MSI R6950 TWIN FROZER 3 PE OC IS FLASHABLE!!!

OK, HERE IS THE SKIVY, THE MSI R6950 TWIN FROZER 3 PE OC 2GIG, DOES UNLOCK, I FLASHED THE CARD WITH SUPPLIED BIOS FROM MSI, R6950PEX.BIN IT UNLOCKS ALL, VOLTAGE CORE, OVERCLOCK, ETC.  I DID NOT SEE ANY CHANGE HOWEVER IN THE SHADERS, MY GPU-Z IS THE UP TO DATE VERSION. SO NOT SURE IF THEY UNLOCK OR NOT.
I ALSO PURPOSELY FLASHED A 6970 BIOS, ON THE CARD AS WELL // CRASHED IT. FLICKED THE **BIOS SWITCH** & BOOM IT BOOTS UP NO PROBLEM. THE BIOS ON THESE CARDS ALSO HAS FAN PROFILES IN THEM //  IN WINDOWS, RUNNING, I SWITCHED IT BACK, & REFLASHED THE ORIGINAL BIOS OVER THE 6970 BIOS.....SO FAR EVERYTHING WORKS  AWESOME // GREAT DESIGN HERE....THIS IS MY FIRST RADEON BASED CARD IN LIKE 15 YEARS // GONNA PLAY SOME MORE & I WILL REPOST WHEN I FIGURE OUT THE SHADERS.........
WIN7 X64 ULTIMATE // MOBO GIGABYTE SNIPER / i7 970 / 12 GIG CORSAIR VENGANCE / OCZ REVO X2 240 GIG / 500 GIG RAPOR 10,000 RPM
MSI R6950 TWIN FROZER 3 PE OC 2GIG / CASE 3D AURORA, GONNA HAVE TO CUT THE HARD DRIVE BAY, IF THESE CARDS GET ANY BIGGER!

Please do not use all capitol letters, it is akin to shouting and not proper on this forum.
I'm not 100% sure about AMD/ATI being the same but newer NVIDIA based cards the shaders are permanently locked to GPU and can not be set separately and I'm pretty sure AMD/ATI is the same. The last VGA I had that I could unlock shaders was 260 GTX.
Edit: OK, I read you replies in that other thread you posted in and you apparently already know that so not sure why you started this topic.

  • MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III PE/OC "No Signal"?

    Hi guys!
I've just bought the MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III PE/OC, but my monitor dosent recieve any signal at all. Both power cables are plugged in, and my PSU should be big enough to manage it.
The slot works fine with my old card, a HD 5450, so is my card faulty?
    Win 7 32 bit
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H55M USB3 rev 2.0
    Proccesor: Intel Core i5 2.80
    PSU: OCZ600MXSP 600W
    Memory: 4GB

The card has two power cables, which both are plugged in. If not, a red LED lights up in the card.
I've just removed the power cable form the mobo and removed the battery from the mobo to do a clear CMOS, but unfortunately with the same results. The fans are running, but my screens says "No Cable" and goes completely black

  • MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III PE strange heat issue!

Hi guys, yesterday i've decided to upgrade my PC with brand new Sandy Bridge configuration, but after the first boot i've had a very unpleasant surprize with my VGA card .Right after power on my PC everything went good, display was on and showing the Bios Setup screen, but after 30-40 seconds my the VGA fans started to spin at full speed and restarted the system but after that my 40" lcd display was only showing  "no signal detected" .From this point i've tried everything to get my system going,i've disabled the onboard VGA,swapped RAM modules, toggle every PCI and PCI-E add-on cards, bios reset but the issue was still there.
A couple of times i've managed to get into Windows OS but after 10 second the PC restarted again.I'm not really sure what's the issue here but i do noticed that after 10 second from boot the VGA card is getting very hot (can touch it only for 1 second) but only in the area near the power connectors, next to the capacitors...
    Here's my configuration:
    - CPU: Intel i5 2500K
    - MoBo: Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
    - RAM: Corsaire Vengence 8GB (2x4GB) DDR 1866
    - PSU: Enermax Liberty 620 W
    - VGA: MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III PE
    - Case: Cooler Master HAF-X
BTW,my old MSI Radeon HD4870 is working with the above configuration and i also tested the MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III PE on 3 different PCs same had same issue,so if you guys have any idea about this issue please post here.

Yeah,i've already compiled the RMA form with the retailer but it doesn't have this VGA in stock anymore.I really hope it won't need months for the RMA procedure.

  • MSI R6950 Twin Forza II/OC crash

    Hello there,
I recently bought an MSI R6950 Twin Forza II/OC and I've been experiencing some problems ever since. The first time I run each game (Crysis 2, Assasins Creed 2, Far Cry, Prototype...) the menus work ok but when I am going to actually start playing my LCD display says there is no video signal, then the signal comes back, the system goes back to Windows and one of the following things happen:
    a) It goes back to the game but the game freezes and I have to kill it's process
    b) Windows says the graphics card has failed but it recovered and the game closes by itself
    c) Windows says the application has produced an error and closes it
The second time I try the same game it works normally. It happens with each game I try in a row. 2D games like Super Meat Boy and Terraria always work.
My computer has the following specs:
    Asus Sabertooth P67 Rev 3.0
    Intel i7-2600 (Sandy Bridge)
    Corsair GS800 PSU
    8GB RAM DDR3 1333MHz
    Windows 7 Professional x64
I tried with two different displays, I reinstalled Windows 7 and tried with just the essential drivers and software and the same happens. I also tried with the included CD drivers, the drivers from your site and the official AMD/ATI drivers, even cleaning with Driver Sweeper just in case.
Thanks in advance for your help

...then go into the AMD Vision Engine Control Centre along the left hand side, look for "My Digital Flat-Panels" click this and in the new options find "Scaling Options (Digital Flat-Panel)", move the slider right till it says 0% and this should fix the issue. Good luck!

  • Two displays for MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC graphics card ?

Is it possible to have two displays simultaneously connected to this graphics card:
    http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R6950-Twin-Frozr-III-Power-Edition-OC.html#?div=Overview
The card has two DVI-outputs "DVI Output: 2 (Single-Link DVI-D x1, Dual-Link DVI-I x1)".  I can use one display at a time and the second display only shows "No signal" error. I would like to use two displays when playing PC games, is it possible with this craphics card? Both my displays have VGA connector cables, and they are connected to the card with an VGA/DVI adapter.

what monitors you are using and what resolutions you're trying to use?
Both monitors are old models: 1) Panasonic PanaFlat PF90 2) acer AL 707.
I'm not sure what resolution I was using on acer when I tried to connect both monitors, but now I'm using PanaFLat with 1280 x 1024. Maybe I should try to set them both on 1024 x 768 and try again.

  • MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition – Replacement Heat Sink?

    Hello,
Does anyone know of a good 3rd party heat sink that will definitely fit this non reference card? We all know that manufactures such has Artic, Thermalright and Prolimatech make such heat sinks, but of course they are for reference cards. I'm sure you can understand that I don't want to make any expensive mistakes!
    Thanks,
    Krutish.

    Thanks for the reply flobelix.
My main concern was the amount of decibels this card produced when pushed, not its thermal properties. Under high stress the card would peak at 80-85c with a fan speed of anywhere around 80-100%. Normal gaming temps would be around 65c-75c depending on game, or gaming environment, with matching fan speeds. That is why I was looking for a replacement, the temps  were within the manufactures tolerances, even if a little high, but the db's were well outside of  mine!
However, the situation as changed somewhat. While messing around inside the case trying to improve airflow I accidentally touched the heat-sink assembly, and upon doing so the fan instantly roared to 100% and the temps started to shoot up. I wiggled the assembly again and the fan and temps dropped back! So it seemed like the heat-sink was lose! I removed the card and tightened the screws a little, this solved the problem in regards to the temp/fan shooting up, but the temps were still high!
The next step was to completely remove the heat-sink, give it a good clean and replace the thermal compound in the hope that this would solve the noise/heat problem. It was at this point that I spotted the problem! The GPU was absolutely caked in thermal compound, so much so that all of the resistors around the GPU were also covered in thermal grease, (Don't these guys know less is better?) good job they hadn't used a metal based thermal compound, that could have wrecked the card!
Anyway, I removed the mess and used TIM-clean to dissolve what was left and finished the clean up with isopropanol. I applied a small amount of compound, replaced the heat-sink and Bobs your uncle! Max loads so far, GPU 64c – Fan speed 55%... That I can live with!
So there you have it, this card as been noisy and running hot from the day I brought it, but I didn’t know any better, I've never seen or heard a MSI R6950 in action before, now I have!
    Made In China. (Sad Face)
    Krutish
Oh almost forgot... i heard off Artic, they recommend the Twin Turbo II, Xtreme II or the Xtreme III for this card!

  • MSI 7850 Twin Frozer issue

Can anyone help me with my current issue.
My system runs perfectly and will stay up with no issues if I do not run any games.  However if I run any games the graphics card seems to stop responding correctly, system does not shut down so no errors in the Event logs.  Need to restart machine manually before able to view screen correctly again.
Sometimes the system may run for a couple days without causing any issues while playing games but once it does it normal happens after about 10-15 mins playing a game.
Screen just goes into either a multicoloured mode or one straight colour.  Which is annoying.
I have latest ATI drivers installed - reinstalled OS.  Even disabled the HDMI sound within Computer management which has helped a bit but not resolved issue.  I have paid a fair bit of cash for this card and do not really want to buy another card.  I also do not have a second machine I can move card to or different Video card to try in my system.
All help would be gratefully received.
    System Setup:
    Main Board:  Asus P9X79
    CPU: i7 3820 @ 3.60GHz (8CPUs)
Video: MSI 7850 2GB Twin Frozer
    Memory: 32GB (a little overkill)
    PSU: Toughpower XT 875W
HDD: System (OCZ Vortex 120); 2 x 1TB Western Digital
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

    Hi Svet,
No I don't have any OC applied.
And I dont have access to another PC to try.
The issue is very hit and miss.  Just seems to be very strange.  System still seems to be running in the background just unable to see the screen.  Running games in 32 bit seems to work for a while then will do the same thing.  At the moment the system has been stable for the last 4 days.

  • MSI GTX 480 Twin Frozer Relase.

    Hi.
I have waiting long time to buy new vga card. I thinking buy MSI 5870 Twin Frozer 2.
I like GeForce, and my question is about relase to MSI Geforce 480 Twin Frozer, (military Class).
     Europe and Norway relase..
My card today is, MSI GeForce 7800 GT. Very Good.

We're all users here, yes even us moderators and none of us work for MSI so we have no way of knowing what release dates would be for anything. I can only give my usual answer for questions like yours, " When you see them advertised at the stores". Also in practice estimated release dates don't amount to much as they seldom are very accurate.

If you want to ask if you can use TV273MH.150 then no you need TV273MH.111. Neither the gpu-z readout nor screenshot would be helpful without the S/N by the way as those do NOT readout the actual bios version.
    Now use attached TV273MH.111.
