MSI P7N2 Diamond with 9450... Questions!

I passed from an EVGA 790i Ultra to a MSI P7N2 Diamond (Same Chipset but the MSI is far more stable).
I would like to set my Q9450 to 3.2GHz. I was at 3.2 on my Evga.
I was wondering if one of you has some bios settings for this frequency on the P7N2? (core voltable, MCP voltage, etc)

No, Those values where when I was on a EVGA 790i Ultra... And the 1.3625V was because the system was lowering the Voltage on the cores... What i mean is that when you were setting for example 1.3V, the system was set at a lower voltage and when the system was not idle anymore, the cores couldn't reach the voltage they needed (the voltage set and the maximum voltage possible where not the same).
I am currently on overclocking my MSI board... I just got the ram stable at 1600 and atacking on the CPU...
What i wanted by setting this post is to know what range of voltages and frequencies people who had the same setup were having... to compare when done...
I know the voltage drops, vdroop, but 1.3625 is mental all the same. Mine's at about 1.32 for 3.4Ghz, and I can run it at much lower voltages for 3.2
What voltages/settings have you tried with the MSI board? And my board runs fine at 400fsb, if you want to see if there's an fsb hole just drop down to 395 (1580qdr) or something.

If it really was 2.64V on the +12V rail, your MOBO wouldn't even post.  That reading is a wrong reading.  What are you using to check the voltages?  What is shown in the BIOS?
i really had serious problems .Two A..S Striker 2 Extreme down ,2 MSI P7N2 diamond mobo down {[3 x ( start,5sec -> freze)] and no post anymore} And suddenly the third  P7N2 Diamond  working.
Nothing changed. How to explain this?

  • Can I use 4GB RAM on my MSI K8N Diamond with Windows 7?

Can I use 4GB RAM on my MSI K8N Diamond with Windows 7? I have put 4GB DDR 1 in my motherboard but windows 7 says (2.75GB usable)...
    Regards, Jay

It depends highly on how much hardware (add-in cards) you have installed. If you have two VGA-cards, then it's likely that usable memory stays below 3GB. If you take some hardware out, you will see the usable memory increase a bit, but you won't reach the full 4GB. It will go as far as about 3.25 or so.

  • MSI P7N2 Diamond won't boot

    hi,
My P7N2 Diamond won't boot. when i first tested it at my friend's house, the problem already occurred. but i was not sure if it was complete bricked because the processor we used was listed supported only under the new bios.
so i brought it home and tried it with an older  processor, the E6300 . still no luck.
one thing i noticed, every time i power up the board, the hdd_led, power_led, and standy_led are turned on all together. BUT, i have no HDD attached....
what could possibly wrong with my motherboard? btw, the memory i used is a Kingston DDR3 kvr133303n9/2g
    any advice/help will do. thanks

Yes it's barebone setup. just proc , mem, vid card, psu, ps2 keyboard.
out of the pc case too?

Yes it worked before but i am unsure what setup was before. a friend gave this to me. just upgraded to i5 so he gave it to me.
worked before with what parts? what is changed?

  • MSI P7N2 diamond M/B stuck on the m/b flash screen on start up.

Hi, my problem is that my motherboard (p7n2 diamond) is staying on the screen that is supposed to come up for about 3 seconds on start up, it wont let me get into the bios or anything, because my keyboards aren't working with it for some reason. Ive tried both usb and ps2 keyboards, neither work. I am pretty sure that i have connected all the internal cables correctly. If anyone could give me any suggestions to why its not working, or even how to fix it, would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • MSI P6N Diamond with E8400 EIST

Running the p6n diamond with the E8400 and I can not seem to get the EIST to work.  I try to enable it in the bios, but once I exit it goes back to disabled.  Even with the F4 in the bios, I do not see any options for the C1 feature.  Currently I have my CPU OCed to 3.6GHz, but that is recent and I could never get the EIST to work even at stock speeds.
    Bios version 1.3 btw
    System
    Vista 64 bit Ultimate
    P6N Diamond
    E8400
    2x2GB OCZ SLI ram 6400

but just not EIST staying enabled.
That means, if you re-enter the BIOS Setup after you have saved & exited it, your changes are lost?  All of them or just "Intel EIST" in the Cell Menu?
    Quote
because the OCing voltage/FSB is changing
Can you be more specific about what values are actually changing and under which condiditions?  Try to give a more detailed explanation of what is actually going on there.

I could not find C1E support anywhere before even with F4 in the bios, is it suppose to be there?
It should be under "CPU Features".  Press F4 multiple times while you are in that BIOS Section.

People have said there is suppose to be an "EIST" option in there, but I have never seen it.
There is no "EIST" option in there.

  • Msi k2n9 diamond raid problems/questions

Hi, yesterday I bought 2 hard drives western digital 1 TB  Caviar Blue 32mb cache each and wanted to make a raid stripe array, so they work as one and are twice as fast.
I had problems installing windows XP, so I tried windows 7. It detected the raid array, partitioned it, and installed the windows, but in the device manager I got other devices -> RAID Controller and no drivers for it. I also have a Coprocessor, but that may be the chipset drivers, that I didn't install yet.
The windows 7 is currently installed on the array, but I can't really see the performance difference. All disk information tools say it's currently 32 cache, shouldn't it be 64? And the speed is the same ~ 40-60 mb/s copy rate, 100mb/s sata-sata transfer rate.
With windows XP I tried installing the extra drivers from the web site from a floppy drive during installation, but the installation didn't detect the array at all.
Can somebody give me a clue how to fix my problem? And if you have any idea what software can I use to check the raid transfer rate and proper performance?

Hello! It is a bit "dangerous" to help someone without knowing what the system looks like. What little you said, K2N9 motherboard, doesn't exist. Have a look here http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=prodarchive&maincat_no=1 Go to the title "AM2", because a fair guess lands you there. In order to help with your driver questions we need to know what the drivers are for, you see. An alternative would be to go to Nvidia's site, where you can pick most things you need: www.nvidia.com.
Coprocessor? Might it be - if you in fact have a processor - there are more than one core?
The cache thing is a little new to me, but one must remember you have one disk now, not two. Partitioning deals with the first bytes of data on this single hard disk, and not with the "RAM" memory.
Noticing a difference can be hard, but if you were to return to no-RAID status you will, for a little while, hate the longer boot-up time and slower start of programs. Since it runs at all, 100 mb/s read time is not out of order.
well i misplaced the numbers, it's k9n2, it's not that big mistake, and I know my system well. I have two disks, but one array, and i think the cache must be 2x, because the idea of raid 0, simultaneously writing bits on both disks. The logical idea is that if you write something to e drive with 32 mb cache you will be able to write the same thing on two drives with 32 mb cache each which makes it 64 mb
The coprocessor part is solved, after I installed the chipset drivers, but the raid thing is still there.

That is not correct.  The Default Jumper Setting is called "Default".

1-  200 to 333 mhz  the two at the back
2-   333 to 400 mhz   the two in the front
3-   and 400 ..........up .(no jumper at all)
Nope, there are more than that:

Leave it on the default setting. The BIOS should automatically set the FSB Clock Speed to 400 MHz.  If it does not do that, you can still remove the jumpers.

  • P6n Diamond with q6600 question

I currently own an Asus Striker extreme and it sucks at overclocking Quad cores to put it nicely. I was looking at the P6n Diamond board and was wondering what kind of Overclocking to expect on it for a quad core.

Thanks for the reply. Appears it is plagued with the same issue as my current board after reading that. The only ones i've see that fixed the problem are EVGA and XFX but thier board layout doesn't work for me.
