MSI R9 280X updated BIOS please

My card's temps are running too high, even on short time use (76-89 C) and have a high fan speed as a result. This is not sustainable. The temps stay high even if I leave the case open. I am looking if there is a BIOS update that can mitigate this issue.

THANKS!

Would opening the card up to replace thermal compound void warranty?
No, as long as nothing gets buggered up in the process.

*MSI recommend you to update BIOS with ME8 only if you are using Ivy Bridge 22nm CPU.
Sorry to say but it seams illogical. AFAIK it is impossible to flash form SB to IB bios using Ivy Bridge. Am I wrong?
Going further... I can not find any positive reports that users can get working system by  changing cpu to Ivy after all those bad flashes. I see many suggestions to try it but I can not see any "success!" info. IMHO MSI flash procedure is just "somehow" unreliable. It is nice that MSI decided to support IB on older motherboards but we see too many bricks on our forum.
My idea (wild guess) to avoid bricking is to flash with only one stick of memory.
PS: IMHO Click Bios II attracts too much too many P67 users (like me)

No, you won't. Only physical damage caused in the process would. The sticker is meant to prevent from careless tinkering with the card. If you need a confirmation from your local MSI office: >>How to contact MSI.<<

There is no such. The R9 280X batches not allowing voltage adjustments by default are finally not supported for voltage adjustments. If wanting to contact MSI about it: >>How to contact MSI.<<

  • Have MSI p67 GD65 - update bios to 1.7 help.

    Hi there,
I want to update my bios to 1.7.
When I search on the site I don't see 1.7, only 1.6. Where are people getting 1.7? Also, I hear there's something else you need to download as well? Something about IME?
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Also, is it required to clear cmos? I have to take the case apart right?
    Thanks.

  • MSI Z87-G45 Updated bios to 1.3 with M-Flash without ME

So is this a problem ? should ME be updated as well ?
I went from the first bios to this one but only saw later on that is was suppose to be flashed with ME.
So should i re flash the bios ? if anyone can tell me that would be much appreciated.

Thanks. Nevertheless,  yesterday I was upgrading the bios to version 1.4 and bricked the board. BSOD during erasing flash and that's it. PC never boot again. Now sending to RMA. So be careful with flashing! This board does not have dual bios unfortunately :(
I had to RMA a brand new board the first month I had it because out of the box I could not update the board. When I called MSI support they a) had zero RMA stock available and b) were going to try to give me refurb until I threw a fit. I had purchased some upgrades and it was about two weeks before the build so I was unable to return to the seller for an exchange and directed to MSI.
After a couple weeks MSI ended up sending me a new retail board that had been "personally QC'd" by the tech I had dealt with on the phone. I was assured the board could now by flashed and sure enough this was the case. The upper heatsinks were physically "damaged" however, not functionally but aesthetically. They must have touched plastic to them while they were nice and warm because there's a gob of fused plastic/disfigured heatsink now.
I also now hang trying to update. So, I'm pretty much done with board, done with MSI.

  • GTX670 need updated BIOS please.

    Hi,
I was wondering if there's an updated vbios for my 670GTX's. Reason being is I have ran Sisoft Sandra and ALLBENCHMARK and they are saying there should be. Here's a link to my vbios on all 3 cards. Its the same for the 3 video cards I have. I was here before and get an updated vbios from SVET.
On another note I was wondering. I cannot for the love of God find out why my game (Battlefield 3) crash's a lot. I get a BSOD after 20 min's of playing sometimes it last longer. When I check out the sysdump ...the sysdump says that a NVIDIA DRIVER caused the crash. I don't have an overclocked computer nor do I overclock my video cards. So I went to NVIDIA'S website and poked around and made sure I had their drivers installed correctly. Still had bsod's after that. At first I thought maybe I wasn't getting enough power to the computer so I bought a device that makes sure that my computer is getting 1200 watts' of power consistently. I read something on NVIDIA'S website that the driver in question that keeps on crashing was made to do that to protect my computer. I wish I could find that reference again. I should of printed it out. But it had to do with something about NVidia and Microsoft and that a lot of people that had Vista had that problem of that same driver. I have MSI Afterburner installed and I'm using a fan profile and even my temps are normal while I'm playing. 50 to 60 C. I've read that it's Battlefield 3 coding so if it's that then I guess Im' out of luck then. Any insight would be helpful.
Heres' a likn to my VBIOS and here's he S/N's https://www.dropbox.com/s/53etwo29kfen86t/GK104.rom

  • Msi z97 gaming 5 bios update help

Hello I recently purchased the msi z97 gaming 5 motherboard. It was working fine it came with bios version 1.0 and I wanted to update it. I downloaded the latest 1.5 bios from msi website copied to usb flash drive and flashed it using mflash. Computer powers on but black screen wont do nothing. I cleared cmos and battery and still nothing so I am pretty sure its bricked. I am going to store to exchange it for another one but I want to be able to safely update the bios without bricking again. I usually dont update bios unless needed but i need at least 1.2 bios to fully support the devils canyon cpu. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I read about the usb flashing tool in forum but also read that bios+me need to be flashed and I don't know if that program is up to date and will flash both files? I really appreciate it if someone helped thanks in advance.

Also does anyone know if it is dangerous to update the bios with a 4690k devils canyon cpu since it is not officially supported until 1.2? Is that why my first bios flash was bricked? I would hate to go and borrow another cpu just to update the bios but if I have to I will. Sorry for all the questions but I need to get my bios updated and I will not update it until I am sure of all these things. Thanks to anyone who answers these questions.

  • MSI H61M-E23 (B3) bios not updating ....

    Hi,
The board was working fine, it had an old bios, so I when to MSI website to download an up to date bios.
H61M-E23(B3) MS-7680 ver 2.11  (info on the board)
    xxx.msi.com / support / mb / H61ME23_B3.html#down-bios
the bios I found on msi site was ver 12.3 @ 2013-01-10, it was an executable file!
(how can I extract the BIOS ROM file from this?)
Anyway I was running win8 x32, I close all programs that was running, then started the bios upgrade, after a few seconds windows started to restart, then I got this message about the BIOS NOT COMPLETED UPGRADE, please insert bios floppy disk or usb.
I then downloaded the last bios file that had a ROM file in he zip file from MSI website "7680vAE.zip"
    ver 10.E @ 2012-02-16
I extracted the files to the root of my 2GB USB, then plug it in, restarted my pc, and go a message:
"Updating BIOS ......... file not found"
Copy out the ROM file "E7680IMS.AE0" to a FAT32 formatted 2GB USB stick,
I then copy that file and rename it to "E7680IMS.ROM", then Copy it again and rename it to "AMIBOOT.ROM"
With all 3 files on the root of my usb, I put it in one of the 4 use slot on the back of the motherboard, I use the one below the PS/2 plug.
I am still getting that message, about file not found.
(What file is it looking for?, as in the file name & extension)
I also tried the Ctrl + Home, a few times you would see a 2 letter code on the bottom-right corner of the screen, B4/B2 & A2
Now I am getting the message:
"BIOS update is not yet completed, please insert the USB pen drive and reset system."
but it don't not say what file name and extension to name my bios to get it to load or replace the corrupt one.
    Can someone Help ME ?

    OK, Thanks.
I formatted my 2GB USB stick, then extracted the C3.rar file to the USB
the file name was EIVB.BIN put it in my computer and the screen, when from B4, to A2 then it started to update the bios.
After it reach 100% it restarted my computer now I am not getting anything from it,
no display, no keyboard light, no mouse light.
but the pc, turn on like nothing is wrong, no beeps.
Was that recovery BIOS for the H61M-E23?
How can i recover from this?
    Can I do an AMIBOOT.ROM or AMIBOOT.BIN or AMIBIOS.BIN/ROM ?
Can i use an old bios for this board say 7680vAE and rename the .AE0 file to EIVB.BIN and  recover this board ?
    Please Help

None of that is a bios version. We need a link to a copy of your vbios saved to file and uploaded to a file hoster to check if there is a newer version. If not allowed to link yet add a break to the link so it is masked being a link.

UEFI is aGOP compliant vbios that allows to use secureboot/fastboot (Windows 8/8.1). If not using UEFI booting it doesn't matter which you use. Older mainboards with UEFI but not being GOP compliant on the other hand won't work with a GOP vbios and only the legacy vbios allows to use the card.
