Hi,
yes i do get the green message about the dvd in green color after the memory check(MSI logo)
somthing like ODD0 DVD RW
I will try the second option you recommended, thx alot.
Hello, welcome to forum. if you are planing to update BIOS:
get P965 Neo BIOS ver. 1.6 CD Image (have modded boot record and integrate JMB361 Dos drivers.)
How do i flash it?
Extract image file from archive, and burn it to CD.(example: open it with nero burning rom and burn image file to CD)
Make and ensure PC is stable, then reboot PC and boot from CD. you will need to confirm twice BIOS update when asked.
after BIOS update is complete successfully, power down your PC, remove power cord from the PSU, hit few time power button to drain electrify from capacitors, touch some metal with hands to discharge any ES which you may have, then open the case and Clear CMOS then pull back power cord, and turn on your PC, will be notice CMOS CHEKSUM MISMATCH/ERROR, hit F1 to continue to rebuild DMI Pool Data, then reboot your PC, and enter in BIOS and LOAD BIOS DEFAULT, SAVE AND EXIT, go back to BIOS and apply your customs settings.
if you want to use USB key to flash BIOS, copy AWFL865.EXE & W7235IMS.160 to USB drive, reboot PC and boot from bootable location, (hold "SHIFT" key when starting loading from bootable device to bypass startup files to avoid loading memory managers and other applications) navigate to folder which containt flash program and BIOS file and type from there:
AWFL865.EXE W7235IMS.160 /cks/sn/py/cc/cd/cp/wb/ld/qi/f/e

  • MSI p965 Neo-F Bios Fsb Problem

    hello,
i am facing a problem with increasing the fsb beyond 166[as this is the maximum restricted fsb] with my pentium d 805 cpu, on this motherboard, whereas i have read in this thread that some users are able to reach an fsb of 312mhz easily. Is this a restriction in the bios or some other problem and can the 1.6a bios solve this problem, or is their any other mod bios with which i can select an fsb beyond 166 Mhz.
if anyone can helpme with this problem please reply as soon as possible.

  • BIOS doesnt recognize SATA connected Hard Drive- need help flashing bios from bootable USB

    hi
I have an envy laptop running InsydeH20 bios rev f14.
the bios doesn't recognize the internally connected hdd/ssd.
I have heard that with insyde bios', sometimes you have to unlock 'secret capabilities' to recognize hardware incl internal hdd.
but I am just trying to reflash my bios.
the problem is that I cant get into windows because it doesn't recognize my hard drive and windows doesn't allow insallation to usb connected drives.
I downloaded the patch from hp.com for my product and it actually has an option for making a bootable USB for use on the actual system, and I did this. the instructions are to just restart my computer with the bootable usb. I have tried Legacy support on and off, neither updates bios.
I highly doubt it has anything to do with the physical sata connector.
basically I need to flash my bios from bootable usb. I have done some research about making a bootable dos usb etc etc but I don't know what program to even run and how..
this is a link to my product:

cannot run on my laptop. tried booting from the media. tried allowing 'legacy' compatibility.

  • MSI P965 Neo - Bios?

Anyone got a bios for MS-7235 that has fixed the bugs?

Quote from: wconstantine on 22-January-07, 03:36:12
    I'm running bios version 1.6.62 with the motherboard MS-7235 aka. MSI P965 Neo. E6600 @ 2,7 GHz (300x9) FSB:DRAM 1:1.
Corsair Value S. PC5300 DDR2 2048MB Kit w/two matched Value Select 1024MB running at 600 Mhz. Dual Channel.
    450W PSU.
    3V 3,31V
    +5 5,33V
    +12 11,96V
Vcore is at 1.325V by default.
    vdimm at 1.9V
Stock cooler idle 39 degrees and 59 at load with orthos prime95 for dual core.
That should be enough of system information?
The bug I have! If I take my FSB to 301 it just dies. I have to reset bios in order to make the computer work again. 300+ and it's gone. I've tried BIOS and Windows clocking. The only difference is that in Windows I don't have to reset bios
I've disabled Speedstep, C1E, Spread Spectrum, HPET and I'm running my memories at "auto" timers. I've tried with manual there but same problem. The memories run at 4-4-4-12 533mhz in bios but in Windows it shows 1:1. So 600Mhz.
This is not a bug....it's normal, Intel are not like AMD that have divider in CPU....the low value for ram it's 533, that it mean at default memory go at 266 like FSB at 266. RAM:FSB = 1:1.  RAM 667 are RAM:FSB = 5:4 . RAM 800 are RAM:FSB = 3:2 .
Probably you have not understand this and like functions intel system and you think is a bug! :P

I recently upgraded to win 7 64bit home premium and installed 4gb of ram 2x2g corsair xms ddr2 along with the 2x512mb of corsair xms2 ddr2 memory that was already in the pc. My problem started that the bios doesnt recognize all 5gb it on shows 3.25gb. I've tried a few different approaches to the situation nothing has worked. this is how i have the memory seated in the dimm slots cpu> 2gb|512mb|2gb|512mb. I tried to clear cmos still nothing, unchecked the max memory setting in system config. I've tried just using the 4gb and still reads 3.25. So i downloaded the most recent BIOS update tried to update and i get the error saying its not compatible with the version in windows i'm using....Im at a loss and do not know what else to do..any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • MSI P965 Neo-F (MS-7235) problem booting from USB flash drive

    Hi, all!
I was wondering if someone can help me. I am trying to install Windows 7 x64 on my 320GB HDD that is connected to my MSI P965 Neo-F (MS-7235) mobo (The CPU is a Core2Duo 6600 with 6GB of RAM). I created a bootable USB 8GB flash drive using Microsoft's "Windows 7 DVD USB Download Tool" and bootsect.exe (Needed to create a boot sector on the USB drive) from the MS store. I successfully tested the resulting bootable USB drive using freeware MobaLiveCD (Sorry, you'll have to Google "mobalivecd" since this forum doesn't seem to allow external links) running under Windows XP SP3 x86 (32bit). Under MobaLive's QEMU, Windows 7 setup loaded its files and produced an error message basically saying that it could not install Windows 7 x64 under an x86 OS (No surprise there since QEMU is emulating a 32bit processor - The point is that the bootable USB drive I created works).
I then went into my mobo's CMOS and under Advanced BIOS Features -> Boot Sequence -> 1st Boot Device, set the value to "USB-HDD" and rebooted my machine. The USB drive probably was not detected by the mobo under that setting because it proceeded to boot from my HDD which is the 2nd Boot Device. I repeated the same process using each one of the  four USB ports in the rear of the mobo (I don't have the optional USB panel that the MSI users manual mentions) to no avail. I also tried setting the 1st Boot Device to "USB-FDD" and repeated the process for each USB port but the mobo still will not boot from the USB drive (It does not recognize it). When I set the 1st Boot Device to "USB-ZIP" and rebooted, the mobo hangs after "Verifying DMI Pool Data ..." which is no surprise since I am not using a USB ZIP drive but a USB flash drive. It appears that under that setting, it recognizes that there is a USB device attached but it is expecting a response (From a USB ZIP drive). I had no idea it would be this frustrating to boot from a USB flash drive! If anyone knows how to make this mobo boot from a USB flash drive, please let me know. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The P965 Neo motherboard is 8 years old, so don't expect miracles. .... You need to format the USB stick in the proper way. You may use this utility to do it: hxxp://www.prime-expert.com/flashboot/ Also, it's a good idea to use the first (USB0) connector (controlled by Intel ICH8) for the USB flash drive. Good luck.
Thank You for your fast response, RemusM!
I'm not looking for a miracle. I'm just looking for a mobo that does what it is supposed to do: Allow me to boot from a USB flash drive (I don't think that is too much to ask for even from a board that was made in 2006)!
Thanks for recommending FlashBoot. I see under their "Why FlashBoot" section that it "... does not shift to user the burden of choice between "USB-ZIP" and "USB-HDD" at format time and proper BIOS setup at boot time. ... and every USB disk is formatted in such way that it will work in every environment properly, regardless of current BIOS setting.", so I will give it a try and let you know about the results afterwards.

  • MSI P965 Neo-F

Hi 2 everyone! I just bought a MSI P965 Neo-F mobo. I intend to combine it w/E6400, an Albatron 7600GT and PC-6400 memory. I have read several posts in this forum but i still have queries about memory compatibility:
1)What is the highest memory voltage this mobo can supply?
2)Will it work with any of the following memory modules:
    a)OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Gold GX XTC Dual Channel (2x512MB) link:http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_6400_gold_gx_xtc_dual_channel

    c) GEIL DIMM 1GB DDR2-800 KIT CL4

If not w/any of them what would u suggest?
    Thank u in advance!

Weird thing with the 1.5 BIOS, really: No matter what the speeds are set to, the last memory timing (forgot its name) is always set like this:
BIOS setting (by me) - actual setting (in Windows read out by software)
    4-4-4-12 - 4-4-4-20
    5-5-5-15 - 5-5-5-23
    4-4-4-4  - 4-4-4-12
    etc...
What is going on here? I set the memory to 4-4-4-4 now @ 375MHz (750), because those are its rated specs. And it runs in Windows as 4-4-4-12 @ 750MHz.
The system now runs @ these speeds:
    E6300 @ 300MHz (2.1GHz)
    FSB @ 301MHz
    RAM divider: 667MHz
    Effective RAM Speed: 750MHz
    Tmings: 4-4-4-12
Really, what a weird problem. But since there are no other problems with 1.5 (that I came across so far), I'll keep it. My sister is loving her new PC, and if the mobo doesnt brake within the next 5 years, everything is perfect.

  • MSI P965 Neo PCI-e lock?

    Hi!
could any of you tell me whether or not the MSI P965 Neo-F board has an option to lock the PCI-e clock?
My plan is to tweak the FSB to 333 (which implicates a 333/266 = 25% overclock), which I've read is more then easy to obtain with a Core 2 Duo 6300. I just don't wanna ruin the rest of the system by getting a PCI-e busspeed of 125.
So I'm really curious if this board has either a build-in lock @ 100/101, or some option in the BIOS to lock the bus.
    Thanks!

well you could just try raising your fsb to 333Mhz and see what happens. done it with mine no problems at all no other tweeking either. lots n lots of people have done the same without a problem.
check out the overclocking and modding forum here, n see for yourself.

  • BUG with Memory CAS-Latency with MSI i848P Neo-LS BIOS

I have a bug with MSI i848P Neo-LS BIOS. I try many MSI i848P with same trouble : the CAS Latency is always set to 2.0 even if the memory is CAS Latency 2.5.
It doesn't depend on PSU or others things (graphics card,...).
    Try with Pentium 4C 2.6 or 2.8
But I have just one brand of memory (but many different sticks). Chips reference are VT56DD32M8PC-5 (256 or 512 Mb). This memory are reference as Cas Latency 2.5
If I set memory timings on SPD or manual : same result !!!
If I set memory speed on AUTO or 400 MHz : same result  !!!
If I set other timings, then they are save correctly (ie : RAS# precharge set to 3 or 4).
    I check timings with latest version of Memtest86+ V1.0 : http://www.memtest.org/
and of course, I get many errors.
The same memory tested on others mobo, give good results.
I try Windows XP installation and I get....  blue screens.
With some memory sticks : I have this message "memory timing too tighly",
if I press F1 to continue: then I get a memory cas latency of 2.5 with memtest86+ and then no error.
I try BIOS revision 1.0 (default) and 1.2: same result !!!
So, as I said before, I think this is a bug with the BIOS. I agree that a BIOS cannot detect correctly all kind of memory, but if you set memory timings manualy, then it must be set as you want ! ?
    Any idea...
    Thanks

    H0 Alex,
You are correct.I have the same problem with my 875p neo lsr on bios 1.9. TH0S 0S B0OS BUG.but everyone says your psu is not enough or your rams isnt  on the MSI Memory Compatability List.
why all of rams I try give same result?
MS0 boards works only with 10 or 20 ram.you don't say customer why you use this rams?
why in asus boards many os these rams working properly. This rams isnt on the MSI Memory Compatability List.but working.I try many no name rams and results are very good in all of the tests.
In my opinion MS0 bioses doesnt work good enough.

  • MSI P965 Neo board failure ?

I have the P965 Neo board running perfect for two years, for a few weeks ago the system didn't startup, a long beep sound came from the MB. I opened the case, checked connectors etc. and replaced the memory modules. After that the system runs ok, no problem occurs for almost three weeks.
For a few days ago, out of the blue,  the system didn't startup: error message: "WARNING Have option ROM can not be invoke (Vendor ID: 10Ech, Device ID:8167h)"
I reset the system and it passes the POST, the WINDOWS XP splash screen shows up but after a few seconds the blue progress bar stops.
I reset the system again and now the WINDOWS XP splash screen stays fade out, no progress bar
I reset the system several times, after a few times the system normally boots up and is ok.
I tested the HD with Speedfan Smart utility and it is found ok.  Also no virus etc is found. I checked the device manager, no driver problems.
Yesterday the system had the same problems (XP boot blue progress bar stops, sometimes the progress is very slow) but after a few restarts the system boots normal and is ok.
Tonight, after I had opened the case to measure the voltages, I startup the system but no problem occurs. The 12V and 5V are ok
I think I have a hardware problem but I'm doubt what hardware (MB,RAM,PSU,processor) causing this kind of problems.
    Can you help me ?
    thanks,

Clear CMOS and try booting the system again.
Was the system like this from Day 1 or this only happens after something has been done?
    Thks NovJoe ....
The system had run without any problem for more than 2 years.
I presume I have a connection problem on the MOBO or other hardware. If I place the PC case in the cabinet under my desk, the problem occurs. If I have the PC on the floor there is not any problem. It also happens only when the PC is cold.
I asked my hardware supplier, he suggested to test the hardware with a special self booting hardware test CD. It will cost 40 euro. I searched for such a CD on internet but didn't find one special for MSI boards. Do you know where I can get such a CD ?

So, power comes up, but then instantly comes Windows Vista with logon screen - NO posting by BIOS, no RAID initial screen, no scaning for hardware... it comes instantly to windows - but windows are in some inconsistent state and i cant login (freeze/BSOD ... but pointer can be moved by mouse and login button shows efect if i move pointer over - so windows are in memory and working) ... in this state is HDD led all time ON (shining) ... i can shut down and boot up again and everything is OK (windows are normaly restored from disk)
with older v1.5 BIOS ... my computer goes to same state like is described here - BLANK ... and BIOS setting was reseted
so and here is one similiar problem

  • MSI P965 Neo-F Sata & IDE presentation (& boot options)

    hi,
    I have purchased a MSI P965 Neo F motherboard.
    http://www.msicomputer.co.uk/Product...3735&cat_id=77
I have flashed the bios to the lastest 1.18 revision.
If you look at this board, you'll find it has 5 SATA ports.
    - 1 SATAII port by JMicron JMB361.
    - 4 SATAII ports by ICH8.
    Questions:
1.) The machine only appears to be able to boot from the 1 jmicron sata port.
2.) within the bios any disks plugged into the board on the other 4 ports show up as "ide" disks, this could be wording or this could be some cheap bus trick

    Hi, thanks for responding,

no wrong with "ide", as SATA ports on ICH8 are detected as IDE devices, (as opposed to detected as SCSI device).
could you clarify this, I think its just the "no wrong" line, what do you mean by this.

No, the machine is able to boot from any JMicron port, including PATA port.
there is only 1 jmicron sata port, so my initial comment was aimed at you can only boot from this 1 sata port - not the other 4 ich8 ports, I assume thats correct from your comment.
