Msi p67a-gd65 mouse and keyboard freeze - blinking caps lock.

As the title says, my mouse and keyboard suddenly froze while I was chatting on Skype and I noticed that my system was still running. In fact, my razer mouse light was also blinking. The caps lock had a sort of sequential blink, although I'm not sure.
Anyway, I had to use the power button to shut down the system and everything seems normal again. Does anyone know what would cause this? Is it a software issue or due to my board?
I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate.

p67a-gd65 motherboard
Intel i7 2600K
2x MSI 6970 graphic cards
Seasonic SS-850HT 850W PSU
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
ADATA S599 system hard drive
ADESSO keyboard and Razer Deathadder mouse
This was the first time this sort of thing has happened. I did have to replace (RMA) my PSU once before due to a random shut down issue but that was resolved. I'm really curious as to why this would happen and I'm hoping it's a software issue and not something related to the USB ports on the board.

  • P45-C51 mobo. Mouse and Keyboard freezes frequently. Please Help !!!

Hi everyone. I just bought P45-C51 mobo a week ago. It was working fine then since yesterday and then frequently today I'm facing a real problem. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Whenever I start my computer and it reaches the desktop, after a couple of minutes the mouse and keyboard stops responding but the windows is not hanged as I can simply press the power button and it normally shuts down within 5 to 10 seconds. I checked it both with USB and PS2 version of the keyboard but both seems to freeze. I first thought it was something in windows but i think its something from the bios because when i turned my pc ON and went to the bios then there after 5 minutes the keyboard was frozen but the bios was normal as i could see the seconds change on the system information screen. Can anyone please point me in the right direction what could be the cause of this problem. All the specs are as follows.
    Mobo: MSI P45-C51 (MS-7519)
    Processor: Core 2 Quad Q8400
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8gb kit 1600Mhz (4x2)
    GPU: EVGA GeForce GT 240 DDR3 1GB
PSU: Cooler Master Extreme Power 460 Watt
Casing: Cooler Master Elite 334 Nvidia Edition
    HD Primary: WD2500AAKX 250GB
    HD Storage: WD10EARS 1TB
    Bios Version: 5.7
Cooler: So far none. I'm on air cooling. One CPU fan and two chassis fans.
Temps for CPU are under 40 degrees.
    Please help anyone...

Inspect all your USB ports carefully for any visible damage inside the ports itself. Test if a USB device can be inserted smoothly into each one.
As a last resort, remove the MB and test on a non-conducting surface, and remember an anti static bag is not a non-conducting surface.
Have you started your system in safe mode to test the ports ?
Hi Bernhard, Sorry for the late response. This problem was something related to that board physically as I searched and dig inside the motherboard basics in deep I found out that the ICH10 Usb Host Controller was giving me problems or their might actually be some problem with the South Bridge because thats what controls the low power accessories like usb, IDE sata etc... and thats why the keyboard and mouse was hanging. There were some more issue too with that board like Slow boot and resuming from hibernate took about 3 minutes and when I press the power button for the cold power on it usually power on after 3 seconds and some times it happened if i properly shutdown and then again power on it won't turn on (LEDs and fans start but no power on to the system) So i would have to switch off the power supply, disconnect the power cord and then wait 5 minutes and then reconnect and it turn on then.
What i did was go to the shop from where I bought the mobo and told him all the problems and replaced my board with a new one because it was in warranty and bought only eleven days before.
Thanks alot Bernhard for so much your time you spent on helping me on this issue. The new board seems to work great and I can see very significant different in performance and speed.
Two last queries I have if you can help me out. Can you tell me If i can use Cooler Master Hyper n520 Cooler on this board. I have CM Elite 334 Nvidia Edition Casing. And second thing is that the bios of this board 5.1 and the latest is 5.7. Should I care updating the bios version? If yes then do you suggest any hints on how to do this ?
I really appreciate your help you have done so far.

  • How to fix the mouse and keyboard freezing when installing Windows 7 on 27' iMac late 2013?

Hi, I have a question for u guys who can solve this.
I recently bought the new 27' iMac late 2013, and I installed some softwares and used it for few days.
Before I bought this I used the 15' Macbook Pro Retina, I installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and I used the Windows for gaming.
    So back to my question.
So I bought the new iMac and I was tying to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (with the same CD).
After dividing the partition, and other stuff, the iMac rebooted and I hold down the option (alt) key. I choose the Windows CD, and it said it is "getting ready to install Windows". I let it load, and the blue screen where you choose the language, time/location and keyboard input popped up. At the bottom right corner (at the same page), there is a button that said "Next (N)" which u need to click it to go to the next step. I was moving my mouse to click the button, but I realized that my mouse and keyboard was frozen. I tried both wireless and wired mouse and keyboard but they didn't work. There was nothing I could do. I hold the power button, (that was the only option) and tried my mouse and keyboard on Mac OS and it worked fine.
I thought something went wrong in the CD so I bought the Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The result was same. It frizzed again. (I just wast few hundred $)
Latter my friend lend me his Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit. I tried it, and it worked, it didn't freezed on Windows 8.
The problem is I played Battlefield 4, Titan fall, and Watch Dogs, and Battlefield 4 multiplayer doesn't work on Windows 8.1. Even though when it works on Windows 8, I prefer using Windows 7.
Dose anyone knows how to fix this freezing thing?
    My computer is:
27' iMac late 2013 (bought it just few days ago)
I did no upgrades when I bought it, except the graphic card.
I bought the iMac in Korean Apple Store, and my Windows CD is in Korean, can that be a problem?
Please leave a comment when u think u can solve my problem.

    See -> http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf.
In addition to the Windows disc (or USB flash drive with the Windows installer) you'll need a 8GB+ flash drive.
The referenced manual - on page 3, I think, gives you a run-down of what you'll need before you begin the installation. You may also want to post any further Boot Camp questions in the Boot Camp forum -> https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp.

  • Mouse and keyboard freezing when first turn on computer

Everytime I fully shut off my computer and turning it back on, my mouse freezes when i press something on my keyboard. Even my keyboard stops working. This problem stops happening after i restart my computer, then my mouse and keyboard starts working. Because of this i keep my computer on all the time so i don't have to keep restarting everytime i start the computer. Is this a normal problem and is there a way to fix this? It tends to get really annoying.

Imac G5 with OSX 10.5.8, and imac G5.2 with 10.6.8
The same problem after transfering my folders from the G5 to the G5.2
I have to keep unpluging the keyboard and pluging it back in again, to free the mouse or keyboard.
I've changed both the mouse and keyboards.
I've done the both the SMC and PRAM resets,  permissions fix, and virus searches.
    No results.
This is a long discussed problem, has anybody found a fix?
    Please lemme know.
    Thanks

Hate to say it but you are either posting on the wrong forum or don't know which Mac you own. This is a Intel based iMac forum, as all G5 iMacs were PPC based that would indicated you are on the wrong forum. If you have an Intel based iMac (click About this Mac and check for the microprocessor) then you are on the correct forum.
You did not indicated if the keyboard or mouse are wired or wireless and if they are Apple or not. However, after determining if you have an Intel based iMac then redo the SMC and PRAM resets at least 3X each back to back and then retest. To be sure you are doing each reset correctly please click

  • Mouse and keyboard freezing

My computer has been running a bit slower lately, and I frequently lose mouse and keyboard control. Mostly happens after closing my laptop, and opening it again later. It will happen sometimes after disconnecting an audio interface while running Mainstage, or Logic Pro.
I run Adobe AE and Illustrator, and Logic Pro often. At first I was only having issues only when running two or more, but now it happens even when not using them.
I restart my computer about once a day because of these issues. Processes will continue normally, but I lose complete control.
I also am having problems with some of my adobe softwares, because of upgrading to Mavericks. I am thinking that I need to do a fresh install, and copy and past all of my documents, and picture files over, and reinstall all of my software. Thoughts?

  • Mouse and keyboard freeze

Hello to the community, I've a newest iMac 27 with pre installed Yosemite system, bought four weeks ago...
On today OSX is started to make me freeze the keyboard and the mouse during normal use.
The only way to save unsaved works is connect via TeamViewer from onother machine and save files, but if I try to restart or logout (as a tips on another thread instead to hit restart) the imac doesn't go to login and stay with a grey screen...so the only way is to shout down with pressed button.
Never happen before got it, right now my imac works fine but today I've this problem with yosemite...and more other minor problems...
    Anyone experienced this issue?
ps: I've a wired mouse and logitech mouse, no wireless stuff
    Alex

mmmm I don't think Apple phone experts can help me about because Yosemite has a tons of bugs and it's very frustrating.
I have another Mac pro with others bugs.
I Would like so say if others got this issue.
I Noticed there are others topics on crashes and freezes.

  • Why does my mouse and keyboard freeze periodically?

I have a Macbook Pro that I bought at the end of last July. It's been working perfectly until just recently.
For whatever reason, periodically the screen will freeze. I can't move the mouse, and I can't type anything on the screen. It typically unfreezes anywhere between 15-45 seconds later. Things like movies or songs playing don't freeze when this happens, only the keyboard and mouse. Once it unfreezes, it's perfectly fine.
Is there any reason it would be doing this?

I just got my first bluetooth mouse and I've had problems with it disconnecting multiple times per day! I don't understand why! I have a mid-2012 13" MacBook Pro with OS X 10.8.2. I was using a Logitech wireless usb mouse but it would disconnect when teh computer went to sleep and I had to unplug the nano receiver and plug it back in every time for it to work again. So I decided to get a bluetooth mouse to see if I would have better luck with it. Well this is disconnecting a lot! It's so annoying! My new mouse is a gigabyte M7700B notebook bluetooth wireless mouse. There is no software from gigabyte to use with this mouse. It's paired properly.
What can I do to remedy this situation? The only problems I can find online for a bluetooth mouse disconnecting is with the Apple bluetooth mouse. I don't have that so it isn't helping me.
Is this just a problem with the bluetooth in Mac's?? It's been a problem for years as far as I can tell. My mac is relatively new. Help!

  • Mouse and Keyboard freezing. OS10.6.8

MacBook Pro 2008/9. OS10.6.8. Connected to external monitor, keyboard and mouse. After years of problem-free use the keyboard and mouse have started freezing with increasing frequency. Both keyboards and external and integrated mouse freeze. A few functions still work (e.g. cmd/alt/esc generates Force Quit but it is impossible then to select something to force quit). The up/down keys work and some of the function keys. But it is impossible to select things with the mouse or change between open windows. So the only solution I have found is to hold down the power switch and fully reboot. I can't identify a trigger for the freezing but if I leave the machine for more than 30 minutes it will almost always freeze. So far, only rarely (just once) actually during working. Any help to avoid the reboot (and consequent risk of loss of work) would be very helpful.
    Thanks.

  • Mouse and keyboard freeze under Win 7 Pro Bootcamp on 10.9.1

    People,
This is an interesting (if frustrating) issue. I have previously had Windows 7 Pro running wonderfully under ML 10.8.x and I removed the partition when I had no further use for it. Last night I decided to re-install. I am using the wired Apple keyboard and a wired USB Microsoft mouse. I used Bootcamp Assistant as before to create a USB installation while downloading the latest Bootcamp software from Apple.
Windows 7 Pro installs fine, and then reboots. The first time I get to the low resolution Windows desktop everything is also OK. I then install the Bootcamp drivers, allow the installation to complete and reboot.
At this point Windows boots to desktop in appropriate iMac resolution...except the keyboard and mouse do not function. It may well be a USB port issue, as swapping another keyboard and mouse a) doesn't help or b) make the distinctive 'USB device connected' sound.
I may download an older version of the bootcamp drivers and try again.
    Anyone have any thoughts?
    Regards,
    Steve
PS: I'm using the followig hardware
    27" iMac - 3.4Ghz i7 - Late 2012
    32GB RAM
    1TB Fusion
    2GB GTX 680MX

I was able to dowload the support software and paste it over the old support software in the USB Winstall that Bootcamp created before, however the same issue is persisting after I get to the screen to set up windows. I get no response from the mouse and the keyboard. Any suggestions?
I'm using a iMac 27in (2013), a wired apple keyboard, and a Logitech wireless mouse.

  • Mouse and keyboard freezing up in Mavericks. What do I do?

Since switching to Mavericks, while working in Ableton Live, Adobe Premiere and other programs on my 27" 2013 iMac, my mouse cursor will dissappear and keyboard will cease working, except when I push cmd-option-escape.  Pushing that brings them both back.  Any insight here?

This is exactly my problem as well, c'mon Apple! Also, when I open Ableton I get a "ReWire requires Open Transport" Warning.. Click through, works for 10-20 minutes then the program stalls and the entire system is frozen.
This is incredibly frustrating! The last time apple upgraded the OS they essentially rendered my audio interface obsolete after YEARS of flawless performance, and now this. Can we please get an OS upgrade that doesn't wipe out our system configurations and render our software unusable? How about less hype and more testing. I pay a healthy premium for Apple products because they tend to "just work".
Hard rebooting my laptop every 20 minutes is not "just working"

  • MSI P67A GD65 Multiplier and software problems

    Hi
i just bought i5 2500k and Msi mb, it came with 1.4 bios version and the maximum multiplier that i could log into Windows was 44 even though the vcore adjustment didnt work properly
maxing out at 1.224 (bios reading) no matter the voltage set manually, I updated to 1.7B4 and i was able to get into windows at 46x100 the downside of the new bios was the memory suddenly stopped working at 2133 10-11-11-30 1.65v even 12-12-12-30 would end up in oc failed message so i had to settle for 1866. Now i updated  to 1.8B5 and i can run my memory at 10-11-11-30 again no problem but
maximum muliplier went down to 44... again  - theres no way to make system work with 45 or higher multiplier so basically  oc-wise 1.8B5 is like 1.4 with vcore adjustment working properly/pll fix - Plz p67 users need proper bios.
Second problem is that Overcloking center crashes with 0xc0000005 code right after launching exe - first happened on my old XP SP3  so i installed fresh Win7 unfortunatelly its the same story.

Ok now im mad i flashed back to 1.7B4 and guess what i cant choose any multiplier above 44! Whats weird is that although bios version says 1.7B4 its behaving exactly like 1.8B5
Every time i changed some voltage option in bios V1.4 or V.1.7B4 the pc would power down and then power up, since 1.8B5 it would just reset. That and inability to go above x44 when just yesterday
i could go x46 (i didnt check more as i want to run my SB below 1.35vcore) makes me think my cpu is artificially locked and ability to go above x44 in 1.7B4 was just an accident that was
corrected in 1.8B5 whch has some code inside that prevents (in case somebody wants to downgrade) to update data responsible for cpu oc.  Another example supporting that is that my cpu can
boot up at 4.4 ghz@stock voltage (1.168 in bios) log into windows and run some tests , of course it would freeze and reset  randomly after some seconds or minutes but still... On the other hand changing the mulitplier  to 45 and vcore up to 1.4v doesnt even make HDD start spinning and load WIndows after the MSI logo screen vanishes, its just seems locked.

  • MSI P67A GD65 System Freezes while Gaming

    hey
i m facing system hangs/freezes while gaming. it is all along working fine but suddenly problem arrises outta nowhere.  mostly happens in Metro Last Light Game.  i did change multiple things like 2 different rams stick, Bios are 4.1v (at default), i tried 2 different GPUs like 290 and 580 but stilll facing same issue. dont know why.
if you can help on it this, it would be alot appreciated.

What is the actual power supply?
    Follow this >>Posting Guide<<
Make sure you run latest BIOS.
PS: Intel ME driver is crucial, without it system won't work properly, and that's why it didn't freeze anymore. Same applies to GPUs: if you have 400W power supply and want to run 2-way SLI, it will be fine until you install drivers, which make the computer and graphic cards recognise how much power they have and so on

  • MSI P67A-GD65 and other 1155's whine

    Hello MSI and community.
Recently I decided to build a PC especally for minimun noise.
I waited a long time for the B3 boards so I wouldn't have to go through the trouble of returns. Sadly this didn't work out.
First of all I ordered the cheapest and first mobo(gigabyte ph67-ud-b3) that was relesed. Soon as I plugged it in and Windows 7 got to boot screen (from the DVD) it started giving off a high pitched whine.
After alot of research I RMA it and ordered a Asus P8H67-M LX. Loaded it up and thought woohoo no whine, then as soon as windows finishes installing the drivers (first time on windows) of goes the whine again.
I RMA that 1 too and bought the MSI P67A-GD65 advertized as "whistle free" as well as people on another forum saying they didn't hear anything from theirs. This one does the same but I can't keep sending back boards for RMA and want to keep this one so I'm here hoping to try and resolve the issue with MSI.
I have tested these boards with Casecom 500w, ozc gamextream 700w, antec true power 650w and coolermaster pro m 600w with them behind a door to eliminate any fan noise.
MSI GPUS: 8800GS, 8800GTX and 560TI as well as onboard from the h67 board.
I've tried many differant BIOS settings, nothing but disabling C-STATE (fully disabled) effected it. (I havn't manually played with volts)
On the other 2 boards I noticed it seemed to dim when I unplugged all USB devices and in their BIOS it was c3/c6 I had to disable, MSI board doesn't whine as loud as the other 2 but it's more constant but with a morse code type theme to it which seems to be coming from CPU socket whenever the PC is idle, it's equally noisy from either side of the board. It's very annoying and accually gives me a headache as maxium distance.
Alot of people have said their 1155 board don't make a sound but 3/3 for me have so I'm not sure what to think.
I'm currently running with c-state disabled but Turbobooster only seems to go to 25% and slower clock speed on my i5-2500k and I assume for power usage, all things I don't want.
Can you give any information at all? Might it be possible to correct with a BIOS update? I'm open to any suggestions and will keep checking back here.
Hope you will be able to work with me on this issue.
Thank you in advance, I've prefered to go with MSI all my computering life.

Used the same CPU cooler on all three? That would be my wild guess.
I test it fanless of course  but no I have used mutiple heat sinks aswell.

What's wrong with throttling down at idle or low usage? Who sits at a stop light with the engine at full throttle?
I'm not too sure what disabling C-state accually does but when running Orthos I saw speed was at 3.6ghz instead of the 3.3 while disabled.

  • MSI P67A-GD65 keeps turing on and off...

I have had the follwing build since about march this year.
    8GB Mushkin Silverline #996770 (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz 9-9-9-24
    MSI P67A-GD65 Intel P67 (REV B3) Socket 1155 DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard
Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail
    XFX ATI Radeon HD5750
It was all working reasonably fine but I had notice it getting abit noisier so thought it was time for a bit of a clean to remove dust from fans, heatsinks etc. which it drastcially needed.
Anyhow, put it back together and now it turns on and off on start up at a period of about 5 seconds. (It has done this about 11 time before I unplugged it) Checked connections but everything SEEMS fine there. Unsure what it could be and could do to get it back up ASAP.
All was working fine prior and upto cleaning (which was today).
Also I currently have no computers to test bits on but I have done a Bare bones test with no look.
I am secrectly hoping one of  can tell me its the heastink as I do have another of those (in fact a better one which I should really put on) but I somehow doubt it would be the issue.
Anyhow I hope this is enough information but I will promptly reply as soon as I can if you need to know anything else.
    Thanks,

If it does not POST should it go I still get some output to the screen? I remember many years ago I could get to the BIOS but not boot with no RAM in. Should this happen with this board?  All I would like to do is eliminate as many components as possible.
I am not sure sucessfully POST ing is necessarily important in this instance as the issue is (to me)a little odd. Even if it does not POST should it stay on for more than a second and secondly if it does turn off should it stay off and turn on and off ad infinitum? Just to not I am not using the case power switch just in case this had for whatever reason got jammed (this has happened on a computer I had to fix once (I am not a professional but often get roped in to "can you just have a quick look at..."))
Once again a huge thanks for the continued support on this, I have had far more useful advice/questions asked so far from you than I have from MSI themselves and actually had responses unlike my retailer (I will have ot try call them tommorow).
