MSI Pro266TD Master-L Stepping question

Hello guys..
This is my first post here..
I have plans for to buy a Dual board for 2 pentium 3 that i got.
Are two (2) Pentiums 3 Coppermine 933mhz processors.
I'm interesting in this board :
http://www.knowledgemicro.com/detail.php?p=MB-9105-02&c=pw
so do i need to know is if it true that i need that the 2 processor must be The SAME stepping???
is this true????
Thanx

Intel suggest no more than one stepping apart and have the lower stepping CPU in socket#1.
Still, it's best if they are prefectly matched.

  • MSI K8D Master PCI-X Question

    Hi,
I was just wandering if anyone could tell me if the MSI K8D Master is compatible with any PCI-X 16 video cards.
    Any information would be appreciated.

This is a server board, and server typically have no use for AGP or other fancy videostuff.
You are confusing PCI-E with the PCI-X that the board has.
PCI-X is an extended PCI slot that can do 64bit and 100MHz instead of the normal PCI being 32 Bit and max 66MHz.
This lifts the PCI speed from max 256MB/s to 1.2GB/s.
Raid controllers and very-fast network controller bennefit a lot from this.
Ergo, the K8D boards are for server use only.
If you want a big graphical workstation with 2 Opterons, it's the K8T Master board that you are looking for.
But it also doesn't have PCI-E as of yet.

  • MSI pro266TD Master LR Promise 20265R driver needed

I've had this mobo for about 3 years, and never bothered using its onboard RAID feature, but I just struck a good deal on 2 brand new 120GB maxtor HDD's. Now I had trouble even getting the Fastrak100 BIOS running, it supposedly won't run if I have usb keyboard enabled, I found that out after a couple tries and then I reset the BIOS to default settings. In the BIOS lite utilities I set my two 120's to stripe, done. Now I don't have the RAID driver disk anymore, MSI doesn't have it for download, and neither does promise for the onboard driver. They have the regular fastrak100 driver, which I loaded on when installing WINXP, but at the end it doesn't detect any drives to install it onto. I suspect it isn't the right driver, so I'm wondering if anyone else has had RAIDing problems with this mobo and if anyone can give me a copy of the RAID driver disk.

why not just try a regular xp install of the cd to the array alone
as it could all be down to the fact of an error in that method
as ive never heard of doing it that way
well when I do a CD install, it asks for any third party drivers, so I press F6 and choose fasttrak100, but after everything loads it will only detect my IDE drives not the Array.
Not only that but on My Computer the array shows up as an optical drive, on disk management it comes up as just a disk drive, but on my computer the icon is an optical drive, could it be that windows installation is reading it as an optical and not a HDD.

  • Keyboard weirdness with MSI Pro266TD Master (MS-9105)

I've been having problems with this board since I installed in a month or so ago.  It works beautifully for the most part (handles dual CPU *much* more stably than the IWill DVD266u-RN it replaced). However, there's a persistent problem such that, when the system has been on for awhile, the keyboard gets "confused" and into a state where the shift key is stuck on (even if hasn't been pressed), and it's impossible to type lower case or unshifted characters.  This also extends to problems with the mouse where clicking on one item might wrongly select a whole group.
This happens anywhere from a few minutes to 12 hours of operation.  Often times, if I reboot after this has occured, the keyboard is nonresponsive, and I have to cycle power once or twice until the system will act normally.
My normal configuration has the keyboard running through a KVM switch, but I have reproduced the problem even when directly connecting to the PC, bypassing the KVM switch.  The problem also doesn't occur with another PC connected to the same keyboard, so I don't think it's a hardware problem with that.
I've tried upgrading the BIOS to 1.2 since the notes indicated that it had a fix that was keyboard related (though not exactly the same symptom).  I've tried reseating the connector, checking for bent pins, etc.  The system will work fine for awhile, and I can not link the start of the problem to any application, process, action, game, or anything else.  The power supply is the same one as I used to use with the Iwill, which never manifested this problem.
It's seemingly random at to when
    it starts.
Anyone run into this problem?  Any ideas on how to fix it?
Any help is appreciated.  System details are below.  Thanks.

  • MSI Pro266TD-LR Questions

    Hi to everyone,
I was using Acorp 6a815epd with a pair of 1.26ghz piii tualatin's and upgradeware adapters. That was until one of the sockets of the Acorp, got burned. Also i was having some problems with the upgradeware adapters, as one of them would not sit well on the sockets making no good contact with the socket and having as a result system crashes.
So i decided to buy something else. And after a lot of reading i decided to get the MSI pro266td Master-LR board with the VIA pro266T.I am not really a fun of VIA, but i have heard some good comments about this chipset.
I run it now with my dual tualatin's [email protected] 155mhz fsb and its completely stable. It can go more but its not 100% stable. As ddr is very cheap now I bought a corsair xms 2700 DDR dimm.My benchmarks are really good.Getting same performance on Sandra with 2x2ghz xeons w/o HT of course.
    My Questions now:
    1.
I heard that there is a newer BIO, which is not on the MSI support website. Can some one email it to me?
    [email protected]
This board does not have full Raid version.I saw on this thread that there is a BIOS that gives full support and 48bit LBA.
    http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.p...t=pro266td+bios
Can anyone email me the BIOS or tell me where can i get it?
    2.
Also the onboard Intel network card will get recognised by NT/Linux, but i have to set it to half/full duplex in order to work.It wont negotiate straight with my netgear switch. This is a bit weird.Anyone else have this problem or know a solution to this?
    3.
Sometimes when its overclocked it wont start and i have to press reset once or twice and then starts.I am thinking that the PSU has to do something with this because its overclocked..Any ideas?
    4.
Should i use Hyperion or 4-1 normal drivers from VIA?
Any other software/utility/patch for error fixing or better performance?
Any help would be really appreciated.

1.The bios you need for the full RAID is a hacked version and not an official one. I have no idea where you would find it.
    2.Don't know really.
3.It might be the PSU.\, worth a shot.
4.The normal VIA drivers are what you need (4in1 hyperion).

  • MSI K7D Master-L & 3ware 7506-4LP boot hang

I recently purchased a 3ware Escalade 7506-4LP RAID Controller (IDE, 4 ports - see product info here) for use with my MSI K7D Master-L (MSI-6501-030 - see product info here) to replace my Promise FastTrak100 TX4. On boot, the system POSTs fine, and then freezes solid at the point at which it should load the BIOS for the 3ware controller. I get nothing but a blank screen with a blinking cursor in the top left hand corner, and a hard reset (CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't work) is required to to reset the machine. The diagnostic LEDs on the motherboard indicate it's freezing at the point where it is "Initializing IDE controller".
    What I have tried:
    - Verified BIOS on RAID card was latest version (1.08.00.048)
    - Removed all PCI cards (except for RAID controller and video card)
    - Adding 33 MHz PCI cards to 64/66 PCI slot to slow down bus
    - Tried RAID controller in each PCI slot
    - Flashed the motherboard BIOS to 3 different versions, 1.91, 1.82, and 1.5 (which the motherboard was validated for use with this card on - see here)
    - Tried various BIOS settings (ACPI on/off, PCI Latency, etc)
    - Disabled all onboard devices (sound, ide, fdc, serial, parallel, etc.)
    - Detached all drives from card
    - Tested card in another computer to verify it works - it does.
I have noticed some people on this forum have had similar problems with SCSI or RAID cards:

  • Master-Detail Form Questions

    Master-Detail Form Questions
I have two questions in regards to master-detail forms:
First, the form I am working on has 25 detail rows displayed to the user. If the user has more than 25 detail records for the master, I want them to be able to add more. For instance, after they enter the 25th record, I would like a pop up window to ask them if they would like to add more detail records for this master. If they select yes, then the records they have entered would be saved and then the form would repopulate with the current master record and another empty 25 detail records.
Second, I would like the Detail Action to be set to Insert if the user moves to a new detail row and selects an item from a combo box.
Thanks for any and all help.
    Jeremy.

    Hi Sharmila.
Is there a way to repopulate only the Master information without populating the detail after the 'Save' button is pressed? I have written code that uses the session variables and repopulates the form with all the data that has just been saved, but I need only the master without the detail.
    Thanks.

  • MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200-VTD8X question

does the MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200-VTD8X question video card have a sheet of copper on the back side of the video card?

I don't know because I don't have that video card, but on one of the hardware sites I've been to, it says the backplate is simply too light to be copper and they suspect it's copper-coloured aluminum. I am not sure, maybe someone with the card can check it out.

  • MSI @ANYWHERE MASTER BLUE SCREEN ON TV

    hi
today i bought a MSI @NYWHERE MASTER, radio and composite works ok, but when i try to use the tv only i see a blue screen in MSIPVS, and the software can´t recognize any channel from my cable tv, only i can see a blue screen.
i´m in argentina and the tv signal is PAL-N

The MSI TV@nywhere Master (MS-8606) does have driver problems which affect some more than others.
My TV@nywhere Master driver problems are not as severe as yours. There are others I have talked to that have had problems get the card to tune in correctly but only to certain channels. I may be lucky that the channels affected are not used in my area (PAL-I UK), but even so if I wish to use the TV@nywhere Master with any other software (including WinDVR 3 the so called upgrade to MSIPVS) they will not work unles MSIPVS has been run first. Even after MSIPVS has been run there is no guarantee that the tuner will find any channels (like WinDVR 3. The card is no problem when SVideo or Composite inputs are used but this defeats the objective of a TV Tuner card. MSI may argue that MSIPVS works and it does for me but at the cost of a poor display of the "Invincible Video Quality" promised by MSI.
You are able to see the true video quality capabilties of this card by using other software and using one of the Video in options but to watch live TV via MSIPVS is very distracting. The display from MSIPVS whilst playing back live TV (OK on playback of recorded TV) is spoilt by the amount of jaggies, this seams to be cause by every 8-16th scan line either moving a few pixel from the previous 8-16 lines or by the complete absense of 2 or 3 scan lines every 8-16 lines. Either way it is very distracting to watch and destroys the pleasure of watching live TV.
All the problems with the TV@nywhere Master (MS-8606)are related to the Drivers and the supplied software. I will not recommend this card to anyone unless their main use is to capture video or do not intend to watch live TV. If MSI rectify these "flies in the ointment" they would have a TV card that would be hard to beat.

  • MSI E7205 Master-L Problems

I just purchased the E7205 motherboard.  It said it was easily overclockable, but it don't have any settings in the bios to do so, except for the memory.  I installed WinXP with all the updates and drivers for the motherboard using live update and MSI update.  I am getting really bad static off the onboard audio.  I have checked the IRQ's for the device and it shares the same IRQ with the SMBus controller.  Knowing that it was the IRQ sharing in winXP I reinstalled and forced windows XP to install in APIC mode, which was a major performance enhancer.  Since everything seperated into there own IRQ channels, except the AC'97 controller and the SMBus controller.  Since XP does not allow you to change IRQ settings I reinstalled a second time in APIC and the AC'97 and SMBus was still sharing the same IRQ.  The reason that I think it is due to the IRQ sharing is because you can hear the pentium clock through the speakers.  Also I have 8x agp card that the motherboard does not recognize, and there are no settings in the bios to change this.  Please help I spent this much money on the mobo and don't want to have to turn around and buy a seperate sound card.
    MSI E7205 Master-L
    Intel P4 2.80 GHz
     768 MB of PC2100
    PNY Ti4200 8x
    60 GB Maxtor DiamondMax
    Sony 48x24x48 CD/RW
    XP Pro, SP1

Ok, I installed the sound drivers listed from the above link.  It made it worse.  The reason I think it is an IRQ issue because during the multiple installations before I installed winXP in APIC mode, I was having the same problem, but this one time I managed to get the Multimedia controller on an IRQ to itself and it worked fine.  Which made me excited, cause that was the 5th XP installation.  The only thing is that the video card and all the usb controllers were sharing the same IRQ which killed my video performance.  Using 3DMark2001se I was only getting a score of 8330, which I thought was awful for this system.  Then I forced XP in APIC mode, which took care of the IRQ sharing except for the sound controller and SMbus controller.  Thus again I used 3DMark2001se and scored 10500-11888, which was great to me without any overclocking.  But the sound problem still hangs over the system.  I'll try and describe the sound, it sounds like you have a computer mic over the pentium processor.  Everytime you open a program you hear it work.  I have looked over the internet about this static/noise problem to no avail.  Do you guys have anymore thoughts.
P.S. - Saving up for 2 512 MB corsairs, to help with the memory.

    XP, Me, 2000, 98, 95, NT 4.0
this machine runs 2 processors (athlons MP)& Wxp PRO.
I installed the software like i always do it ( put it into my cdrw and appeared the install screen) i was prompted to install the mouse software & music match too, i did it.
    My machine is as follows:

I think Wxp pro, 2 processors & mouseware from Logitech are not good combination!
Logitech: I won’t buy anything from them again, the box the mouse came in has a legend telling you: over 10 million Cordless mice Sold!! (Yeah, that´s right for uni processor machines, maybe)
I ´m still learning things about my dual processor machines: they do not like everything that is designed for uniprocessor machines!!!
A dual processor machine is something fast, more than one processor has to be better in many aspects. But again, not everything is designed for a dual processor machine.
Does anyone know how to back up your profile in  Wxp pro????
    Any comments are welcomed!!!

Before Installing CD drivers you should always check to see if later drivers are available.  The 9.6x drivers have been out for ages so go and try them.
