connectors and made sure there was no problem.  Everything was connected and well plugged.
My specs under sig as usual:
    MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum
    AMD 64 X2 4000+ 2.8Ghz (OC'D)
    Bios Version 3.1 (6/3/2008)
    2X 2 GB Corsair RAM 5-5-5-18  468.8 MHZ
    EVGA 8800GT 512MB DDR3

I agree, probably other parts went up in smoke as well.
The first thing comes to mind it the board is damaged too, as it's the first part being connected to the PSU.
    Quote from: a4m4d64 on 15-January-09, 22:25:39
Most likely,  the board shorted and fried the PS,   Board RMA ????
Oh no...I hope the board isn't dead.  I am going to be getting a new CPU and I will find out if it works or not.  *Keeping my fingers cross.*
Another thing, I doubt the board is dead, because when I turned it back on, all the light is still lit upon powering up.  So its obviously still working.  But no post screen, and like I said before, upon looking at the LED lights according to page 2-26 on my manual, I got the first box.  It states "System PowerOn- The D-LED will hang here if the processor is damaged or not installed properly".  So I know first thing come to mind is that I am certain the processor is installed properly when my original PSU died.  I never took it out.  Which left me the final choice, the CPU is officially dead/fried or however you want to call it.

  • MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum problem (Mobo dead again?)

Ok, its been more than 4 months since my computer have been "dead".  I went through two RMA for my mobo MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum and I went through RMA for my AMD cpu chip twice.  Just today I decided to put the parts together when I got my new chip.  Upon putting the parts together and turning the machine on, I get nothing.  No post beep, nothing on the screen of the monitor.  My PSU fan is spinning, I still get the red light indicator on my motherboard as I always have been in the past.
I put the parts with 1 stick of RAM next to the CPU.
    My components for the following:
    MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum
    AMD 64 X2 5600+
1 stick of 2 GB Corsair Memory
    650 Watts Corsair PSU
Does anyone know what else to do?  It seems like my options are getting dried up and I feel like I want to ask for a refund since my motherboard is still under warranty, if that's possible.

Wait slow down here.  You're saying that I supposed to hear a beeping sound when I power on?  If so, I heard none.  I am hard of hearing myself by the way.
*Not sure what you mean el-jack?
Quote from: Fredrik on 30-April-09, 06:03:16
Are there more things connected to the same el. jack? - Have a feeling I asked you that before!?
This is not 100% true, but if nothing works there is a power failure. If some things work and there is no beeping you can guess towards the processor. With beeping memory climbs up the ladder as the prime suspect.

  • MSI P6N SLI boot problems

I recently bought a P6N SLI and new memory since my current board is getting old
When I got everything assembled and turned it on, all fans and lights started, but there were no beeps and no video
I made sure all power connectors were not loose and tried it with minimum components out of my case, still same problem
tried old memory in case new memory was faulty, no luck
I'm sure all old components are working (using them right now)
sent board in for RMA in case I got a bad board, new one did same thing
since the board didnt come with a D-Bracket, I threw one together (4 LEDs on the red pins, ground on USB) all 4 lit up "System PowerON The D-LED will hang here if the processor is damaged or not installed properly"

I am attaching a link to MSI's CPU support page..you can also get there by going to the top of the forum page, to the right of the MSI banner are all the links you need..handy.   I would think, that any P4 series or any Core 2 Series CPU would be supported from the initial bios release.  The "D" series are a bit out of the mainstream, but are supported once bios is updated.   If you have a decent computer repair store, they should be able to pop in a P4 or C2D CPU to get it into bios and flash it.  Hey, here's a thought...the Core 2 Duo chips are relatively inexpensive now..you can get a Core 2 Duo E4500 for about $125 US that will run circles around your D805...?   Good luck.

  • MSI P7N SLI PLATNIUM PROBLEM!

Hey people. I'm new here so please don't give me a hard time if I missunderstand or say anything.
I know this is a pretty old MB, but please try and help.
So i built a PC with the board mentioned above. Here are the specs:
    AMD Radeon 7770 GPU
Intel Q6600 2.5 GHz Quad CPU
Scythe Kamariki IV 550 W PCU
2x2 GB of RAM ( Can't remember the name of the manufacturer)
So long story short, I've build the PC, connecting every component correctly, connecting every cable correctly also, I would say.
The problem is, that it won't boot up. Note that it doesn't have any OS on it, since i've only built it. It doesn't load its BIOS, it doesn't make any beep or anything like that.
There is a red light turned on, on the board when my power supply is turned on. I am not sure what is it indicating, but I've read somewhere that it has to do with the 8-pin connectors.
I've double checked that, and everything is connected as it should be. When i turn on the pc, the screen is black, no signs of loading or anything. The fans are working on the CPU and GPU,
so I'd say the problem is not there. I can't think of anything else.
Please help. Also, I've heard that i should flash my BIOS to an updated version?
    Thanks for your time.

your very welcome! intel sockets are notoriously fragile and are very easily damaged when you initially insert a CPU if its not totally level as inserted! hopefully if you use a very small screwdriver like are used for eyeglasses they can usually be moved back ito place if you take your time and do it very slowly!
anyway im glad i figured out after all the little tests we got you to do what was actually wrong!
is it working now or are you too terified to attemp to fix it fully(neither would suprise me)?

i tried conecting an Encore Wireles pci card and also with an ethernet one, but it's not always recognized by the system (most of the time it doesn't)
i was working with Windows XP and updated to Windows 7, reinstalling all drivers but the problem persist
    what could be going on?

  • MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum problem (Mobo dead?)

I just got a brand new CPU today.  INstalled it to replace my AMD 64 X2 4000+ with the AMD 64X2 5400+ BE.  I made sure everything was connected and upon turning my computer.  I received all red lights flashing on my motherboard.  Is this a sign of dead mobo?  According to the manual on page 2-26 if light is lead on all four it would mean processor is damaged or not installed proper.  I tried reseating several times.  I tested both the onboard vga and my 8800GT video card.
    Can anyone help out?
    Thanks.

I did all that.  Took out the motherboard out the case and took the old processor out and inserted the new one in, along with a drop of thermal compound.  I put the CPU fan on.  Had 1 stick of RAM next to the CPU and also no drives connected to the motherboard.  Turned on and still nothing.  I still got the red lights.  I tried switching different ram and still no go.
Quote from: Fredrik on 12-February-09, 03:31:38
Red lights normally mean there is a processor problem. Since you can't get the previous processor to work either I would like to know how you went about when you seated the processor. And of course if all power cables are in place.
You wouldn't think so, but as you see time can be save by taking the motherboard out when changing. As Creativity says clearing of CMOS, with power cable unplugged, is the normal way when you get a new processor.

How did you manage to put 2 sticks in slot 5?
We already know one stick in slot 1 works.
We also know 2 sticks in slots 1 and 5 work.
And we even know that all 4 sticks in slots 1 3 5 and 7 do not work.
    Now try to focus.
    Take out all memory sticks.
Put one known good stick (that works in slot 1 or 5) and put it in slot 3. Does this work?
Now move the memory stick from slot 3 to slot 7. Does this work?
