Msi R7950 3Gb 384-bit OC edition Noise Level?

Hi, I received my new pc yesterday and spent last night installing all the drivers,OS, etc.
My GPU idles at 36C on Summers day and about 68 when playing Games like MoH Warfighter or during a benchmark test. The problem however is that i'm not quite sure about the fan speeds. It runs at about 59% (all acceptable),but the RPM is 4600 and that is really loud. My card is running on factory default settings with the Graphics OverDrive set at the default  GPU Clock @960Mhz and Memory clock at 1250.
Can anyone just confirm with me that these specs are normal, I'm actually only worried about the fan RPM because it's as loud as my 9600GT at 95% fan speed

I would just like to add that at 43% fan speed idling the tachometer reads an RPM of 1844 and everything is real quiet . Also when I manually adjust the fan speed to say 60% the RPM only increases to 3042 compared to that 4650 when it's on auto in games, but that is while idling and not in a high-performance game or benchmark.

  • MSI R7950 voltage locked?

Hello everyone, I recently added a R7950 Boost Edition, one with a 6+8 pin board to my system for crossfire.
I was able to set core to 1000mhz and mem to 1575 at default voltage which is 949mv for my card. However, I was trying for 1100mhz core to match my other 7950.
Using Afterburner, it allows me to change the voltage to 1100mv, but what I'm seeing is a bit weird.
In the GPU voltage graph, I'll see spikes that go up to 1100mv when I sit there and watch it while in Windows.  When I test using Heaven or playing games, the voltage only goes up to 1.088 throughout the whole Heaven session even though I set the voltage to 1100mv.
Even when I leave the voltage at default 949mv, Heaven and games go up to 1.088.
I can't get the core past 1000mhz because the voltage never goes above 1.088 no matter what I set it at during games or Heaven and causes the apps to crash.  However like I said above, if I set my voltage to lets say 1200mv, I'll see single spikes in Afterburner go up to 1200mv.  During load, it never goes above 1.088mv.
I've tried all this in Crossfire and by using the MSI card alone, the voltage just wont budge :/
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know. Ask MSI: >>How to contact MSI.<<
There is nother vbios supporting more features than current vbios TV277MH.380 you provided. To have backup simply flash it on the bricked one. If you can boot your system with onboard/integrated gpu or you have an old spare vga for display boot with the R9 280x switched to the bricked vbios and flash the vbios with your saved one.
That's great. Do you a link to this other vbios please?

  • MSI z77A-G43 C1E enabled and strange noise from cpu area ?

MSI z77A-G43 C1E enabled and strange noise from cpu area ? What will be the problem? When I disabled it there is no sound. BUt when I enabled it there is a strange noise while moving my mouse cursor or when there is some CPU activity, sounds like a squeeking or scratching, a bit like hdd activity, but barely noticeable. It looks like it's coming from the area around the cpu socket, must be something on the motherboard. is there a solution other than just disabling it? I want to be able to make C1E enable but cant bare this noise so I have to turn it of....

Sound like some electrical sound produced by current going through that area.
Try contacting MSI support for more help.

  • MSI R7950 Twin Frozr III Temp Issues

I have been having issues with my video card (MSI R7950 Twin Frozr III) under load and previously even while  idle with temperatures being way higher than they should be. Browsed many forums and it was suggested that I change the thermal paste, which fixed part of the issue (The video card under "normal" load went from 95C to 75-84C while at 90 to 100% load the temperatures rises back up to the 90s). Before changing the thermal paste, the idle temperatures were around 60, under regular load a little over 90 as stated previously.
The video card runs perfectly otherwise which has me thinking it's most likely a problem related to the heatsink and cooler itself.
I'd personally rather avoid RMA if possible so my question is, is it possible for a cooler/heatsink to cause such a high temperature issue and if so, would purchasing an aftermarket cooler fix the problem or could there be other issues leading to the high temperatures other than the cooler/heatsink itself?
    Thank you for your time.
In case this is relevant in any way:

    WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit.
    Catalyst 12.4

After flashing to this vbios, I seem to have gained performance, but the card also seems to be running a bit more hot which could be affected by me being in a different area in the game or slightly higher temperature in my room around the computer, etc.
I haven't tried changing drivers lately, had before when I first was faced with this temperature problem (Have been busy for a while and never bothered trying to figure the issue or try reapplying thermal paste to see if it would fix it until I got time for it recently). I tried both AMD's official drivers, the drivers I had at the time for my 4890 as well and the MSI auto-update software, none of which seemed to fix the heat problem.
If you believe I should try drivers now and see if it can fix the problem once again I don't mind trying.

The 7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5 uses a custom board design (besides better quality) made for more oc ability. Therefor it is able to consume more power than a reference board only having 2 x 6 Pin
    The PEG Slot will allow up to 75 W power consumption while a PCIe 6-Pin will add up to 75 W. So reference board with 2 x 6 pin will be a allowed to consume 225 W power in total (75 W + 2 x 75 W)
An 8-pin PCIe will allow 150 W power consumption what allows up to 300 W in total of power consumption resulting in more headroom for oc on your card.
Yup correct, just remember to add other hardwares like 2500K with 95watt TDP, HDD, Optical Drive and other minor parts like fans

  • MSI R7950 TF 3GD5/OC BE too high stock voltage

Hi, this is my first post so please be gentle with me
I just bought a MSI R7950 TF 3GD5/OC BE video card which is 960mhz stock speed, but I found out that this card has a too high stock voltage which displays 1.18v in GPUZ and 1.25v in afterburner. I don't think the card can last long with such a high voltage so I want to lower it.
I try to adjust the voltage in afterburner, it seems it changes in the software (the slide did change). But GPUZ still displays the same voltage.
Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the reply.
I've found the solution for that. I downloaded the version 3.00beta9 of afterburner and now it can change the vcore.
I changed the vcore from 1.25 to 1.05v. Now the card is running at 1050mhz, 57degree with 60% fan speed, cool and quiet. Before was 75 degree and 80% fan speed.
    I'm satisfied now.
Ive got Afterburner 2.31, its allows undervolting as well. But problem is that in boost mode new values are ignored and back to default. So in that case cant see any sense in doing that. Is that changed in ver 3?
    D.

    Hi,
I'm using SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP 7.02 SP6 32-bit - Developer Edition on which I have installed the License Key (using http://www.sap.com/minisap page). On this system I'm trying to install the BI Content 7.04, but I have some problems because I still get "no valid maintenance certificate found for system".
Is it possible to install the package on the SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP 7.02 SP6 32-bit ? What do I have to do to install this package?
I have installed the maintenance license (using SLICENSE). The is from http://www.sap.com/minisap page. After installing the new license, the status it is a green square which indicate that the licenses it is OK.
After installing the maintenance licenses do I need to do something ?

I dont know about the developer version which sap has shared but after the application of maintainence certificate you need to install that add on using saint.Thanks.

  • Does Photoshop CS5, Elements 8 and Lightroom 3 support Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition?

Does Photoshop CS5, Elements 8 and Lightroom 3 support Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition?  Any issue installing these products on a new PC when I already have it installed on another PC?  I am getting a new PC to replace XP machine I already have.

Yes, Photoshop runs on all editions of Windows 7 as far as I know.
And the Photoshop EULA does give you the option to install and activate the software on a second machine.  Once you no longer need the XP system, assuming it's still functional, just deactivate the Adobe software on it and you'll be able to have the same flexibility again in the future.
If ever you have a licensing agreement question, all the EULAs are online here:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/eulas/
A side note:  Windows Home Premium may do all you need for now, but keep in mind there is a Windows Anytime Upgrade you can buy in the future that will allow you to move up to a higher edition of Windows 7 later if you should feel you need more features.
This page has some information on that, and also describes the edition differences pretty thoroughly.  I especially like the nice table they've built:

  • MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC memory clock?

I have had an MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC for about 6 months now and have used MSI Afterburner to monitor temps etc. Today I used it to lower my overclocking as others had said Ghost Recon Future Soldier doesn't crash if you take it off.
If you look at the MSI product page for the card (the forum won't let me post a link to it!?) you can see the Memory Clock Speed(MHz) says 4000 yet in Afterburner mine said 2000Mhz and the slider was in the middle. I am pretty sure there is no multiplier at work here so mine wasn't being overclocked?
Any ideas? I have reduced it down to 1800Mhz and GRFS doesn't crash anymore but can I take it up to 4000Mhz safely in future? I do not want to overload the card.

you have multiply the memory value x2 to get the effective speed
