MSI R9 270x hawk

Hi,
6 Months ago i bought this Graphic card and in those months i've been playing low graphics games like Contract Wars (facebook game), the graphic suddently started to show signs like freezing, artefacts (yes i've already tried new drivers), so when everything else failed i went to tomshardware to ask their opinion and i found out this is actually common and what was told me was that the graphic card was showing signs of dying. Since this is one of your products i would like to know what do you have me do to fix this problem.

Nope it doesn't void warranty but don't flash to anything you find on the internet. You will be provided OFFICIAL one through here, but I don't think it will change anything if it started to happen suddenly.

It is unfortunate that this is a problem that repeat this often.
I bought the card in February 2014 and been running perfectly until a few days ago came the famous "black screens" to load the drivers, I've tried everything:
    - Completely clean installation S.O. W7 x64 with Catalyst drivers v13-12 ---> ERROR
    - Completely clean installation S.O. W8.1 x64 with Catalyst drivers v13-12 and the new bios Hybrid for W8 ---> ERROR
    - Restore backups S.O. (W7 x64) where the card working properly ---> ERROR
    - With the default drivers S.O. Catalyst drivers without the graphics card works perfectly but is useless for games.
I came to think that it is a hardware error and therefore RMA process.
This is the last step I can take before RMA, if no solution with a new vBios these
    believe are the necessary data:

  • REQUEST: UEFI GOP VBIOS FOR MSI R9 270X HAWK Edition

I am having problems with my 270X HAWK which I am hoping a new vbios can fix:
    MSI R9 270X Hawk 2GB
    S/N: 602-V303-02SB1310008582
Card features two switchable BIOS for the LN2 profile.

Hi mate, I have the same card and was provided the latest UEFI BIOS's here:
    TV303HM.131 (Standard)
    TV303HM.141 (LN2)
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=176696.0;attach=12596
Please note: I and another user had issues with the Standard TV303HM.131 BIOS not working in UEFI mode despite the LN2 working fine, so if you could let me know if it works for you that would be extremely helpful in diagnosing compatibility issues between boards etc

  • [REQUEST] UEFI/GOP vBIOS for MSI R9 270X Hawk

    Hello guys.
Could anyone please hook me up with the latest UEFI/GOP vBIOS for my MSI R9 270X HAWK and instructions on how to install/flash it?
I'm going to convert my Windows 8.1 Pro installation to a UEFI with SecureBoot installation so need the vBIOS for the same.
    Here are the required files/information:-
    Model - MSI R9 270X HAWK
    S/N - 602-V303-02SB1311009978
Current vBIOS - 1drv(dot)ms/1u2mShL  (Replace (dot) with .)
    Thanks in advance! :D
    Regards,
    Yash Shah

    Use the attached.
    TV303MH.131 is normal vbios, TV303MH.141 is LN2
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0).
Then unpack the previously provided archive (131_141.rar) and put the included file (TV303MH.131 or TV303MH.141) on that stick.
Rename TV303MH.131 / TV303MH.141 to 131.rom / 141.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also included in the archive on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 131.rom (or 141.rom) [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.

  • MSI R9 270x HAWK - Image output un-sharp/smeared

    Hello MSI,
I purchased a MSI R9 270x Hawk from my friend. The GPU is working fine in games and still has warranty.
Sadly I'm noticing some weird things regarding image output that I can't explain really well. I went ahead and made some pictures with my phone:
    *It's desktop wide*
    What I've tried:
    - Re-install Windows
    - Installing a older AMD driver version
    - Replaced the VGA cable
    - Tried a different monitor
The only thing my friend should tell me (Got no proof if he actually did it) is that he he said that he had updated the bios with a newer version which increased performance(?).
I haven't seen this problem before or had it with my previous GPU which was a Nvidia 9800GTX+. Hopefully the MSI forum is able to help me out.
According to MSI Live Update the current GPU version is: TV303MS.134
    Edit:
GPU-Z says the current bios version is: 015.041.000.000.002887 (113-C6310100-X15)

  • MSI R9 270X Hawk Grey Screen of Death

I have the MSI R9 270X Hawk graphics card. Recently this error occurred randomly a grey screen with horizontal lines . It occurs when I try to run a game, also it will randomly occur when the PC is just idling doing nothing, it renders the computer unusable, only 'fix' is to uninstall the 270x video drivers and run the computer with the motherboard graphics. I have the Corsair TX 650 as my power supply. I read somewhere that it might be a PSU issue but I do not believe that to be the case, it is either a driver issue or a bad card. However, for the past 3 weeks I have been running my games fine, (Tomb Raider, BF4, GTAIV, Assassins Creed 4) all on high settings, with no problems. I included a screenshot of the graphics information as well as the OS and ram etc, also a text file with all the detailed information.

    Ok, sorry about that.
Currently seem to have a Grey Screen whenever I boot the desktop with the graphics card installed.
    1. I tried system restore to see if it was a program causing the grey screen, but same problem.
    2. Tried installing the cd version of the AMD drivers same problem.
    3. Installed the latest version of the driver, as well as, beta version same problem.
    4. Removed the graphics card and put it back in booted up, same problem.
    5. Also tried the Molex Cables that came in the box to different power supply on the PSU, same problem.

  • MSI R9 270X HAWK low GPU usage and screen flickering problem

I bought an MSI R9 270X HAWK vga and I have this screen flickering issue.
    My S/N: 602-V303-02SB1310009419
I also had another problem: the GPU usage averages at 50-55% on every game (DX9,10,11 games like TESV Skyrim, League of Legends, Crysis 2-3, Battlefield 2-3, Far Cry 3) and never reaches more than 80%(well, once I made it run at 99%, I used ultra settings on Battlefield 4 with Sync on, Ultra preset settings with 200% res. scale so pretty much the maxed out Settings). I'm using this card with 8GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance RAM with a stock clocked 1090T and AMD's reply for this problem was, that this problem can be driver problem as well as VBIOS.

I created a bootable usb, placed the files in it (formated, and only these files were at the usb, dos startup directed to win98boot's folder (C:\win98boot) renamed the tv303ms.134 to tv303ms.rom,l after i placed it on the usb and in the boot menu there are four additional options related to the USB (there's no USB only option): FDD, HDD, CDROM, zip. Selecting the FDD and CDROM starts the windows normally, The HDD option ended on the white-black screen, and there's where I can write:   C:\>
after this i tried to type in: atiflash.exe TV303MS.rom [enter] nothing happened, then atiflash.exe [enter] and popped up some help instructions for the use of atiflash, I pressed enter over and over and then requested another command, I tiped in the tv303ms.rom [enter] and again nothing happened (invalid command I think). What should I do now ? I did some research but still can't figure out what the problem is. :/ (If I done everything correct, maybe the problem related to my motherboard or USB stick?)

  • MSI R9 270x HAWK "malfunction"?

Hi, I have owned this graphics card for the last 4 months and its always worked fine apart from getting bluescreens due to html5 videos (other people have the same problem).
Today while playing BF4 the screen started flickering until it turned kind of red and black so I
    1. Restarted the PC and everything was fine until it got past the point where it asks if I want to boot into safe mode, after that the screen would turn black and nothing would happen, it did boot into safe mode so I thought it might have been some driver that got corrupted.
    2. I decided to install windows 8.1 and then when I went into internet explorer it crashed (this was after quite a few minutes of using the pc) then I restarted and it crashed even sooner.
    3. Took the gpu out, reset the bios and everything was fine. Then I downloaded the drivers.
    4. put the gpu back in and tried to install the drivers but halfway through it crashed again. Now im using the gpu but its not actually working, I think its just going through the gpu to the cpu graphics card.
Was wondering if there is a fix for this or if I have to RMA it (been 4 months since I bought it so I doubt I can RMA it with scan, that's why I'm posting here).
    Thank you, John
Edit #1 - I technically didnt buy this since Scan replaced it for a gigabyte r9 270x windforce

Hi, the bios version I put was actually wrong, its actually the latest update called "F11a".
The gigabyte card completely stopped working and they told me they found a problem in the card itself.

It works with the default windows driver in both PCs, but when the AMD driver is installed it fails after the windows welcome screen. Sometimes the screen turns blue, sometimes black/grey, and sometimes there are blue squares in lines on the screen and the PC freezes up. To get it to work again I have to boot into safe mode and remove the driver with Display Driver Uninstaller, since the normal uninstaller doesnt work in safe mode.
    Drivers I tried:
    13-12_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql
    amd_catalyst_14.1_betav1.6
MSI Graphics Driver (both from the CD and the website)
Tried with both BIOS modes. Tried in both PCI-E slots in the asrock board. The 6 pin power connectors are split between the two rails.
I also have an MSI 270X Gaming 2GB, and it works in both PCs without issues. The previous owner updated the BIOS on that one.
I know that the PSUs are far from optimal, but they had no problems with the 270X Gaming on full load or my previous GTX275, even when I overclocked the CPU and had 4/5 hard drives in there. The PSU upgrade (XFX Pro 850W) is on its way, but it is still around a week or more until it arrives.
