MSI R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5 V2 or V2/OC?

I just bought a MSI R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5  V2/OC. That should have a standard core speed of 880Hz Now when I look in "AMD Vision control center -> Information -> hardware"
Then I see that my core speed is 800Mhz it should be 880Mhz. Do I have a V2 or a V2/OC? serial:602-V277-06SB1210136267

Hi I Looking for Bios Update for
    R7950 TWIN FROZR 3GD5/OC
    Serial No 602-V277-17SB1305039287
thank you very much for the help

Well, you can try the current UEFI/GOP vbios instead of the legacy you are using:
Decompress the attached .rar archive with Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0).
Then unpack the previously provided archive (270.rar) and put the included file (TV277MH.270) on that stick.
Rename TV277MH.270 to 270.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also included in the archive provided on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 270.rom [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.

The 7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5 uses a custom board design (besides better quality) made for more oc ability. Therefor it is able to consume more power than a reference board only having 2 x 6 Pin
    The PEG Slot will allow up to 75 W power consumption while a PCIe 6-Pin will add up to 75 W. So reference board with 2 x 6 pin will be a allowed to consume 225 W power in total (75 W + 2 x 75 W)
An 8-pin PCIe will allow 150 W power consumption what allows up to 300 W in total of power consumption resulting in more headroom for oc on your card.
Yup correct, just remember to add other hardwares like 2500K with 95watt TDP, HDD, Optical Drive and other minor parts like fans

  • MSI R7950 Twin Frozr III Temp Issues

I have been having issues with my video card (MSI R7950 Twin Frozr III) under load and previously even while  idle with temperatures being way higher than they should be. Browsed many forums and it was suggested that I change the thermal paste, which fixed part of the issue (The video card under "normal" load went from 95C to 75-84C while at 90 to 100% load the temperatures rises back up to the 90s). Before changing the thermal paste, the idle temperatures were around 60, under regular load a little over 90 as stated previously.
The video card runs perfectly otherwise which has me thinking it's most likely a problem related to the heatsink and cooler itself.
I'd personally rather avoid RMA if possible so my question is, is it possible for a cooler/heatsink to cause such a high temperature issue and if so, would purchasing an aftermarket cooler fix the problem or could there be other issues leading to the high temperatures other than the cooler/heatsink itself?
    Thank you for your time.
In case this is relevant in any way:

    WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit.
    Catalyst 12.4

After flashing to this vbios, I seem to have gained performance, but the card also seems to be running a bit more hot which could be affected by me being in a different area in the game or slightly higher temperature in my room around the computer, etc.
I haven't tried changing drivers lately, had before when I first was faced with this temperature problem (Have been busy for a while and never bothered trying to figure the issue or try reapplying thermal paste to see if it would fix it until I got time for it recently). I tried both AMD's official drivers, the drivers I had at the time for my 4890 as well and the MSI auto-update software, none of which seemed to fix the heat problem.
If you believe I should try drivers now and see if it can fix the problem once again I don't mind trying.

  • R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5/OC

I just put together a new computer, since the first time I started it up for the first time my display drops out after 30-60seconds. I swapped out the video card with a know working card and the system is perfectly fine so I know it is something with the video card. I have searched for any known issues with the card and have not really come up with any glaring fixes or known problems. I have submitted for tech support directly from MSI but figured I would try here in the mean time. I am not completely computer savvy so the technical jargon will go over my head but I can make it through putting a tower together and doing basic things like flashing a bios or basics like that, I just do not know a good starting point or if I should just immediately return the card. Any suggestions would be great.

  • R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5/OC no temperature reading

Hello I just got this card from newegg. When I first turned on my PC, once it started Win 8 the card fans started running at a 100%. At first I thought it was the drivers, since this is a newly built pc. So I installed the drivers that came with the box, which are the latest ones (checked on the website), but still the fans ran at top speed. I installed AfterBurner and was able to manually decrease the fan speed. I tried finding out what was going on, I went to check on the temperature readings for the GPU but they all say 0 degrees Celsius.
I tried using catalyst control center and a couple of third party monitors and I got the same readings. Has anyone seen a problem like this before? Is it fixable? I'm scared of playing games because the fan won't scale up and down automatically, I would have to do it manually without even knowing the temperature of the GPU. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, downloading all windows updates, my mobo is on the latest BIOS. Every other temperature readings are showing except for the video card.
    Mobo: ASUS P8Z77-V LK

have you tried to check it with GPU-Z http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2198/TechPowerUp_GPU-Z_v0.6.7.html
    at sensor tab?
or with >>How to use MSI Afterburner<< ?
have you tried msi vga drivers from msi web for your card?
