Good day.
My S/N 602-V281-08SC1304041807
My BIOS in attachment. Please send me a UEFI / GOP Vbios.Could just locate the attached normal vbios (there is no "LN1" by the way, LN2 stands for Liquid nitrogen which can be used for cooling with most extreme oc).
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0).
Then unpack the provided archive (130.rar) and put the included file (TV281MH.130) on that stick.
Rename TV281MH.130 to 130.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also included in the archive on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 130.rom [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios. -

2 x R7870 Hawk with MSI Z77A-GD65 MB in CrossFire Crashes
Hi,
I can't get Corssfire to work, as soon as an app tries to use 3D the system hard crashes, blue screens or reboots.
When I load GPU-Z the system freezes.
My system config is:
Windows 7 64 Bit
Intel Core i7-3770K
8 GB RAM
180GB INTEL SSD
MSI Z77A-GD65 MB with Bios version 10.5
2 x MSI R7870 Hawk in CF
1000 watt OCZ power supply
- Each card on its own works fine.
- I have lowered the clock speed to spec (1000Mhz)
- Using ATI Catalyst 12.8
- Cards are installed on PCI_E2 & PCI_E5 slots
- No monitors are connected to second GPU
This is a fresh system, no other drivers have been installed.
Anybody else have this problem?
Motherboard and 2 Graphics cards are all MSI.
What is the best way to uninstall ATI Catalyst so I can try older drivers?
Are the drivers ATI drivers on MSI website different to the ones on AMD's website?Use >>Driver Fusion<< in Safe Mode to remove current VGA drivers.
Then install the latest drivers from MSI: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R7870-Hawk.html#/?div=Driver&os=All
Try again
MSI drivers are verified for the MSI product they are offered for. -

[BIOS REQUEST] MSI 270X Hawk 2GB
Hi! I have a problem with a newly purchased MSI 270X Hawk 2GB. I have tried it in the following PCs:
PC 1
Main Board: Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
Bios Version: 2.30 (newest)
Video Card: MSI 270X Hawk 2GB
PSU: FSP ATX-400PNF
12v rail Rating of listed PSU: 12V1: 18A, 12V2: 18A
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz
Memory: 2 x KINGSTON 8GB HyperX XMP Blu DDR3 1600MHz CL9 [KHX1600C9D3B1K2/8GX]
SSD: Samsung 830 64GB (Tried with a Samsung HD502HJ HDD too, on a fresh Windows 7 install, same results)
CPU COOLER: Cooler Master Hyper TX2
OC: No
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit
PC 2
Main Board: Gigabyte G41M-ES2L
Bios Version: F3
Video Card: MSI 270X Hawk 2GB
PSU: FSP ATX-350PNF
12v rail Rating of listed PSU: 12V1: 18A, 12V2: 16A
CPU: Intel Pentium E5300 2.6GHz
Memory: 2 x 2GB Kingmax DDR2 1066MHz [KLEE88F-B8NU6]
SSD/ HDD: Samsung HD321KJ
CPU COOLER: stock
OC: No
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit
GPU S/N: 602-V303-02SB1312000115
It works with the default windows driver in both PCs, but when the AMD driver is installed it fails after the windows welcome screen. Sometimes the screen turns blue, sometimes black/grey, and sometimes there are blue squares in lines on the screen and the PC freezes up. To get it to work again I have to boot into safe mode and remove the driver with Display Driver Uninstaller, since the normal uninstaller doesnt work in safe mode.
Drivers I tried:
13-12_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql
amd_catalyst_14.1_betav1.6
MSI Graphics Driver (both from the CD and the website)
Tried with both BIOS modes. Tried in both PCI-E slots in the asrock board. The 6 pin power connectors are split between the two rails.
I also have an MSI 270X Gaming 2GB, and it works in both PCs without issues. The previous owner updated the BIOS on that one.
I know that the PSUs are far from optimal, but they had no problems with the 270X Gaming on full load or my previous GTX275, even when I overclocked the CPU and had 4/5 hard drives in there. The PSU upgrade (XFX Pro 850W) is on its way, but it is still around a week or more until it arrives.
Here is the current bios:

I would like to try flashing the newest bios to see if it helps.

MSI R7870 2GD5T/OC Uncontrollable/Loud Fan
Hi,
Yesterday I purchased an R7870 2GD5T/OC from a local retailer. I installed it and everything seemed fine, until I started gaming. Under load, the fans spin up to 4000+ rpm, even though the temperature sits around 50-55 degrees. It's incredibly loud and I'm afraid of wearing the fans down quickly.
I tried using Afterburner and CCC to manually adjust the fan speed. This works when the card is idling; however under load the card ignores all settings and hits 4000+ rpm. And while the tachometer in Afterburner shows the card spinning at 4000+ rpm, the Fan speed still indicates it at 40% speed (or anything I change it to).
I have so far re-installed drivers (with drivesweeper), rolled back drivers, re-installed Afterburner, and tested the card in another system. The problem persists, and there seems to be nothing I can do. I also tried running an old 6850 on my system, which runs fine, so I'm sure the software is not an issue.
As suggested in another thread, the problem might be caused by something in the BIOS. I have already flashed the BIOS once, however the problem still exists.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Cheers,MOBO: Gigabyte P55A-UD4P P55 1156pin USB3 DDR3 Motherboard
Bios: Version F9
VGA: MSI R7870 2GD5T/OC
PSU: Antec TruePower TP-650Watt (54a 12v rail)
CPU: Intel Core i5-760 Lynnfield 2.8Ghz LGA1156 CPU
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 1333 4x2gb F3-10666CL9-2GBRL
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1tb
HSAF: Coolermaster Hyper 212+ CPU cooler
OS: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium
No overclocking.
And yes, I did try the card in another system, and the same problem occurred - The fan would speed up to full, and become uncontrollable under load.
I also tried a HD6850 in my current system, and it ran completely fine.
This is what Afterburner shows when the card is under load. -

AMD Power Play states are glitchy, and not all videos detect and run with DirectX Video Acceleration. So max power during playback can end up on the highest power state which is not shown above.
MSI R5770 Hawk minimum power
The uP6204 power controller used on the MSI R5770 Hawk design nominally supports 0.5625 to 1.3500V in 0.0125V steps.
With a stock video BIOS, MSI Afterburner 1.50/1.51 allows the MSI R5770 Hawk to be soft-modded from 1.000 to 1.350V in the roughly 0.0125V steps.
The video BIOS can be set as low as 0.950V but with no steps between 0.950 and 1.000V.
MSI Afterburner 1.60 beta 4 or earlier adds the AllowCaptureVoltageDefaults profile setting. Acquiring, then changing the default GPU voltage allows "resetting" the Hawk to 0.950V in Afterburner for the highest frequency state. This allows maintaining Power Play transitions and running the max frequency at 0.950V, where Afterburner by itself is limited to 1.000V.
The max frequency state of the Hawk is 875 MHz 1200 MHz 1.200V. To have the most flexibilty on control the Hawk, lowest power in the Desktop/HTPC/light gaming, and the ability to manually overvolt/overclock for specific games: run the Hawk at 0.950V in the max frequency state.
How-to work around Afterburner and the Hawk design to run 1.000V in the max frequency state. *
1) in the video BIOS, leave the voltage as 1.200V in the BIOS--which is required for Afterburner to change the Hawk voltages in Windows
2) in the video BIOS, change the GPU frequency of that state to something less than or equal to the maximum stable frequency at 1.000V
3) in Afterburner, Reset to default settings **
4) in Afterburner, change "Core Voltage" to 1.000V
5) in Afterburner, Apply
6) in Afterburner, Save to Profile 1
7) in Afterburner, \Settings\Profiles\2D Profile\ & "3D Profile" choose "Profile 1" ***
8) on each Windows startup, run Afterburner

4) in notepad as an Administrator (Win 6.x), change the Hawk's profile configuration file to 0.950V
example:
[Settings]
uP6204_Defaults=D7 20
5) in Afterburner, Reset to default settings **
6) in Afterburner, change "Core Voltage" to 1.000V--changing the profile setting to 0950/950 is not useful as of 1.60 beta 4.

9) in Afterburner, \Settings\Profiles\2D Profile\ & "3D Profile" choose "Profile 1" ***
10) on each Windows startup, run Afterburner
11) in Afterburner, "Reset" to re-enable 0.950V.
* UnlockVoltageControl in the primary Afterburner profile's [Settings] will likely be needed.
** Only default profiles support Power Play states correctly.
*** Having a non-"default" profile in 3D results in the "3D Profile" activating instead of the UVD in the BIOS.
