MSI P45-8D problem: reboot after loading startup services (windows seven 64bit)

hi guys!
I decided (buying a cooler master elite 360) to keep my Memory Lover (whit ddr3/ich10r, pci-ex 2.0), which is actually the 'best purchase for me (rather than a G41 mATX) .
But then, after I had solved the problem of overheating in the pci-ex, and I put the board in its box for weeks, now has a new problem:
Continuous blocks & reboots just after loading startup services windows seven!
The setup is this:
 Windows Seven 64bit
 MOBO MSI Memory Lover
 CPU Xeon L3110
 VGA MSI Radeon HD5450 1gb ddr2 fanless
 DDR3 1333 4GB
PSU Tacens Radix V mATX 35Watt Velociraptor + Caviar Green
 DVD burner (sata)
Esi pci-ex sound card connect module
Creative Xtreme Gamer (disconnected for now)
I have many ram models that I can put in:
 kingston lovo 4gb 1333
 4g-skill eco 4gb 1333
 adata green 4gb 1333
 corsairs white 8gb 1600
All memories can work undervolt at 1.35volt, but-of course-I keep them in standard 1.5Volt for more stability
I also tried a single 2gb stick at a time, but nothing has changed
when the system reboots (I infer) windows finished loading all the startup services (including antivirus, network drivers, audio drivers, etc. ..). and I can say with near certainty, that the last major service that is loaded, is the catalyst control center ...
I suspect an incompatibility with Memory Lover &  the Video Card's ATI driver ..
I also tried to uninstall and clean with driver sweeper, but the problem remains ..
Besides this I also have a problem with the temperature of the processor xeon l3110 (45watt tdp)
cpu heatsink as I have a Arctic Freezer LP 11 (Capacity Cooling 100W).
with thermal compound pre-installed I had 60/70 degrees recorded.
I changed the thermal compound with the famous Prolimatech pk-1 and now I measure 80/90 degrees ...(and I've changed a lot of thermal compound that I put with my eyes closed)
now, this is not possible because:
-I know the processor, I kept in daily use at 3Ghz with a noctua nh-U9B se2, and in summer never exceeded 40 degrees (d 'winter was about 30 degrees)
 - Either with the Scythe kama thermo, that with my finger, the heatpipes of the Freezer 11 LP, the Mosfet, the NB & SB are all cold .. the 5450 is 40 degrees or so, but it is fanless, and its temperature is in its normal ..
What can you tell me of my two problems:
 - Continuous reboots after loading windows seven
 - High temperature cpu (probably not real)
I remind you that a few months ago the team & Memory Lover Xeon L3110 worked perfectly.
The PSU is a new 350Watt Tacens Radix V mATX ... the system at idle consumes 70/80 watts (measured at the wall) ... I think it Is not a problem of the little power supply for the needs of my system ..
and anyway I can try to use an old Enermax 450watt Liberty, which I keep for emergencies..
 thanks
 max

guys,
 I solved the problem!
the sink was installed wrong, and did not touch on the processor!!!
the problem was the mosfets around the cpu that make thickness in height ..
the thermal paste was put well and ... still immaculate!
processor took about 20 (or more) of restarts and very high working temperatures!
 it rocks!!
I can now say that the 'AC Freezer 11 LP is sensational!
The Xeon L3110 (with EIST, C1E & Acpi active together, That downclok it) works now to 23-25 degrees!!
 I have installed the ddr3 kingston 4gb Lovo 1333 + 8GB Corsair 1600 1.35Vram white.
(with 12GB, I can easily do a large Ramdisk for temporary files).
I installed hd5450 driver manually, but still the catalyst control center does not appear at startup
here is the screen of the situation:
finally...but how did I doubt the quality of this MSI board?

  • MSI P45 Overclocking problem

    Hi,
Im trying to overclock my E8400 processor. I try to raise bus speed from 333MHz to 400MHz. It boots to windows but after like 10 secs I get BSOD. Im using FSB:DRAM ratio 1:1, core voltage 1.235V and DRAM voltage 2.1V. Im also using multi-step OC booster in mode 1.
    My setups is:
    Intel E8400
    MSI P45 Platinum (Bios 1.0)
OCZ 4GB 800MHz DDR2 PlatinumXTC (OCZ recommend 5-4-4-15 latency but i have those setting in auto and latency atm is 6-6-6-18, problem?)
    GF GTX 280
    Zalman 600W PSU
    Thanks for you help!

Im also using multi-step OC booster in mode 1.
I'm not sure what this is but I think you need to disable settings such as these to be able to successfully OC. For example (X38):
    D.O.T. Control = disabled
    Intel EIST = disabled
    C1E = disabled

OCZ 4GB 800MHz DDR2 PlatinumXTC (OCZ recommend 5-4-4-15 latency but i have those setting in auto and latency atm is 6-6-6-18, problem?)
I think trying auto is ok. Then raise memory voltage in increments. Try also setting FSB:DRAM to auto and see what happens.

  • Problem with After Effects startup: "empty" panels

    Hi,
I'm experiencing a wicked problem with AE CS4. First of all, it crashes frequently, most recently every time when trying to RAM preview a composition which used CC Particle World-effect. The main problem occurs when I start AE again after a crash. I get the following startup image:
    And then comes this:
It seems that AE is actually "working" correctly, it's only that it doesn't show anything on screen. Sometimes it returns to normal if I close Photoshop, Illustrator, Firefox or Spotify. Sometimes I have to close all of them and then restart AE. Right now I tested restarting AE after about 15 minutes after the above images were captured without closing any other programs, and surprisingly it's running fine now. I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but I think that this after-crash-problem has occured before even with compositions which do not have Particle World applied.
I'm not exactly a wizard with computers, but I'm guessing this has got something to do with my graphics card? I'm running Windows XP with Intel Core i7 processor, 3 GB RAM and Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 graphics card. Oh, and I always have OpenGL disabled in After Effects.
Any advice how to get rid of this annoying bug? Also, if anyone has any insight about the Particle World crashing on me, I'd appreciate the help. I read somewhere about a similar problem with Macs, but nothing with Windows PC.
    Cheers!

    Thanks for the replies!
I was so sure it wasn't because the amount of apps running in the  background, since crashes and the "after-crash-problems" didn't happen  all the time. The computer is my employer's, and I think it was built with 64 bit Windows 7 in mind. For a reason I don't know they decided to go with XP after all, which is kind of weird since there actually is 6 GB RAM inside, but XP can use only half of that amount. Now I guess I just have to start harassing my boss to buy me a 64 bit Win 7.
Todd, I have the latest update installed. Do you think the CC Particle World crash happens also because of low RAM and all this Edsel-thing (had to look that one up!)? I have used the effect many times before with the same computer with no problems at all.

  • Problem reboot after download

i just upgraded to Yosemite  on my MacBook Pro.  It's having problems rebooting. the reload page goes halfway and seems to stop Or so slow I can't see progress . It's been over an hour since download.

After returning to the Apple store and reviwing the purchase, I saw that the Mountain Lion dowload had been stopped. I clicked on resume and everything proceeded according to plan. Yes, it did take about an hour and a half for the complete install.
    Thanks again.

  • My iPhone 4 will no longer back up in iTunes after my upgrade to Windows 7 64bit.

I used to have Windows XP 32bit and everything worked fine.
I upgraded to Windows 7 64bit and installed iTunes 64bit (I've also tried running the installer as administrator [in the compatibility properties]).
iTunes will recognise it with no problems and I can drag and drop anything I want to the iPhone, but I can't back up.
Software versions: iTunes v10.4.0.80, iPhone 4.3.5.
When I try to back up, the loading bar with either:
Have a loading bar with diagonal lines forever or,
it will start moving and freeze.
I've tried leaving the process for hours, but to no avail.
While the back up is being attempted, iTunes still retains full functionality.
I would exit by sliding the bar on my iPhone (iTunes will retain the loading bars as if frozen) and then unplug it. At this point iTunes takes a few seconds to drop the loading bar altogether, and the little screen will reset to normal functionality.
I believe this may be a iTunes-Windows thing as I did the following with my old laptop (Windows XP 32bit):
Installed iTunes for the first time.
Went into preferences and disabled the automatic backup option.
Plugged in the iPhone, right-click "back up".
The back up took less than 5 minutes.
I don't understand why my main PC can't back up my iPhone.
    Can anyone help please?
I've tried researching the same problems and I've ended up doing the following:
    Reinstalling iTunes,
Tried changing the iTunes installation folder to "Program Files" instead of "Program Files (x86)",
Deleting all contents from: "C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup",
Deleting the apps from my phone in case there are corrupt apps (doesn't make sense though as it backed up fine on my old laptop).
    I would appreciate any suggestions!
    Kind regards,
    Will

    Hi there,
I have the same issue. Usually hangs after 10K od sometimes after 18MB of backup file.
    Config: iTunes 10.4., Win 7 64bit, iPhone 4 with iOS 4.3.3
I tried all of these without success:
    - deleted backups via iTunes / Preferences
    - deleted backups from sync folder
    - created a new admin user and tried to sync
    - reinstalled iTunes
    - ran all Windows updates, restarted, reinstalled iTunes
    - ran iTunes / Diagnostics (says everything okay, only info which is strange: diag says I am not a admin user, which is not correct)
Nothing helped. Who can help. I hope someone from Apple can take care, as I seem not to be the only one. Actually iTunes is the worst part about iPhone. Hope with iOS 5 and Cloud sync to get rid of iTunes.
    Any hints welcome,
    Cheers,

when ever i try to log into Essbase studio it gives me this error
Error connecting to Essbase server studio

    Network Error
Network Communication with the server failed

    as in the following pic
    [http://www.4shared.com/photo/dDPU68B5/errr.html]
I hope you can help me with that problem.
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
I dont think Windows 7 is supported OS.
    Go through the support matrix,
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/hyperion-supported-platforms-085957.html
Having said that, there are ppl who have installtion done on Windows 7 as well.
I would say, check the services first if they are up and running or not. If yes, then logs should be the first place to visit.

    Hi,
be sure that you backup your system.... partitioning and resizing  is always on risk...
be sure that you can restore if something goes wrong...
if you dont know what happens ... dont do this...
first you can have 3 active (primary & 1 logical ..
as i have for example 1.XP,2. Win7,3. Ubuntu...and 4. Logical (for common data like music, video, textfiles, picture and...)
    or 4 active primary...(..)
...hope that you knows easeus partitionmanager a bit ...
    ...lets have a look :
so you have ... partition c: (XP) .....  ca. 70 GB .... thats enough room for windows 7...(prefer 30GB workspace)
start in windows ... start easeus PM .. click on drive c: (XP) and resize to ... GB leave 30 GB black space behind..(for W7)..
go on this empty space create new primary NTFS partition   ... and after that ,  right click on new primary drive set active !!!! .... click apply button and cross fingers
... system will restart and easeus will manage all your changes takes time...
after restart... prepared for booting windows 7 install and if windows asking you , take the second partition on your harddrive (30 GB)..... and ....so on...
thats the way to go ...

  • MOVED: MSI P45 Platinum Problems

This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=119387.0

Still does not work. Any ideas from users who have faced similar problems are welcome.
Meanwhile in a private message I have been accused of spamming all P45 threads. This is atrocious! Please guys, I am not here on behalf of MSI's business rivals to create a ruckus. I have spent my hard earned money on the board and am now facing problems. I hoped to gain sympathetic answers from fellow users, instead of biased accusations. Let me mention here that I have seen seven P45 problem threads on page no. 1 alone of this forum. I responded only to two of them, because my problems were similar.
So if you have any ideas to resolve my difficulty, please tell me about them. This is going to be my last MSI purchase. But that should deter fellow users from helping me out. You are not working for MSI after all!

  • MSI P45-C51 (Problems With 4GB DDR3 1333)

    Hello,
I have a problem with my motherboard P45-C51.
According to test reports, this motherboard supports 4GB DDR3 modules (1333).
    msi.com/file/test_report/TR10_1836.pdf
    Data specifically are:
    Model: Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G
    Size: 4GB
    2 DIMMs: V
    4 DIMMs: V
    R.S.T: OK
In the absence of stock the store, I bought a similar one:
    Fury HiperX DDR 3 1333 (HX313C9F/4)
however, the motherboard does not recognize the memory (when I turn on the computer, 3 beeps sound and restarts, return to ring 3 times and then restarts and so on)
With 2 GB DDR3 1333 DIMM working properly.
    I have last Bios v5.7
I found an online store the specified memory for my motherboard (Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G) but want to be 100% sure it worked properly before buying.
    Thnks.

    hi,
With Fury HiperX DDR 3 1333 (HX313C9F / 4) i deleted the CMOS but I did not recognize. After much searching, I concluded that the problem could come from the distribution of the chips.
    The Kingston (Fury HiperX DDR3 - 1333 - HX313C9F/4) memory have 512Mbx8 Chips (single-sided)
The G.Skill Ripjaws (F3-10666CL7D-8GBRH) memory have 256Mbx16 Chips (in two sided)
With G.Skill The mbo detect the memory and boot normally. No necesary delete CMOS.
The only problem is latency, latency detects and configures it is nine. However, changing the latency in the BIOS manually to seven working properly.
    Thnks.

  • MSI KLN2 DELTA problem hangs after testing RAM

I currently purchased the MSI K7N2 DELTA-L (Motherboard) NFORCE2 CHIPSET DDR400 and for the cpu im using an athlon 1800+ and i just purchased some pc 3200(ddr400)of 1 gig(stick by Samsung)  and i have a problem during boot up it's a really weird problem as soon as it says testing memory it goes up to 1048 detecting the 1 gig and it says ok saying single Channel and then as soon as it says detecting ide hard drives it hangs up. I can't even acess CMOS now i have had the problem for over a week, & send the motherboard back to xtreme gear that i bought, & they send me a new motherboard and it's the same problem. So I'm thinking that the mother board doesn't like the ram i purchased I have tested the ram on another system that supports pc3200 except it was on a system w/ a pentium 4 and it worked perfectly on that system. i have also put samsung 512 mb stick and same problem, does any one have suggestions or solutions, is samsung just not compatible with msi k7n2 delta series mother board or what else can it be, I can't update the bios cause right after or even sometimes b4 it says detecting ide hard drives it hangs up any solutions??????
The link to the ram i bought is
http://store.yahoo.com/dccsale/sa1gpc400mhz.html & I've tested it on a p4 motherboard with a pentium 2.6 and it worked perfectly but maybe its not the ram maybe the bios on the msi k7n2 deltas are very glitchy???

Do u think it might be cause im using an athlon 1800+ or is it my 1024 mb or 1 gig pc 3200 sometimes i do get something in the screen but right after testing the ram it hangs up or even if it says detecting the ide hard drives and nothing after that i know my vga card is fine i know my ram is fine and it's abviously not a hard drive issue so not sure what the problem is and it's basically impossible to flash the bios if i cant get in or even to load up where it checks the floppy... The only thing is if my cpu was bad i think nothing at all would load on the screen, but if it's possible i guess what esle can i do should i spend $150 and get a faster cpu like an athlon 2700+

  • Solaris 10 beta 7 boot problem; stops after loading mmu32 module

    Hi,
I'm having a problem getting beta 7 to boot on my system, using boot -v it appears to hang right after the mmu32 module is loaded.
Is there a more detailed debug option I can use on the boot line to track down more precisely where the hang is occuring?
Solaris WAS booting intermittedly for a while, ran DAMN WELL TOO!
Hardware is a VIA CM266 motherboard, Via 1GHz C3 CPU. Solaris is installed on partition 2; NetBSD on 0, Fedora Core 3 on 1. I'm using grub but that doesn't seem to change behavior; booting off the Solaris install CD will hang in about the same place as well.
    Any info/pointers/debugging hints appreciated!

    Hello,
Thanks for the informative post. I am trying to install Solaris 10 on an Athlon system. All works fine except for the nic card.
Can you provide info on what nic card your system uses?
The built in nic on my system is a Sis900 and i have not been able to locate a driver.
I tried installing a Linksys Gigabit card (EG1032). Linksys supports Solaris drivers, but not Solaris 10. (I tried the Solaris 9 driver but it would not install. The error message said 32 bit drivers could not be installed in a 64 bit kernel)
    Thanks in advance.

  • IPad 2 problem: reboots after every 5-10 mins of use and needs to be restored

    Hi
I am facing problem with my iPad 2 (wifi only, 64 gb). It reboots every 5-10 mins everytime I use it. After reboot, it asks to be restored by itunes. After restoring it, it again reboots and asks for itunes. I have tried everything, I have reset it, restored it and rebooted it. Nothing is working. Battery is fully charged, and no other apps other than ipad original apps have been installed. It still crashes and needs to be restored. Can someone help me? This is really frustrating, I have restored it about 50 times and I cannot download any thing from appstore as it crashes when any application is launched!

it downloaded a fresh copy of the new iOS 5.1.1. I'll delete it and try downloading it again. No, its not jail broken. I think it might be a hardware issue as when I read a book on it, it may not crash, but as soon as I open youtube or any other app, it crashes within 5-10 mins and needs to be restored again.

  • HP Elitebook 820 reboots after loading wim file.

    Hello,
I am trying to use PXE boot for new models of HP Elitebook (820, 840 and 850), when I run PXE on my 820 model I get to the point where I click F12 to get in, it loads the wim file and welcome screen shows up. This is where it, after a few seconds, reboots
the computer instead of asking for password as it normally does on older models (8440p, 8470p etc). I have downloaded WinPE drivers from HP SoftPaq Download Manager and added them into the boot image, and updated distribution points.
Anyone got some suggestions on how to fix this?
    Regards,
    Sindre Winsvold

    Sindre,
That's probably a bit OTT as there's not need to create a custom boot file. You should be ok with the boot images that come default with SCCM install.
Take a look at the following blog entry and take a note at the Add Drivers to Boot image section
    http://www.ronnipedersen.com/2012/03/importing-drivers-for-osd-in-configmgr-2012/
For your custom boot image update - did you enable the 'Deploy this boot image from the PXE enabled distribution point' check box? Also you have to deploy a Task Sequence using that image to the unknown computers collection for it to be picked up as the
new default boot.wim file. Best to stick with the above if you are stepping into this as a noob.
    Cheers

  • PXE boot fails and reboots after loading PE

I have run into what I think is a unique issue and need some help determining the cause.
We are in the process of replacing and aging DP/PXE point (2003 R2 SP2) with a new server (2008 STD R2 SP1).  What makes my pxe issue unique is that pxe works without issue on the existing 2003 DP/PXE server.  But on the new 2008 server I run into
    the following issue.
Environment:  Config Manager 2007 R2, a single primary, multiple DP's and PXE points.
Issue:  When I attempt to PXE boot a system, I am able to load PE, but shortly after the custom background screen is loaded, the system reboots.  I've searched the internet quite a bit and found lots of potential causes including, bad/missing drivers,
certificate issues, rights issues, etc.  None of these seem to be the cause.
My troubleshooting has determined that the client computers are unable to download the variables.dat file.  I just don't know why.
We're using the same boot images on both servers.
I've tried using multiple computer models and VM's.
I've opened a command prompt as soon as our background image loads and have verified that the system is pulling a valid IP address.  I am able to map a drive to the PXE server's REMINST share using our sccm net access account and manually copy the .var
file using xcopy to the appropriate directory on the local virtual drive.   I've also attempted to manually run smstftp.exe by mimicking the command line from the smsts log file.  I'll admit that I'm not sure I have the correct syntax for smstftp.
I've tried several variations and all but one result in a short pause and no file copied/created in the X:\sms\data folder.  The one that does produce a result says that the file cannot be found.  I checked for typos and made sure I used the name
of the newly created .var file.
I've also tried disabling anti-virus on the server, shutting off the windows firewall on the server, granting everyone read rights to the REMINST share.
Below is the smstslog file I've been using as a reference.  Per corporate security policy, I have X'd out the IP address of the PXE server.  The log file for the successful pxe boot from the 2003 server shows an exit code of 0 for smstftp.exe, a note
about successful download of the pxe var file and then it continues through the rest of the boot process.

This has been an extremely frustrating issue and any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your quick response Jason!  I didn't expect someone to reply so quickly or I would have checked back sooner.
I had found the two 'older' posts already, but had not seen the 'newer' one.  Unfortunately that did not give me any new ideas.  But your comment on checking for TFTP availability did.  Here are things I have tried since my original
    post...
I re-ran most of my tests in case I missed something.  I only found one change.  Even though I double-checked, I must have made a typo when I manually ran the smstftp.exe command, because when I ran it again I received a timeout message instead
    of file not found.
I had a minor 'thinking outside of the box moment' and decided to PXE boot the new 2008 R2 server itself.  This was successful and I interpreted the success as meaning that the hardware is ok.  Thinking there may be a compatibility issue with
the hardware and the OS, I tried a few different NIC drivers, settings, registry keys, and even a completely different NIC.  No luck on any of these.
I decided to build another Server on a VM tovalidate my build process and configuration.  And of course clients in multiple locations were able to PXE boot off this VM.  Too bad I can't use this in production.
After reading your response Jason, I began to focus on network.  I moved the server to a few different locations so it was utilizing different switches.  No luck.  I noticed in the event viewer for WDS that the server was logging the
beginning of the boot.var file via TFTP.  This of course was not very surprising.  What was surprising is that the very next entry (informational) noted that the client 'COMPLETED' the download of the boot.var file via TFTP.  I know that completed
does not mean successful, but it usually implies or is interpreted as successful.  It should have logged a warning or error, or nothing at all because although the process completed, it was not successful.  I re-verified that the file was not downloaded
to the client and the client log file still shows the same error noted in the logfile from my original post.
Finally, I installed sniffing software on the server and ran some captures while attempting to PXE boot.  Even though I am not much of a network guy, I quickly discovered two things.  First, I found the section where the client attempts to download
the boot.var file.  Unfortunately I don't think the local security team will allow me to post the capture, so I'll do my best to describe what I found.  It starts with a single entry where the client calls for the file via TFTP protocol.  This
is followed by a series of alternating entries (all TFTP) where it looks like the server attempts to send a portion of the file, and the client sends an acknowledgement.  The sending entries all have checksum errors.  The checksum received on
all packets is 0x0000 and of course should be something else.  There is also a shorter section below this with alternating entries where the server attempts to send ICMP packets and the client responds with TFTP acknowledgements.
The ICMP entries are all marked as Destination unreachable (Port Unreachable).
The second thing I noticed from the network capture is the a few 'Spanning Tree Protocol' entries.  I my search for a solution, I remember reading several posts saying that Spanning Tree can cause this issue.  When I asked, I was assured that
Spanning Tree was disabled in this environment.  It made sense too, because the 2003 PXE server was functioning properly, and Spanning Tree should affect both 2003 and 2008 servers, right?
Either way I will bring my findings to the network team and see what they have to say.
    Any additional thoughts or ideas???
