MSI P67A GD80 (B3) mic problem

gonna post machine first and then get to the point
Mobo: MSI P67A GD80 (B3)
RAM: Apacer 4GBx2 1333mhz
CPU: Intel Core I5 2500
GFX: 2x SLI MSI 560GTX Twin Frozr II OC edition
PSU: Cougar CM1000
Headset: Razer Piranha
Speakers: Logitech X530 5.1
Keyboard: Logtech G110
OS: Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate v.7200
Every time i try to use the rear port on my motherboard for my Mic the sound volume is VERY low. I've checked all my settings and mic volume is maxed out so i have to resort to use the mic port on my Logitech G110 keyboard which works fine so there's nothing wrong with the mic itself, I'am pretty sure this is Windows issue and yes i know this should probably be posted on some Microsoft forum but I've tried that to no avail just trying to get MSI's point of view of the issue I've uninstalled and re installed my sound card drivers and download the latest ones which came out this month which also don't help the problem. Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue?
 Any help would be appreciated

got a cheapo Logitech headset from work to test and it seems to work now so it seems that my old headset is the problem weird thing is that i still worked in keyboard but not my motherboard slot  its probably the wiring on my razer headset. Thanks for you help anyways jack

  • MSI 990FX GD80 CPU Voltage problem

Hello guys, I am new to overclocking and i think i have encountered a problem.
Whenever i try to increase my CPU voltage over 1.37 volts in B2 bios my PC freezes and cant boot up. The GPU fan ramps up for a moment and it sends a signal to the monitor but as soon as the monitor turns on there is no signal and it turns off. This keeps on going over and over until I clear CMOS.
    PC Specs.
    CPU: AMD Phenom II 945 95w x4 3.0ghz 945 (Deneb) (Waiting for FX8150..)
RAM: Corsair XMS DDRIII 1600Mhz downclocked to 800Mhz
MB: MSI 990FXA GD80 Military Class II AM3+
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5870 Sapphire CF
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5870 Asus CF
    PSU: Corsair AX850w
    Case: Corsair 650D
I don't know if its a problem with the motherboard or the CPU but the reason i post this in MSI forums is because once unboxing the motherboard I've noticed that there were some scratches on the CPU socket. I don't really remember what it was but i thought it nothing serious.
    Sorry for my bad english...

  • MSI Z68-GD80 (G3) Big Problems

So I have gotten my MSI Z68-GD80 (G3) Motherboard 1050 Watt powersupply from corsair 16GB of ram Corsair Vengence GTX 580 Twin Frozr II 2600K and a H80. At Stock Speeds My computer just frezzes in till i reset my computer or it automatically restarts and i have been losing Work Info because of this problem. In Prime 95 i ran it for a hour no Errors or anything. When i Enable OC genie Prime 95 Crashed in 30 minutes my computer freezes loud noise comes out of my headphones. Then i try pressing reset button no respond so i had to turn of my powersupply. btw my highest temp on the core was 55C. This usally happenes when i play games like: MW2,WAW,Crossfire,CSS,TF2,and so On. Btw im on the latest UEFI and drivers i believe since i used the LiveUpdate.
If i have to RMA this Board can I drop it off at MSI Viking Road Richmond I Live Near there.

Have you tried it without OC Genie ? What are the results ?  Which BIOS are you using ?
Only insert one memory module. Do a CMOS clear >>Clear CMOS Guide<<  Remove the battery for a while.
Ensure that EuP2013, Spread Spectrum and XMP are disabled.
Retest with only one memory module.

  • MSI P67A-GD80 Motherboard (Split)

First of all thanks very much for the interesting reading of your posting.
    last thurday I purchased the p67a gb80 b3.
I'm using Bios 10.1 the latest, but I have the same problem not able to boot
my Corsair cmt4gx3m2a2133c9 at 2133mhz with two sticks.
my pc complete freezes and I need to clear the bios.
Boots on 1 stick 2133mhz okay.
for the time being my rams arew running at 1866mhz 1.66 volts.
    rgds.

marty52, this topic was split from the review. Please start your own topic when needing assistance and don't hijack a review for that.
The IMC natively supports 1333, anything above is overclocking and there is no guarantee that it will work. The gain from 1866 to 2133 is marginal at best when it does succeed and your own test with one memory stick having succeeded is probably an indication thet the Integrated memory controller is unable to handle more than 2GB RAM at those speeds. • MSI GT60 Destroyer 424 Mic Problems

    Hello everyone,
I picked up a MSI GT60 online from Best Buy a couple of weeks ago. I have been searching the forums, reddit, etc. for posts about the internal mic having issues with buzzing all time.
I would really like to find a way to fix this, because using the built in microphone would make the most sense. Otherwise, I figured (from what I read) that I would have to purchase a USB headset.
Does anyone have any workarounds or tips on how to improve the quality of the built in microphone or reduce the static/buzz noises?
    Thanks for your time.

First thing I'd try is the EC reset procedure.
    1. Turn off computer
    2. remove AC adapter
    3. remove battery
    4. leave laptop alone for 10 minutes
    5. install battery
    6. install AC
    7. Turn on computer and see if it's fixed
This isn't guaranteed to fix it, but it's a start.
By the sound of it though, there might be more issues than just a simple EC reset.
If the EC reset doesn't fix it, then I would contact MSI and possibly consider an RMA.

  • MSI P67A-C43 (B3) - Microphone problem

Hello, I've recently bought this motherboard. Everything is fine, except microphone. I'd tried two of them, but neither of them worked :-/ I'm sure, that both of them are OK, cause they are working on other PCs. Problem is that both inputs (front and rear) are too silent. I get some sound only when I have +30dB boost on and sound on maximum. Still this setting won't allow me to use mic, because it is still to silent. I read some other topics on the internet and I think, that problem might be with combination of Realtek soundcard and Windows 7 (others solved this problem with instaling XP :-/). Can anybody help me?
I want also to apologize myself, I'm not native English speaker.

Nobody? Our family used to be talking with others through Skype and this problem is really pain in the *** :-/ I dont want to get rid of another money just for kinda "useless" better soundcard...
Edit: I've tried to record played song (connected green port to pink one) and everything seems OK. I don't know what to do, cause microphone itself works (tried it on other computer), but on this motherboard it is not working.

  • MSI Z68A-GD80 B3 bios problem :(

Hi... I've got a very strange problem with my motherboard. The bios diode is blinking (I know that it means my first bios has failed). But I tried fixing method from topic with GD65 and it didn't work. Any ideas?

Remove the PSU power cord, remove the battery for awhile, clear CMOS, reset making sure to enable BIOS update again, save & exit, & then see if the chip LED stops flashing.

  • MSI P67A-G45 B3 Bios problems

    Hi!
okey, i think i have up badly. I had problems whit some dots om my right screen and someone told me that a bios uppdate could solve it, so yes i treid, whit help, and i got the update, it works great, but the problem is, he who helpt me (who works whit fixing computers and know a lot more then me) didn't know what ME8 and ME7 stands for, so we installed the latest bios that natrualy is a ME8 version, but my CPU is way to old and when i try to start windows i get the lovely blue screen, so no way for me to get in to windows.
so, i try to download a older bios version on the other pc, put it on a USB key and use the m-flash built in to the bios, then i get a new problem, it wont find the file.
it's flat 32, i put the file in the root but still nothing. i even took out all HDD's and disc drives.
so i kinda wounder, is there any other way then buy a new CPU or motherboard to solve this?
sorry for my bad english btw

    i must say i don´t know, i don't even know what any ot i means :(
but i think the problem is that the bios is for ivy bridge CPU (ME8) and mine is not
but my windows was installed from a clean SSD drive, no upgraded version or anything like that.  and it's windows 7 home premium.
but as it is now, i can even get in to windows, blue screen is all i get
    Don't worry about bios version.
Plug in your PC and Enter the bios (F2 or SUPPR key) and set parameter "Integrated peripherals" in AHCI.
    Save and reboot.
Try this and tell us the result.

  • MSI P67A-GD80 (B3) Not Reading 12volts on the 8 pin

Please help. This is my second gd80 mobo that is not reading 12volts on the 8 pin connector on the mobo. I already replace the motherboard once and upgraded my powersupply to a Corsair 850w. In Hw monitor it is only reading 8.96volts and Speedfan is reading 10.26volts "Clean install on both the programs". I checked the 8 pin power connector with a volt meter and I am getting over 12volts. Any sugestions or another program to check the power? Thanks!!!

On mine it reads +8.18V instead of +12V, only way to be sure is with a volt meter. PC would not do anything if voltage was really that low. I haven't had any of those software programs show anywhere near correct +12V on any of the 5 Intel chipset MB's I've had beginning with a P35 Neo-F several years ago.

  • Msi p67A gd80 - Intel processor diagnostic tool test.

Just ran the Intel processor diagnostic tool test, when I leave all settings to default i get test FAIL.
If I swith off the "Base Clock Test"I´m able to complete the test.
    Is this normal?
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=19792

Yes, ran the first test at 4400 mhz and mem 1866mhz.
changed these to default setting 3400 mhz and 1333 mhz, but if I leave the Base Clock test on, i get
    the following.:
    ==================================================
--- FSB NOT Supported on this Processor ---
--- Running Base Clock test ---
    Detected Base Clock --> 99
    !!! ---  Base Clock test  Fail --- !!!
    ==================================================
Eventhough the Base clock in the bios is set at 100, I just see Intel Detected 99?
should if increase the base clock slightly in the bios and if so to which setting 101?
    tks.

  • [P67A-GD80] Optimizing with i7 2600K

    Hi,
Last friday I got the following to replacing my old C2D 3Ghz (running at 3.6Ghz) on a Asus P5QL Pro with Corsair Dominator 4x2GB DDR2:
    MSI P67A-GD80
    Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 C8 2x4GB
    Intel i7 2600K
    Scythe Mugen 2
The rest of my current system:
    Asus HD6950 2GB DirectCU II
    Intel 80GB SSD X25-M
    2 x 1,5TB Seagate 7200RPM
    1 x ancient 500GB for Temp Storage
Some DVD burner - Its a black one
Antec P183 with Antec CP-850 PSU
Obviously the CPU is much faster than my old C2D, but generally speaking I think the system is too slow.
When I run Passmark performance tests, ASS Crystal Disk SSD Benchmark and SiSoft 2010, all scores are lower than I would expect and compared to online results always one of the lowest.
    For instance, in CPU Mark a Core i7 980 @ 3.7Ghz scores 44% higher than me, a Core i7 920 @ 3.4Ghz is only 15% lower than me.
In Memory Mark, the 920 scores 52% higher, the 980 10%.
The SSD scores slightly lower in this system than it did on my old board, but only marginal.
Copying large folders between disks feels slower than it did before, while copying a single large file is definitely faster - nearly 100MB/s. Harddisk benchmarks show good results.
I've cleared the CMOS of this system, I left everything default except AHCI and boot order. I've completely wiped the SSD and reinstalled Windows 7 x64 (same as on the C2D).
The system is stable, I've ran several passes of Memtest86+ 4.2 and I've ran Prime95 x64 for a few hours. Temperatures stay at or below 65 degrees with all fans <1000RPM.
I can see no obvious flaws in BIOS settings. I've installed all the latest drivers, INF updates, Intel Storage Matrix etc. According to CPUID and CoreTemp the system is running at 100x34 and memory is at 665. The memory timings are slightly lower than what SPD is showing for 665Mhz, but that wouldn't make a noticable difference, if it makes a difference at all.
Overall I'm happy with the system, I value stability over speed any day and overclocking is not my game anyways. Once a system is stable and running flawless in every respect, I may overclock some but under no circumstance should it cause crashes, weird behaviour etc. My old system had a 20% overclock and it ran flawless - except that is was just too slow and CPU was becoming a noticable bottleneck.
Is there anything I can do/check, any tips to see if I'm missing anything?
    Thanks in advance!

Only Comodo Antivirus, which I've been using for a long time and never had an issue with. I will try disabling it though, it's easy to take things for granted that you have been using for a long time, it's best to rule it out at this point.
Last night I was copying a 22GB folder from one drive to another, the only process taking resources was system but my pc became unusable. When I tried to start even a simple program it took nearly 30 seconds for the window to appear. Clicking the menu took another 10 seconds to respond.
In the mean time the copy job dropped to ~30MB/s and I noticed disk queue length to rise above 10, but only on the drive being copied to. The disk I was reading from remained responsive with a disk queue length <0.
Another thing I noticed with Passmark is the Small Block Allocation test was extremely slow compared to other similar systems. The rest of the memory tests are slower too but not as extreme as that test. I've found some similar issues but never with a solution. I was able to get it a bit better by setting the memory timings from default (auto) to the manufacturers' specified settings and I set the command rate from T2 to T1. A quick test didn't show any problems but I have yet to do a few hour test to make sure its stable.
Anyways, I'll let you know if the disabling of Comodo solves anything. In the meantime, if anyone has any bright ideas I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks.

  • Dual BIOS LED disco, P67A-GD80 (B3)

I've just set up a new system, exercising extreme caution, reading manuals, checking forums, and taking all measures not to mess things up.
When I finally buckled up and hit the start button, things seemed fine, the fans were running and I was greeted by the BIOS setup interface. A couple of minutes after browsing the menues, checking temperature and stuff, but without actually making any changes, screen froze and the system ceased to respond to mouse or keyboard input, even ignoring my desperate efforts to restart or turn off the machine using the front panel buttons.
After turning off, using the PSU-switch, I found that at least it did NOT smell burnt, so I gave it another try. This time the fans started again and the GPU-fan sounded considerably louder than before, actually noisier than the average vacuum cleaner, but nothing showed up on screen at all. Just darkness and the terrible howling from the GPU. Again, the front panel switches wouldn't kill it, so I started to think about what could have gone wrong. After thinking for a minute or two the system just died by itself.
I couldn't restart it immediately, but after a few minutes I could turn it on. Still nothing on the screen though.
I've reassembled the machine, checking cables and stuff, trying different RAM setups, cleared CMOS, removed and reinserted CMOS battery, but still just get one beep and eternal darkness on the screen. The motherboard buttons for on/off and reset won't turn off/restart the system. I notice two solid lights on the CPU Phase LEDs, telling me that "CPU is in 2 phase power mood", but I really don't know what that means.
Also, the Dual BIOS LED goes disco on startup, altering between fast blinking and slow (1 sec) blinking to finally end up with a solid light, telling me the primary and secondary BIOS failed.
Have also tried to start the motherboard with everything disconnected except PSU and a RAM-card, even without GPU, just to see if the moderboard's on/off and reset buttons responds after being turned on, but everything except the fans and leds seem dead.
Anyone got any idea of what's causing these problems, or what I should do to get wiser or even make things work?
Is the CPU just dead? Motherboard short circuit? Some kind of BIOS-black out?
Is the non-responsive (well, it responds to on, but not off) on/off and reset buttons on the motherboard a sign of something?
This is my brand new, not-working-at-all system:
    Corsair Graphite 600T Midi Tower
    Corsair TX V2 850W PSU
    MSI P67A-GD80 B3, Socket-1155
    Intel® Core™ i7-2600K
    Antec Kuhler H2O 920
    Kingston DDR3 HyperX 1600MHz 16GB
    Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 2GB GDDR5 (x2, have tried with just 1)
    Corsair SSD Force Series™ 3, 240GB
    Sony Optiarc DVD±RW Writer, AD-5280S

Yeah, I tried that, but I'm not 100% sure I properly cleared CMOS. Did change the pin from save to clear data and removed battery, but the battery might have been removed too short time (20 sec). Also, the power cable to the mother board was still connected (the PSU was shitched off though) which I later read it shouldn't be while clearing CMOS.
Still, the Dual BIOS LED goes solid, so I guess the mother board is bricked.
I'm really not sure what to do now. Let's say I buy a new mother board and it works outside the chassi, it could mean that the old mother board was defect from start, or
it can mean that the chassi is defect. To be sure I have to try the new mother board in the chassi, and possibly destroy it. Feels like this trial and error method is going to cost me a few mother boards.
I do hear the single beep when I start the computer, so it POSTs I guess. Does that mean the CPU is NOT broken? I've heard that the CPU is needed for the POST.

  • P67A-GD80 (B3) compatible RAM PSU

I'm currently working on a build of a multi-monitor trading workstation based upon a Sapphire Model 100290SR Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Eyefinity 6 Edition Video Card installed on an MSI P67 mainboard with an Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4 GHz, 8MB Cache, LGA1155, 95W Sandy Bridge Processor. I already have the CPU, GPU, and other components. At this point I'm trying to confirm the proposed choice of the mainboard: P67A-GD80 (B3) versus the P67A-GD65 (B3) or Z68-GD80 (B3); Crucial DDR3 RAM, and Thermaltake W0132RU 1000W PSU. Some of the concerns I have for the current specifications are:
RAM. Other threads in the forum have emphasized the preference for 1333 RAM versus the 1600 RAM (G.Skill Ripjaws 1600, Corsair Vengeance) being pushed by many retailers for their OC capability. Since I am not interested in overclocking and want rock solid stability and reliability, I first looked at the recommendations from Crucial for their 1333 modules. Does anyone have any experience with the Crucial memory modules in the below specification? Is there any reason to suspect the proposed Crucial module and its timings are not suitable for the proposed build based upon your experience?
PSU. The AMD/ATI Eyefinity 6 Edition graphics controller requires a system power supply of at least 600W for one card, and it requires a minimum of 900W to support two such cards. Calculations appear to indicate at least 514W are needed for the minimum configuration of one card and as much as 845W when the ports and devices are fully utilized. So, I'm thinking this build will need at least a 900W PSU, and the Thermaltake W0132RU 1000W supply appears to be the one PSU they offer with the capacity and connectors that are needed. Does anyone have experience with the Thermaltake W0132RU and/or its reliability with this and/or other MSI P67 mainboards and/or Eyefinity 6 Edition graphics cards?
MAINBOARD. Does the P67A-GD80 (B3) or do the other P67 Express or Z68 Express mainboards offer better support for this graphics card?

    Corsair AX1200.
    Don't exclude the Z68A-GD65.
Given the choice, I would pick the Z68 GD80 over the P67 model anyday. Also, rumor is it may support the future Ivy Bridge CPU's. Z68's provide the best of both worlds, P/H series. Between the GD65 & the GD80? GD80 provides for an extra 4 PCI-E lanes thru the Z68 chipset. Suggest in advance to download the pdf manuals for both GD65 & GD80 & study them. With three devices installed in all of the PCI-E 16X slots in the GD80, because of the PCI-E limitations with the Sandy Bridge platform, you will lose PCI slot function & some USB ports, etc. Here again, the GD65 has only two PCI-E 16X slots & only 16 PCI-E lanes. IMO, this PCI-E lane limitation is a major drawback. The X58 MSI mainboards have a clear advantage in that regard having 36 PCI-E lanes.
The Z68 Express mainboards were a concern because of their unknown compatibilty with the already exotic AMD/ATI HD Radeon 5870 Eyefinity 6 edition drivers for six DisplayPort monitors. I was hoping someone in this forum might have already have some experience with the Eyefinity 6 edition on one of these mainboards and shed some light on the compatibility concerns. The P67 Express mainboards seemed like an opportunity to dodge any inforseen compatibility issues arising from the hybrid video architecture of the video enabled Sandy Bridge processors and the Z68 designs. I wonder.
The PCI-E x 16 lane restriction is another concern. Although using two Eyefinity 6 Edition cards is not planned, it would be a plus to know the capability was in reserve. Unfortunately, the P67A-GD80 (B3) appears to support only one PCI-express x 16 lane at a time. The PG7A-GD65 (B3) specifications don't seem to mention whether it does or does not support two PCI-Express x 16 lane cards at the same time. Does it or not? The Big Bang Marshall appears to support two 16 lane cards at the same time, but only by disabling all of the other PCI slots. The P67A-GD80 (B3) offers more USB 3.0 ports, but you have to make sure the PCI-E does not disable some of them.
