MSI R9 290X Gaming Hybrid Switch

I got an MSI R9 290X today and it had a card that said there was a dual bios switch on the card. I checked the spot where the card said it was supposed to be and in fact the whole card and I cannot find the switch. Does anyone know where it is, or if it's actually there at all.

Already planning to do that. The included card made it seem like it was in a different spot. If it had shown the pic in this forum it would have been at lot easier to find.

If you are looking for a UEFI / GOP Vbios for your video card here are a few things we need and there are a few things you need to know.
1.) Vbios versions vary with-in models. This is due to different variations and improvements made in time. In order for us to be able to get you the right VBIOS. We need your serial number. The serial number can be found on a sticker on the bottom of your card or on the box in which it came.
2.) Don't use a vbios provided to another users. Just because you have the same model, doesn't mean you need the same vbios. While flashing the wrong vbios is recoverable, it is still more work. It is fine to post in that thread with your serial number asking if you can use that VBIOS.
3.) If we need to check if thier is a more recent version. We can check your Vbios in one of two ways.
A.) Upload a copy of your current vbios somewhere and give us a link. You can save a copy of your vbios using >>GPU-Z<<.
B.) You can also just use NVFLASH >>Download NVFLASH for windows<<
Syntax:
nvflash /v >rep.txt [ENTER]
This will copy all of the information we need into a txt file you will fine in the folder in which you placed nvflash.
4.) Be aware that gpu-z screenshots or what gpu-z reads out as bios version are NOT of any use for identifying the required vbios version. While it doesn't hurt to add those when S/N and an actual copy of the vbios are also supplied simply just adding screenshots or version readouts will not get you any further and us having to ask for the required informations.

Use the attached.
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0).
Then unpack the previously provided archive (TV308MH_100.rar) and put the included file (TV308MH.100) on that stick.
Rename TV308MH.100 to 100.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also included in the archive on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 100.rom [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.

MSI R9-290X Gaming

I just got the new Gaming Gpu from MSI R9-290X. It one of the fans is spinning slower than the other and sometimes stops spinning all together. This is causing temps of 94C during gaming. Is this behavior normal? I have used AB to put fan to 100% and I still get temps of up to 94C. The fan speed reported is 2900RPM. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would try TigerDirect first, they will probably work with you and cross ship if necessary. I believe they have a return policy of either 15 or 30 days.

MSI R9-290x Gaming - Tim Change

Hello! One day I found that my card running at high temperatures - 94c in BF 4 game. Then I read on the official MSI forums, that yMSI accept TIM change on VGA chip and it does not violate the official MSI 3 year warranty, even if warranty sticker on screw was damaged. Except that was not caused any mechanical damage on PCB or other VGA Card elements during radiator unmount/mount. So, i decided to change TIM. TIM was dry, and i change it. Temps now are 76 in BF4, which is normal, i think. Card is working fine too.
In Furmark in 1920x1080 (no AA) - 94c after 10 min, FAN 100% - it's normal in Furmark, or not?
I just want to clarify, that i didn't lost my guarantee, if i need this in future (i hope, it will not happen).

Problem with my MSI 290x gaming 4g performance in unigine valley benchmark.

First im dutch(netherlands) so sorry for my maybe bad english.
My system is:
Asus p8z77 v deluxe mb
intel 3770k cpu
16gb ram 1866 Corsair
2x ssd 256 gb OCZ
MSI 290x gaming
win7 64bit ultimate.
When i came home with my card i removed my old 7970 and replaced it with my new card.
Put some programs up like gpu-z cpu-z realtemp ext.
Then run Unigine-valley Benchmark with OC tool MSI at 1040 option.
My cpu at 4.2ghz OC
Score Unigine valley v1.0: 61.1 fps-score2558-min fps 30.3/max fps 112.8
Custom settings at 1920-1080 and ultra 8x aa windowed.
Seems ok result.
Now to problem i have.
So next i did (dumb me hehe) i try OC my CPU with All-suit II from ASUS to OC cpu extreme mode which stress test untill stable clock is found.
Got a crash bluescreen and then after few attemps stable 4.3.
Then did new benchmark and my score was alot lower and nomatter what i try my 290x did not pass 60fps any more and score dropped to 2100?
3dmark firestrike gave first time score of 9655 and after my disaster with cpu failed attemp 9200.
My card is stuck at 60fps max it won't get any higher?
The GPU-Z also show PCI-E 3.0 X16@ X1 1.1and when i activate render i see it only change to x16 1.1 i never see gen 3.0.
CPU-Z info motherboard also only pci-express link with x1 and x16
My questions is how can o solve this problem it seems my motherbaord don't reconize my videocard anymore?
Also posible that something with the OC attemp CPU broke something?
I also try change from AUTO to GEN3 in bios but then i get a blackscreen when i boot up it stays backscreen, have to change it switch videocards so i can see my boot again and go into BIOS.
Im at a lost here, hope one of you know a solution or whats my problem?

Msi 290X Gaming Bios question?

I just got a used 290X Gaming for $350 off Amazon. Do the 290X boards usually already come with a UEFI bios or will I have to request it?

The 4G Gamings Bios switch is at the top of the card near the external connectors, the uefi mode bios is the "2" position on the switch, which is toward the rear/power connectors position. Its a pretty tiny switch so make sure your careful and have a good light.

MSI Z87-G45 Gaming and Sapphire 290X, cant get it to work!

Hi, MSI Z87-G45 Gaming and Sapphire 290X, gpu fan is spinning, but black screen, only int. graphic is working. Downloaded all updates, bios 1.7 for mobo.... what else.....Any ideas?

Hi, finally i got my hands on brand new shiny graphics card. The only thing i worry about It's VRM temperature. In BF4 GPU-Z shows VRM temperature1 -111C max VRM temperature2 -68C max. Core 81C max.

Msi 290x gaming - black screen crash

Hi
Recently i bought MSi 290x gaming . After a day i has got first black screen freeze. Only way to turn on computer was unplug it and connect again after 10-20 sec. I try to use different drivers but nothing helped. Sometimes pc worked fine for 2-4 days and them 3-5 crashes in hour. It never happened in a game . always in windows . I tried different psu and nothing change .
I tried msi afterburner , set voltage to constant. change gpu memory clock ..... but nothing changed :(
I make decision to RMA card to the shop but they just send me msg that everything was fine :( any ide what i should do ?

MSI radeon R9 290X gaming artefacts

Hello,
I've bought an Radeon MSI R9 290X twin frozr gaming
Artefacts (little squares) when video memory reach 1900 or 2000Mb in game then game freeze
Artefacts comes when video memory reach 2500 Mb when opening a lot of google chrome windows or IE for example.
GPU stress test pass OK, leo demo from amd for example.
games like tomb raider work ok (not use a lot of video memory)
PC memory verified with memtest booted on usb stick, no error.

Main board MSI Z87 G45 gaming bios V1.9
core i7 4770
16Gb RAM DDR3 gskill 800MHz
Windows 8.1 64 bits
I don't know if it is a hardware issue, bios or driver issue

I use 4 * 4 GB memory (G.Skill XL Series RipJaws X Series 8 Go (kit 2x 4 Go) DDR3-SDRAM PC3-12800 - F3-12800CL9D-4GBXL)
timings are set to auto in the moterboard bios.
I also formated hard disk and install VGA drivers.
So, i've just tried unigine valley, its work fine, Video memory isn't higher than 1400 Mb.
I've open several google chrome in order to use more video memory and artefacts comes again...
I will investigate in motherboard ram timings
