MSI P4N Diamond, Socket 775 compatibillity
Could anyone please tell if there are any known compatibility issues between a MSI P4N Diamond, Socket 775 motherboard and a PowerColor X800 GTO, 128MB, 256bit video card? I have heard that this video card might have some issues used together with mb based on NVIDIA chipset. Is this true? There some bios updates that can fix such issues? Thnks.
I have sent an e-amil to MSI support and I got this answer:
dear user :
in this case , we will suggest you to use anlther vga card like X800GT /X850 ,
because the are a few customer reported for these
are some status happen if they hope to enable dual-display feature with X800GTO
+ mainboard based on nvidia chipset , and this
status might happen because there are some resource conflict between the X800GTO
and them/b bios .
Any advices?

yesterday i juz got a Gigabyte 3D1 graphic card..so i wanna know..is it MSI P4N Diamond compatible with this graphic card?
thanxQuote
The problem is, this card was only intended to ever be used on that motherboard. It may work in single GPU mode on other boards, but results will vary on other SLI boards.
This line is from the referenced article. It seems to imply that card is intended to be used with the Gigabyte board. -
Msi p4n diamond and memory module setup for dual channel reading
hi,
ive just built my mum a pc using a msi p4n diamond mainboard which has 2 gig of ddr2 667 mhz memory, just wondering how to go about setting it up to dual channel as its currently showing up in boot post screen as being single channel.. Now correct me if i'm doing wrong but it has 2 green slots and 2 orange slots, should there be 1 stick of ram in green and one stick of ram in the oarnage slot to show dual channel or both sticks as they are situe at present in green slots please..
system spec is below..
mainboard - msi p4n diamond
cpu - intel pentium 4 @stock speed 3.0 ghz HT
geforce 8800 gs @ 512 meg of ram
500 gig s-ata hard drive
600 w coolmaster psu
2x1 gig kingston ddr2@667 mhz
first release bios
thank you and hope you can advise me..It's in the manual, if you don't have one you can download from here:
http://www.msi.com/service/download/manual-4385.html
If both sticks are in green as you say then yes it's single channel. For dual channel you want to leave 1 stick in DIMM1, green slot nearest CPU & move the 2nd stick to the orange DIMM3 slot.
From left to right DIMM1/2-green, DIMM3/4-orange, dual is 1 stick DIMM1 & 1 stick DIMM3 or 1 stick DIMM2 & 1 stick DIMM4 or 4 sticks all four slots filled. Single channel is 2 sticks in green slots or 2 sticks in orange slots or not recommended is 3 sticks in 3 of the 4 slots. -
I found this MSI P4N Diamond , worth a wait...

MSI P4N Diamond + 2xMSI 7800 GXT + Pentium 4 Extreme 3.73 CPU OK?
1. Is this a good working combination?
2. Will I have issues when trying to SLI the 2 x MSI 7800's?
3. Does the P4N Diamond support the intel pentium 4 extreme 3.73 cpu properly (I notice a lot of reviews of the P4N Diamond on the 'Net used the intel pentium 4 extreme 3.73 in their tests, but MSI's CPU Support page for the P4N Diamond motherboard shows that it is not yet tested)?
Please help.
Thanks.Quote from: intersite on 15-August-05, 02:53:45
I noticed yesterday that if I install the supplied v77.xx D.O.T. enabled Nvidia / MSI driver, I get 56xx marks in 3D Mark 05 for a single card (approx 500 marks) much higher than the standard WHQL drivers from Nvidia).
This is because of DOT (Dynamic Overclocking Technology). Basically it overclocks your card when the extra performance is needed. As long as you keep an eye on your temps you can do even more overclocking with the standard drivers from NVidia. I believe the program most people use is Coolbits2 (someone correct me if I am wrong). You can use speedfan to monitor the temps and it will most likely be listed as remote 1.
Good Luck

Help!!! Msi P4n Diamond
I am with a problem with mine motherboards would like to know which processors function in the version of the bios v.1.0 so that I can buy to bring up to date the bios to function others processors already vi the list in the necessary site http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=prodcpusupport&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=&prod_no=187 to know which to choose
lo again,
I tried drivers both from MSI, Omega and ATI, ive tried un-installing and re-installing and it just doesnt make it any better. As for the rendering problems, floors look blurry on dod eg. avalanches floor looks blurred and on day of defeat source the buildings with the red brick work looks like iti moving, its really weird also it wont let us run in direct x 9 we have to run it in 8 otherwise we start lagging and get jumpy. Havent got a clue to whats causing this, weve even flashed the bios but thats not solved any of it, im totally mifted. So now ive decided that im gonna buy a new motherboard, im going to get the Gigabyte G1 Turbo 975x chipset and is crossfire ready. I think its the MSI motherboard has something wrong with it but its too late for me to send it back so i ll have to buy a new one.:(:(.

I do not know what is happening!? Was writing to the Msi, i have some ID gold club number..bla bla.. :-) - no answer! D, offcourse.
When I fire up my comp, windows always cannot find a plenty of libraries = missing .dll, and after few reboots crach!!!
Updated Bios corectly, updated all drivers (know how to do!), changed memory few times, changed Gpu, Hdd, Cpu.
Reinstall OS WinXP SP2 over 100 times!!! D. Cann't belive! Madness. Whan I put Win2000 SP4 it is working fine (not normal but fine). Programs that I install are ok. I know how to configure firewall, antivirus etc.
Configuration :
Pentium 3 Ghz, 64bit, 2Mb cache
2x1 GB dual Kingston 533
6600 TD Nvidia 256 Mb
Hdd Wester D. 80 Gb (XP SP2) Sata
Hdd 200 Gb Maxtor Sata II
Power CoolMaster 650 W
Pioneer 110 DVD RW
LG DVD
Do anyone know what's happening?
Seller told me to bring motherboard in the shop, they will check is it working - switch on, switch off..."it is ok", they will say everything is working ok, they will not give a new one!Lol, I forced to work to run on Sata I. Now my system is on Hdd W.D. at Sata I.
First .dll are from system32, then norton, then from zonealarm... Dont say do you now to configure firewall or antivirus cose i know all about firewalls settings for - programs, components, ports, conflicts etc...
Usually after 2-5 reboots cannt go into windows and safe mode, only see windows boot screen and after restart power led is always on?! But whan I install Win2000 SP4 it is ok.
Cannot install Win 64bit at all.
Now I have Mandriva (installed 2 days before)(have no drivers for Marvel and Nvidia controller), working ok.
PS: Didnt wrote all possibilites I tried! Simply i dont know whot i didnt tried!
I was suspecting at first that is Hdd, changed, puted coolers for Hdd, nothing, so I bought the other one.
Anyway I must have one more Hdd 200 Gb...but i will buy the other motherboard if i cannt solve the problem...
Thks for helping me.
If you know any other possibillity please tell me. I am going down with my nervs. -
i have just bought this motherboard and im having trouble with it over heating the cpu every time i encode anything!

yeah intel cooler
At first, you need a computer case with good cooling performance.
Anyway, try to get rid of the original grey thermal grease. That s*cks:) Use white or silver thermal grease.
The CPU manual is unusable.
At first, turn the black fasteners to clockwise (opposite direction of the arrow), then align to the Mb holes, and push hard. You don't need to turn the fasteners again after this. If you lock after align and push, that won't be good. Follow my instructions. -
MSI P7N Diamond LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI Intel Motherboard
I Just got this board today.I dont see much output on this model!!!. I was running Evga 780 . I have 3 Evga 8800gtxs in sli.1x250 gig Western Digital with Vista/XP 3 x150 Raptors in Raid0.Galaxy 1000 PS. 2x2gig sticks of OCZ 6400. Ram. The CPU is a E6850, I switched to this board because the Evga780 did not have a space for External sound Card. The cooler iam putting on my CPU is aThermalright SI-128SE CPU Cooler with a 1 Scythe 120x25mm SlipStream SY1225SL12SH 1,900 rpm 37.00 dBA 110.31CFM DC12V 0.53 A With a Zalman 6 fan controller. All of this is going In a Cooler Master 830 Case. The monitor i run is A Viewsonic 245bw 24". So Anyways does any body have any comments on this board or suggestions or any problems. I would be interested in hearing Them. Thanks
In cell menu...change auto settings for FSB to "Manual" and then adjust CPU FSB in small increments until you get a stable overclock. Ie;..std FSB is 1333mhz...increase it to 1500 mhz and save and reboot. Small increases in CPU voltage may be necessary for a stable OC. If you want to see the full speed in CPU-Z you will have to disable C1E in Advanced bios....CPU...then hit "F4" to show the hidden C1E option. If you dont disable C1E, you will see the true OC fsb in bios when booting, but the C1E will "throttle" the multiplier back in Windows to a 6 or 7. At full load, the max FSB will kick in automatically. Hope this helps get you started in the right track.

[nVidia Series] P4N Diamond Can't load certin Programs
Hi I just built a new pc.
Specs:
CPU- 3.73 GHZ Extreme CPU
VGA- 2X eVGA 7800 GTX KO edition
RAM- 2GB of Corsair XMS DDR 667
HD - 4X Western Digital 320 GB 7,200's
MOB- MSI P4N Diamond
I ran diagnostics on the RAM & Hard Drives and the all have checked out 100%. I have used several diffrent BIOS settings & VGA drivers, but I can not get
CyberLink PowerDVD 6.0 Deluxe Install Problems
LiteOn SmartBurn v3.1.10
Nero 6.6.0.13 Ultra Edition: Nero Burning ROM -> File -> Print Disk Cover
CyberLink PowerCinema 3.0
to install.
The error for Power DVD reads: The remote procedure call failed, then goes on to say invalid memory location for a bunch of different files during setup. My only thought is the MOB is not compatiable with these applications. If anyone could assist me with this problem that would be much appreciated. Here is my power supply specs:
Power Supply: ANTEC TRUEPOWER 2.0; Model: TP2-550EPS12V; 550 WATTS
+5V @ 40A
+12V1 @ 19A
+12V2 @ 19A
+3.3V @ 32A
-12V @ 1.0A
+5SB @ 2.0A
.....and some details of my problems:
The item is not defective. The problem is with SLI technology in general. As it turns out, an SLI computer is strictly a gaming machine and will NOT run normal application software reliably.
Here are a few examples of application software that will not run:
Example 1:
I purchased the MSI ATI Theater 550 Pro TV Tuner. I tested the tuner in a non-SLI computer and it performed at a level of quality well above anything I have ever seen before. I highly recommend this tuner. When I installed the tuner in the SLI system, the Windows Messenger failed to run and produced some really strange error messages (Active Movie errors). An attempt to run CyberLink PowerCinema 3 (the application software bundled with the tuner) will totally freeze Windows XP requiring a re-start.
Example 2:
You can forget trying to install CyberLink Power DVD 6. The installation setup will crash producing a “Catastrophic Error” message during the installation.
Example 3:
Nero Burning ROM 6 will install and you can burn CDs and DVDs but forget the CD Labeling software. An attempt to perform the following action will crash the application:
Nero Burning ROM -> File -> Print Disk Cover
Example 4:
LiteOn SmartBurn v3.1.10 is a utility that enables a user to identify the manufacturer, maximum recording speed and other parameters of a blank CD or DVD simply by inserting the blank disk in the drive and running the application. This application will produce a, “Memory Access Violation”.
.... also i can't pull out the memory because 1 have 2X1GB modules. All of the othe RAM i have is DDR not DDR 2 -
[nVidia Series] P4N Diamond System Randomly Freezes
Please help if you can. I've tried everything.
System Specs.
Pentium D 840
MSI P4N Diamond
4x512 Kingston DDR-II 667 (2 Matched Pairs)
2x 76Gb WD Raptors in Raid 0 (on SIL controller)
2x MSI Geforce NX6600GT-VTD128E
1x Sony 1.44mb FDD
2x Pioneer 109 DVD+/-R/RW
Thermaltake Armour Case
Thermaltake 560W PurePower PSU
Thermaltake Big Typhoon CPU Cooler
Windows XP Pro OEM
System freezes randomly. Tends to happen quicker if I reset the system after the initial freeze. Stress testing makes the system freeze quicker. Has frozen while installing XP five or six times. Sometimes freezes while loading (on the welcome screen). Always the same hard lock, everything stops (including audio etc).
I've got the latest bios and latest drivers (from nvidia).
I have tried almost every possible permutation of Bios Settings.
I have swapped the motherboard.
Tried just a single stick of ram, tried a single stick of another brand and also tried DDR-II 533.
I've tried using both SATA controllers, just a single Raptor (with both drives) and also a single WD1200JB Hard drive.
Tried 3 different 500+ watt PSUs
Tried using a single video card (with both cards)
Tried a P4 650 CPU (just in case the CPU was faulty, I MUST get dual core working though)
I have re-installed XP fresh for every change in hardware configuration.
What else can I do? Has anyone got a setup similar to this working?
Advice would be greatly appreciated. I've spent three days solid on this.
Still going on this one. Tried another PSU.
ANTEC 550W True Power 2.0 TP2550EPS12V

[nVidia Series] P4N Diamond - Very Very Slow!? :(
Hi everyone,
I just recently (3 days) bought a new MSI P4N Diamond (with Digital SLI) motherboard. I have an MSI NX6600 TD256E graphics card, 1GB RAM (Value Select DDR2 - 533 - matched pair), a new PSU - Tagan, +3.3v / 28A, +5v / 48A, +12v / 32A, -12v / 1A, -5v / 0.8A, +5vsb / 2.5A
Running an Intel P4 3.0GHz- LGA775, 630, 800MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache
I have two harddisk drives - from my older system, one is a Maxtor 90GB UATA, and the other is a Seagate Barracuda 150GB
I am running the Seagate drive as primary as it contains my Windows XP SP2, all updated system and it boots up fine - however, the system is tremendously slow! :( I think it's even slower then when i was running my older PII system! Any suggestions? As i am really baffled and disappointed. Perhaps my settings need some adjustment - but i have no clue ! :(
Any help / suggestions will be appreciated - i have looked around the forums, but didn't see anything directly related.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
