MSI P67A-C45 OC settings not showing correctly in windows.

I have a MSI P67A-C45 and been playing about with overclocking. When I overclock it all shows fine in the bios but when I boot into windows, it does not show everything correctly.
I have used CPU-Z, CPUID HWMonitor and the most uptodate msi controlcenter 2. It seems to show the voltages almost correct but the CPU frequency is not the same. See the 2 pictures. One with my bios settings and another of the programs I used in windows.
If I use OC genie is show up all correct, just not if I do it manually. Turned off EIST and most power saving but still the same.
Just another thing, the bios is a bit buggy to. The mouse seems to have a fit and select when I don't want it to or the wrong option. This is while I scroll down on the menu.

I'm having the same issue here, bios 1.5
With EIST disabled, I can get into windows at 4.5GHZ on a i5 2500K
With it enabled, I cant get anywhere beyond 4ghz
I'm going to run some tests now to check, but with EIST disabled, doesn't matter the clock I set on bios, the clock on window will show up always as the default clock speed

  • MSI control center says MSI P67A-C45 is not supported, but it is on the cd?

    Hi Guys,
I'm having a very annoying issue with the MSI control center on my MSI P67A-C45.
When I try to run it says the motherboard is not supported, but the software was downloaded from MSI website under my motherboard model.
Another thing is that the Intel Management Engine Driver didn't run the installation saying my computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements? I'm running Windows 7 x86, core i5 2500K and 8GB ram
    Any tips?
    Regards,

  • MSI P67A-C45 B3 system freezing

    Hello to Everyone,
Please help me if you can !
I also have a brand new system (all components are new) and I am not able to install Win7-64 or Win7-32 onto this system.
    Hardware & Software config :
    - MSI P67A-C45-B3 motherboard
    - MSI PCIe Nvidia N450GTS-MD1GD5 graphic
    - Intel I5-2500 3,3Ghz 4-core CPU with original cooler
    - Cooler Master Elite 500W power supply RS500-ASABL3-EU-GX
    - Western Digital SATA3 1,5TByte HDD
    - Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1333C9 (2pcs of 4GByte RAM put in blue sockets)
    - BIOS version 7673 1J, set on "default" mode, all data in BIOS shows no deviation from specs of installed components.
    - Original box version familiy pack Win7-32 and Win7-64
Voltages are correct, overclocking settings are strictly prohibited.
After trying to boot from original DVD (...no matter whether it is 32bit or 64 bit box version...) the system frozen at the screen right after loading files, before the first graphic screen appears.
I did the memory tests with many different softwares - no results / no problems.
I made HW test of VGA and motherboard from ultimate boot DVD - no results.
    All the cabling perfectly connected.
I also tried to start Ubuntu-64 but the result is the same.... the mem test of Ubuntu shows no problem.
Question : What diagnostic tool you can suggest to detect the "dead" component ?
Or just return it to the shop ?
Thanks for all support or ideas in advance !

Try with just one mem stick. Try clearing cmos and retry >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
There is no further tool if you are outside windows and already tried mem test.

  • MSI P67A-C45 - C-State, Turbo Boost, RAM and UEFI questions

I received my MSI P67A-C45 B3 a few days ago. After having installed the OS and the rest, I tried to enable C-State (no limit) and surprisingly it works (with the B2 it caused a freeze). After some time I noticed a sort of high pitched noise and I knew it was the C-State because I had read it here. So I just disabled it, later I'll tray to see if the other C-States (C3, C6, etc.) work without any noise. I'll also try different combinations of the phase mode, currently I'm using Intel SVID because it has a slightly lower idle voltage.
    1) First thing, why do I hear a noise only when C-State is enabled? I'm curious.
    2) I've also read that disabling the C-State affects how Turbo Boost works, is it true? If yes, what is the difference? Honestly I don't see any relation, one is a power saving feature and the other gives temporary extra performance when needed.
    3) About the B3, I noticed that my RAM (G.Skill Ripjaws 1333MHz) haven't the correct timings, they are one value higher (more loose, for example 10 instead of 9).
This didn't happen with the B2 and UEFI 1.8, all the timings were exactly those in the JEDEC #4 profile. I see that in version 1.9 and 1.A they've improved memory compatibility, perhaps it's related?
Anyway since it doesn't matter to me I just left them on auto.
    4) I'm not planning to update my UEFI (B3 came with v1.9) for a few months since it works fine (except that small RAM problem) and I don't overclock.
I noticed that the latest version is 1.A, so it's normal to use 1.A after 1.9? I've never seen it before.

This might shed some light on question #1. Reply #17; https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=147219.0
    Thanks!
Does someone know anything about question #2?
    @krkrkr
I'm currently using APS mode with C-State enabled and the noise isn't there. The strange thing is that the Vcore is the same both with C-State enabled or disabled. Anyway I think I'll continue using APS mode with C-State enabled, thanks.
Now I have a problem, I'm trying to update the UEFI but it doesn't work. I downloaded UEFI v1.A for the B3, then I used method I of the MSI HQ Tool but during the UEFI update it blocks at "Preparing to take a new BIOS backup". It just stays like that all the time...
    How can I resolve?
Now I still have v1.9 and if I go in the CPU features I get "Error invalid input method" (or something similar, I can't remember properly). Before trying to update it didn't happen.

  • MSI P67A-C45 (B3) - any known problems?

I was seriously considering an MSI board for my dads new £500 gaming PC but when I google MSI P67A-C45 (B3) google showed 5 or 6 links to this forum of problems and it put me off as a few off them were overheating issues..
are there any known problems with this board? im worried I may regret choosing the cheaper board

Quote from: snadge on 25-June-11, 23:51:08
yeah ive been told something similar eslewhere (sandyBridge only supports up to 1333) - but wont they run at 1333mhz anyway? if thats the max the chipset allows? MSI should put (OC) next too speeds above 1333Mhz so users are aware..
I think we will just be getting 1333Mhz then

  • MSI P67A-C45 with 4x4Gb Corsair Vengeance = random freezes in bios

Ok here is the problem i hope you guys can help me with. I recently bought the following rig:
    - MSI P67A-C45 Motherboard
    - 4x4Gb Corsair Vengeance memory.
    - MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC
    - Core i7 2600K
I am having the following issues:
Whenever i put in all the memory, the PC won't boot, it hangs even in the BIOS (at random pages). Everything seems to run fine (except for a minor detail which i will mention later) with 12 Gb installed (3 dimms that is). I have tried changing the voltage to 1.65v but this doesn't change anything. With 12 Gb (or even only 4Gb) installed there is only one weird thing happening:
Whenever the pc wakes from hibernation i get the following error:
“Your system's firmware did not preserve the system memory map across the hibernation transition. If you proceed with resume, your system could behave in an unexpected manner after resume completes. It is recommended that you save all your data and reboot after system resume finishes. Kindly check for a firmware update with your system vender as it may fix this problem."
Then after clicking resume it says i can't resume from the saved state and that it will be discarded (effectively doing a clean boot of the OS).
Can these two problems be related, and if so, is it a hardware problem or some BIOS settings i can try?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Have you tested your mem sticks individually with memtest ? There is always a chance of a defective module.
    2. Test the mem at 1333. Insert only 2, set it to 1333 manually in the BIOS, save and switch off.  Add all modules and see if it boots.
    3. You may also want to reseat your CPU, whilst it's out, check the CPU contact pads for indentations and see if there are any pins on the socket that are bent.
    1. I have tested with 1 mem stick, then with 2, then 3 and then 4 (memtest from bios seems to be the only thing not crashing with 4 mem sticks). So i have not tested everything individually, but in my opinion this should be thorough enough.
    2. I have done this exact thing but then with 3 mem sticks, only adding the last one when switched off, then turning it back on again. I will try with the two so in dual channel, this might make a bit of a difference.
    3. I have reseated the CPU once, it is not a fun thing with the Big Shuriken cooler i have , i'll try this as a last resort.

  • The web site of Adobe does not show correctly in FireFox

I have a bizarre problem.  The site of Adobe (including where I can download the flash player) does not show correctly in FireFox and I only see it as a text HTML page, but without most images (typically, for instance, I do not see the image "Download now" but see a text line "Dowload now", and so on...
This seems to specifically affect the Adobe web site as I have no problme for other web sites (so far).
It is something specific to FireFox as  I do have the problem with Internet Explorer.
The problem persis even if I restart FireFox without any add-on (safe mode).
    Any suggestion ?

Does this only happen in Firefox?  What do you see with Internet Explorer or Chrome?  If it is only Firefox, I'd try these steps in this order:
    1. Clear your cookies and cache
    2. Reset your Firefox settings
    3. Make a new profile

  • MSI P67A-C45 B3 Problems

    Hello,
I recently bought a main board MSI P67A-C45 B3 from a shop in my country ( Romania ) and i had a problem with it as soon as it got home.
I installed all the new components that i got, plugged all the devices, but my computer did not start. I pushed the power on button, but it only stayed on for like 2-3 seconds and then turned off, and it repeated this cycle without me having to push the power on button. I took all the components to the shop i bought them from, so they could tell me whats there to do with my new computer. After a couple of hours they called me and told me that the main board had one pin bent in the CPU slot. I don't think that i could have bent one pin, I've done this before in the past, and this never happened to me.
    What I'm really asking :
Is it possible, out of 1155 pins , for only one pin to be bent when plugging the CPU in its slot ?
    And ,
Can one bent pin be the cause of my computers problem ?
Was i just scammed and put to pay another main board, or is it true what they are telling me ?
    Thanks

Yes, just one bent pin can cause this, you can fix this probably though.
*You can bend those pins by breathing on them too heavily (joke) don't feel like you are the only one to do this.
Get a really bright light and a magnifying glass and find the pin and move it back into place with an eyeglass screw driver or other very small object.
You also may be able to get msi to repair it for you.
If you can get it fixed yourself, try MSI:

  • MSI P67A-C45 Error

Hi wonder if you can help me.
I recently bought a MSI P67A-C45 motherboard and a 2600k. I have only just built it today. Now all went fine until the first time I switched it on.
It's hard to explain on a forum but it made two short but quick beeps then a gap, then another beep. I changed my memory around, removed graphics card but no luck. Anyway Don't know what I did but it started to boot.
Even though it now boots i still keep getting the error noise. I have notice that in the far right corner, these appear, 99 and A3. They look like some sort of error code.  The MSI manual is no help, says nothing sbout this and can't find what I am looking for. This is not a windows error. It happens everytime I start the computer.
    I hope i don't have a bad board.
Also live update don't seem to work.
    Any help Thanks.

About the beeps, please look here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=144787.0 ... they seem to be status rather than error notifications. What they are actually standing for is currently "investigated". You might want to open a ticket @MSI Technical Support as well and ask what those beeps are supposed to mean.  Obviously, they do not indicate errors.

  • Does MSI P67A-C45 supports the latest Sandy bridge Celeron (G530,540 etc)

    Hello all,
Firstly, I'm the new user here, and I found this forum when I'm in the process of 'googleing' for my new system problems...
Okay, I'm the 'proud' user of MSI P67A-C45 motherboard and due to some sort of fund problems, I just bought this mobo and use the lowest end Sandy Bridge line processor, which is Celeron G540 processor. After getting the enough money somewhere around March next year, I will straightly change my processor to Core i5-2500K (which I assume it will be more cheaper than now)... After installing everything on my new rig, suddenly there are no BIOS shown up at all. The power is available, all of the LED's as well as my heat sink fan are running finely. I'm suspecting that this kind of mobo does not support Celeron G540 processor... So how? Anyone here can help me to resolve this problems... It really ruined my day and now I'm typing this on my netbook which irritating.... Some of my friends said that it must be BIOS related problems... because Celeron is just launched recently and perhaps the BIOS bundled with my motherboard are the older one..... Below is my full rig specification...
Processor : Intel Celeron G540 Processor
    Motherboard : MSI P67A-C45 (B3)
RAM : Corsair Value RAM 8GB DDR3 1333MHz (two sticks of 4GB RAM each)
    GPU : Sapphire HD6750
    Power SUpply : Xigmatek NRP-PC502  500W
    Casing : CM Elite 431
    HDD : Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
    SSD : Mushkin 60GB SATA-III SSD
** Planning to replace send back the celeron to the seller and change it to Core i3-2100, Core i3 is usable or not with this mobo?
Thanks guys and I really apologize for my bad English... It's not my mother-tongue language actually

Quote from: Henry on 26-December-11, 07:54:09
You have BIOS 1.9 which should support all of the CPU's you mentioned.
Have you plugged in the 4 pin CPU power (JPWR2) on MB & 6 pin to video card PCIe power plugs?
Yes, I already connected 4-pin cpu power as well as 6-pin PCIe power connector both to my motherboard and graphic card, but the system still refuse to shown up the POST screen... :(  BTW, I already change the processor from Celeron G540 to Core i3 2100... Waiting for the stock available from the seller...

  • Intel SVID Mode Hang - Bios 1.8 - MSI-P67A-C45

Hi, this is a follow up on my previous question - Intel Sandy Bridge i5 2400 Vcore Range - https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=145829.0
"Hi, want to check with you guys what is your i5 2400 Vcore range ? (As reported by CPUZ 1.56)
Mine keep stagnant at 1.19-1.21v between idle and load. I just know that idle vcore should be around 0.9v.
Is this normal ? My CPU frequency did downclock to 1600Mhz (100Mhz x 16) but vcore remained 1.19v.
    My setting are :
    Mobo - MSI P67A-C45 (Bios version 1.7)
GreenPowerMode - APS / Intel SVID (No effect)
CPU Setting - EIST enabled, CPU vcore auto, Spread spectrum on, Vdroop control high. CIE support on, Intel C state on, Power technology Custom/Energy efficient (No effect), Intel Turbo Disable
    All other setting on auto
Despite any setting I tweak and even optimised default, the vcore remained 1.19v although clock downed to 1600mhz. Any idea ? TQ !"
After I update to the latest bios 1.8 and set the GreenPowerMode to Intel SVID mode, the vcore now dropped to 0.8-0.9v which is nice
However, it will hang after some time in the window desktop every time. Meanwhile, if i set the GreenPowerMode to APS mode it was stable
But vcore remained at around 1.16v as above situation. Anybody experience hang on Intel SVID mode ?

You may want to consider giving the latest BETA UEFI Release as try:

Quote from: Galahaddulac on 24-August-11, 20:25:47
MSI tech Support conformed again that it is a dummy temperature:
"Regarding your concern, would you please take a picture for the temp which you checked. TMPIN1 is dummy temp. Please don't worry about it. Please make sure TMPIN0 and TMPIN2 are normal. TMPIN0 is CPU temperature, TMPIN2 is motherboard temperature. Thanks!"
"Please don't worry about that, we have checked BIOS code and circuit, we don't find the TMPIN1. It is dummy temp."
So MSi tech says, it is not an actual temperature! What do you guys think about that?
The engineers looked in to it & gave a response as to their findings. Unless it can be proven otherwise, there is no choice other than to take them at their word. Unfortunately, I don't have a series C mainboard to do my own testing on, but I can tell you the Z68 in use at the moment, TMPIN1 reads -20C. We all know that is a bogus reading.
It may even be prudent to contact the 3rd party utility developers & ask them about it as well. At this point, it looks like the only way to confirm what the actual temp of the PCH is, & it is still a concern, would be to take the rig to a PC shop that has an IR thermal test tool & have it checked, or purchase one & test it for yourself.
