MSI RX9250-TD128 Problem: Jumbled video at top of monitor after windows starts

I'm trying to intsall my new MSI radeon 9250 128MB video card in my year 2000 vintage Dell dimension 750 series desktop.
I've tried installing all of the drivers provided on the driver cd and I keep getting the problem of a jumbled bar of video displayed at the very top of my monitor once Windows starts up i.e. once display would go to 1600X1400 or whatever.
I am able to boot up in safe mode.
About my computer:
Windows 2000 professional
750 MHz pentium iii processor
340 mb ram
an AGP slot that fits the card (im not sure what type, anyone know how i can check if it is 2x 4x 8x?, i don't think this is the problem though because it is supposed to be compatible with 4x)
note: when i open up the device manager and go under display adapters, radeon 9200 series..  the "general" tab says that there is no driver installed.  However, when I look under the driver tab, it lists the driver that is installed and the various driver files that are installed.
another note:  in the device manager there are two display adapters, "radeon 9250" and "radeon 9250 (secondary)" i tried turning the secondary off and it didn't solve the problem
Also, is there an MSI technical support email that works?  I've tried emailing [email protected] from two different email accounts and I'm getting it returned.
Thank you

  • Big MSI RX9800Pro-TD128 problem

    Hi everyone!
I am a proud owner of a Radeon 9800Pro (MSI RX9800Pro-TD128) and I've got an issue that looks very much (or exactly) like this:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/IvanV/shot0000.jpg
If you failed do recognize it, this is a screenshot from 3DMark03 GT4. It happens with all driver versions I tried (from MSI and from ATI). It used to happen only in GT4, so I wasn't to concerned, but now it also happens in HL2 when AA and AF are turned on (which is also strange, because I didn't use 3D Mark with AA and AF). The card is not overheating and works fine in other situations. My system:
    CPU: AMD Athlon64 3000+
MB: MSI K8T Neo (VIA K8T800 chipset)
RAM: 512MB DDR 400MHz Kingston ValueRAM etc...
    Windows 2000 Professional with SP4, DX 9.0c

Today, after months of having this issue, I solved the problem. Still, I don't understand why this worked, so please someone explain it to me. I found two solutions:
    1) Change AGP aperture size to 256MB. Since I have only 512MB of RAM, things got a bit less smooth, so I was thinking, since things did work from time to time, and guided partly by memory and partly by instinct I
    2) returned AGP aperture size to 128MB, and removed desktop wallpaper, screensaver, custom Windows appereance in Display Properties and it also worked.
I retested all variations several times to make sure, and right now I have little doubt that this is a permanent solution. I only don't know why, so if anyone could tell me, I'd really appreciate it.

  • Problems capturing video in QT Pro - quits after 16 mins

OK, here are the details of the system - MBP, 1.5GB RAM, 10.4.10 and QuickTime Pro - an older, but working Sony DVMC-DA1 (analog to Firewire convertor). Oh, and there is about 30GB of free hard disk space.
What I am trying to do - capture video from a VCR.
I have rebooted the system, flushed all caches, created a new account and still have this issue.
It will capture between 16-17 of DV video and then it stops recording. I can see and edit the media I have captured, but it won't capture anymore then 16-17 minutes before stopping. I have two tapes that I would like to grab the video off of. One is 35 minutes and the other is a little over an hour. This is driving me crazy!
Has anyone else seen this problem? Or have any suggestions?
    Thanks!!!

This seems to be another Apple screw up. They released an update before testing it properly. I have seen several posting in many forums stating the same problem you are experiencing. The only work around I have found to work thus far is to capture the audio and video seperately. As taking twice the time to capture, not just in seperate files. Pain in the arse but it works for me. I am thinking that it is a FCP 4.5 and QT 7.1.5 issue. But of course Apple won't say anything about it. They leave it to the rest of us to point out thier mistakes as usual.

  • Slow Video playback on external monitor

I'm having a problem with video on an external monitor drifting out of sync. The video plays back slow on the monitor but the sound come through fine and the video is playing at a normal speed in FCP. This is only happening with video from FCP, I can play a clip in Color and there's no drift. I've opened the project on another mac and there's no problem. Also, if I set the external video play back to 10 bit the drift is worse than if it is set to 8 bit, as in a 15 sec clip takes 19 secs to play back on the external monitor at 10 bit and 18 secs in 8 bit (not exact times). I've reinstalled AJA LHe control panel and drivers, but seeing as this isn't happening in Color it seems like it must be a FCP issue. I've trashed the FCP prefs (along with AJA and quicktime), what could this be?!?

what video capture card are you using??
have you set render all to FULL, and have you rendered??

Hi, a year ago I build my computer, a gaming PC, and everything works fine until a few days ago, exactly one year after the build, I was on mi pc when suddenly all freeze out, the video and the sound I just had to press the shutdown button, when I start the pc again it just start like 3 seconds and restart infinitely.
After a web search I start to think that the PSU was the problem but after more research looks like the motherboard was the problem so I take out the battery and put it back and start the pc.
The PC starts again, but another problem begin after that there is no video signal. The monitor doesn’t show any image I try to disconnect the Graphic card but nothing I press the button of the Motherboard to reset it but still the same I can’t solve the problem but there is more, after the PC start it stays ON like a minute and then restart again but the second time no restart anymore.
    Any suggestion ?

So now you can boot with no auto restart, but without display?
You tried with IGD (on-board display)?
Maybe try another monitor or cable,
and use only one RAM stick w/ different slots to boot.

  • Msi ti 4200 problems

i installed a msi 4200 agp video card today and have had nothing but problems. on the first boot xp did not try to install new hardware. In the display properties it did not recognize the video adapter. i tried to intsall the drivers from the installation cd but it said it was not the right files and did not recognize the path. on the second reboot no picture after windows boots. i have a gigabyte mb ga-7vrxp and am upgrading from a pci video card. any help would be much appreciated.

Thatz Y... I won't switched to XP until it has really settle down...
lambethduke, I know where you've got things wrong and its a common mistake as I have accidentally did it myself before ... You must have direct right click on your Display adapter driver and un-install... This will cause the screen to go blank during startup whenever you wanna install the drivers again, though you may be able to see part of the windows starting up... Next time, juz un-install the driver by double clicking on the driver and inside the profile click on un-install and this problem will never exist to you anymore...
    All the Best... :D!!!

  • MSI TD512EH installation problem

Hi, I got the TD512EH V116 Ver 2.1 512MB MSI Video card - PCI Express, Nvidia 8400GS based, and installed it in my Windows XP SP3 machine (Pentium D 3.4Ghz, 3GB Ram). The card only works as a basic VGA Card (when I connect a monitor to it, it displays windows but the video is extremely slow, even simple page browsing in Firefox, are slower than when using the bult in intel graphics of the mainboard, which I Switched off in bios before inserting the card).  When I go to Hardware device manager in XP there is a ! next to the 8400GS Card, even tough I installed the latest device driver from here:
    http://www.msi.com/product/vga/NX8400GS-TD512EH.html#/?div=Driver
I tried updating the driver, both from Windows update (it says it can't find a better driver than the one I have installed) and manually pointing windows to the folder of the MSI driver files directly; it says it takes it but after everything finishes the exclamation mark (and the problem) remains. There are no other video cards listed under "Display Adapters". I also tried manual scan for hardware changes. I have no other Video cards in the system (nor other PCI Cards at all, in fact).
Attached are screenshots of device manager screens- in the driver instance ID the last few characters (cropped) are &0&0008. The "File details" window shows all the driver files as ok with a green checkmark.
    The screenshots:
    http://tinyurl.com/msividprob
or if the above link doesn't work: http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/1987/pciexpresscardnotrecogn.jpg
The General tab says "This device cannot start. (Code 10). "
The Resources tab is saying "The device isn't using any resources because it has a problem". (If its not using any resources how does it display basic VGA functionality even? I know its not the onboard Video card because it is not connected to the monitor). Roll back says of course "no previous driver" because I didn't install any other versions.
many thanks in any assistance in solving this thorny problem.
MSI Video Card Model: TD512EH V116 Ver 2.1,
    Firmware: NV116 MS111
    Driver: Nvidia_258.96_XP
Motherboard: Intel D945GNT (latest bios update installed-NT94510J.86A.4131.EB).
Running Windows XP Pro SP3 in admin account. Pentium D 3.4GHZ, 3GB RAM.

News from the front line: after installing and uninstalling video drivers a few more times, I found a file, c:\windows\system32\ati2evxx.dll that refused to be deleted (Access denied) even when there are no ATI cards (nor any other external video cards, I removed them) in the system- Driver sweeper detected this file but couldn't remove it. I used MoveOnBoot to remove it, and now I get a spooky error thus:
***User Environment. Windows cannot load User's Profile but has logged on
with the default profile of the system. Detail, The process cannot access the
file because is being used by an other process***
But my account environment seems to load otherwise with all the icons start up apps etc. Anyway the somewhat good news is that now, when I go to safe mode, the ! code 10 error in device manager no longer shows, only when booting regularly. Any thoughts?  the onboard graphics are Intel 82945G express, and now in regular boot the device manager error for the video driver is different: "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware" (code 37). When I try to do a driver update and point it to the original intel CD that comes with the system it says "could not find a better match".
    Thanks..
    Thanks

  • Trying to clock MSI FX5900 TD128

First of all: HI! (This is my first post here  ) )
I recently got muself a MSI FX5900 TD128. I installed the msi drivers and I saw it is possible to adjust the clock there. It is one (2D) that says 300mhz and one (3D) that says 400mhz. I've tried to adjust the 3D-clock to 450mhz (ultra settings) but when I reboot the pc it is back at 400mhz.
I don't know if I am doing this right and what the difference on 2d and 3d-clock is. Does anybody know?

    Hi Metaman,
You are having the same problem that I had with my FX5200 that the settings were not being saved.  I do not know why this is.
I downloaded the Geforce tweak utility from http://download.guru3d.com/gtu/ this allows you to change clock settings.
P.S the 300Mhz is memory speed
the 400Mhz is the GPU speed
    kind regards

  • MSI 865pe neo2 problem with IDE2 slot

My MSI 865pe neo2 motherboard isn't recognizing any devices plugged into the IDE2 slot.  I originally thought it may have been the cable (I used an old cable pulled from my P3), but even with a new IDE cable nothing gets recognized.  Is there some trick I'm missing, or maybe is the slot broken?  Would updating the BIOS do anything?  Any help appreciated.
    P4 2.4 800fsb
512mb ddr pc3200 (corsair valueselect ram)
    msi fx5200 td128 video card

Thank you very much, that was it.  I'm not very familiar with working with BIOS so I wouldn't have even known to look for that until you mentioned it, then I took a look in the bios section of the motherboard's manual, and saw it under the integrated peripherals section under On-Chip IDE Configuration.  It was set on P-ATA + S-ATA, so I changed it to P-ATA Only and it worked like a charm.
One further question-  if I later on buy a S-ATA hard drive, would I need to change this setting again?  Would I have to give up the IDE2 slot to use an S-ATA connection?
    Thanks again!

  • [Radeon] MSI RX9250-T128

Hi.My name is adrian and i'm from Malaysia. I recently purchased a MSI graphic card, that is the RX 9250-T128. This is an AGP based VGA card. I bought it to upgrade my home PC, which is a Pentium 4 processor, based on a MSI motherboard, which is the MSI 845G MAX motherboard. I bought my home PC way back in 2002.
Now, the problem is, once installed the card in the AGP slot, the computer doesn't boot up. Now, the RX 9250 is said in the system requirements to be compatible with AGP 4x.My MSI 845G has an AGP 4x slot and not an AGP 8x slot.
Even before purchasing the VGA card, I checked out from the MSI website about the requirements and the compatibily of both the card and the motherboard. There was nothing about non-compatibilty of these both the motherboard and VGA card.
so what is the problem and what can be done to rectify the problem???PLEASE HELP!!!!

i oso ... i jz brought the MSI RX9250-T128 2 upgrade my old graphic card.. but duno y fail 2 install the driver tat come along wif the graphic card tat provide by MSI? normally wat  is the problem? i am using the winXP, the window XP din show any ATI 9250 driver? How will like tis?

  • Mega 180 and MSI FX5200-TD128

Hi all and thanks in advance for any help.
I just bought MEGA 180 a some more things, here is my current config:
    Box - Mega 180
    CPU - Barton 2500+
    Memory - 2x256 - 400Mhz from Phoenix Technologies
Disk - 120 Gigs HD - Seagate Ultraquiet
    DVD Rom - Leadtek Silent
PVR PCI Card - PVR 350 from Hauppage
    Everything works fine.
Now I have an MSI FX5200-TD128 Graphics Card and decided to try it out.
With some difficulty I managed to put it in but now .... the computer simply does not start .. well sort off.
Once I hit the power on button three things can happen:
    * Computer starts but the display is not on, and eventually it locks.
    * Computer starts with some gittery on the screen and it locks
    * Computer starts, I hit the del key but I can't even get into the BIOS.
In either case the OS never boots.
    My question is,
    * Do I need to set something on the BIOS before I install the card such as, increase the AGP voltage or something like that?
    * Can it be that my memory is just BAD for it?
    * Can it be that my AGP slot is just BAD?
    * Do I need to setup the BIOS prior to the operation?
    * Is this just that my MSI card is too power hungry, which I think it strange as it is from MSI, its the latest model of its type?
Please help me, and again thanks in advance.
    Nuno
PS: By the way, my BIOS is V3.30 downloaded two days ago from Live Update

    Hi,
Managed to get it working. Here is what I did in case anyone has the same problem as mine.
    1) Take a memory DIMM out, a let one just stay there. This will get you a memory total of 256 Mgs and your system will now boot.
    2) Get to the BIOS settings.
    3) Choose the option concerning DIMM's and performance (third option I think).
    4) In the third option select Manual. This will allow you to set specific options for the memory.
    5) Select Auto in the option concerning CPU / DIMM transfer rating.
    6) Select High Performance in the 7th or 8th option concerning your DIMM settings.
    7) Save the BIOS
    8) Put the DIMM back in
    9) Start your system and voila it works.
    Best regards,
    Nuno

  • MSI NX6800-TD128 Vs MSI K7N420Pro

I got myself a new graphics card today.
Unfortunately everything has not gone that well. Once I installed the new graphics card I noticed a distorted image on the BIOS boot up screens:
Some of the characters would blink.
Strange flickering lines (always on the same areas)
Once I booted up Windows I had similar problems with flickering lines and flickering lines of blocks.
I tried installing the drivers but I the computer would black screen and stay there.
Does anyone have any ideas? Incompatibility with the motherboard? Faulty graphics card? Power supply?
    Thank you.

    Hi guys.
The NX6800-TD128 does not have a particularly big cooler so it fits in perfectly.
There is no cap immediately in contact with the card but I guess they are within ~4mm.
The power cable is inserted into the card.
The monitor cable is fully inserted and I've also tried using the DVI socket with the converter but that gives me the same problem.
I was previously using the onboard video.
I did remove the drivers and run DriverCleaner to remove all traces of the drivers. I don't think it's a driver issue as the problem also occurs on the screens prier to Windows loading. I did read somewhere that the drivers can tell you if your card is not getting enough power so I tried to install the latest WHQL drivers from nVidia's site but unfortunately Windows would black screen and stay there.
I did not add (or remove) anything, including RAM, when I first inserted the card.
I've since removed every PCI card and every drive to limit the power use/conflicts but that has not helped.
Now for the bad news (for me) (I'm worried you guys are going to say that this is the problem and that I'm going to have to go out and spend £50 on a high end PSU):
I've tried two PSUs (they produce slightly different distortions but they both produce them).
    Q-Tec
    "550W PSU"
    +3.3V@20A (Max, (Peak=30A)
    +5V@35A (Max, (Peak=40A)
    +12V@14A (Max, (Peak=20A)
    AOpen
    300W PSU
    +3.3V@28A
    +5V@30A
    +12V@15A
    (+3.3V&+5V=180W Max)
    (+3.3V&+5V&+12v=280W Max)
    Best regards guys.
