MSI P67A-G43 (B3) No Video

No video, no keyboard lights. New build.
New GeForce GTS 450, top PCI-e slot, moved to lower. Switched to working PCI-e card. No video. GPU fans work.
4 lights, no beeps. Starts and then stops once or twice. Then 3rd time stays on.
No keyboard lights (not USB).
Tried one stick of RAM left blue slot, then tried black.
Front power button turns on but not off, likely my wiring fault.
Monitor working condition, power light on.

If it definitely is the power supply and definitely not the motherboard can you suggest something not too expensive? From NewEgg I can't figure out what to get in the Corsair +12 volt and 30-35 amps range.

    Explanation
I recently changed my motherboard from gigabyte+amd 955(worked flawlessly) to an intel core i7 2600k and the current mobo, i kept all the previous components and now i am having trouble booting up my pc. It starts and all the comps seem to work no beep but the monitor LED turns off and on and there is not even a "no signal" notice therefore i dont think its my video card causing the issue.
What could it be? I heard that CPU is the least faulty component.
Is the memory compatible or should i switch? worked fine on previous build.
    Or is it the mobo?

Thanks for the help it happens that it was my dumb monitor not working in hdmi or dvi controller.  Funny cause the component works fine on my ps3.....
So no problem whatsoever just my monitor worned out and needs to rma because its been only 1 year.
But before you leave i had to remove the cpu to check if i put it right... and maybe some thermal contact worn off a little bit because the motherboard bios in the OC section is displaying 55 degrees celcious is that normal(the bar reaches red section)? Room temp 74 degrees. also hardware monitor displays 40 degrees celcious each core Which one should i believe.

  • MSI P67A-G43 (B3) - Need help identifying this postcode

    Need help identifying this postcode:
    CPU:i7-2600k
    Mobo:MSI P67A-G43 (B3)
    PSU: Corsair 750w
GPU isn't the problem since I replaced it and still get this postcode. RAM isn't the problem since I've tried four different sticks one at a time in each slot and still get the postcode. Getting no live video from the GTX580 and no onboard video. I think either the mobo or the CPU is the problem, don't want to have to send both in for RMA so if anyone can help me identify the postcode that'd be great.

    Hey Ctrl
Well I happen to have the same beep code on my motherboard (P67A-C43 B3), after trying different suggestions from the MSI forum users and MSI technical support I ended up RMA(ing) my motherboard.
You can try resetting the CMOS, by flipping the battery and leaving it like that for 5 minutes and putting it back to its original side. I highly doubt it is your cpu. Like anybody in the forum might suggest, try different components which appears you already did. I doubt your corsair is faulty. CPU and motherboard are your best bet that are faulty, and i highly doubt that it is the CPU because for there to find another person (you) that had the same problem as me since last friday (RMA board yesterday, wednesday) I find it highly unlikely.

You can play COD2 in single player mode? If so, then I would think that you have a game set-up problem with the mutli player mode.
Just do a search on the net for that error message and you will see you are not alone. Go to the game manufacturers site and check for game updates. It could also be related to direct X installation.

    MB: MSI P67A-G43
    HD: Seagate 1TB
    DVD: HP 1260
    CPU: Intel i5 2500K
I just built my first PC.  In the BIOS I had it set to boot first from my DVD drive that has a 64-bit version of Windows 7 loaded.  No matter what I tried, I received the message: "Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device"
So I have been on the phone with technical support, and they suggested I download a driver update, which I found HERE.
I have tried installing both the driver and the BIOS updates, but every time it says that the boot from the pen drive failed and to check the USB drive and ROM.
I've looked for answers all over the web, but the only ones I find assume that you've previously had Windows installed.  This is a first boot though, and I really don't know what to do next.  Can anyone help with this?
    thanks!

If anyone would like to take a look at these OC settings that are default with my board as to a reason why it wouldn't be booting from the DVD drive or accepting the RAM, I would appreciate it.

  • MSI P67A-G43 (B3) Boot Password - How to reset?

I am currently locked out of my MSI P67A-G43 (B3) machine, due to a bootup password. Recovering the password is not an option, I want to reset it.
I have already attempted clearing the CMOS (both with the jumper pad and with the button), and neither appears to have worked. The password has persisted through the reset. The ClickBIOS has not been updated since the board was purchased, which was one year ago.
    Any help?

Other than advice already given we do not assist in attempts at bypassing or hacking BIOS/system passwords. Reason being we have no way of knowing if parts are stolen or not or whatever reason you can't use the original p'word that was entered.
If you want to you can ask MSI for further assistance but this forum can't help with that.

  • MSI P67A-G43 b3 Fan Control ?

    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P67A-G43--B3-.html#/?div=Detail
    my board has - CPU x 1 / System x 4 FAN connectors
I have a CPU fan and 3 system fans connected. CPU fan is plugged into the CPU fan I/O
the 3 system, fans are plugged into #1, #2 and #3 fan ports.
so here is my dilemma. For some reason only my CPU fan and fan 1 and fan 2 or recognized. I can adjust their fan speed as i need to with no problems.
But anything i plug into port #3 or #4 is not recognized for fan control. I have swapped out which fans are plugged into all 4 system fan ports but they dont show up as even being installed when i plug them into #3 or #4. any fan i plug into the 1 or 2 spot is seen and can have speed adjusted.
Anyone know what may be causing this?

There is no monitoring or control for those fan headers, its just a power header. Most MBs only allow control for CPU and Sys #1 and # 2 at most.
If you wish to control more fans, you will need an aftermarket fan controller.

Now im not sure what those timpin's stand for but if i am right that means the processor or motherboard are burning, However i don't smell any fire or smoke. Is the board faulty, the processor? Or is it a flawed reading.
I did run the test for about an hour or more.

All the posts in this thread and others I've seen around seem to indicate the sensor is off AND that heatsink reseating can lower the temp.  So I am going to reseat the heatsinks and apply new thermal paste.  When I touch the heatsinks, they are HOT, hot enough for me to be a bit worried but it doesn't seems like there is alot of people having burned boards so it may not lead to stability issues.   The chipset heatsinks on the board also have a suprising amount of wiggle, it seems kinda of loose and not solidly attached to the chipset.
MSI also talks about using high grade capacitors so I'm hoping these are more resilient to heat.
All my other temps are ~65c under load(even overclocked to 4ghz) which I'm ok with.  My box is a silent box < 20db so I'm not looking to add any more fans or etc to it.  IF my mb burns I'm just going to return it and get another manufacturer's board as a replacement.  I never have had problems with MSI boards in many years so I hope it doesn't come to that but it doesn't seem like this is happening to other folks so I'm optimistic.
What exactly are these 'heatsinks'? The mosfets? The PCH/SB/6 series chipset, however it is desired to be called, is under the heatsink screenshot shown. What is the PCH temp?

  • MSI P67A-G43(B3) squealing noises

So, I just got this mobo about 3 weeks ago and built a new system with it. Since making this system, we've been hearing a horrible off and on squealing noise from it, that we thought to be the PSU at first, then the CPU fan, then a case fan, then the video card.. etc etc, but it turns out it was none of those! It actually turns out it's the mobo making this stupid squealing noise!!
The noise happens mostly when the computer isnt doing anything, and for the most part stops when it's doing  like running a game or something that takes alotta power from it.
So the way I saw it was that the mobo has to be dying or something to be making such a crummy noise, and wanted to RMA it. However, it's 1 week past the return process for amazon now (we took too long to figure the issue out apparently), and now I cant return it there. Soooo, I went to google the issue thinking maybe there's a better solution to the noise, and found someone saying they had a squealing board (same model as mine), and fixed it via a bios update.
However, the board shows we're on bios ver 1.9, which looks like the latest official release. Then there's ones like 1.I and such, that I believe are beta releases?
So im at a bit of an impass here. Do I flash the bios to 1.I and see if it fixes the issue? or do I just get another mobo?

The most common cause of that is a PSU with too much noise on the power lines:

  • MSI P67A-G43 (MS-7673) System Freezes and then will NOT Restart

    Hello Everyone,
I was hoping someone out there might know what is going on with my system. My issue began about a week ago when my computer simply froze while in use. After realizing the system was not responding I hit the reset button and tried to restart, however the computer restarted to a black screen (NO words) and went no further. I turned off the power supply to force a shut down, turned it back on and then tried to restart again, only this time the computer went into a cycle where the lights flash, the fans run for 2-3 seconds, but the “all clear” beeps never sound and then everything turns off. The only way to stop the cycle is to cut the power. Because this cycle happened when I first built the computer (as a result of an improperly connected cable) I thought something inside the case might be lose, so I opened it up, removed everything  and then put it back together.
This time when I started the system I got a screen that said “Previous overclocking has failed…” Now I have never tried to overclock my computer, nor do I know how, so I do not understand WHY my computer would give such a message. After this message however, the computer did actually restart and take me to windows, however the computer inevitably freezes again after use, sometimes after only a few seconds, sometimes after a few hours.
Furthermore, once I shut down the computer and try to restart it, it almost always goes into the cycle of trying to restart, but failing. When it does get past the ‘all clear’ beeps I get the failed overclocking message again. I did just discover a “super-charger.exe” MSI application that was trying to run every time I started the computer and I uninstalled the application, I’m not sure if that had something to do with the overclocking or not. I also took out 3 of the 4 memory sticks and I am running on just 1. For the moment (while I write this post) the computer is working but could very well freeze again at any time, though just now it did start up withOUT the overclocking message and went right to windows.
Thanks for taking the time to read through my problem. This issue has been going on for more then a week, ANY help would be VERY much appreciated!

If it is fine with one stick RAM, add the second so that both blue slots are used. If ok, then remove the second stick & replace it with one of the other sticks. If ok, try the last stick. If any of the tests fail with any of the sticks in the second slot, you found the bad one.

  • P67A-G43 Won't POST

I’m at my wits end with this new build and need help, or a shoulder to cry on.
New build gives five solid beeps on POST…, no video.
Build is being done on a breadboard, so no issues with mobo shorts.
MSI P67A-G43 mobo, (times 2). (Thought first board was DOA, cross-shipped replacement.)
Intel i5-2500K didn’t work in either board, picked up an i5-2500 locally thinking the unlocked 2500K wasn’t supported with the boards’ BIOS.
Four different power supplies, using 4 or 8 pin secondary (CPU/ATX) connectors in addition to the main power connector.
Four different  sticks of DDR3 1333 in every imaginable slot configuration.
Two sticks of DDR3 1666 in every possible configuration.
    Two different video cards.
    Reset CMOS numerous times.
Tried booting with video card out, same with RAM, no joy.
    I’m stumped.
    Any thoughts?

Sorry to see that one person can have so much trouble with two boards
At this point I would try my components on a known good board. Yes, I know, where to go to ? Friends, family maybe a helpful local PC store/supplier.
The likelihood of two bad boards is pretty remote, but, although it is highly unlikely, nothing is ever impossible. Its time to test everything individually by exchanging parts with a working system.
Trust that the bottle of wine might have brought some more insight along with it.

  • No sound on P67A-G43

I can't get the back panel sound to work on the P67A-G43 board. Windows recognizes the realtek driver and shows that there is an output signal when I play music or a video with sound.
I am pretty sure that I installed the realtek driver correctly. It detects when I plug in my speakers or microphone.
I've tried all four combinations of the advanced options and nothing worked. I am getting some sort of signal through my microphone, but I can't figure out what it is. My case does not have front audio panels so I can't test those. I've tested with both headphones and speakers that I know work.
    msi P67A-G43 (MS-7673),  BIOS 1.B
    Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
msi GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin FrozrII
    Corsair 2x2GB TW3X4G1333C9A XMS3
    Thanks.

I just streamed my screen to a different computer. Other computers viewing the stream can hear my audio just fine. My mic-in gets a static signal even if i plug my headphones into the microphone jack. At this point I think I might just have a faulty board. I suspect my front audio would work fine if I had a case that supported it. If I can't think of anything else to try soon I'll probably just get a replacement.

  • New builder: P67A G43 won't POST (I think..)

Hey all, this is my first post, and incidently I'm also building my first pc. I've run into a problem and I don't know what to do! My rig is as follows:
    Mobo: MSI P67A G43
    CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K
    GPU: MSI N560GTX Ti
    RAM: 2x4gb Corsair XMS3 (1333)
    PSU: Seasonic x650
I have NOT yet installed an OS, as I havent picked one up yet.
When I turn on the computer, I get 3 SHORT beeps: the first 2 are the same pitch, the 3rd beep is higher. Right after, the "msi military class II" logo flashes on the screen. Immediately after that, I get the following message: "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media...etc,etc". I can enter the bios, however I have to frantically hit the DEL key after turning on the comp, and there is no screen or message that says to do so during the above process. As this is my first build, I'm not well versed on what exactly a POST screen is, or if my specific mobo even has one.
Are these beeps normal? Am I supposed to see a POST screen at some point? I am aware that MSI boards give beeps based on the number of USB devices connected, however I get the same beep code without any USB devices connected.
EDIT: Google has brought me to other threads on this same topic, and it has been suggested that memory could be an issue, or an overheating CPU. When I am in the bios there is a memory test app available, and it indicates that my RAM is fine. As well, the bios indicates that my CPU is running at 32-33C. So I don't think that either of these things is an issue, but Im new and could be completely wrong.

1.Pull out video card and RAMs and reinsert carefully, confirming it's not loose. Visually inspect CPU cooler during.
2.Check if you've connected all the power cables to MoBo and Video card. Reinsert them, to confirm tight connection.
    3. don't clear CMOS so often
    4. no need to manically hit Del button, just wait for the beep, and when you see the keyboard diodes flash, start pressing slowly ~ 2x pre second for example
    5. are you sure about the beep code?  i haven't heard different pitch beeps before
    6. go into BIOS, load defaults, and check all 66 items turn off green power and other exotic enhancements for now
But seriously - all devices should be properly recognized - CPU,RAM, HDD and optics, check IDE/SATA/AHCI settings, temperatures, voltages, boot sequence, integrated peripherals, etc.
Double check CPU clock, multiplier, FSB speed, memory speed and ratio.
    7. get a live Linux or Windows CD to boot up the system directly from CD
    8. start Aida64 HWMonitor from USB (or what you prefer) to again confirm temps/voltages and FSB, CPU and memory speed... and RAM size/configuration properly recognized
    9. Start testing system stability with Prime95 (or else), and be around to watch the temperatures
    10. test video card for artifacts. I used AtiTool for mine, not sure what is good for 560GTX?
If fail, start pulling out you components -
one RAM stick out -test again
video card out - test again with Intel's GPU.

-Thermaltake Frio (Which actually does a great work, because my ambient temps are between 35 and 38 celcius degrees, and it keep my CPU at 38 on IDLE -when no OC'ed and 63 MAX when fully loaded playing games)
    -Normal HD
    Thats all the relevant.
Let me show you the options that i'm able to see in the BIOS:
1-General Bios Options under Overclocling Menu:
    2-CPU Features topic:
3-CPUZ summary: (By the time i took that screenshot, it had a overclock by multiplier to 42, following disabling and enabling things like: Disable:
    Limit CPUID Maximum
    Power Technology
    C1E Support
    OverSpeed Protection
    Spread Spectrum
    Enable:
    Internal PLL Overvoltage
    Execute Disable Bit
    Intel Virtualization Tech )
As you can see, no mather what i do, i always get 3.891as core speed. Intel Turbo boost gadget show me 3.9 when load, but still not getting 4.2 as it supposed to be.
I saw some people post and videos, someo of them managed to get this processor to 4.5Ghz, i dont wanna that now, just get 4.2 (as appears in the BIOS UEFI after set the core ratio to 42).
I see some of them options and they are able to modify the BLCK and raise it up to 100. One of those videos i saw show how raising it value a bit more the 2600(non K) get 4.5Ghz or so as you can see here: youtube.com/watch?v=lOyTpi-OoCI
Can any one give me a hand with this? Check CPUZ, never go upper x39.
    Thank you.

The only OC you can get with 2600 is by 'Turbo Boost' and that according to specs is "Max Turbo Frequency 3.8 GHz". I sure don't know where you got the idea you can OC non 'K' CPU but where ever or whoever you got that idea from is dead wrong. For sure you need a 'K' model CPU if you want more OC than 'Turbo' on the non 'K' CPU.
     Edit:  http://ark.intel.com/products/52213
I had a 2600K and ran it 24/7 for a while at 4.6 GHz but dropped to 4.3 GHz after a month or so at the higher speed.
I got the idea from such videos like this: youtube.com/watch?v=lOyTpi-OoCI and many other info i found in web about it.  And by the way, the max i got so far is 4.0, not 3.8, i know, it shound't be, but it does, and seems like i'm not the only one.
Here is a screenshot from my PC:
@Froggy Gremlin Thanks, man. Gotta give a try, but in the second picture i post, i'm inside CPU features and Core ratio limits doesn't appear.
