MSI RAID on K8N Neo2 Motherboard - Please Help!

I need to install the windows raid drivers for this motherboard.
I have 2 x 200gb HD's both full of identical stuff (they were previously mirrored).
My drivers disks are miles away in another part of the country. I have searched the internet for hours, searched the MSI site and downloaded hundreds of drivers which claim to work, but some of them don't even run and have no instructions what-so-ever.
I have checked all the other forum posts, but can't make sense of them. I need a simple step-by-step installation guide.
Does anyone know what to do?
I would deeply appreciate some help.

K8N Neo2   MS 7030 Motherboard

That's much better , post a new thread and descibe your problem.
There no MSI staff here , so complaining of the product should be done through the MSI customer service www.msi.com.tw .
Before throwing up eventually right/wrong solutions for you to try please update your post with detailed spesifications of your system and components.
You say you have Neo2 and at the same time ms-7030 .
Important we get this straight in case someone recommends a certain bios update for you.
Neo2 is socket 939 dual channel motherboard and has code name ms-7025.
K8N Neo Platinum (also called neo1 after neo2 was released) has code name ms-7030 .
Witch one do you have .
Harddisks , it's known that certain new disks from maxtor with 16MB cache has problems with all nforce3/4 chipsets.
What type do you have .
Bios version ( essensial to know with what revision of nvraid.rom you used on your raid)
What version are you on , eventually what version have you updated to (if any) .
OS version are you using and what servicepack level.
What nForce chipset version you are on ( 5.03 / 5.10 /5.11 ?)
If you get winrar you can easily make a driver disk from the unified nvidia archive executable by right click on it and select extract .
Then you have the drivers under the ...\winxp2k\ide folder that can be put on a "nvide/nvraid floppy driver disk" if you like to.
Does one of your mirrored disks have errors ? , try them seperate as single disks and boot test apps etc.
If one has errors , format it and recreate the array as mirrored might be the best/easiest solution .
Don't use sata port1/2 if you overclock fsb beyond 225 , it will corrupt the disks . Use sata port 3/4 .

  • MSI 645 ultra xp / 2000 problem please help.

I've got 3 MSI 645 ultra mobos. I've tried every thing i can think off to get xp installed and working. I don't get as far as formating the hard disk in the setup. I relpaced the power supply with a qtec 550 watt power supply (the gold one). i've flashed the bios to 1.9, i've used different hardisks and cables. I've checked the memory PC2100 and 2700. It's a pentium 4 1.5, I've tried a 2g in it as well. I'm using an ATI radeon 7500 but have tried a s3 agp card. All the other components work fine in another machine but not on my 3 MSI boards.
Please help some one out there must have had the same problem. I'll buy the first person who fixes it cakes!!!

I am only using one hard disk at a time. it's set as a master on IDE1 and the CDrom is on IDE2 as a master. should I use cable select?? I also tried the hard disk and CD on ide2 and that did not work either.

  • K8N Neo FSR, Please Help a Newbie

    Hey all,
I'm new to these forums and was wondering if I could get some help or advice.  I currently own an athlon 64 3200+ newcastle with a K8N Neo FSR motherboard.  I have heard that my mobo is basically a platinum minus the luxury of firewire ports, could I be correct about that?  If so, I went to msi.com.tw website to update my drivers and could not help but notice that K8N Neo Platinum has two more updates that whats offered for my FSR, those being CoreCenter 1.7.0.0 and DigiCell 1.03.00.00.  I find corecenter to be useful and am wondering will these two updated versions of the apps work with my FSR, and why would MSI not post the updates in the FSR section.
Also, my board came stock with bios 1.2 and I loaded up windows sp2 and all the drivers and such and everything seems to be working fine to my knowledge, cool n quiet on with cpu around 994 to 1004 mhz, temp readings from bios and sandra all report 36-43 degrees C.  Does that sound right to anyone, because I'm not a fan of bios flashing, would flashing to the newest official 1.4 be any benefit to me?
One last thing, I encountered a problem with a creative usb mouse and do not know the source of the problem or how to solve it, it is the optical mouse lite with a blue scroll wheel and operates fine, but after I shutdown my computer the mouse light is still on, is that normal or is there anything I can do about it besides shutting down my power supply everytime I turn off my computer.
Sorry for the loads of questions, if anyone actually reads this please provide me some input/insight.  Thanks in advance.

MSI K8N Neo FSR Bios V1.2

    Aspire 500 W psu, 12v = 34 amps
    Maxtor 60 gig IDE hd
    52x32x52 cdrw

If you look at the prduct page for the K8N Neo FSR, and choose the BIOS link it brings you to page:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=571&kind=1
Which shows the BIOS' available for the K8N Neo FSR.  Notice that 1.3 and 1.4 are available and that the K8N Neo FSR is considered to be a MS7030 which is the same model number of the K8n Neo Platinum.  From this I surmise that you can use the same BIOS and drivers and all that the Platinum uses and everything should work fine.

  • RAID assistance....Please help

Help, please, I have been unable to solve this one.
I have the K7T 266 Pro2-RU and I have lost my raid in a normal boot of windows, ok in safe mode.
    My specs:
    K7T266 PRO2-RU, 1800 XP+, W2k SP2
    ATI 8500le 128mb
    ONE20GB Maxtor IDE 1 MASTER
    CDROM SLAVE
    CDRW MASTER IDE 2
RAID (Lite) 2 IBM 20 GB
On the RAID set up I have identicle IBM's 20GB each, simple array of RAID 0.
The other day out of the blue the array locks up and freezes the computer.  The next time, it tells me to run chkdsk, I run it until no more errors.  I try to go back into W2k and nothing, will not allow me log in.
The event viewer states no proper reg entires for RAID device.  I download and install the drivers from the MSI site.  Install new drivers. Same thing.
I go into Safe mode, and....everything works.  The array is ok, and the files are safe.
If I disable the array via BIOS no problems, except no 40Gb array.  I have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers with same results.  I think it is a driver problem, but to make sure, I backed up my stuff and reinstalled windows.  Then when all was ok, I wiped and recreated the array, went into windows and nothing, the same lookup as soon as the drivers were used.  But safe mode is ok.
Any ideas?  I liked the array and the extra space, but why would the drivers go flaky all of a sudden
I have no idea what has happened or why.
Thanks for any help you can give.
    Michael
     ;(

I have ran chkdsk and it has repaired some, but even when there are no errors, it is a no go.
I will try some more tonight, but dang It is extremly frustrating.

  • Problems with MSI GeForce 7900 GT/GTO. Please Help!!!

I purchased an MSI GeForce 7900 GT/GTO last summer. At first it was working fine. I would get the occasional automaic restart in the middle of a game, but other than that it was fine. Now, almost a year has past and the product I payed good money for isn't working as it should, to say the least. I get many artifacts in all the games I play. The artifacts are the same in each game, although they more numerous in some then others. The objects in-game are connected by "ropes". There are strange colors on the walls. Sometimes the screen starts flashing different colors and the artifacts become impossible to ignore. I've had to Ctrl-Alt-Delete out of a game numerous times only to be greeted with a flashing desktop. Then I have to do a hard restart. It seems that the problems are getting worse as time goes on. The artifacts were not this bad before, but now I can't play 30 min. of any game without having these graphical artifacts. The glitches are worst in the Tomb Raider: Aniversarry demo and Test Drive Unlimited. I also see the artifacts in Half Life 2 and Rainbow Six Vegas. I haven't overclocked my card at all and my fans are working as they should. The temperature of the card is running at 55 degrees at the moment. I believe during games it goes up to around 65 which I don't think is bad. I have installed the latest Nvidia drivers. I sent an email to customer service explaining to them what the problem was. In the email I asked them to email me back as soon as possible to let me know what information to send. I have yet to recieve a reply and its been almost a week. When I payed for the card I didn't expect that it would fall apart in less than a year. This is just outrageous and I am disgusted with the "customer service" that MSI has to offer.
(Some of the artifacts, such as the flashing colors, couldn't be captured in a screenshot)

have a try with better one, your VGA required at lease +26A on +12V.
get a decent PSU, single rail with high amperes on +12V (30A or more are recommended)

  • Boot up halts on K8N Neo2 Plat. Help!

Strange thing is happening to me lately. On Windows XP bootup, after the Windows loading progress bar screen has dissapeared, and before the login screen, the screen goes black for about 10-15 mins or so (a long time). If you just leave it, it will eventually boot up into the OS.
This is the strange bit. I have found out that if I take out all of my USB devices while booting up, then the problem dissapears. It isnt the case of finding a 'problem USB device' either, because if one usb device is plugged in, it does not boot up, and halts in the black screen state for ages.
Anyone know what this could be?
    Thanks
    Dan

What should there be running and/or how can I reinstall the VGA overclock tool so it'll work again?

  • Overclocking my 3200+ Winchester on K8N Neo2.. Help!!!

Ok ive had my system for over a year now and i wanted to try my hand at some overclocking and so far ive come up with these settings (check sig for details on system)
235mhz HTT Frequency (Front Side Bus)
    10x Cpu Multiplier
Vcore 1.55v (with CPU Vidd at 5% increase incase it needs some more juice)
    166 Memory @ DDR 333 speeds now
    2-3-2-5 1T Timing
    Memory Voltage at 2.65
    4X HT Multiplier
So far its been running nice and stable at 2.35GHz with no problems what so ever. Im also running two Sata Drives on ports 1 & 2, should i switch those back to 3 & 4? but when i had them on 3 & 4 my system sometimes would not detect my 160GB drive on port 4 but it would always see my 80GB Raptor on port 3, what is up with that? I know my drives are fine cause before i got my Raptor i had the 160GB on port 3 with no problems for a whole year, its just when i started to use port 4.
Besides that, what suggestions do you guys have that i should try to see if i can get my system to atleast be up at 2.5GHz? Now ive done a search on previous threads and yes ive looked at the sticky's and even overclocking guides, but i wanna hear suggestions straight from people who have the exact same setup as me...

Ok, after i got home from work i switched my SATA drives to ports 3 and 4 and miraculously i am no overclocked to 2.5ghz!! BUT i have a problem...
Ok to start off, after i got my raptor drive i had my two drives plugged into ports 3 and 4 but sometimes it wouldn't detect my new raptor drive on port 4.. so i switched to ports 1 and 2 with the same cables and all was well. Now, since there back on ports 3 and 4 im overclocked, and when i was stressing my system at 2.5ghz, around 2 hours through prime 95 it shutdown and rebooted from a sever error!! now either thats because my system lost my raptor drive on port 4 or cause the overclock is too high and maybe not enough voltage on my ram..
So right now i have my ram bumped up to 2.7 volts and so far no problem after running prime for 45 min on the new voltages.. i had to stop it though but like i said, so far it was fine..
Now, what are the chances of my system suddenly dropping and losing my raptor drive on port 4 while windows is running? could that have caused my system to screw up and restart running prime after 2 hours? or do you think it was my ram voltages? The only way i can tell if my system is definately not picking up my drive some of the times is when i would sometimes turn my comp on it wouldn't see my drive or after a restart it wouldn't see my drive (that was back when i first got it), and so far it hasn't done that yet..   Oh yeah, way back when i first got the two drives i only had a 420W PSU, recently i bought a 550W with 19amps on the 12 volt rail so maybe that fixed the problem??

  • New Radeon 5770 1GB and old MSI RD480 Neo2 motherboard incompatible?

    Hi,
Am having problems getting my machine to post after inserting a new graphics card: Sapphire Radeon 5770 1Gb.  Have no problems with my old card in the PCI-E slot (X800GTO) - it works fine.  But when I insert the 5770, the machine won't even post.
The core of my machine is ~4 years old, with a MSI MS-7194 RD480 Neo2 motherboard.  I've updated the PSU to a Corsair 650W and as the light on the graphics card is on and ATI recommend a 450W PSU I doubt it's a power issue (and yes, I have attached a PCI-E power lead to the 5770)...
Is the issue that my motherboard is too old? Or is there a newer BIOS for it? I tried the MSI LiveUpdate tool which said there wasn't.
So I'm a bit stumped! Am in the process of putting a new machine together, but can only buy 1 or 2 parts each month - I was hoping to make the most of the graphics card before I had to cough up for a new CPU/Mobo!
All help gratefully received - thanks!
    PS
    Here are my system details:
    Mobo: MSI MS-7194 1A RD480 Neo2
    Bios: 26/2/2006 version (from msinfo32)
    CPU: Athlon 64 X2 3800+
    RAM: Crucial, 4x512Mb
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 1Gb VaporX (no drivers installed as machine won't even post!)
    PSU: Corsair TX650W +3.3V: 24A, +5V: 30A, +12V: 50A. Max combined +3.3/+5: 170W.
    HD: SATA1: WesternDigital 200GB, SATA2: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB.
    DVD-RW Sony IDE0, DVD-ROM Sony IDE1
    OS: Windows XP SP2

There has been an on going problem with that model # in general and that brand & model in particular not working on a wide variety of MB's. On some MB's that have 2 16x slots it will not work in slot 1 but will in slot 2.

  • Should i buy K8N Neo2? ur expriences

hello...im looking for a s939 mobo.. sofar ive set my eyes on the ASUS A8V (orAV8-cant remember) but ive recently read reviews that love this mobo....so im considering buying this instead.
i was wondering, is it adviseable to get the MSI K8N Neo2 motherboard?
are u having/did u have a good exprience with it?
what are the bad things about this mobo?
    thank you
ps: the last time i was here was when i still owned a 865pe neo2... huh, i had a terrible time with that mobo.. im still abit terrified of MSI... how are they're mobos now?

I originally had the K8T Neo - loads of trouble - before that I had the K7N2-Delta - which was a spot onboard too.
I then deflected to Gigabyte's K8NSNXP - It wouldnt work with my memory (corsair twinx bling stuff) - I got seriously peeved waiting for BIOS updates to address the issue hence RMA's my board - got the K8N Neo2 - not a regret since.  PS - Its nearly £50 cheaper - I gots mysef a faster board and a logitech MX700 LOL!
    Love U MSI
I can honestly say I will NEVER purchase any other make of board - this board is soooo sweet - no trouble what so ever.
Would have to agree with thunder though - U may want to hang fire for either the new Nforce4 stuff or VIA's K8T890 chipset (both are PCI express) as they are the way forward.   - only just got my board! - it'll be out of date soon LOL

  • K8N Neo2 with AMD 4200 X2 - Memory config.

Will my AMD 4200X2 allow me to use 4 sticks of 512 MB on the K8N Neo2 motherboard?  I know that there have been issues using 4 sticks on with AMD 64 3500 chips, but I don't know if this still applys to the newer X2s.
Thanks for any info on this.

Quote from: qyx on 25-August-06, 15:00:42
The user manual for the Neo 2 says you cannot do it because it was written before Venice and later cpus, so it is outdated in that it does not recognize that 4 identical dual sided PC3200 dimms will run at 400 and not just 333 with the newer cpus that came out after the user guide (manual) was written.
Edit- LairdD- You miss the point -- you don't have to overclock to do it, you just need identical dimms and the right cpu.
No, qyx, you missed the point, uhh... twice.   My previous post referenced the AMD [26094.pdf] doc on the subject... which you appear not to have read... not the MSI manual.
The newer >=Rev E CPUs have the same speed specs as previous ones on fully populated ranks in both channels.  I was not talking about overclocking in any way or form; what I was saying is that if your memory DIMM spec is overrated, i.e. above PC3200, you may be able to do better than the AMD specs simply because you're then underclocking the memory.  While I haven't tried it I seriously doubt that you can get DDR400/1T with 4 full ranks on both channels.
There's also the point that even if the DIMM mfr has the same identical part number, the chances of getting an exact match on DIMMs purchased a year or so apart is slim.  It's also wise, when considering that a memory upgrade may be contemplated in future, to buy single rank DIMMs if available.

  • K8N Neo2 Forgets BIOS Settings??

I'm having a rather odd problem.  I built a new PC based around the K8N Neo2 motherboard/Athlon64 3500+.  Whenever the switch on the back of the power supply is shut off, and then turned back on, if I don't clear CMOS by moving jumper JBAT1 to the "clear data" setting then back to "keep data" setting, the system won't POST.  The diagnostic LEDs on the DBracket go Yellow, Red, Red, Yellow when this happens.
If I clear CMOS by moving the JBAT1 jumper, then the system will POST and it seems to work fine (although I have to reconfigure the BIOS).  Also, if the power supply itself hasn't been switched off or lost power, I can turn the PC on and off with the power switch on the front of my case and the system will successfully POST each time without having to move JBAT1.
But it's very annoying, because when the power flips off, I have to move JBAT1 to clear CMOS and reconfigure the BIOS to get the PC going again.
Anyone have any clue as to why the board would act this way??  It's frustrating.

Looks like a bios dmi pool corruption or extended PnP system data
    in nvram.
    Try this:
Remove the AC cord from the PSU .
Take the bios battery out .
Set jbat cmos jumper to discharge for two hours .
    After that time period
    mount the battery
    Set cmos jumper to normal
    Connect AC
Turn PSU on (fire up the pc)
    Watch the post screen
You should now get cmos-error .. press F1 to continue .. del to enter bios.
    PRESS DEL
Then do only "load optimized defaults" and save/exit with F10 .
Next boot should post that BUILD DMI POOL SUCCESS , UPDATE DMI SUCCESS .
(after this you can change your other bios settings)
If you still have the same problem after this there must be an error
    with the motherboard itself.
