MSI R6850 Cyclone: No Video Out

Hello, very new to board, I will try to be complete with information...
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 MB
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650
Intel Core i3 2120
I built the system, had everything working, put it on the shelf to wait for some parts and when I started a week later, up I got no video out from card. I get video out from mainboard through HDMI (Intel HD2000) but I cant get video card to respond. Replaced Mainboard and still have same results (or lack of results). I tried card on an old P5K-E with Core2 Duo, but am not sure about my PSU and mainboard config I got a video card error (bios beeps) on the P5K-E.
What is weird is that everything was working great and then nothing after doing nothing special to system in the interim. I hooked up mainboard headers and that is it. To test I removed all mainboard headers except power sw and still nothing. Any suggestions? Cards don't normally just go bad do they? I appreciate your help and can give more info if necessary.

Cards don't normally just go bad do they?
Usually not.  But if you can confirm that the card does not work with proper power supply in another system and the issue remains the same even though you replaced the mainboard and tested all its PCI-E x16 slots, then it somehow got damaged against all likelyhood.  Who knows: Perhaps there was some sort of static discharge at some point that broke something.
Another video card works fine in your system?
If that is the case, I would suggest you get the card RMAed as fast as possible in order to get a replacement as soon as possible.

  • MSI R6850 Cyclone PE/OC No signal, loud fan

I bought an R6850 Cyclone PE/OC and installed it. The first time I booted I got video but my computer froze (I thought, now it seems it just takes a very very long time to POST when I had the DVD drive connected) so I turned it off. The next time I booted (after disconnecting the DVD drive) there was no video and the fan on the card went at full speed but it would boot into Windows.
At first I thought it was a PSU issue so I changed to a better one (XFX 550W) but it is still the same. I tried with my old card and it works just fine. I've also tried clearing the CMOS, reseated the card, made sure the 6 pin power cable was connected, different DVI outputs but still no video.
    My specs are:
    Motherboard: Acer MCP73VE
    BIOS: American Megatrends R01-C2
    CPU: Intel Core2Duo E4700 2.6ghz
    Memory: 2x1GB DDR2-800
    GPU: MSI R6850 Cyclone PE/OC
HDD: 500gb WD IDE, 320gb Seagate SATA, 80gb Seagate IDE
    OS: Windows XP Pro 32bit
    PSU: XFX 550W Core Edition +12V~44A, +5V~24A, +3.3V~24A

Ok, i'm on another PC now and the card is working fine. It must not like the chipset on my old motherboard or something.
Anyways, the only issues i'm having now are stuttering with some games but I think I can fix that by updating Catalyst.

  • MSI R6850 cyclone fake advertisement

    Hello.
I bought a MSI R6850 cyclone power edition OC and before doing that, several websites (related directly with MSI) said that I would get a free copy of the game DIRT 3. That was one of the reasons why I bought this card, and I feel pretty disappointed with that because I haven't found the way to receive that game so far.
I changed from Sapphire to MSI because of the great reviews I found about MSI products on guru3D.com, and when Sapphire promised me a free copy of DIRT 2 years ago they kept their word.

    Thanks for reading.
Please excuse me for my broken English, I'm still learning it.

*Due to regional differences in product and inventory, other application(s) may be bundled with MSI graphics cards. When making a purchase, be sure to select a MSI graphics card box with a "DiRT 3" sticker attached to ensure that the full game activation code for " DiRT 3" is included.
What I put in above is at the very bottom of the MSI news media link you posted.
You got one (older stock) without the sticker on the box or the offer simply is not available where you live.
You need to ask the people at the store where you purchased the card.
     No fake/false advertising at all.

  • MSI R6850 Cyclone edition displaying nothing on screen

Hi all. Just got my R6850 today and plugged it into my computer got everything connected but when i turn my computer on my Monitor just says "DVI Power saving mode". Ive tried the DVI to VGA adapter but still nothing and my HDMI cable wont go into the HDMI slot on the card. Ive checked the cables and tried taking it out and putting it back in to hope its fixed but still nothing.I did a search on these forums and there was a thread saying it was something wrong with the card but that was back in February and im guessing they would of fixed that. Any help would be awesome as im kinda annoyed its not working. By the way when my monitor says "Power saving mode" thats when there is something connected but theres no picture coming up on the screen.

Ok sorry ill try and make this more detailed.

  • MSI GeForce 3 Ti200 video out freezes

    Hi!
I was testing the composite video and s-video out connectors. In my properties for the GeForce card i can choose between s-video and composite video, but they aren't automatically discovered as connected when pressing that button.
However when i press apply after choosing composite video, my monitor goes black, but i get no signal to my TV. My computer totally stops responding not even ctrl+alt+del will help. I have to press the reset button.
I downloaded TV-tool which i saw someone mentioned in this forum. It works flawlessly using TV tool using composite video(it takes sometime to switch between the monitor and tv but it works).
So as i understand it MSI's drivers or tool for switching between Monitor/video is broken. I have downloaded the latest drivers and tolls with MSI Live update 3, but it still doesn't work.
I'll be damned if i have to purchase a third party product for something that should work out of the box. I mailed MSI support about this and was directed to this forum, so i wonder if anybody else has this problem and found another solution than TV-tool?
I'm running Windows XP with the latest drivers.
    Mats

Judging from the problems I and several other people on the forum have mentioned, there seems to be a problem with the nVidia 45.23 drivers and video. I get a grey screen with vids unless i turn down the hardware accel to almost nothing. Other people can get vid to show on their tv out. So if you havn't tried an older driver version yet, maybe you could use the good old xp driver rollback in the video device properties.

  • R6850 Cyclone OC Edition is causing Crash Problem !!

Using R6850 Cyclone OC Edition for my PC with configuration as below, got all the drivers up to date, and BIOS updated too. But each time I am using my PC normally for video watching or you tube, my PC crashes !!!! with a Black screen and nothing more. !
In-order to validate my doubt, I swapped the VGA input port of monitor to my default Intel VGA out port, and removed the power connector cables connected to the Gcard. It didnt crash at all. Hence after that I did some research and found out many people had there share of similar problems and were solved by changing their PSU. Please suggest me the solution, weather its a PSU or Gcard Problem. I have already RMAed my Gcard for the problem for the third time !!
Also, while surfing a webpage, I got a pixelated screen, and then my PC restarted. But the the surprising thing is it never crashes when I am playing games !!! Although it flickers randomly most of the times.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Here is my PC info:
    Intel Desktop Board DG41RQ
    MSI R6850 Cyclone OC edition
    cooler master RS-460-pcar-D3
    4gb DDR2 Memory
    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
    AMD catalyst 13.1
PS: I did run those tests with funmark and Prime95, with no crashes.

can you test the card in another PC to isolate the problem?
have you tried msi vga drivers for your card?

  • MSI 4890 Cyclone - Computer Reboots With Crossfire Upon Game Startup

    Hello,
I built a new computer back last December of 2009 and have been using an MSI 4890 Cyclone graphics card. I am using Windows 7 and have been able to play all video games pretty much with maxed out settings without any issues. A buddy of mine has pretty much the same exact setup I have, but wanted to get a new video card. I decided I wanted to try out the crossfire capabilities and ended up putting his MSI 4890 Cyclone in my box to crossfire with my 4890 the other day.
Everything seems to be setup correctly and the crossfire shows as enabled in my CCC. The issue I am having is that any game I load up with crossfire enabled running with both 4890s causes my computer to instantly reboot. I've disabled crossfire and the games run fine. I also tested both 4890 cards by themselves just to verfiy that there isn't an issue with either card and they both tested just fine.
I don't think there is a heat issue because my computer always reboots at the same exact spot when I load up the game. I also tested other games and the same exact thing happens right upon startup. Any ideas? If you need any additional info from me, please let me know. Any help is much appreciated and thank you in advance!
Here is what I am running:

Please test with one memory modules only and manually set the DRAM Speed to DDR2-800 and the DRAM Voltage to 1.9V.  Then retest.
In case that does not change anything, please try a different PSU.
Also, please contact ASUS Support and ask for information about ANY kind of problems regarding Crossfire combinations on this mainboard.
I highly doubt, that this issue has anything to do with the two video cards in particular.  To properly "engage" these two video cards in crossfire is first and foremost the job of the mainboard/chipset and the respective BIOS Support for this operation mode. As long as both cards are identical* have no internal malfunction and the crossfire bridge is 100% functional, this looks like a mainboard/chipset, BIOS, PSU, OS or driver issue.
*Please compare the VBIOS Versions of the two cards.  This is the only thing I can think of that could interfere with proper CF operation.  In all other cases, you should look elsewhere first.

  • MSI R6850 PM2D1GD5 Short Test

Here is my short quick test for the MSI R6850 PM2D1GD5 and my share for the peeps in this forum.
The videocard’s box is pretty the same with MSI’s 6870 model. Plain and simple but what really stands out for this particular 6850 is its custom cooler. It has two direct heatpipes that dissipates heat straight from the GPU Chip and the fan size used for the cooler is 9cm. Downloading the latest Afterburner in the net will makes this video card perform at par with 6870. Thus, will give end user better value for their money.

I've tried two different monitors; both automatically switching/sensing to the input.  I've also tried to do it manually, but still have the same outcome.

  • MSI R4890 Cyclone Artifacts (not solved yet)

I´ve recently bought my new pc to replace my 6 years old previous System
    System:
CPU AMD Phenom II X3 [email protected] (stock)
    MSI 790GX-G65
    2x1GB mushkin Ascent DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) @ 800MHz
    MSI R4890 Cyclone OC @ 880MHz (Stock)
    Western Digital RE3 WD2502ABYS-01B7A0 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
PSU Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500W
    Windows XPSP2
I have used it for two days w/o problems using Crysis at 1024x768 AA2x maxed out at more than 40fps
And played a moded Homeworld 2 with barely unlimited unit capping and 3 AI players in 2 battles of 60 minutes each.
but the third time my screen messed up with a white boxes grid (almost like a over heated video card), so I turned my PC off and Checked the Card temp but it was ok, so let it rest and after 2 hours tried again with another game (Because I think it could be a bug from my moded game) And I tried with NFS Pro Street 1024x768 AA8x Maxed out, and it runs well for 15 minutes and the screen messed like in homeworld, I tried to use it under those conditions for aditional 10 minutes and it runs fast but with the screen messed, so I restart it and did the same from the startup in the windows logo, but if i let it rest for a long time works well for some time like an hour or two.
What could be causing it, May be The PSU limited power?

    Thanks for the advice.
Today, I have finally found a computer where i could test it, and it worked with little problems because of the PSU, but not the same problems that I had, I've managed to test Unreal 3 with all the advanced settings maxed and it ran very well but, when I tested in NFS Prostreet and maxed all the settings that PC reset itself (like an energy failure, because all the fans have speed down),
    These were its specs:
    Processor: Pentium 4 @2.8Ghz
    Mainboard: ECS G31T-M7
    Memory: SuperTalent T800UB2GV @800Mhz
    PSU: Anlix ATX450T4 450W
    OS: Windows XPSP2
I think other tings are not worth to mention, but why with those poor specs, My card was able to start with no problems.
Maybe is something wrong with my Mainboard or something like that?
EDIT: I've found it was a drivers Issue, I remember that I have updated my drivers a week from the installation when the problems started, When I used the the last video card drivers and the card reach it max speed artifacts started to appear in the screen, but I changed them for the ones that came in the CD.
I'm not sure exactly what drivers where those who started the problems, maybe those where from ATI and not from the MSI page, but I would want to know what drivers are recommended for my GFX card.
Thanks for all the help you gave me, you were very useful.
EDIT2: It is no driver problems, it still have the problem *sigh*...
I think I will have to do what ZSDE recommended, but I will need to be lucky to get to the OS, the VPU is restarting the video card multiple times because, it says that the video card is not responding successfully to the it.

like the grayone say, is true. for more ensure, try and search the graphic cards support list for your board at MSI (Sorry cause i don,t no is  where the site located)
in my opinion, most is compability for your card, when is a AGP slot.
Except the new one like the AGP slot, call AGR( Accelaration Graphic Riser slot) that really need to find a compatibility graphic cards.....

  • 785GM-E65 and video out

I am looking for an analog video out solution for this mobo. I bought a VGA to component video cable and that gets me an output with jiberish. I'm aiming for s-video or component. I read that some mobo's support s-video out through the VGA port. Does anyone know if MSI has included this feature on this mobo? I have not found any materials that indicate one way or the other.
    Thanks for the help.

This board doesn't support that kind of video output. You could get a video card with super video out or get something like this converter.

  • MSI NX6200AX-TD256H S-Video output only

I have bought MSI NX6200AX-TD256H card. I wasn't able to switch it to the composite video TV out mode, as I was used to in previous models ( the driver offers just S-Video, Automatic and Component modes). So does this card really lack the composite video out or is it perhaps broken? Thank you.

Have you checked the resolution/TV type in the Displays preference pane once the TV is connected? If your PB is detecting your TV as PAL rather than NTSC (or vice versa), that could certainly cause a loss of colour like you describe.

  • FX5900 Problems with S-video out

I've been trying to get a signal to my miniDV video camera, Cannon Optura PI, through S-video cable. Here's what happens:
    1. Monitor connected to VGA, Camera to S-video out - Camera goes black when windows loads.
    2. Camera only connected to S-video out - It works fine on camera, full color.
    3. Leave camera plugged in, reconnect monitor to VGA - Now monitor goes black when windows loads.
How can I get both the camera and the monitor to work at the same time?
As a test I hooked an LCD projector to the DVI out. I was able to get the projector and the monitor to work simultaneously. S-Video wouldn't work at all with the projector.
I've used MSI live update to ensure all my drivers/bios are current.

I bought two of those cards on eBay when I was looking for a second Video Card for some Video Editing systems.
The largest chip in the Component side of this PCI-slot card has the ATI-3D logo, and characters below call it RAGE LT PRO AGP. A chip nearby has a paper label that says: LTP 328 and 54104. PN 109-54100-00 is silk screened next to the ATI logo on the corner.
There is also a 20-pin rectangular connector labeled "DEF". I have never seen display gear that plugged into that. Any ideas what that one is?
These cards worked great (off the VGA connector) in Mac OS 9, But OS X 10.3.9 would not deal with them except in 256-color mode.
