  • Questions about my MSI R5770 Hawk Radeon HD 5770 and my Dell Studio 7100

Ok, I have had this card installed for about a year now. From the beginning Catalyst Control Center had given me error messages, "Catalyst Control Centre: Host application has stopped working. Windows is checking for solutions" every time I start the machine or every time I try to use the Catalyst Control Center. This has not been a problem because I have been using a 2 monitor system using the DVI port from on and the HDMI to Display Port adapter to the second larger monitor (if I went straight HDMI I can't change the settings and I end up with a 1 inch black border around the desktop and the outer edge of the 23" monitor,) so I just worked around with the HDMI to DVI. Well now I am trying to hook up three monitors. One to the Display port through a Displayport to DVI, one to the HDMI through the HDMI to DVI and one to the Display port. No matter what I try to do through the Windows display control panel, I can not get the displayport monitor (which ever is hook to that port) to display. Windows 7 does detect all three monitors, but it will not allow me to "extend the desktop" to the third monitor and I still can't get the Catalyst Control Center to work.
I have uninstalled all files from ATI or AMD that involve the video and reinstalled the latest drivers and software, but the Catalyst Control center still is not running.
If you could help me with this it would be great. I am a graphics designer and web designer/developer and not a hardware or software tech and I have been googling and trying different possible answers since yesterday morning.
    My graphics card is
MSI R5770 Hawk Radeon HD 5770
    My computer is
Dell Studio XPS 7100, AMD Athlon IIX4 630 Processor 2.80 GHz
    8 gb
    64-bit operating system
I am attempting to hook up a LG W2361 to the HDMI through HDMI to DVI adapter (presently working) at 1920 x 1080
an LG W1952 (at 1440 x 900) through the DVI port to DVI (presently working) and
an old Samsung SyncMaster 170t  to the Displayport through a the adapter (not working) monitor is detected but it will not allow the extend desktop to be applied.
Hope someone can help, thanks in advance for just reading all of this.

Just incase anyone runs into a similar problem. I figured it out.
Somehow in one of either the ATI driver updates or in a Microsoft update, my drivers and software was contaminated. I deleted all software and drivers for the card, which I had already tried several times. But this time I went into safe mode used CCcleaner in safe mode and cleared the register of all entries. I then reloaded and the Catalyst Control center and it works fine now.
The problem with the three monitors seems to be that the one hooked to the displayport, if you are using more than 2 monitors, must be hooked to an active displayport adapter. I was using a passive adapter. So either I need to buy a very expensive adapter or.....maybe a new monitor that uses displayport.
Hopefully this will help someone else having this issue.

  • Installed MSI R5770 Hawk but PC says: HD 3200

Hello to all. I just purchased and installed A MSI R5770 HAWK video card. I installed all the software and everything looks good, but after I finnished the install through the ATI Catalyst manager, I clicked on "View log" and it said: Hardware info=   ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics
Did I do something wrong? I believe that the HD3200 is the on-board graphics(maybe). What should I do to get the most out of this GPU?? I do have monitor hooked up threw the HDMI on the card and I have good pic., I just thought that the Hardware should say: "ATI HD5770 " shouldn't it?
By the way I did search the forms before I posted, just in case you notice that this is my first post. Many Thanks, >>>>RiZ<<<<<

Yes, the HD3200 is integrated and not related to MSI R5770 HAWK
So the 5770 is not detected by the system or?
Have you checked in device manager? Is it listed there?

  • MSI R5770-PMD1G

    Hi Everyone,
I am have a problem with MSI R5770-PMD1G Graphic Card.
I am running following configuration -
MSI 890GXM-G65 with BIOS Version 1.D with Windows 7 64 Bit on AMD II X4 955 with 4GB Corsair CM3X2G1333C9 memory.
The problem is when I attach PCI-E Power Connector to the MSI R5770-PMD1G Card from my Cooler Master V700 Power Supply, the computer doesn't boot, however when I remove the PCI-E Power Connector from the Graphic Card, the system boots normally, but Windows recognize the card.
However the fan on the MSI R5770-PMD1G runs when the computer is booted without the power connector connected to the Graphic Card.
Can anyone advice whats wrong and how to correct it.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Sumit

Try the card in both PCI-E slots and see if there is any difference. Also try the card in another system if possible.

  • MSI R5770 @ core speed of 1031mhz & mem speed of 5648mhz

Just got a new toy to play with MSI R5770 What I really like the most out of this card is the DX11 capability, 40nm GPU Chip (runs really cool even at high clocks), Overclockability and most of all "Performance over the Price". A video card which is not that too expensive but has a big headroom for performance.
After buying the video card. I benched it and overclocked it right away, hehehe. No mercy for the VC and pushing it to the limits. From a stock core speed of 850mhz and memory speed of 4800mhz. I was able to overclock it to  1031mhz core speed and memory to 5648mhz This was all on air and no extra fans or whatsoever.
Below was my system configuration for the short quick test

    3. AUD_MIC_BIAS
    4. AUD_VCC
    5. AUD_FPOUT_R
    6. AUD_RET_R

    8. KEY
    9. AUD_FPOUT_L
    10. AUD_RET_L
Guide me pls where should i put this cords because i only got 7 cords.
    TNX IN ADVANCE

Your case connectors are not complient with the HD Audio connectivity standard.  In order to make this work, you'll need to disable the Automatic Front Panel Jack Detection Function in the Realtek HD Audio Manager.
Connecting your case's ports should be rather either:
    First of all:
    GND ---> 2. AUD_GND
    Then the microphone:
    MIC-IN
    MIC-BIAS
There are only two possible ways to connect these plugs to:
    1. AUD_MIC
    3. AUD_MIC_BIAS
Try both ways. One of them is going to work.  [Remember: In order to make this work, you'll need to disable the Automatic Front Panel Jack Detection Function in the Realtek HD Audio Manager.]
    And then the other thing:
    SPKOUT R ---> 5. AUD_FPOUT_R
    RETURN R ---> 6. AUD_RET_R
Same thing for the left channel.  Just this time use:
    9. AUD_FPOUT_L
    10. AUD_RET_L

  • Adobe - why not just release an MSI for every Reader revision???!?!?

Why do Adobe have a policy of publishing an MSI for major Reader releases but only MSP's for revisions?
If Adobe simply published an MSI for every revision (e.g. 11.0.09) it would avoid customers having to slipstream MSPs into MSIs which is a real pain in the backside.
There must be a reason why Adobe have decided to complicate deployment for minor revisions so I'd love to hear what it is.
    Thanks

Howdy. Mostly if an employee shows up in here, it's someone from support and not any of the folks that would need to see this.

    > I've pasted my post from bios to here, as no one took any interest.
Howdie peoples, after checking out the bios revisions on my SLI cards I have found they have different bios revisions. Would this play any part in bad performance?.
    Card one :
    05/18/05
    05.70.02.11.10
    (Purchased this one Sept 05)
    Card two:
    05/12/05
    05.70.02.11.01
(This was purchased Jan 06! and later bought from eBay).
Any input would be great.  biggthumbsup
    Thanks
ps Anyone know where I can get the MSI 7800GTX 512 rear venting fan/heatsink assemblies? (they take up two card slots)

I thought the part number is already on the sticker of the GPU. Gd luck.

  • MSI R5770 HD Hawk - Twin Frozr II

I brought the 5770 Hawk last year to go into my new build system. Finally upgrading from my old dell pentium 4 system (tight budget).
I built the system on an MSI Motherboard (870AG54), with a AMD 555BE cpu (core unlocked & OC to 3.68mhz). I was still using XP Home until this christmas when I was finally able to buy Win7 64bit.
The issue I always seem to have had, is that I seem to get "glitches" all the time when playing games. Initially I only really had Civ5, Sims2 & Far Cry whilst using XP, but even then I Civ5 was almost unplayable at times because of the glitches on the graphics (flashing pixels, missing sections of screen & green dots everywhere). I put this down the the game due to comments I had read about problems with it, and hoped that once I had Win7 it would be ok. But after installing Win7 64bit, the game is still glitchy (although not as bad), and even Football Manager 2012 has lots of glitches in when veiwing matches. I have just brought Skyrim and although it looks great if you stand still (ish), once you move the sreen goes mental with glitches and it ruins that gameplay.
My apologies for my lack of expertise in this field, but whilst I can build and repair systems, I am not an overclocker or really have much experience in graphics card (apart form buying new ones). Can anyone help me out here? Is it my system or the card? Or am I pushing it too hard?
Tend to play games at 1920x1080 w/o AA due to the card not handleing it.
Any help would be gratefully received.
    Thanks

    My system is as follows.
    MSI 870A-G54 AMD 870 (AM3) DDR3 Motherboard
AMD Phenom II 555 Black Edition CPU (Core unlocked to x4 & OC to 3.68mhz)
Western Digital Caviar Black 640gb HDD
    MSI Radeon HD5770 Hawk 1gb GDDR5 PCI-E
    OCZ ModXstream Pro 600w PSU
    4gb DDR3 Crucial Ram (10666)
Built into an Antec 300 case.
    Now running Win7 64bit.

  • Msi K8t Neo Fis2r-revision Differences

Hi everyone,  Ive been trying to get rev 1.1 of the msi k8t neo fis2r  but with no luck. Can anyone tell me the difference between the 1.0 rev and the 1.1 rev.Is it just a bios difference or is there more to it than that.
thankyou for any help,i find this forum most informative.

    Hi Apple Renegade,
Thankyou for your prompt reply.I am fully aware of the 1.0 to 1.1 differences in bios. This tells me [obviously] that there ARE differences but does not tell me if it is tho  ONLY difference between the two version mobo's, that is why i came to this forum where there are people with far more experience and knowledge than myselfd. If the difference is only bios then i have no problems going with the 1.0 version and doinga bios upgrade but if there are more differences then i need to know what they are.     Regards.

  • Just bought MSI R5770 and card looks different than expected

I bought this as an open Box from Fry's today.
When I opened it up, the card looks completely different than the pictures I've seen online.
The label on the back says it is a R5770 PMD1G and the serial number on the label matches the one on the box.  But the fan/heatsink combination is completely different.  The board layout (capacitors, etc) seems to be different as well
I'm especially concerned by the small size of the fan compared to what I was expecting.
Before I install it, I wanted to make sure I actually have the correct card that I paid for.  Here is a link to a pic.

Quote from: Sansfear on 04-May-10, 19:29:16
She slapped a new reduced price sticker on it and assured me that they'd test it to make sure it worked.  I'm willing to bet that if I go back there in a few days, that it will be back on the shelves and still have the wrong card in the box.
I wouldn't expect anything less from them.  It was probably back on the shelf 15 minutes after you walked out.  If its worth anything, I don't buy anything open box.  The small savings isn't worth the hassle.

  • MSI Neo4 F (PCB 3.0) - unstable Vcore ruins oc

    I bought a pretty cheap Neo4 F for a spare/server PC.
    old hardware I added:
    San Diego 3700+ (Rev E3)
    7900GT
    Corsair Value Select DDR400 2x512MB 2.5-3-3-8 1T
    Tagan 480 U-01
reading posts I understand this mobo doesn't allow cmd 1T if used with newer rev E6 cpus ?
4-5 months ago I upgraded my older bro's PC with this "same" mobo, and new rev e6 sandy: 1T/2T was not selectable in BIOS, however mine runs well with 1T pleased with that.
problem: vcore is fluctutating very much. If I set "volt + %" = 1.456v, readout shows 1.392-1.48 and it ruins higher oc.
This cpu I ran [email protected] on DFI Ultra-D for a year, 9hr Prime95 stable, no issues at all (got same PSU)
I rem low rpm case fans connected to mobo can make fluctuation, anything else I could test stabilizing it ?
New case has 2x120mm fans, everything is very cool even under stress.
    oc atm 11x250 (1.42v using %) , 166 divider giving ~DDR394 (2.75v) was ~2hr prime stable
My goal is to set 11x255 so ram gets exactly DDR400. CPU, temps and PSU are OK, just the vcore fluct.
    Currently using shipped BIOS, 07/21/2006
(sig shows my PC from 18 months ago)
edit // I have changed sig to show both current rigs

    Self-test 1024K passed!
ok, Prime95 keeps going on now 11x255/DDR400
changed chipset voltage to 1.55, lowered Trc from bios default 12T to 14T.
Wouldn't post with cas 3, luckily I didn't have to clear cmos: 3-5 attempts and it posted @ 200FSB.
    Prime 95 @ 15mins and counting...
Thx for a good board MSI ! It's a real good one !
EDIT // fixed sig, shows both current rigs
50mins and still going on, CPU temp 42C (Core 50C), NB is 44C. NEVER have I been pleased with oc in so short time ! usually takes 2-3 months, and maybe purchase of other ram etc, but this nailed it in one day ! I simply can't ask for more of this mobo.
    EDIT 2 //
    EDIT 2//
Prime95 been up 1 hr, 23mins accorind to taskbar, and prime95 gave an error: Test ran 28939 hours ! LOL ...date was set to 2003 when I finally got past post, found out after I started prime and changed to current date/time. I don't care, got som many apps running, surfing etc. Rig is OK

  • What manual?

Hi... I'm a newbie, so don't shoot me immediately.
Just bought and installed a MSI R5770 PM2D1G video to replace my ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro which was intermittently causing the screen to break up (or so I thought - I doubt it was the card now). But anyway...
The two "manuals" that came with the R5770 card are heavy on how to physically install it (something almost anyone can do) and WHAT it can do, and VERY LIGHT on how to get it to do it (something that FEW can do)! This is a consumer retail package - not an OEM for professionals. Why the heck are the various features and capabilities of the card not explained so the non-professional can understand them?  I'm no geek - I'm over 70 - but I'm not completely ignorant either - been building and using computers for 30 years! I don't want to play games or overclock - just have a nice, solid, fast, high quality video system for Photoshop, Lightroom, ProShow slideshows.
There is no user manual on the CD that came with it and nothing available but the "light" quick install pdf online - same as came with the card. An example of my problem is this: The "Enabling HDMI Output" few lines in the "R5700 Series "manual"" tells me to find the "DVI-to-HDMI adapter" and hook it up. Why should I do that when THE CARD HAS AN HDMI OUT connection and my monitor has an HDMI IN connector. All I get is a blank screen with these two connected and my monitor switched to HDMI in. Why no explanation of SPECIFICALLY how and what to hook up to the various ports on the card? Why all the mystery?
    Thanks for letting me grumble...

    Thanks, Stu, for your views.
I agree. If I knew nothing about computers whatever trouble I got into by messing around inside them would be my own fault.
But I have much more than a "rudimentary knowledge" of computers - I was in my own computer building, sales, supply and training business for 10 years (1987-1997). And I've built and used quite a few in the 12 years since then. I realize the technology moves on faster than copulating rabbits and that keeping up with the changes is almost a 24/7 job.
It is the manufacturers who are making these rapid fire changes. For them to expect the average Joe end-user to have intimate knowledge of the latest technology when they themselves refuse/neglect/can't be bothered to put even a token effort into providing that knowledge is unreasonable and unfair, in my opinion. If they're selling to "end users" they must know they're not dealing with technicians! And it's not as if THEY'RE doing ME a favour out of the goodness of their hearts by selling me the part. I pay big, retail bucks for it so pardon me for expecting to at least have access to complete and accurate technical data on the care and feeding of that part.
I'm more than willing to put in the effort to learn - but I can't learn what isn't available to learn. Imagine my disappointment and astonishment when, just an hour ago, MY SCREEN STARTED BREAKING UP AGAIN! Brand new power supply. Brand new MSI graphics card. Nearly new computer system on APC conditioned AC power. But there clearly is a fundamental incompatibility between something (likely drivers) and NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT (or if they do they're not telling me). The system works perfectly one day and not the next. It's not heat - there's enough fans blowing out the back end to move the case if was on wheels! So I just uninstalled the HP software and drivers for the monitor, and once again I seem to have a stable system.
Of course, I still haven't figured out where the Catalyst "Express" installation went when I installed it yesterday - the video driver is installed but I can't find any sign of the Catalyst software anywhere. Just one darned glitch after another with ATI/MSI.
I assume in your line of work there most often is a SPECIFIC PART for a SPECIFIC VEHICLE. No incompatibilities. No getting those brake pads home only to find out they don't fit or that they fell out on the ground the first time a foot hit the pedal.
What I wouldn't give if that was the case with computers. Every Tom-:censored:-Harry in far off lands is pumping out a card-a-day that THEY KNOW are going to be incompatible with a good whack of machines but NOT A WORD is stated anywhere I can see to warn the customer. For example, you can't find out from ASUS which graphic cards work well with their motherboards, and you can't find out from MSI which systems their cards work best in, or better still, which monitor/card combinations provide the best results. Why don't they tell us? What kind of racket has this computer business become? To answer my own question: they don't tell us likely because they can't be bothered to test their products themselves. Why should they? They have millions of suckers like me who'll spend hours-days-weeks beta testing/troubleshooting their products for them!
I would have NO COMPLAINTS if whoever is selling me a computer part (eg NewEgg or dozens of other "parts distributors") even bothered to ask. But they don't. Why? Because damned few of the "parts salespeople" have a CLUE how to install and set it up either, or if they do, they don't know what to do if it doesn't work. All they know is what it says on the box which means, because I can read too, that I know as much about it as they do! And that's just not good enough as far as I'm concerned - not when I'm paying big bucks for the product. Even that wouldn't be so bad if what was printed on the box was accurate - but quite often it's wrong too!
I'm not faulting (too much) the sales people. It's a rare thing these days to find anyone behind a retail counter who takes their job seriously enough to bother learning much about the products they're selling. I think most of them think they're just there to ring up the sale - and even that's a chore for many of them. They think being asked to actually deal with a customer wastes their time! The companies and their employees who CLEARLY UNDERSTAND that they have jobs ONLY because they have customers, already know that it's giving customers what they want and need that keeps them in business. Which is harder and would make your life more miserable? To take a few minutes in explanation to PREVENT problems or to take the time required to deal with a dissatisfied and angry customer? Remember the age-old question: "If you haven't got the time to do it right when are you going to find the time to do it over?"
Anyway, thanks for letting me grumble. If there was a qualified computer technician I'd trust anywhere within a hundred kilometers of me I'd deal with him/her. But there isn't that I know of - I'm in the sticks and on my own.
