MSI R9 280X GAMING vs MSI R9 280X GAMING BF4 edition
Hi Guys,
I was wondering if there is any hardware difference between the MSI R9 280X GAMING and MSI R9 280X GAMING BF4 edition.
I already have an MSI R9 280X GAMING BF4 edition and I want one more that is identical. However the retail price for the "none BF4" is cheaper.
Please advice.
Hi,
There is no difference in hardware. The BF4 version has a code to get a copy/download of BF4
Greetings, Anne

First off, I've purchased a R9 290x re-badged AMD card before the holidays. It got to me after the new year, and never worked it was DOA. I paid 579 for it from newegg, plus shipping. It's now discontinued, so I had to RMA with MSI, paid shipping again. They've had the card for 31 days, then they tell me it's out of stock, and offer me a refund of 495. I've -never- been so insulted by a "market value" amount in my life! Consider the fact that they are now going for 699+ up to 999.
BUYER BEWARE
New Egg should have taken this back.

R9 270x gaming BF4 GOP Request
Hi,
could you provide me with a GOP UEFI vBIOS for the following card:

Decompress the attached .rar archive with Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0).
Then unpack the previously provided archive (102.rar) and put the included file (TV303MH.102) on that stick.
Rename TV303MH.102 to 102.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also included in the archive provided on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 102.rom [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.
Flobelix, would you mind explaining the "-noaper" command option that you advice to do in atiflash? I can't find an explanation about it anywhere -

None of that is a bios version. We need a link to a copy of your vbios saved to file and uploaded to a file hoster to check if there is a newer version. If not allowed to link yet add a break to the link so it is masked being a link.

Others reported that too when using the same card. If unlocking won't work (>>How to use MSI Afterburner<<) contact MSi about it as there seems to be an issue: >>How to contact MSI.<<

UEFI is aGOP compliant vbios that allows to use secureboot/fastboot (Windows 8/8.1). If not using UEFI booting it doesn't matter which you use. Older mainboards with UEFI but not being GOP compliant on the other hand won't work with a GOP vbios and only the legacy vbios allows to use the card. -
[Request] MSI R9 280x Gaming OC Edition (Canada)
Hello, I accidentally flashed a Sapphire BIOS onto my MSI 280x like an idiot and am scared I bricked it because now the driver is crashing and I'm getting artifacting. I also stupidly overwrote the original vBIOS with the sapphire so I beg of you to please help me out with my initial vbios. Card was bought with 15.40 on it, I tried flashing to another one linked here for : 602-v277-28SBxxx however my numbers at the end are different. If it's still crashing, does that mean it's bricked? Mine is: 912-V277-057
Unfortunately I cannot upload the BIOS as it was overwritten by Sapphire BIOS! And I cannot find it anywhere else...looking for 28SB bios.
Even though I tried naming sapphire bios like so: atiflash -s 0 sapphireoriginal.bin and : atiflash -s 0 original.bin it still overwrote the MSI original.bin! Gahhh.
Any help appreciated! Thank you.

What does that mean? what is your S/N?
Mate, that is my serial number!
Just wanted to update that I flashed with legacy 304 that I found on these forums and all seems to be working great again. In fact, the temps are much lower, I'm assuming because the new bios fixed VRM overheating...used to run @ 80c now it barely hits 70.
Great job MSI! I suggest others also update bios if temps are too high. -

Decompress the provided .rar archive with Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Then flash the included file with Nvflash for dos: http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/nvflash_download.html
To do so rename the included file to .rom and create a dos bootstick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0)
Put nvflash and the vbios file on it and boot from the stick. Then type nvflash -4 -5 -6 gop.rom (if renamed vbios that way) and hit enter. Confirm the questions and let the tool flash -
MSI Nvidia GTX 760 OC Edition broken
Hi guys, back in December I bought an MSI Nvidia GTX 760 OC Edition and it has worked flawlessly until a few days ago. The first sign of trouble (a few days ago) was that the computer was restarting and when it returned to desktop there was a messaged that read "nVidia display drivers have stopped working and have been recovered". Sometimes it would happen without restarting the computer which would result in the screen going blank for a second and then coming back on with the aforementioned message.
To resolve this I used the "Driver Sweeper" program to completely remove the drivers for the card and reinstall them, but the problem persisted. I did this several times with the latest driver and the older driver and the last time I did it when I was booting into windows the screen got covered with graphical artifacts in pink and yellow colours and would not even display the mouse cursor. So I switched to the integrated graphics (thank goodness my motherboard has onboard graphics or I would be screwed) and since then the system would not recognise the graphics card, even in the BIOS. This means that I cannot install drivers for the card because the Nvidia installer will not install drivers if it does not detect a graphics card present.
Now when I put the graphics card in the fan runs at max even if I unplug the PCI-e power connectors from it, yet the system refuses to recognise the card at all.
So here's a summary of what I have done:
cleaned drivers out completely
Reinstalled latest and older version of driver
Checked Bios
Reseated GPU
Tried the card in another PCI-e slot
Started the computer with the HDMI cable plugged into the graphics card, resulting in no monitor output
Attempted to install drivers from the DVD, same problem as with the drivers downloaded from the Nvidia website
Here are my system specs, everything is under a year old:
MSi Z87-G55 mobo
intel Core i5 4670k
Corsair Vengeance 8GB Ram (2x4)
XFX 650 watt core pro Bronze edition PSU
So yeah, pretty high spec and all new. I don't have another computer to try the GPU in, but with the driver related shenanigans it is fair to suspect that the GPU is at fault. I have removed the card and everything is running fine without it.
MSi don't offer any helpful information about their RMA procedure so it would appear my only hope is the person I bought it from. Although I will try to harass MSi about it to see if I can get it RMA'ed via them.Right, as an update I was issued a replacement by MSI and it arrived today The broken card arrived to them on Wednesday and they dispatched a replacement that same day and it arrived today (Monday). So that is less than five days from the broken card arriving to them to the replacement arriving at my door, very impressed. So if anyone in the UK has a faulty MSi product that needs replacing I can vouch for their RMA service, it is first class In my experience at least, I can say that MSi are one of the good guys and will definitely be a manufacturer to consider when shopping for new hardware.

MSI R9 290X 4GD5 BF4 Radeon R9 290X Troubles all around.
Hi, hope you like to read but I'm having Issues everywhere with every aspect of the $579 first time AMD card purchase.
My build I've been slowly piecing together...
i5 4760k
MSI R9 290X 4GD5 BF4 Radeon R9 290X from newegg before christmas, now discontinued I see :(
New Corsair TX750 PSU
New Biostar HiFi z87x MOBO (i eventually flashed the BIOS to try to get the gpu to work)
Win7 64bit SP1 on 128 SSD
~5 TB of additional storage on other drives
Day 1, unbox, install as instructions state, hook up power to the AMD/MSI GPU. 8,6pin PCIE on the working Corsair tx-750 PSU. (i have a PSU tester, it was working prior with another card)
Power up, fan on the GPU spins, tried to load driver from DVD that came with box, no drivers found.... At all, browse DVD/CD was the only option when I clicked "install drivers". This needs to be done from what I've read to get the OS to detect the card (even though in BIOS it doesn't detect anything either)
FINALLY GET DRIVERS TO DOWNLOAD FROM MIS LAST WEEK AFTER 24 HOURS OF INCOMPLETE< CORRUPT DOWNLOADS......FUN!
I chose to install custom, and express both, either way the installer fails after detecting system, and tries to detect hardware.
I tried to re-set the card, and used different PCIE power since I have spares with the PSU, still the GPU fan spins, but will not be detected. Driver Installer has failed in the same spot, all 30 times I've written down I've tested it, possibly more. "install package failure"is the error i get, goto the HTML error log, and it's not much help.
I flashed the motherboard, still no detection in BIOS either of the card even being there.
I currently had Intel HD4000 video support only installed, I was using my older MSI 550ti until I got the card from newegg, and uninstalled the drivers before I started the process.
SO, ONTO THE NEXT FRUSTRATION...
I sent in a request for technical support, and got an email back promptly- Thanks! , except the link doesn't work, at all, on 3 different machines, different ISP's you name it, google cant find the page.
Fine, Ill try an RMA, BZZZZZ wrong answer, can't get to that page either.....
The basic troubleshooting "FAQ" that was sent to me in an email is all relating to Motherboards too, 0 information on GPUs.
Very frustrating... I think I just made my first and last AMD card purchase, now to get one that at least works and see if it changes my mind. Anyone here fro technical support, since I can't find links that work? I just want an RMA at this point, unless there is something, short of re-installing OS, OFFICE and all the other fun stuff I spent hours doing.
-Any- help at this point would be greatly appreciated!!!!Normally technical support is quite good. If you are located in the US there seems to be a website issue indeed as neither rma nor the technical support sites are working when I just tried (>>How to contact MSI.<<).
Either you wait for the rma system to work or you try it via the reseller (which can be faster with some sellers).
As your card doesn't work at all, you have a current Z87 board with updated bios, a sufficient psu and a different vga works it really looks at least like the new card is dead on arrival. -

MSI 975X PLATINUM POWER UP EDITION
today is january 23rd, 2010
i just bought the msi 975x platinum power up edition in new york, from a store that was going out of business, but i am having problems because this does not power on.
i am using brand new and tested functioning: thermaltake tr2 430w psu, intel core 2 duo 2.66GHz fsb 1066, and also tried a celeron d 2.66GHz fsb 533, 1x corsair 1gb stick 800 mhz, nvidia 7 series pci express vga card, connected to a test ctr monitor AOC 5en.
i connected the 24 pin atx main connector, the 8 pin connector that powers on the cpu and also the peripheral connector that powers the pci express, and all i got was the heatsink fan spinning, but nothing appears on my screen (all is black).
i hope somebody can help me, because now the store where i bought it has closed, and i dont know how to get a warranty from MSI since i dont understand their RMA policy.Quote
if it is not sure that after updating bios the motherboard can use some more new cpu`s, then i think it would be a waste of time trying to do a bios upgrade.
I am not sure that I understood what you mean, but it is nothing unusual that an older board/chipset will not support the latest processor models. And this has nothing to do with the board manufacturer.
Quote
I only wanted to do that bios upgrade thinking it would be enough to avoid the karma of searching for those listed cpus
What is so hard about digging up a supported processor? I mean, all you have to do is to decide which model you want to get (an E6600 would be a great choice for this board) and then buy it. You will probably be able to get a great deal on a used one on E-Bay.
This is not a complicated situation.

this is my first msi mobo!!!
... and it has nothing to do with this being an MSI Mainboard. The only problem is that it is an old mainboard/Chipset and that the latest 45nm processors are too different regarding their specifications to be properly supported.

MSI R9 270X 2G-BF4 Artifacts and Jitters
Hi,
I get intermittent artifacts with my new MSI R9 270X 2G BF4 card and I was wondering if there is a fix for this. Previously I had an ASUS 6950HD and never experienced this issue.
After installing the video driver Catalyst 14.9 I get artifacts on desktop (2D) as well as in game (3D). To rectify the issue, I have to change the desktop resolution to a low resolution and then change it back to 1920x1200. After doing this, everything works fine. Sometimes restarting the PC also fixes the problem, although not very often. The artifacts happen on PC startup and is very intermittent. At times I don't see this problem for days.
Images: ***https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=444CF70E90AF7D31!532&authkey=!AJlfvvR7mjnSfRo&ithint=folder%2c
When installing the latest AMD driver Catalyst 14.12 the screen also jitters rapidly. Is there a fix to this or is it a faulty card?

So far what i've been able to see on my gs60 ghost pro (2pe), ram is upgradable, you have to n2 slots where there is only 1 in 128 gb ssd (weird size not the new standard), the normal 2,5" drive is an easy upgradable.
