MSI P45 NEO2 - MS-7512 V1.1 - WONT BOOT,NO POWER.

CPU : INTEL CORE 2 DUO E8400
MOBO : MSI P45 NEO2 - MS-7512 V1.1
RAM : 3X DIMMS 1GB KINGSTON VALUERAM KVR800D2N5 1.8V
VGA : GAINWARD HD4850
HDD : SEAGATE BARRACUDA 7.11 500GB
DVDRW : NEC 7203 SATA DVDRW
PSU : SEASONIC S12II-500 (SS-500GB Active PFC) - http://www.seasonic.com/pdf/datasheet/01PC/S12II.pdf
CASE : THERMALTAKE MATRIX VX BLACK
This build wont power on, tried changing the PSU with a Seasonic S12II 380W, changed the VGA to a Sapphire HD3850, tried changing the ram modules, left only one dimm on all the slots, disconnected all peripherals except vga, reseated the cpu and heatsink, still nothing, board wont boot, no power anywhere, no fans spin, no leds lightup.
Any help appreciated cuz this is an emergency build.
Thanks guys.
Some photos, mess excused.

Okay, try this:
- connect all case wiring for front-panel stuff to the mainboard or short the two pins for Power-On on the mainboard's pin header with a screwdriver.
If that does not work:
- take the board out of the case to test it on a non-conducting surface in barebone configuration (CPU, video card, all power connectors, one stick of RAM) and repeat the step above
If that does not change anything:
- test with different PSU
Case closed, i put the motherboard outside the case and worked like a charm, seems like a bad conduct between the motherboard and the case, thanks for all the answers guys, it was the only thing i didnt examined and thankfully it was it and not some DOA board. Thanks again.

    Hi
I have same problem like from topic below
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=119789.0
That was some problem from the beginning, computer was restarting it self with no reason or just restarting while was booting every few secound and the this message appear "overclocked failed" or something.
Somebody told me to try upgrade BIOS which resolve this problem.
Now only problem I have is happening during the gaming. Operating system (WIN XP MCE sp3) seams to be stable but when trying the game computer will switched off it self after few minutes, like somebody just cut the power off!

  • MSI P45 Neo2 FR need to know voltage settings.

    Hello.
Ok, I have a question about my voltage settings in the bios.
Particular for the FSB voltage and the northbridge voltage.
Can anyone tell me what the voltage settings are when they are on auto?
I have no idea in which manner to up the nb voltage to give my ram some more oc headroom.
I have 4x1 Gb team Xtreem cas3 ram i can't get it over 1000Mhz. These are D9 chips and run up to 1200Mhz 5-5-5-15 2.4v.
But this board does not seem to like it.
So any tips how to set the voltage and in which steps to increase them?
    Thanks for your time.
    Specs:
    MSI P45 Neo2 FR bios 1.1
    Intel Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz 9x400 1.47v
    Team Xtreem 4x1Gb 964Mhz 4-4-4-10 2.25v
    Sapphire HD 3870

Ok. I have tested both kits.
I have ran them both at 1100Mhz 5-5-5-15. 2.35v. Just to check again if it wasn't the ram acting up.
This was done by leaving everything on auto except CPU voltage, RAM voltage.
Now i am gonna try to get 1 kit running at 1100Mhz again but then switching to manual on the MCH settings.
Then i will pray that if i find the right setting for one kit so that if i add the other i only have to up it a notch to get it working like it should.
    Edit.
    After an hour of fiddling i can now boot 400 x9= 3.6Ghz on 1.47, 4x1Gb 1066Mhz 5-5-5-15 2.35v, MCH 1.3v.
    Thats nice.

  • How to enable Wake On Lan on MSi P45 Neo2?

    Hi,
I just bought a P45 Neo2, and I think I have WOL on this machine, as the Realtek chipset 8111C does support the feature. However, I'm not sure how to
    - enable
    - use
the function. Can you help me?
Under Device Manager, I go to the Realtek network adapter --> Properties --> Power Management --> Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby.
Now, it is enabled. How should I use it? I would be very thankful :-).

  • MSI P45 Neo2 w/ e7200 Overclock stock cooler

I've never used an MSI board and I'm struggling with how the BIOS is setup.
I'm aiming for a mild overclock to 3ghz and shouldn't have to mess with voltage or anything... the memory is 2x2GB DDR2 800mhz with the e7200 and I can overclock the memory by changing the ratio between FSB and DRAM and that works fine, but any time I change the FSB of the CPU for overclocking the computer won't even post, I've made sure result of the overclock keeps the memory at a safe 850mhz or lower as well.  Almost everything in the Cell menu has been disabled by me to prevent anything interfering with my overclock.
There are two jumpers on the motherboard for forced FSB setting... I'm not familiar with these at all, are they interfering with me changing the FSB in the BIOS?  By default they are in the position 1 - 2 on JP1 and JP2.  When I remove them which looks like what totally unlocks the FSB, the computer won't post at all, nothing, nada.
Any advice for me?  I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks!

I may as well add it here also since the cooler is mentioned. This is on my Q6600.
I got mine for $7 + shipping after rebate at ZipZoomfly. Is currently $5 + shipping after rebate untill 9/30. What a bargain!!

This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=125291.0

    Thanks for the reply DougKmcse
I have no trouble with the overclocking since this is only a minor overclock (2.8GHz), the only problem I have with this is it gets stuck at restart. With that 2.8GHz OC, i have the vcore @ 1.285v which was stable running 1hr Prime95. I just can't understand why it gets stuck during warm boot.. might try to experiment (400x6 = 2.4GHz) when I get home from work to see if the 400 FSB is causing this. And yes, I agree with you that it would be easier to use a lower FSB with a higher multiplier. I just wanted to try having 400 and having a perfect 1:1 ratio. I have some data suggesting a 1:1 (@ 400:400) is better than 1:1.2 or any other divider. I used Everest cache & memory bandwidth benchmark to test this. I got lower "ns" testing my RAMs (PC6400 DDR2 800) during 1:1 FSB:Ratio (400:400) vs 1:1.2 (333:400)

  • Help! P6N wont boot after power outage.

We had a power outage this morning and after the power was restored I reset my UPS. Now my system is almost dead. The only indications of life are that the HD access light, and the power light flash at a 1 Hz rate. I tried resetting the BIOS (SW3), but no change.
    Motherboard: MSI7320 (P6N)
    CPU: Intel Q6600
    RAM: 4Gb OCZ Platinum

try with a different power supply first.
    remove all components...
test a RAM stick by stick a time
left it boot only with minimal processor, a stick of ram and a graphic, maybe if you have.
you can leave not to put your hard disk / optical devices at a moment.

  • 9300 Wont boot. Power comes on but no boot

So I got home from thanksgiving with family to see my computer was turned off. I hit the power button, and all the fans came on as normal, but no picture. Thought maybe it was just a monitor issue, I did a hard reset, (power button hold) and then restarted, It got to the boot screen, then shut off again. I pushed the power again, and still, fans came on, lights came on, but monitors dont come on.
Basicilly, what it does now is, hit the power button, fans come on, DVD drive opens/closes/spins, but nothing else, power button does not light, and power button does not react to hard reset (long press)
    Things I have tried:
Removed RAM and treid to start, no change, no beeps
Removed Video Card and tried to start, no change, no beeps
    Removed Battery
    Switched jumper
    30second power button hold
Plugged strait into wall (no Surge protector in between)
It was plugged into a surge protector when it failed, nothing else in the surge protector failed (other computer, monitor, modem, etc)
I am no computer expert, I know just enough to get myself in trouble, and most of the things I have tried is from other forums ideas.
    Please help!
    Thank you

Please identify your desktop PC with the p/n (product name/number).
Once you identify your PC I will link to a service & maintence guide and provide an image that shows where and how to clear the CMOS. When BIOS ROM file has issues it is often the case that clearing the CMOS brings the PC back to life.
You said "Switched jumper". What exactly are you referring to?
If you meant cleared CMOS, did you remove the CMOS battery ( quarter sized and marked CR2032) when you did it?
    Kind regards,

  • G61-327CL wont boot; Flashing power lights

A friend gave me his old laptop because it didn't work. HP G61-327CL. When you try to turn it on, the power/charge/dvd lights at the bottom left just flash 3 times. The middle (charge) light seems to be brighter than the other 2, so it's possible that's actually the only one flashing, but I have no clue. The charging light comes on when it's plugged in. I've tried a hard reset, after which it gives four flashing lights, the last one being held for a second.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hey Tyeillin,
Going by what you said, it seems like there is a graphics card issue with that notebook. Take a look at this document for info: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01443366&cc=us&destPage=document&lc=en&tmp_docn...
If that matches up with what you are seeing, then the unit will need repair - either a new system board and/or graphics card.

  • Msi Neo2 wont boot

    Hi,
    i just built a system with a msi 865pe neo2-S.
At first, i was able to power on and access bios.  Once i started winXP installation, the computer just turned off. Since then, i have not been able to turn the comp on. I have tested each component in a different set up, except for the cpu, and they work fine.  If i plug in the atx power connector to the motherboard then it will power on, but as soon as i plug the 4pin 12v connector to the motherboard, i have the no-power problem (there will be a brief power spike and then it will shut off).  I tried switching psu (to vantec stealth 520) and same happens. Any ideas on what might cause something like this?
    thanks, much appreciative.
    my set-up:
    msi 865pe neo2-s
    p4 2.4ghz 800fsb w/stock hsf
    2x512 kingston hyperx pc3200
    western dig. 180gb hdd
    powercolor ati 9700
    allied 450watt psu

To be honest, the specifications that are mentioned on the E-Bay-Page are very scary.  There is no manufacturer or model name mentioned that can be used to check the information.  That looks like cheap no-name memory in connection with "phantastic" specifications.  Just look at this:
    Quote
    VOLTAGE: 2.5
The standard voltage for DDR2 memory is 1.8V +/- 0.1V.  (2.5V is the standard voltage for DDR(1)).  Sorry to say, but that is way out of line.  2.5V would most likely fry those modules if they were really DDR2 memory sticks.
    Quote
    CAS LATENCY:   3
The Standard Latency for DDR2-800 modules is CL5, not CL3.  CL3 would explain the the need to excessively increase the voltage to 0.6V above DDR2 standard.  However, it is far away from any kind of DDR2 specifications.
    Quote
    CHIP CONFIGURATION:              256x64
        CHIP DENSITY:                                256x4 (High Density)
And then read this little explanation:
    Quote
If you do purchase high density ram and it is incompatible, it is very common for the ram to read as 512mb, 256mb, 128mb or not at all.
If you can find a mainboard that will support such unorthodox memory modules, I would be rather surprised.  Test these modules on another board (I doubt they will work at all).
You should try a set of DDR2-800 memory modules from a known manufacturer with accurate product information.  Maybe you were simply ripped off.

  • P45 neo2-fr system will not boot at all

    CPU: Intel 2Duo, 3GHz, LGA775
    MOBO: MSI P45 NEO2-FR
    RAM:  2 x 1GB Kingston DDR2 , 800MHz
    VID: 2 x Asus EAH4850, ATI crossfire
    HD: Seagate Barracuda 750GB SATA
    Power: Antec 850W TruePower Quattro
    Optic drive: DVD/CD burner
I cannot get this system to boot up.  Everything powers up.  The hard drive is spinning, the fans on the vid card and CPU are spinning, and the CD drive lights up and seems to “POST”.  Nothing comes up on the screen (and I’ve checked the monitor, it works).  There are no POST beeps either.  I had assembled the entire machine (dual vid cards, and two other PCI cards), but when it did not boot, I started the troubleshooting.
I’ve tried an IDE HD.  That didn’t work.  I’ve even took out all the RAM to see if I could even get a POST beep…nothing.  I have the setup now at its basic build; CPU, RAM HD and one Vid card.
Does anyone have any ideas or know of what the issue may be?
    thanks

The machine it back in it's case with all cards and connections and is booting up with the OS that is on the HD (I'll be wiping it for this new config).
I put paper washers between the mobo and risers, that was a trick in itself.
So as of now, I'm good to go.  Now comes the software terrors.  But that's for another thread...
    Thanks again Jack!

Hello guys, this is my new budget system

    - HIS HD3870 IceQ Turbo 512MB DDR4
    - 250GB Seagate HDD
    - Corsair TX650W
Okay the problem is,I hve assembled the system with the above spec and hve noticed that there is no display,I tot it was maybe a bad graphics card problem but when I swapped to other cards as well, there is still no display..I hve no idea what to test on next..I thought it may be a bad RAM as well but I used the RAM 3 days ago and it worked fine...any help or suggestion? Thanks

DOH!  I have no idea how I got it in my head that this was about the E7200.
Yes, Wonk is right, it's not on the supported list.
You could try contacting MSI, but I'm doubting they state that it can work or be able/willing to make a custom bios so it will.  Won't hurt to ask though.
