MSI Power Edition R7850 White Screen

I have been constantly atleast once a week been suffering from these blank white screens while using my PC not necessarily playing games. It even gets into this screen while browsing some sites. I have to forcefully restart the system using the restart button everytime this happens.
The card is not being overclocked using the afterburner and infact is running at its core clock speed of 950 mhz all the while. Any help would be appreciated greatly.
Attaching an image. I even have an video can upload it to youtube if required.

  • MSI Power Edition N650TI PE 1GD5/OC and D975XBX2.

    Hello.
I would like to make a upgrade, but I am able to afford only replacement of the videocard.
    My rig
CPU Type - QuadCore Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700
    Motherboard - Intel Bad Axe 2 D975XBX2 (Bios v2618 - 02.12.2007)
    RAM - Corsair Dominator CM2X1024-6400C4D (DDR2-800)
Video Adapter - XFX GeForce 8800 GTX 768 MB       (I prefer Nvidia)
Power Supply - Thermaltake Toughpower 850W
    OS - Windows XP 32bit (SP3)
I was interested by the MSI Power Edition N650TI PE 1GD5/OC (PCIE 3.0) card as read that videocards of a 650 series are compatible to PCIE 1.0 x16.
I would like to consult with you before purchase.
It is very important for me:
    - Videocard has to work reliably in XP.
    - Performance of the PC shouldn't be lower than with the old videocard.
In the Geforce GTX 650 Ti user manual it is told that it uses 6-pin connector.
Is it the same connector as for 8800 GTX?
    Sorry for my bad english.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello.
I just found a review of a buyer of MSI Power Edition N650TI PE 1GD5/OC in Newegg.
This review disturbed me very much.
    Quote:
Not PCI express 1.x compliant as MSI states, and the PCI standard mandates. I have tried this in 3 older (still
powerful) PCIe 1.x computers, and none work correctly. Anything that relies only on the GPU (like games, and all of
the benchmark tools out there) work fine, but anything that requires higher bandwidth between the motherboard and
video card (like watching a movie) looks terrible with all sorts of rendering defects that get worse with more
movement (higher bandwidth). Tested the same card on a PCIe 2.0 system (which is actually slower than one of mine)
and it worked fine, so I know the card is good. I also know the motherboards are good because I have older PCIe 2.0
cards in them that work fine.
Could you please comment on this?
    Thanks in advance.

  • AIM Free edition showing white screen?

Hi, I have a 3GS with OS 3.1.2. I had AIM (Free Edition) installed, and it has been working fine for a week, until yesterday. Now, whenever I open the app, it only shows a white screen with the lines (8 of them).
I've tried removing the app from my iPhone, and then installing it using my iTunes but that didnt help. Installing the app using the iPhone doesnt work either.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

I reckon it's a problem at the AIM end. I've been using AIM on iPhone (O2) every day for weeks and it;s been fine until yesterday.

  • Msi ge700 switchable graphics white screen problem

help me plssssss...... my msi ge-700 has wihte screen on the ati hd radeon 5730 graphics card. but when i switched it on the intel graphics, the screen works fine. When I plugged my laptop in an external monitor using ati gpu, it works fine. what should i do????? i disassembled my laptop, i plugged and unplugged the lcd connection several times, nothing happened. Still white screen on the ati gpu, but not on the intel gpu.
    T_T

Based on the cross validation you did, it looks like either the build in panel or the cable has the problem. (so that's why a reconnecting isn't working)
I'd suggest to visit the nearby service center for a check.
    Good luck!

  • Macbook Pro Boot Issue, White Screen with Apple

Having a similar issue with my macbook pro. When I press the power button, a white screen appears with an apple icon in the middle and a small cirle on the bottom that is like a timer. I thought that the computer might be downloading something, but I left it on for hours and the computer didn't get out of that mode. I have tried several things such as the installation cd, first aid repair, but both said repairs weren't needed and that the drives were fine. Any suggestions on why the computer is doing this? It's been several days and I shut if off, leave it off for an entire day and when I turn it on, the same screen with the apple appears and nothing else.
    Any ideas are appreciated!
    Thank you!

    Hi Claudiat :
You could try a SMU reset, which may solve your problem,
    from Apple:
    MacBook, MacBook Pro
If the computer is on, turn it off.
Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.
Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
Press the Power button to restart the computer.

  • Stuck on White Screen on Thunderbolt Display Update - Lion

Anyone else have this problem? After the Thunderbolt display update, I get a white screen at the login after I restart my MacBook Pro. I either have to unplug my laptop so I can see the screen again to login, or I can hit enter and then blindly put in my password while he screen is blank and then it will pop back up again. It's annoying.
I didn't have this problem running Snow Leopard and I reset the PRAM and SMC already. This is also a clean install of Lion.

I've actually just posted a similar post on the Thunderbolt thread. Is there anyway to rollback the firmware? This is so frutrating to have to wait so long before actually getting to the login screen.
If the Thunderbold display is unplugged then the MacBook has no problems and instantly goes into the login screen - on the other hand having the Thunderbolt display connected to the MacBook - same as you describe - Power on Macbook - white screen for about 1-3 minutes before the Apple logo appears and proceeds to the login screen
Hope someone can read and sort thins out soon.

  • MSI R7850 POWER EDITION 2GD5/OC vs TWIN FROZR 2GD5/OC

I had to do an RMA with MSI for the R7850 POWER EDITION 2GD5/OC I had, and it turns out they don't have anymore inventory of it, so I'm accepting a R7850 TWIN FROZR 2GD5/OC as a replacement.
The only differences I can spot immediately are that I may lose voltage control, the Core clock comes slightly lower, and the heatsink is model III instead of IV.
I imagine I can just overclock with Afterburner if needed to up the core clock; I'm wondering if voltage control could also be unlocked though? Also is there any other difference that I should be aware of?

general difference between Power Edition and models with Twin Fozr,
is that Power Editions has Enhanced PWM Design and offers triple voltage control [compared to regular model: + memory voltage and + Aux voltage]

  • 20A 12v enough for R7850 Power Edition?

    Hi,
I recently purchased an MSI R7850 2GB Power Edition.
It's already installed, and I'm running Borderlands 2 very well. However, my PSU has only 20A on a single +12v rail. Is this enough?
When I ran BF3, I got white "snow" dots everywhere on the screen, but I'm not sure if this is related...
    Thanks for the help.

    Which driver do you use?
I ask because of the 12.10 driver does not run properly with the 7800 cards, but the 12.11 beta does
    http://www.msi-forum.de/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=103009
sorry it is German but you can see the photos.
Thanks for the reply! I tried the 12.11 drivers last night, and the issue is still there.
Here is a screenshot of my machine playing Witcher 2: http://postimage.org/image/6ew87dn85/full/ - If you look at the helmet on the right side, you can see a lot of dots. You can also see them on the character's clothes, and in the top-right corner (they look like circular outlines in this section)Pretty much everywhere! If I play on LOW setting, the dots are less strong, but still there.
Here is BF3: http://postimage.org/image/3kbhepavp/full/ - As you can see, the issue is pretty terrible on this game! It makes no difference what settings the game is on.
    To summarize:
Not the PSU (brand new Corsair)
    Not RAM Timings
Not the Catalyst Drivers or Mobo BIOs
    Not overheating
    Not the MOBO/CPU (brand new)
Thanks for the help so far, but any other ideas? I have a feeling this brand new card is faulty.

  • Screen flashing/black screen for 1-2 seconds - 7850 power edition 2gb/OC

I recently bought the MSI R7850 Power Edition 2GD5/OC. I have installed amd catalyst 12.10. I have no issues while playing games...the only game i have played since i bought the card is prototype 2 (all settings set to high). The problem is while browsing or when not playing my screen flashes (just once - screen becomes black) for about 1-2 seconds. This does not happen regularly, but quite a few times.. i have uninstalled and re-installed the same catalyst version twice (downloaded from different sources - one from msi and the other from amd). The problem still persists.

  • R7850 Power Edition 2GD5/OC and Afterburner + Driver Issues/Concerns?

I just got my R7850 Power Edition 2GD5/OC today, and did a fresh install of Windows 7 but just had a few concerns and issues so far:
    1. When using the latest beta (12.11) from AMD, Nexuiz seems to cause the system to BSOD. Kombustor, BF3, and other games didn't have any issues, so I just found this strange. However, these are beta drivers for a reason I guess. In any case, 12.10 seems to work fine with Nexuiz, so it definitely seems driver-related...
    2. The highest Core Clock limit in Afterburner is 1050MHz, the same limit in Catalyst. Since this is a PE/OC card, I would've figured the limit to be way higher than this by default? I tried enabling the unofficial overclocking method (t=338906 on Guru3D), but this just caused Afterburner to not have/set any values for both Core and Memory Clocks. I then took a look at this guide (t=359671 on Guru3D) and put the 2 .dll's in Afterburner's folder, and it causes it to be able to read and set clocks properly, however, there is an insane amount of flickering at times (I think due to switching of clocks?).
    3. MSI LiveUpdate 5 can't read my card BIOS or get any information about it aside from it being a 7800 Series card. I was mainly interested in checking for any VBIOS updates, and if it helps, GPU-Z tells me my BIOS Version is 015.015.000.002.000000 (113-xxx-xxx).
    4. The dust-removal fan tech, or more specifically, the fan reversal spinning doesn't stop after 30 seconds if no GPU driver exists in Windows. In other words, if I'm using the Standard VGA drivers, the fans keep spinning (in reverse I'm pretty sure) at what sounds like full power.
I have CPU-Z and GPU-Z validation URL's in my signature for any more system information, and I also have a hec 585W PSU.

For 1. you already solved this yourself to be driver related.
Yeah, I guess I was just more or less curious if anyone else had a similar incident with these drivers.
Quote from: flobelix on 24-October-12, 19:52:46
For 2.: Use Driver Fusion in Safe Mode to remove current VGA drivers.
Then install latest drivers from MSI
    Try again
From what I understand, those are just the standard Catalyst 12.8 drivers from AMD? In any case I saw http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18431335 which in short said to make a desktop shortcut of AB with -xcl, and download some patch; and doing both of those actually worked on Catalyst 12.10 drivers. So everything (so far) seems ok, no flickering or anything.
Quote from: flobelix on 24-October-12, 19:52:46
For 3.: Upload current vbios to a filehoster and post link as well as add S/N
    VBIOS: http://puu.sh/1i8DU

For 4.: That is normal, it runs at full speed until fan control kicks in with the driver.

    Yes, that's it.
You have to power off your computer, then to turn it on again then the new vbios will take affect.
Try MSI VGA drivers for your card: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R7850-Power-Edition-2GD5-OC.html#/?div=Driver&os=All
Remove current one with >>Driver Fusion<< in Safe Mode 1st,

  • MSI NEW P.E. Series Video Card - GTX670 Power Edition 2GD5/OC with Twin Frozr 4

Glad to be back in the forum and I was been busy for awhile. By this time lots of PC hardware already came out especially from Nvidia. Just like today my share would be MSI's N670GTX PE 2GD5/OC video card.
First of all lets talk about the GTX670 GPU chip. This GPU is the younger sibling of GTX680 which uses the same 28nm GK104 chip but with one disabled shader cluster/core.The reference or standard GPU clock is 915Mhz with a turbo boost of 980 and as for the memory is concerned, it has a 256bit memory bus connected to a 2GB GDDR5 memory with speed of 6008Mhz. Just like with any Kepler based architecture, the card would also have all the goodies like "Adaptive V-Sync", "AA TXAA (Temporal Super Sampling)", supports "DX11.1" and improved 3D Vision Surround.
Moving on, let's check out now what MSI did with their GTX670 SKU based video card. The card is under a new Series named "Power Edition" (series comparison table below) and it comes factory overclocked from GPU clock of 915MHz to 1020MHz and Turbo boost of 980Mhz to 1080Mhz. It also comes with the 4th version of Twin Frozr Thermal Cooling design with a theme color of Black and Blue which matches the color of MSI's midrange to high-end motherboards as well. The dual 8cm PWM fan based cooler are equipped with Propeller Fan Blades which draws air better and now has the so called "Dust Removal Technology", basically as you startup your PC the fan will rotate counter clockwise for 30 seconds clearing the dust from the cooling heatsink. Adding a finishing touch, MSI equipped the video card with their Military Class III components ensuring the best performance, efficiency, higher overclocks and durability.
