MSI P67A-GD65 - Problem

As my case was not so figured out what was the other topic to discussion, then decided to open this!
My problem as I see a few more users:
My bios is always telling me that the 20G is above setup of memories at all certain that, with this system in default as shown in the picture.
Besides the already reported the problem also I have already seen enough to not be able to save up to bios 1.4.
Already tried all versions of bios you have!
 Already tested with a dimm!
Already did clear cmos, well done!
Already reported here had opened http://support.msi.com/ without any success!
I wonder if has a solution to the problem??
Because I can still return the board to store and choose another!

Svet you are the flashing bios god
however
it all went swimingly well and I am now on ver. 1.7 but it locks when I go to save changes in the bios.  I think I have read about this somewhere so I am off to track down the thread now.
You need V1.8B10 about this one:

You probably have BIOS 1.4 then. I would recommend to use the forum USB Flasher utility which can be found in the 'Download Area' section of the forum. Instructions can also be found there on how to use it. Also would recommend to use the 1.7 just to avoid possible save issues that others have with 1.6. Either that or flash the 1.8b10.
1.8b10 can be found here, Jack's Reply #15; https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=144655.0

Looks like he's pointing to this capacitor or resistor, whichever it is.
If everything works OK I wouldn't worry about it. Test your LAN/internet on it good and if it's OK your lucky.
    Yes, this is the component!
To the Internet I am connected via USB Wifi.
When I disable LAN in BIOS, the circuit further powered by electricity? (For sure I would like it shut down)
It certainly belongs to network card?

  • Problem with downgrading bios. MSI P67A-GD65 (B3).

    Hi!
I'm having problems with downgrading my bios from version 4.3 to 1.19. I want to downgrade, because 4.3 doesn't want to boot when I use xmp settings for my RAM ( that might be related to my CPU since I have i5 2500k which is 32nm and 4.3 version of BIOS is recommended for 22nm processors ). When I try to flash with the MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing Tool I'm getting an error: "Rom file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID". I've ran out of ideas how to downgrade my bios so I'm asking you for help. My specs:
    MOBO: MSI P67A-GD65 (B3)
    CPU: INTEL CORE i5 2500K
    RAM: G.SKILL RIPJAWS X 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHZ CL6 (F3-12800CL6D-4GBXH)

    Here you go. GD65 and GD55 usde the same BIOS files;

  • HELP! My 2011 MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) build suddenly refuses to boot

Hello, I am new to this forum because I hadn't had any troubles yet.
I built my system in July/August 2011. Here's what it has:
    MSI P67A-GD65 (B3)
Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge CPU
    16GB Corsair Vengeance 240-pin DDR3 1600
    650w Corsair Enthusiast PSU
MSI N460GTX Cyclone 1GD5/OC GeForce Graphics Card
    1x 2TB Hitachi 7K3000 7200RPM SATA 6 GB/s (With Windows 7 64-bit installed)
    2x 3TB Seagate 7200RPM SATA 6 GB/s (For storage)
I have used this computer for graphics and video editing...it has served me faithfully. Yesterday evening while editing a Word document, I got "do you want to save your changes before exiting?" and of course I said yes. Then to my surprise my computer proceeded to shut down and reboot. At first I thought maybe I missed a Windows Update message telling me it would reboot in xxx minutes so I was not alarmed. But then as I watched it reboot, it gave me the POST message that there was no disc drive recognized. I thought that was weird since I never noticed it before. But then after the BIOS screen with the MSI graphics thing I was faced with a blank screen except for a flashing cursor two inches from the top of the screen. When I realized that this wasn't going to leave, I got a bit worried so I did a reset through my tower's button and same thing happened...I unplugged everything and let it sit for a few minutes... restarted 10 minutes later....same thing. Did it again and then went into my BIOS to look around. It showed no HDD's connected and I had 3 hooked up. I was concerned my HDD went bad so I connected it to another pc and accessed it with no trouble as another storage...I was happy my files are all there. So then I reconnected to my original build and got the same POST message, but this time the drives were visible in BIOS....but still no boot.
I have another blank SATA HDD so I removed all my HDD's and connected it by itself along with my SATA DVD drive and I tried to do a clean Win7 install on it. But at the point in the install process where it asks WHERE you want to install Windows, no drives showed up. So that door was closed. I tried the same thing again after swapping SATA port locations, thinking 1 was defective, but I got the same treatment from all of them...nothing recognized during the install process, although the drives are showing up in BIOS....
I think I know why the POST message is saying 'no drives detected,' though...I read it is saying that based on the SATA ports being used...I have 8 SATA's on my MOBO...4 6gb/s; 4 3gb/s. 7-8 are 6gb/s and ONLY when I have a HDD plugged into one of them does it show on the POST screen...which I still think is weird, and seems to have just started happening last night with the rest of the problems...but I could live with that since I could disable the message in BIOS I think.
But I have tried to clear the CMOS...all three ways...jumper, button, battery. I reset BIOS thru BIOS.... Nothing changes. BTW, in BIOS I ran a RAM memory check and it passed. Besides, I am not hearing any weird beeps...related to that....
I don't know why this would happen after working perfectly for 2 years... And why would it politely shut down in the beginning of the process anyways? I mean...I appreciated being asked to save my changes...but I don't know what else to do...PLEASE OFFER SUGGESTIONS...any help is appreciated.
Thank you in advance...I hope someone can help me! I am still covered by warranty...but I want to do this right.
    Thanks!
    Marie
EDIT: BTW, I have also tried unplugging everything from the pc except for the DVI and power plug in case that was interferring....

On a slightly different topic...would it work (I have never done this!) to take my OS HDD and boot it on another PC? I am thinking this would not work because of system files and etc., but I have always wondered this and now would be the best time for me to know
It mostly works if the components used aren't too special. As you have no RAID setup it should work. However you will need to reactivate Windows once it made it. Of course you will also need all drivers for the new machine. Be aware that you might not be able to connect to the internet before you installed the proper driver for the ethernet adapter.

  • MSI P67A-GD65 killed my USB drives

I recently bought MSI P67A-GD65 and I am having a weird problem: I plugged my seagate usb drive and corsair voyager gt usb flash memory stick into usb 3 port on the motherboard and the stopped working (memory stick is dead and smells burned) and the drive is not recognized as proper usb device anymore - result both of them dead. As I recently used these usb devices only with my computer and a old laptop it looks pretty bad for msi motherboard.
I have a power adapter with shortcut safety and a descent PSU chieftech GPS 650GB, I do not overclock, when I upgraded my PC I replaced motherboard, cpu, memory and graphic card the other components are the same (PSU etc) and I never had the same problem before
    No the questions:
    1. Did anyone else have the same problem?
    2. How can I diagnose it, I am going to replace my usb drives, but how can I be sure I can use them with my PC?
    3. If it is a msi's fault how can I get reimbursted for my damaged property?

Why don't you provide the information asked for? So far all you have provided is model of motherboard and other information is so vague it's just about useless.
Again read the >> Posting Guide << and provide required information.

Jack posted a pdf of the Dual BIOS. Here is the link, look for Reply #5 in this thread; https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=145084.0 If you have a failsafe in place to revert to a saved BIOS in the backup chip, I really recommend to give 1.8b6 a try. The forum USB flasher utility information & the 1.8b6 + ME can be found in brattak's OC & Mod Section thread. Svet has everything posted & linked in that thread also involving the beta & flashing it.
There is an update to the ME at the Intel Website. It is an Interface Host to Firmware update (Version 7.0.3.1184) & no flashing involved. It is worth a try.

  • MSI p67a-GD65 system randomly shutsdown

I'm completely heartbroken about my new build. Everything was running solid for about a month now and I have just started to experience random shutdowns. According to my BIOS, my 2600K is running at stock at around 55 C. I performed a stress test last night using prime95 and the system shut down as well, although speedfan and HWMonitor both only showed an increase from 40-50C to 60-70C. After it shuts down, the system is completely unresponsive and will not start back up until I unplug the system or turn off the power supply, after which it suddenly will start up again. In my opinion, that's an indicator of something as I thought it was completely dead.
I have NO idea what could possibly be causing this issue. It could be heat, it could be my power supply, it could be my motherboard. How do I narrow this down?
    Here's my build:
    G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
    ADATA S599 AS599S-64GM-C 2.5" 64GB
Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz

One video card should be at around 200W - 210 W, so 400W for video cards.
    Make that 250W per card + 100 W for the processor, about 50A @12V.
    Quote
    I do have a 750W power supply.
You mentioned other figures in your component overview:
    Quote

So, what kind of PSU do you have?
    Quote
system is completely unresponsive and will not start back up until I unplug the system or turn off the power supply, after which it suddenly will start up again.
Sounds like a PSU problem then.  Use a different one and/or test with one video card only.

  • MSI P67A-GD65 Turning on and off

    Hi ppl,
Well, the thing is like this, I bought a new gaming rig (specs after this chit chat XD) and everytime I start the system it goes on and off (just 1 Power Phase led on when this happens), even when I plug the power cable off the cpu the system will try to start again for the last time. The system turned on just 1 time and let me flashed the BIOS to v.1.7, after that I could start windows 7 without problems then rebooted to make sure everything was ok and everything went crazy again as stated before.
    My specs are:
Intel 2600K @stock setting (how couldnt be at stock settings if cant ( ) start my system)
    MSI P67A-GD65
Kingwin LZ 1000W (already tested on my cousin PC)
2x4Gb G-SKILL @ Stock Settings (already tried using a single module on all off the slots)
    CoolerMaster V6GT Cooler
    2x320GB Western Digital 6 Gb/s
CoolerMaster Cosmos S Case (already tried to turn the system on outside of the case)
Well this is it, hope I can get some help.
    Thanks.

I think you failed at disconnect the power while in loop.
Because of was the same as me, infinite loop like 4~5 times and after continued to install.
Here for an explanation look at page 4 > http://event.msi.com/mb/22nm/Bios_ME7_to%20_ME8_update_SOP_EN.pdf
If you didnt seen this part, failed and.... I dont know what can you do at this point.
in fact the problem was after this last update mentioned on page 4 of SOP guide that you linked and that i was read ... all ... but what is strange is that i have no display error during all update .. alla goes fine ...after last reboot  ... dead.

if you can help on it this, it would be alot appreciated.

What is the actual power supply?
    Follow this >>Posting Guide<<
Make sure you run latest BIOS.
PS: Intel ME driver is crucial, without it system won't work properly, and that's why it didn't freeze anymore. Same applies to GPUs: if you have 400W power supply and want to run 2-way SLI, it will be fine until you install drivers, which make the computer and graphic cards recognise how much power they have and so on

  • Boot Cooling Issue on MSI P67A-GD65

I luv my MSI P67A-GD65 with the 1.8b10 bios but this one has me baffled - first of all my system is controlled by a wall switch so at night I hit the switch and all power is off the system.  When I turn it on after work I hit the power button and when I go into bios the temps read 97c!.  After a restart the same thing and then on the third try temps are normal.
I have the CPU temp setting at 50c and am suspecting that the Corsair H50 pump does not have enough volts to turn over especially when it is cold.   I've been dealing with it but those high temps are kind of scary.
My Green Power CPU Power setting is APS.  Any Ideas??

Maybe the fact that by shutting off the power like like that you lose the standby power to the MB creating your problem. Do you have the same problem if you don't shut the wall switch off and just shut the PC down the normal way in Windows?
I always shut down windows first then hit the wall switch.  Tonight I'll leave the power on to the computer and will check it tomorrow after work.

  • Weird boot sequence - MSI P67A-GD65

    I have a prob with my board;
    1. I turn on the pc in a normal fashion
    2. The PC starts up (powers on), and I hear the fans and HDDs spinning
    3. The PC stays on power for a few seconds, then powers down.
    4. The PC restarts on its own and performs a normal boot into windows.
I can't find the solution for this weird problem. I have memory from the recommended list from the msi site, and updated my bios to the most recent version in an attempt to fix the problem. I have found a similar problem on another site, but this is a mb of a different brand, namely Asus. LINK -> http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=265454
The solution given there is a bios update (what I've already did) or change some bios settings, but asus uses different names for the settings, so I'm confused.
I have this problem in normal mode (load optimized defaults) and also in mild OC situations. I have the most recent bios from the MSI site.

Having exactly the same cold boot issue:
    1. I turn on the pc in a normal fashion
    2. The PC starts up (powers on), and I hear the fans and HDDs spinning
    3. The PC stays on power for a few seconds, then powers down (no any POST printout)
    4. The PC restarts on its own and performs a normal boot into windows.
    5. CPU is overclocked to 4.6GHz, 1.30V@BIOS (1.35V in CPUz under heavy load, max temps 64-65C). Rock stable, Prime95, Linx, IBT 2.51, etc for hours.
Also strange this is that is does not happen always, but maybe in 70-80% of cases. Haven't figured out what's the catch, but it does not happen when everything is on default/auto.

  • MSI P67A-GD65 hard drive light always lit

I built a new pc with this motherboard a few weeks ago and everything is great except for the hard drive light.  It stays dim 100% of the time and does show hard drive activity so i know it's working.  I switched the connector on the motherboard to see if it was a polarity issue, but then it doesn't work at all.  I even used a different LED that wasn't connected to my case and removed all the other connectors (power, reset, etc) and it still stayed dim.  Lastly, i removed all the SATA cables from the motherboard, all fan connectors with no luck.  I would appreciate any information on this, and if it's normal or if something is wrong and i should RMA the board.
PS - Bios version is 1.9.  I never updated it cause everything has been working as it should.

Quote from: NovJoe on 30-May-11, 15:38:56
You should try the board out of the chassis. You may also want to try it in barebone conditions.
I tried that yesterday.  Took it completely out of the case and left everything else off the board except for the ram and it still does it.  Also used a separate LED to test that wasn't part of the case.  In all the years i've worked on pc's, i've never seen this before.  I guess at this point i'll have to live with it or buy another one and send this one back for RMA.  I contacted MSI and they replied back with a suggestion to update the bios.  This is going nowhere.  While it probably won't actually hurt anything, i didn't spend $1500 on a new system to have problems with the motherboard.
Can someone help me test by using their MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) board?  Disconnect JUST your power light from the motherboard to make sure no other light is interfering with the hard drive light, and see if it's still dimly lit at around 25% to 30% regardless if you're in the bios, or in windows.
Any help would be greatly appreciated at this point.

Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz
    EVGA 012-P3-1570-AR GeForce GTX 570
    G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Thermaltake Black Widow W0319RU 850W ATX 12V  PSU
    Antec Lanboy air case
    2X Western Digital VelociRaptor WD1500HLFS 150GB in RAID0 running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
This was supposed to be my dream computer, but it has turned into a nightmare! It locks up constantly.  Usually the mouse pointer will disappear and the computer will just freeze up.  This normally seems to occur after the computer has been idle for a while.  I have read that there might be compatibility issues with the MSI P67A-GD65 and the GTX 570 video cards.  Can anyone confirm this?  Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?  The only thing event viewer is showing is the unexpected shutdown when I have to power cycle it.  Thanks in advance!

That can happen, & it can really mess things up if two kits are attempted to be run together. The platform is DDR3 1333 as to native support by the CPU IMC. If the system can't run on 1333 RAM speed at CR 1, 9 9 9 24 @ 1.50v's, then something is wrong. No system should ever have to use an OC (or X.M.P.) as a workaround to make it work. That's why I recommended the Crucial 1333. Plug one stick in the blue primary dimm slot to get everything loaded & checked out, & go from there.
Exactly which SATA ports are you using for the HDD's & RAID? White Marvell or Intel SATA III, or the black SATA II?
Unfortunately, my local shop didn't have the Crucial, so I grabbed the Corsair instead.  The Velociraptors are running from SATA 1 and 2 (the top white connectors).  I also have 2X HITACHI Deskstar 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s running in RAID0 from SATA 3 and 4 for storage (this computer is intended for HD video editing, compositing in After Effects, etc.).  Sorry I forgot to mention that in the original post!
