MSI tabs in Display properties

whenever i try to use the msi tabs in the display properties i get this error
Run a DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close.
and when i click on the button to see what data the error report contains i get this information
AppName: rundll32.exe    AppVer: 5.1.2600.0    ModName: msicpl.dll
ModVer: 1.0.0.1    Offset: 00004261
I am running winxp and have re-installed it a few times to see if that would fix the problem, then i tried taking the card out and putting it back in, but no luck either, I have the newest drivers as well and nothing works,
any idea anyone???

Hi guys,
I posted something about this exact problem...
Hi everyone...
I just bought an MSI GF4 TI-4200 128 and have the same problem. Running XPPro, fresh install. I was running MSI GF3 TI-200 64 before with same OS and had no problems with either the properties and the MSI Live Update 2. Now, when I try and access the MSI properties in the Display properties, I get that same error (see at beginning of thread) and the window will close. When I try and use the MSI Auto Update, I get the vbios.dll could not be loaded or found... (or something similar) and can't use the Update. I "bypassed" the problem by loading the NVIDIA drivers instead of the MSI ones and it works like a charm now...
I am pretty sure that the MSI drivers would have worked anyhow but I have'nt tried them. BTW, I can access the NVIDIA properties no problem!
I will also send a request to MSI to let them know that I am now aware of this "known" problem and am awaiting a fix for this... I will also check with ASUS for a motherboard compatibility issue.
XPPRO fully patched
MoBo Asus P4B-533 (latest bios, 1007 I think)
512 DDR-2100
Sound Blaster 128
Maxtor 40gigs 7200
Intel P4 1.7
PS 300W Antec
etc...etc...
To Moderators:  Is there a fix for this and if not, could you let me know (by link, email or post) what could be the problem (i.e.: ASUS moBo.)?  I am quite content on using NVIDIA drivers but still, my inquisitive nature is acting up...
I haven't tried yet but will I be able to Flash my VGA bios if I have that problem? (is this VGA card related or a compatibility issue with something else?)

  • The missing msi tab in diplay properties

    i need help with this
dont appear the msi tabs in display properties

    Hi,
I had the same problem but I can't remember exactly how I fixed it :)
You've probably tried these things but here's a couple of suggestions:
    1. Tools menu >> Options >> Other tab >> Advanced Options >> Custom Forms >> Manage Forms
Not sure what to do from there but maybe you can compare the settings with a working computer.
    2. Re-create the Outlook profile.
    Cheers,

  • Display Properties shows 32mb, not 64mb

I was wondering if anyone else has seen this:
On the MSI Information tab of the Display Properties, the memory and type indicate 32MB SDRAM, instead of 64MB DDR as the manual shows.  This is a 64MB card, and it is detected as such by everything else on the system.  All benchmarks show the correct amount and type, 64MB DDR.  The driver doesn't seem to make a difference as I had the same properties whether I used the MSI driver or the NVIDIA.  And yes, I uninstalled the old drivers before I put in the new ones.  Anyone?  ?(

I got everything to work good and wanted everyone to know the results.
First of all, thanks to Deathstalker for all the help, here and in the other threads.
I stole most of this info from the following thread:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_service/forum/viewindex.php?threadid=12236&boardid=9
1st step is to download and install new NVIDIA drivers.  I've used the 41.09 release version from NVIDIA site and the 42.86 beta version from http://www.guru3d.com.  Both work well so far.  Be sure to uninstall the previous drivers before adding any new driver.
2nd step is to DELETE msicpl.dll from the /Windows/system32 folder and the msicpl.ini from the /Windows folder after you install the NVIDIA drivers.
3rd step is to use notepad to make a new file and put in it the following:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
    "Coolbits"=dword:ffffffff
    "NvCplEnableAGPSettingsPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableAdditionalInfoPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableClearViewPage"=dword:00000001
Save it with the .reg extension.  This will open all the extra options in the NVIDIA Drivers including the Core and RAM Speeds for your GF4.
4th step is to double click the .reg file you created and install the registry entries.
5th step is to reboot and enjoy!  Check the Advanced tab in Display Properties to verify the tweak.  It's buried a bit, but it's there.
This method worked great for me!  No more crappy MSI tabs with funky info.  If you need help, send me PM or IM.
    Best of luck!

  • MSI display properties

I just installed a new FX5600XT VTDR 128 on a K7T266 Pro motherboard. I installed the VGA card driver with the disk delivered with the VGA card.
The problem is that I don't have the MSI Information tab and the MSI clock tab in the Windows based display properties.
I did a live update off the VGA drivers and the drivers off the motherboard, but that did not change anything.
    Pls Help

I used to have that problem..you may download as much times the latest nvidia drivers that it won't change..thing is the drivers you installed from the cd which was the same thing it occured with me I tryed uninstalling them from the device manager or driver cleaner and it just didn't do no good..the best thing you have to do is install a new copy of windows and run live update monitor so it selects the drivers and you install it. That should solve the problem.

  • Display properties tab

Well everything is working fine, except...
Well basically I uninstalled the MSI drivers and installed the latest NVIDIA drivers from their website. Now my Display Properties have all the tabs from the MSI dual core center(or another MSI product). The only things I have is the MSI Update tools. I would like to know how to remove these tabs from my Display Properties(where you change your screen saver and wallpaper). I looked in my add and remove programs window and I dont see anything that relates. I would love if someone could tell me how to remove it (whether it be regedit or some other way). I've looked around in regedit and I didn't have much luck. I think when I just directly removed the driver it left it there. But I dont really want to uninstall my Nvidia drivers, reinstall MSI drivers, then uninstall and then reinstall my nvidia drivers... if you get what I mean. Anyhow thanks in advance!
Help is appreciated. BTW, the Geforce 8600GTS is pretty dope, love the card.

    goffy59,
    Always glad to help.

  • No MSI info and MSI clock speed flags in display properties

My problem is really curious. Several days ago I bought new harddrive and made clear instalation of Win98 SE. After that I installed VIA 4 in 1, on-board audio drivers, the new DirectX and then DetonatorXP drivers for my G4 Ti 4600. My problem is that in display properties I miss two flags descrabing my nVidia card - MSI information and MSI clock. System has detected card correctly. In advanced display properties I can adjust OpenGL and Direct 3D settings, AA settings, etc.
My system is stable in every game and benchmarks, so it means that card works correctly. Powerstrip detects core and memory speeds correctly, under adapter options in this program I see 128 MB video memory, AGP 4x enabled, fastwrites enabled - everything is correct.
But in display properties I do not see MSI information and MSI clock speed flags. Why ??? I have also reinstalled VIA 4 in 1 and Detonator XP drivers - it did not help.
Before byuing my new harddrive (80 GB Seagate,7200rpm) I had 30 GB IBM,5400rpm. Windows 98 SE installed on this harddrive detects card correctly too including MSI information and MSI clock speed flags. Now I miss it. Any idea ???
On both harddrives I have installed DetonatorXP 29.42 then I have updated to 30.82
    My system:
    MSI K7T Turbo 6330 3.0
    1,33 GHz Athlon T-bird
    512 MBRAM
    G4 Ti 4600
    80 GB Seagate BarracudaIV 7200rpm
    Win98 SE

I installed the MSI Drivers from the MSI cd. All ok but the clock and info tabs were missing. I upgraded the driver from msi site to 3000 and no tabs.
     X(
Before the GF4 i had a gf2 and i realized i forgot to uninstall the nvidia drivers before installing the new card's drivers. I uninstalled them and reinstalled the msi driver 3000. But no clock nor info tabs.
Can someone help me? Are those tabs needed?
I'm using xp pro, intel p4 1.8 on motherboard intel d850md, 1gb ram.
Also the 3d turbo experience gives me msivga.ocx initialization error.
    Thanxs.

  • MSI tab reports wrong mem size workaround

                           The problem:
The MSI tab in the display properties panel reported 64 megs instead of 128.
I had installed the drivers that came with the CD in the box (v 31.xx i think), I then removed them and installed
detonator v 41.09 from nvidia, that is when i noticed 64 instead of 128.
I tried removing 41.09 and installing 41.07(from MSI), it didn't make any difference, so I went back to 41.09 and I deleted 'msicpl.dll' to remove the MSI tab.
                            The Workaround:
1 Download the Detonator Destroyer (do a search)
2 Remove current Drivers with ADD/Remove Programs
    3 Run Detonator Destroyer
    4 Reboot
5 Choose Standard PCI VGA adapter and reboot if asked
6 Install 41.07 from MSI and reboot if asked
    7 Repeat  steps 2 to 5
    8 Install 41.09
This is what I did and now I'm running 41.09 with the
MSI Tab reporting 128 megs correctly.
If anyone follows these steps without success I apologize for wasting your time.
Keep in mind the Msi Tab it's not a necessity.

Detonator Destroyer is not yet written for XP or 2000.
In your case it worked like a charm because DD supports 98 8)

  • 6600gt display properties not showing nvidia

This is my first nvidia card and I can't get the display properties to change so that the MSI clock and information shows on it. What am I doing wrong? I just got it today and can not figure out what I did wrong.

I had the same problem, here is how I resolved this issue. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few weeks ago I had posted that the DOT tabs on my display properties had vanished and being the smart guy that I think I am the only way of resolving this issue was to uninstall SP2. After removing SP2 my DOT tabs were back, I chalked this up to another program that wouldn't function correctly with SP2, I also posted to another forum member who had a similar problem and offered my advice as to resolving this issue.
I would like to apologize to anyone who may have taken my advice and uninstalled SP2 to recover the vanishing DOT tabs. I can promise anyone who cares that before posting again I will do a better job of fixing my own before I try to fix yours.
If you haven't fallen asleep yet reading this I will tell you how I solved this problem. I reformatted my drive reinstalled XP Pro with SP2, updated all drivers, my system and my DOT tabs are functioning happily together.

  • Update display panel from last nvidia driver with MSI VGA OC display ...

    Hello,
I have a MSI NX7600GS under windows XP and I've update the last nvidia driver for ...
But I loose my original MSI VGA OC display tweaking panel in windows xp standard display panel ...
How can I update display panel with MSI VGA OC display tweaking panel and the last nvidia driver ?
     ???

Quote from: AaronYuri on 29-March-07, 23:19:28
    Easy. Manually update the drivers.
    Go:
My Computer > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager > VGA card > Right click > Properties > Driver tab > Update driver find the folder with the ForceWare driver > Click OK. Your done.
You'll have to extract the drivers out of the .exe that they come in firstly mind.
I want to keep my latest downloaded nvidia drivers and add official MSI OC tweaking in windows xp display panel, so ... you asked me to find the folder with the ForceWare driver : last (from nvidia) or previous (from MSI's CD driver) ?
And how can I extact the drivers out of the .exe without launching install procedure ?
    Thanks ...

  • Cannot set resolution with gnome-display-properties

    Hey all!
After full system update my external display does not get detected/recognized properly by gnome-display-properties
Though before upgrade it worked just fine!
Tried to downgrade hal and xorg-server but without any success.
    Any ideas how to fix?
    Thanks!

I have the same problem. I do, like You, own a ASUS P4S8X motherboard and a MSI (Ti4800SE-VTD8X(MS-8900))videocard.
Because it was a brand new system i installed everything from scratch, so installed the MSI drivers for the videocard. Afterwards i thought i that it would be better to download the latest nvidia drivers. Since that time i have the same problem with the property settings of the videocard, Ghost Recon (original and supplied version) does not work anymore as goes for liveupdate of msi.
There is a solution but i think it is CRAP. You have to uninstall nvidia drivers and reinstall the original msi drivers.... bla bla bla... Why is it that there are a lot of known errors with msi/nvidia drivers in conjuntion with the liveupdate, supplied games and with the settings?? I would like to see a (driver)update from msi which is for mortals. I'm not the hacking and phreaking guy, and so are more. I have spent a fortune on this card so MSI get started!!!!!!

  • Missing Display Properties

    Hi,
Not sure how but all the tabs, except background, are missing on my Display Properties in XP Pro. I've checked in regedit and all have 0 as Value Data and I am logged on as Administrator and not on a network. The strange thing is they are all showing perfectly when I boot in SAFE mode - any ideas greatly appreciated.

    Spyghost,
Set your desktop resolution to 16Bit and remove any files you have on your desktop.
No need for you to keep rendoring your desktop in the background while playing a game.
Then in the settings I would do these tweaks:
    Performance & Quality Settings
    Performance - Aggressive
    Antiailiacing - Off
    Anisotropic Filters - Off
    Direct3D Settings
Enable Fog Table Emulation - On
Mipmap Detail Level - Best Performance
    More Direct3D
Vertical Sync Mode - Always Off
Render no more than - 5 Frames Ahead
    OpenGL Settings
Default Color Depth - Use Desktop Color Depth
    Buffer-Flipping Mode - Auto-Select
Vertical Sync - Off by Default
As for the overclocking section, you can use it at your own risk. For now run without overclocking.
    Take Care,
    Richard

  • Index tab not displaying in RoboHelp HTML

I'm using Robohelp HTML version 8.
When viewing a topic properties, the General and Advanced tabs are displayed, but I haven't found how to display the Index tab in this version.
Is this option not available in version 8?
    Regards,

Hi Cecil27 and welcome to the RH community.
Are you only seeing those two tabs? You should be seeing others as well (e.g. Status, File, See Also). Also where is your project located? If it is on a network drive, move it to a local drive and see if the problem still occurs.

  • Glossary checkbox selected but Glossary tab not displayed

i've created a html help file (RH 2002) and added "glossary
    terms".
To display the glossary tab, i even selected "Glossary" check
box in the Tripane Tabs and windows (HTML Help window properties).
I even added the dll file (HHActiveX.dll) in to my help folder
which was suggested by the help tutorial.
Still my glossary tab does not get displayed.
But when i created a new project and apply all these settings
(without even adding the dll file), the glossary tab gets
displayed....i do not know what's really happening in my existing
project. I've checked all the settings....any guidance please....Is
there anything i need to check further....

    HI usureka
Unfortunately, it's not as simple as just having the .DLL
present. You will also need to have it
registered with Windows. If you look in the RoboHelp help
system, there are instructions for how to register the file. They
    say:
    Registering HHActiveX.DLL
This information applies to Microsoft HTML Help projects.
If your Microsoft HTML Help project includes an online
glossary, browse sequences, or WebSearch, a special file named
HHActiveX.DLL needs to be registered on end users' systems to
    support these features.
The following steps help you distribute HHActiveX.DLL to your
end users and manually install HHActiveX.DLL, if necessary.
    To distribute HHActiveX.DLL:
Open Windows Explorer and browse to your RoboHelp program
files folder (by default, this is located in C:\Program
    Files\RoboHELP Office\RoboHTML).
    Right-click HHActiveX.DLL and select Copy.
Browse to the location of your .CHM file and paste
    HHActiveX.DLL into the same folder.
Distribute HHActiveX.DLL with your .CHM file and any other
files you are distributing with your Help system.
To manually register HHActiveX.DLL:You can provide these
instructions to your end users if you are distributing
    HHActiveX.DLL with your Help system.
Click the Windows Start button, then select Run.
    In Open, type the following:
regsvr32 <path> hhactivex.dll (specify the path of the
    HHActiveX.DLL)
    Click OK.
    Tips:
You only need to distribute HHActiveX.DLL if you are
distributing a Microsoft HTML Help system that includes an online
    glossary, browse sequences, or WebSearch.
    Cheers... Rick
