MSI PT880 Bios 1.5 found here

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=527&kind=1
Everyone mentions 1.4 and 1.53beta but here's 1.5 on MSI bios page.
Update Description - ATI X800PRO AGP card can not work porperly.
- System can't recognize AMI ZIP100/ZIP750.
- SATA HDD can't work after overclock

Sorry to say, like I said in another thread.
This 1.5 bios is a bit of a joke. I have the Radeon X800 Pro videocard, with the 1.4 bios on my PT880 NEO-LSR board, and the Radeon X800 Pro works perfect and is stable. I really don't see a great need right now to download and flash this bios to my board.
All I'm going to do with this bios for now, is put it on a DOS boot floppy in case something would happen, where I would have a need to flash the bios of my board.

  • Anyone use a Pinnacle PCTV Stereo on a MSI PT880 ?

I need to know if anyone use a Pinnacle PCTV Stereo card on a MSI PT880 motherboard. As i cant get it to work on mine, i have to know if anyone else has succed this operation. Or maybe this tv-card isnt compatible with this mobo ?
I have tried the tv-card on 2 other computers, and it work great.
I can explain the problem here too (even if its in another thread too):
If i put the card into a pci slot the d-bracket show 4 leds. If i assign a IRQ for the pci slot in bios to 11 it seems to boot, but i cant have my intel pro/100 pci nic inserted at the same time, then it show 4 red lights again.
But if i just have the tv-card inserted and assign IRQ 11 and boot windows and install all drivers and software for the card, everything seems to work .. except that it cant find any channels.
And if i shut the pc down for an hour, and start it again. It again show the 4 red leds .. even as i havent changed any setting in the bios.
I got nuts on this one .. but im sure want my tv-card to work .. so i can check mtv when im doing other things.
If someone can help .. im being very happy.

Yup. That would probably work. I don't know. Not sounding good. Is there a reasonable priced pc shop in your area that has an SPI flash programming device that could flash the chip for you?

  • MSI VGA Bios Not available

I ran Sandra last night to pull up sys info. The MSI 9800GT BIO was written in the year 2000. I also know the next comment will be,> what do you think a bios does and why should it be update.
It should be updated to unlock parameters that were not taken into considerations ten years ago.
I have never seen Sandra miss read anything, it has always been on the money, and very conservative in its reply.
Where is the updated BIO for MSI Graphic accelerations?

There is no such, the BIOS is not a driver and shall be not updated when everything is working fine.
If need it, it can be provided by MSI Tech.

That VGA is not 10 years old I fail to see how VBIOS can be 10 years old in such case.

  • BIOS halt not found Pavilion 7580

After attempting to use my HP Recovery disks, it was reported that files could not be copied when recovering XP. I386 files or something to that effect. When I DL PC Doctor & attempted to run it, I received 2 windows that showed AX,BX,CX,DX Patterns & under that was CPU Number 2 (Apic ID 01H) in the first window then in the second window below it for CPU Registers................. & BIOS halt not found. I am unable to recover nor restore my computer. I need help in what to do next. I attempted tom clear the BIOS & returned the BIOS back to defaults but no luck. Anybody with help is welcomed.

I have an SR1750nx, and I ran the PC Doctor Diagnostic
I put a dual core processor into it, and I also received the message  BIOS halt not found.
I then put a different processor and it tested everything in my computer. The bios message never came up.
    What does this mean??
    Do you know???
Do I have a defective processor????
I downloaded every update and driver and, I was never able to get rid of that bios halt not found message.
I have a bran new hard drive, and I reinstalled the  windows xp operating system.
I used a Western Digital diagnostic for the hardrive and it passed the test.

Hi guys, I'm new to this board.
I've searched everywhere and couldn't find any MSI U270 BIOS mods. I'm trying to upgrade to the Windows 8 BIOS, but since the update package can only be used under UEFI mode, I'd have to enable UEFI in my BIOS. BUT, there isn't an option to do that, and there isn't a DOS version of the BIOS update either.
    Thanks in advance.

  • GBLAN failure on MSI PT880 NEO-FSR

On a newly built system using the MSI PT880 NEO-FSR I am experiencing intermittent and frequent disconnects from my LAN.  I have tested with both Win2000 and WinXP.  When the system boots, I generrally get an IP address and gateway address.  If I start a continuous ping on another host, after a short while I start receiving "Hardware Error"messages, and Destination host unreachable.  Ny IP in most cases is still good, however sometimes it reverts to autonet.  If I do ping successfully for a while and start IE, it fails immediately.  I have the link with another system, and it works fine...Any ideas?

  • 975x platinum PUE + MSI 7950GX2 + BIOS issue

    hi all,
Does anyone have a MSI 975X Platinum PUE and MSI 7950GX2 putting together as a system? (My rig's detail is as my signature)
I have a case here. These 2 only work if I use BIOS 7.0. I have tried BIOS 7.3 and 7.4, both will distort the Windows screen. To be exact, the "transparent" layer of the GUI display is distorted, such as mouse cursor appears as a big square distorted, some icons are missing, video playback is totally ruined with distorted output, etc. Only BIOS 7.0 gets them to work fine. This rules out it's due to power supply, RAM, or the card itself is the culprit.
I have yet to try on BIOS 7.1, 7.2 and other beta. But I can't tell what's wrong with the newer BIOSes, even I kept all the settings the same. I have yet to get to MSI on this...
Does anyone have similar issue with me?

well ...its not babble but I will try to clear it up a bit...
The blue PATA (old style IDE connection) is integrated in ICH7DH, meaning that you should be able to hook up a drive to it and it should be recognized. This is only place that you can connect your old style IDE optical drives...
The other PATA (IDE 2) and SATA 5 are controlled by the jmicron chipset (requires the jmicron driver) are intended for hard drives. The jmicron ports allow you to run a single PATA hard drive, or a single SATA drive, or you can combine a PATA hard drive and a SATA drive in a Raid.
The SATA ports 1-4 are intended for, well.. SATA devices such as hard drives and optical drives. They are controlled by the Intel chipset on your motherboard. You can operate the hard drives individually or in Raid configurations... Some of the drivers for these devices may be integrated into your Operating System, others may have to be installed using the F6 method, and others can be added after your OS is installed...
One other quick thing, both PATA and SATA drives are IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) drives, since both have drive controllers built in. If you have trouble sleeping, you can read a bit more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Technology_Attachment
@Maesus, Sorry to get off topic, just wanted to help neoplasmic understand a bit more...
I tried searching on the web and on the forums like guru3d and found no one with the same problem as you.
The only other person that I could find that has a problem is Zentos on this forum, he can not find a solution either...

  • MSI-6712 BIOS update issues

I have a PC, running XP Pro SP3, which was built for me nigh on 9 years ago.
    Motherboard: MSI-6712 (KT4V-L) Version 1.0 (North Bridge KT400A Rev 80, South Bridge VT8235 Rev 00)
    CPU: AMD XP2800+ CPU (Socket A 462, 3000 MHz)
    Memory: 1.0GB DDR
GPU: nVidia GeForce FX-5200 (128 MB)
About 4 years back I considered updating the BIOS, but the MS LiveUpdate utility (v 3.5 I think it was) no longer worked (wrong URL). Tried updating it, but the update (can’t remember the version) shut down my system whenever I tried to use it. So I rolled back and left it.
Recently, a program I was evaluating (running on .Net 4 Client Profile) caused my PC to freeze up and after uninstalling I discovered all manner of problems with USB peripherals (recognition and auto-play issues).
Tried to restore a backup (Retrospect Express HD) from a Maxtor One Touch III external drive but it wasn’t having it, presumably because of the drive recognition issues, and a straight System Restore wouldn’t complete (because XP would freeze at log off).
I feared there had been hardware damage, but decided to try a clean re-install of XP Pro. The person who built the PC had left a folder of system set up files (VIA chipset 4in1, LAN, RealTek AC97, nVidia drivers, utilities etc) on the hard drive (which I backed up) but when it came to installing XP, I couldn’t figure out which chipset drivers to install, as there were multiple versions (presumably for his purposes). So I let XP install the default windows drivers and then replaced them with the latest VIA 4in1 set for the KT4V-L from the MSI download page (can’t post link) – driver version 5.11a, release 20.4.2007
Seemed to go well, but it was suggested to me that it might be a good time to update the BIOS. So I installed MSI Live Update 5 and ran a scan. Strange thing is that an automatic scan (which pulls up just the nVidia driver and utilities) reports that none are installed and a manual scan reports that the BIOS, Drivers and Utilities are the latest version and no there is need to update. How can that be? I’ve never updated the BIOS and the only other utility I re-installed is PC Alert 5.
Yet when I run a SIW (System Information for Windows) scan and it reports the following:

How is it that Live Update 5 doesn’t pick this up?
So, apologies for the convoluted post (thought it best to explain the events leading to this), but what to do?
    1.   Do I need to update the BIOS, given that it has never been done and I now have the latest VIA 4in1 drivers installed?
    2.   Why is Live Update 5 not reporting the status correctly and is there anything I can do to correct this.
    3.   Otherwise, if a BIOS update, is warranted, should I go ahead and download directly from the Global MSI webpage and then which version? (can’t post link). I note from the version descriptions that it was v1.7 (26/12/2002) that added support for AMD XP 2800. Strange then that the guy who put together my PC, would not have updated the BIOS from v1.0 to 1.7 at that time!!
    4.   Should I also update the nVidia driver, and if so, when? Before or after a BIOS update or is that irrelevant?

Edit: Actually, looking at the original SIW scan report I see that there are some errors relating to DirectX. Not sure if I need to update DirectX (surely MS Update does that automatically) and/or the nVidia driver.
    5.   One other thing that concerns me is that the SIW scan reports that the BIOS is reporting wrong values for the DDR memory. What’s that about?

Sorry for cross-posting to another forum, but this has got me in a twizzle
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/pc-hardware/89688-need-ram-recommendations-msi-kt4v-l-2.html#post493343
According to the poster (Post #30), the KT4V-L can support 3gB DDR400.
I looked at the MB in my PC and it is in fact stamped MS-6712 KT4AV v10A (assumed 1.0A ). Both CPU-Z and SIW report it as a MS-6712 v1.0 (BIOS 07.00T  04/02/01, Firmware 101.114)
According to the MSI product webpage, the only difference between the KT4AV and KT4AV_L is that the latter includes an (optional) on-board 10/100 LAN.
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/KT4AV.html#/?div=Detail
The ethernet port on my PC is (as described in Device Manager) is a Via Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter, whereas in the listed MSI specifications, the optional 10/100 LAN is stated to be a VIA VT6103 LAN controller. So possibly then I was mistaken in assuming that my MB is a KT4AV-L.
Even so, if the statement about the KT4AV-L supporting 3gB DDR400 is true, surely this also applies to the KT4AV ?
Looking at the available BIOS updates on the MSI page, I can see no mention of an upgrade in DDR400 capacity:
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/KT4AV.html#/?div=BIOS
Edit: Ah, the guy in the post specifically refers to a KT4V-L v1.1 not KT4AV-L and I see that it is different product:
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/KT4V---KT4V-L--v1-0-.html#/?div=Detail
What's confusing is that they all designated as MS-6712. So if anyone, like me, does a look up under MS-6712 they could pull up either version, and since the KT4AV/L and KT4V/L have different BIOS update series, I can see how someone could easily flash the wrong BIOS.
That aside, the memory specifications for the KT4V/L are essentially the same as those in the User Guide that came with my KT4AV:
Supports up to 3GB PC1600/2100/2700/3200* DDR SDRAMs
*See Glossary for recommended DDR400 modules - with the largest listed module capacity being 2 x 512MB
So where does this "up to 3GB DDR400 capacity" notion come from. I'd really want to believe it. And if the guy in the PC shop is to be believed, I'd settle for just 2GB.
Edit 2: Oh, boy, so there is a separate product listing for the KT4V-L v1.1:
    http://us.msi.com/product/mb/KT4V-L--v1-1-.html#/?div=Detail
Yet, the memory specifications appear to be the same as those for the other MS-6712 versions and BIOS updates are the same as those for the KT4AV-L (very confusing). In fact the downloadable User Guide is the same  - 'KT4AV MS-6712 (v1.X) ATX Motherboard'.
    Am I missing something here?

  • MSI 645Ultra bios 1.9B1 with Fast-Writes option.

you can get it from here:

    Im using it btw.

nah not official... remember when i was complaining about this board that it doesnt support fast-write and stuffs.... well that complaint got the msi engineer going... assaf gave me this bios to test it out and i hooked boris with it also...  so feel free to test it...
as for me it seems nothing so far... it just feels like they added option on the bios for it, nothing amazing really =D
