MSI TV@nywhere problems

I just got my MSI TV@nywhere in today and i have a problem. I installed the MSIPVS Drivers then i try to install the InterVideo MSIPVS and i follow the instructions. It then asks for my name, company name, and a serial number. I looked everywhere for a damn serial number and the only place i could see was the S/N on the UPC label that came on the box. But, that doesnt work. What am i suppose to do?! I also dont think the MSIPVS drivers i installed actually installed! PLEASE HELP  ;(

Just plug the video composite (yellow from the xbox) into the composite in on the card, then go to Radioshack and buy the folloiwng: 2 x Composite couplers & A cable the has 2 male RCA (usually red and white) and on the other end is a stereo 1/8" Headphone jack. This will allow you to hook the Right and Left audio out from the Xbox, into the couplers, then plug the RCA's from the other cable into the other end of the couplers. Now plug the 1/8" Stereo headphone jack into either the line in on the TV card, or directly to the line in on your sound card. Start the MSIPVS and fire up your Xbox.

    Hi.
i am new to this forum. Im having a problem with my MSI TV@NYWHERE Pro card ( http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=132&prod_no=1396 )
on Windows Vista Home premium eidition.
I installed the drivers and Hypermedia center on wondows xp where it was running fine.
Thereafter ,  installed Windows Vista home premium edition, installed drivers for the tv card and then installed Hypermedia Cnter , but upon running the Setup Wizard in the Hypr media Cnter , it gave the error... Cannot Set Capture Device /(1000). In the device Manager, the tv tuner card was installed and written device is properly installed and working. However on other 3rd party TV Softwares like Cyberlink Power Cinema and Windows Media Cneter, the tv card is working fine and i can view tv on these softwares but Hypermedia center gives the above mentioned error.
I want to run tv on the Hypermedia Center because of its ease of use.
Kindly help me sort out this problem, ve searched in forums but cudnt find an answer yet.
    thanks.

I had the same problem, all the PCI cards on my vista installation were not recognized under the device manager.
It's a vista problem. BUT THERE'S A SOLUTION, found it on some bb:
    http://www.tkarena.com/forums/windows-vista-arena/33197-vista-pci-problems-2.html
    1. Open command prompt (Administrator)
    2. Type the following
    bcdedit /set CONFIGACCESSPOLICY DISALLOWMMCONFIG
    3. Exit command prompt
    4. Reboot
I was only able to execute this command after doing this:
    1. Start>Control Panel>User Accounts
    2. Click on User Accounts
    3. Turn User Account Control on or off
    4. Turn it off
    5. Restart
    6. Type in the command at the command prompt ( use windows search on the bottom right above the windows start button, although it doesn't even say start anymore, it's just a windows sign)
    7. restart
    8. optionally after the computer recognizes the card, set the the User Account Control to ON again after the card installs.
Crazy, but it worked for a lot of ppl
    good luck!

  • MSI TV@nywhere A/D problem

Hi, I have been having problems with my MSI TV@nywhere A/D card. I downloaded the latest driver (It stopped working properly) and tried to install it but I said I had the latest version of AVhybrid and refused to install. So I uninstalled AVHybrid and tried to reinstall it but I said it had a problem with AVhybrid and refused to install. So I downloaded the MSI TV@nywhere V1.1 drivers and it installed. I then tried to install the other drivers but it said that I had the latest AVhybrid and refuses to install the drivers. It says it cannot find any devices to update.

    i've got the same problem.
TV @nywhere A/D 1.1 PCI card that wont show Digital TV in Hyper Media Center Application. It shows analog TV but no Digital.
Did you get a solution for your card or is it a lemon?

  • MSI TV@nywhere MASTER PCI TV Tuner card FAQ

So you’ve just decided to add a MSI TV@nywhere Master card to your PC, you’re gonna need some help installing it then!! Before you continue, I recommend you download the Unofficial New Drivers in the other sticky, to avoid any heart (and brain!) ache.
For best results also, you should be running at least DirectX 8.1. This is included on the driver CD, or you can download the latest version from Microsoft's DirectX Page. If you have a P4 which supports Hyperthreading, you will also need at least Windows XP SP2, otherwise you will have to disable hyperthreading in BIOS.
You should also be in the habit of having the latest drivers for your video card, audio card and motherboard chipset; this can also avoid any future TV software failure. And make sure you regularly run Windows Update (or use the Automatic Update feature) to keep your Windows clean and up-to-date. And also remember when installing new drivers or software, if the installer suggests you restart the computer then do so, before you install anything else! Drivers not installing correctly are common causes of problems, especially with this card!
    INSTALLING THE HARDWARE
I’m presuming you’re familiar with the concepts of building and upgrading PCs, so I won’t go into too much detail on obvious stuff (like “remove the side panel of your case, locate a free PCI slot…”).
Fit the TV@nywhere Master card into a free PCI slot. If you didn’t get one with it, you’ll need a CD-audio lead from somewhere (the thin grey lead). If you have one connected between your CD drive and your soundcard CD-Audio In connector, then use that, any version of Windows after 98 supports digital audio extraction, so it is not needed there now. Connect one end of the audio lead to the 4 pin header on the TV@nywhere card and the other to the AUX input on your soundcard (or motherboard if using onboard). If you are installing the Mega TV Tuner in a Mega series barebones, connect it to the TV audio input on the mainboard to the rear. Don’t worry about using the 3.5mm jack plug lead to connect tv card audio, we don’t need it now, doing it this way.
    CONNECTING YOUR TV SIGNAL
Depending on your global location, this may vary. Either way you need to connect either a aerial (ANTENNA) or cable (CABLE) to the CATV connector on the card. Someone will no doubt clarify this for me, but cable is for US-type cable, which doesn’t need a decoder box. Most people will be using the Antenna I’m guessing. Your choice of CABLE or ANTENNA needs to be remembered, you’ll need this later.
You will not be able (or have limited success) in connecting a video recorder or set-top box to the CATV connector. Instead you will need to use the Composite or S-Video connector, and connect the audio source either directly to the soundcard or to the Line-in on the TV card.
    INSTALLING THE DRIVER
Don’t use the driver on the CD. Download the latest driver from the MSI download page. If you are a Mega series user, make sure that Windows has been installed onto the C: drive. If not you’ll have to reinstall, and disable the USB controller in BIOS to prevent the card readers becoming the C: and D: drives. This also causes problems later.
I would advise temporarily disabling any anti-virus programs at this point, to avoid any complications.
When you start up after first installing the card, cancel any Found New Hardware wizards that appear. OK, so extract the contents of the downloaded ZIP, and run the PVSSetup.exe file to install the drivers. Once this is complete, RESTART your PC and the drivers will be installed for the new hardware found.
Check in Device Manager, there should be four new hardware listed under Sound, Video and Game Controllers related to MS8606. If you see any with the (?) next to them, you might need to try the card in another slot.
    INSTALLING THE MSIPVS TV SOFTWARE
If you wish to use other TV recording software other than MSIPVS then please feel free to do so.
MSI do not make their own software. At least not all the time. MSIPVS is a rebranded version of Intervideo’s WinDVR software, with extra features added such as network streaming for TV@nywhere. Some people love it. Lots of people hate it. Generally most people who have posted here hate it. People who love it tend not to post if they don't have problems.  The people that hate it generally mess initial settings up, which can cause problems when they try to change it. The more patient of us will always get it eventually right!
Install the MSIPVS software. Easy as that. Its setting it up correctly that’s the tricky part. Listed below are the main things to look for when performing initial setup. If you are unsure about anything else then read the manual! Only a complete genius would dare install any unfamiliar hardware without having the manual handy for reference - how do you suppose I learnt anything?
    Device
    Video Input:
"Device" is always the Conexant Cx2388x Video Capture"
"Source" - select TV if you are connecting your signal to the CATV connector (antenna or cable), select S-Video or Composite if using these instead
"Standard" - set this to your local TV standard, eg if in UK set to "PAL-I". if unsure, do a Google search and find out!!
If you don't set these correctly you won't receive any channels and/or they will appear incorrectly.
    Audio Input:
"Device" will be your soundcard or onboard audio device
"Source" will be the connector your TV card audio output is connected to, this will be "TV" on Mega series, otherwise check!! If you connected the internal lead to AUX on your soundcard or mobo, then set it to "AUX". If you used external lead to connect to Line-In, this will be "Line-in" etc etc.
If you don't set these correctly you may or may not hear audio while watching live TV, and you will hear no audio on recorded TV.
    TV
    Tuner:
"Input" will be Antenna if you have an aerial connected, or Cable if you are connected to unencoded cable TV.
"Country or Region" - if need to explain this one then maybe you shouldn't have this card!
    Channel
Now we will see if your settings and TV signal are good! Tick the Freescan box, and then click on Autoscan. This may take a while, and for a short time it may appear that the program is doing nothing. Patience! It will soon start, and then pick up any available channels it can find.
Make sure you have a good strong signal if you are using an aerial, otherwise TV@nywhere won’t pick up as many channels. UK viewers – just using a simple set-top aerial and signal booster, I could even receive Channel Five (or “five” as it is known now!)
So at this point now, if all has gone well, you should be able to watch and record TV on your PC!                                     If it hasn't...

"I've lost my CDs and MSIPVS needs a serial number to install!"
MSI in their wisdom printed the serial key for MSIPVS on the actual CD. This serial key is the same printed on EVERY CD. Which kind of defeats the object in my humble opinion. Anyways, the answer can be found in this post: MSIPVS requires serial number!
"When installing MSIPVS, the program hangs then shows a message saying "remote procedure call failed" "
If you are a Mega user, you have installed Windows onto a partition other than C:. You will need to reinstall Windows, making sure you disable USB controller in BIOS, so that the card readers do not take up C: and D: drives. Upon first restart (after Windows has created partition), you may re-enter BIOS and enable USB controller before Windows continues installing itself.
"MSIPVS installs, but when I start the application I get an error message "WinDVR has caused a problem and needs to shutdown" "
hpkuo credits this to sizzle in his hints and tips thread, but I'll elaborate a little. The problem is caused by QuickTime codecs installed by Nero 6.3.1.15. It is unclear whether later versions of Nero were fixed, but earlier versions should be okay. "A "quick fix" is to rename the files "NeQTADec.ax" and "NeQTVDec.ax" in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\"."
Another alternative suggestion is to uninstall the codecs from the registry. I found this solution in another forum for another TV card with same problem:
Go to Start > Run (or press Windows key + R) and enter:
    regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeQTADec.ax"
    regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeQTVDec.ax"
The only consequence seems to be that Nero Vision can’t decode Apple Quick time format after this (something I can live with)
If you do require QuickTime codecs to be installed, there is the Quicktime alternative available from here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm . Or you could just use an earlier version of Nero.
PS if you are using a non-english setup of Windows, then the above paths will relate to how windows translates on your PC - ie subsitute Program Files etc for your local translation
"I have connected the external audio lead to the Line-In (blue) jack on my mobo, and set it correctly in MSIPVS, but I hear no TV sound"
If your mobo supports 5.1 speakers but only has three jacks on rear, the Line-in and Mic jacks have been configured to act as Rear Speaker and Center/Sub outputs. If you have only two speakers, they should be connected to the green Front Speaker jack. You will need to go into your audio hardware's configuration panel / Windows Audio Device Properties to correctly configure the rear jacks.
The other alternative is to use the internal audio connector - simply use a CD-audio lead to connect it to the AUX or CD internal connector on your mobo or soundcard. CD audio leads (the analog grey lead from your CD drive to the soundcard / mobo CD audio connector) are redundant now, as Windows now uses digital audio extraction through IDE channel. Make sure you set the audio signal correctly in MSIPVS to match this.
"When I start up Windows I can hear a hissing like "static" / the radio is playing"
One issue that was fixed in the latest Drivers; if that still doesn't work then the Radio volume is not muted at Windows startup. I'll let hschroed take over here:
"Both MSI Radio and MSI PVS, unmute the TV card at program start, and mute the TV card at SUCCESSFUL program exit (remember we are not talking about the soundcard mixer state here). What this means is as long as a single program start and a single SUCCESSFUL program exit takes place, the TV card tuner will be muted, regardless of what the soundcard mixer audio source states are. If the PC is rebooted (without a PC power-off), for whatever reason, while the MSI Radio or MSI PVS program is executing (a successful exit has not been performed), the TV card will remain in an unmuted state until the next startup and successful exit of either of the two programs.
The TV card mute/unmute status is carried over a reboot without PC power off. What this means is that after a PC power on, once the TV card has been properly muted by a start and successful exit of the MSI program, the TV card mute/unmute status should be in proper synchronization with the applications (regardless of the soundcard mixer status), as long as the PC is not powered off. (Romulus mentions computer coming out of standby. I did not test that scenario but I would expect that if going into standby means power is stopped to TV card, the effect would be similar to a PC power off)."
"My regular TV receives all 5 channels (even Channel Five!), but when I connect aerial to TV@nywhere I only get 3"
Common to all TV tuner hardware (not just MSI's!) is the need for a good strong signal. A moderate signal might appear okay on a regular domestic TV, but might not be strong enough for the TV tuner hardware. Consider investing in a good signal booster, or getting your aerial changed.
Consequently, I have also learned today that TOO strong a signal is bad for TV tuner cards, as soon as I know more I'll let you know...
"I have connected my VCR to the CATV connector, but it does not appear when autoscanning."
"I cannot receive any channels when I connect my Sky box to the RF (CATV) connector."
Thanks to a wonderful technology called "Macrovision" protection, many VCRs and satellite/cable boxes won't work in this way by connecting them using their RF output. Anyone who gets a result is very lucky. There's always the Composite and S-Video In connectors to try. But either way, the TV@nywhere card won't scan all their channels, you'll still have to change them manually.
"Windows XP Media Center says that my "tuner hardware is malfunctioning or not installed" but I have installed the latest TV@nywhere drivers from MSI"
Neither the Vox or the TV@nywhere cards are compatible with MCE2005. MCE2005 requires an analogue TV card capable of hardware MPEG2 encoding, or a software DVB-T (digital) card that already receives an MPEG2 video stream over-the-air.
You can however still use the Vox or the TV@nywhere using the MSIPVS software outside of the MCE2005 application.
"MSIPVS keeps defaulting my location back to Afghanistan, even though I set it to US / UK/ Sweden / Latvia / Kazahkstan"
You will need to reinstall the drivers and software due to a glitch. Uninstall MSIPVS and the tuner drivers (with its PVSSetup.exe setup program) then restart your PC, and ignore the Found New Hardware wizard. Install the tuner drivers with the PVSSetup.exe program, then restart your PC. Then install MSIPVS, restart your PC and you're good to go again!
"Where can I find these "Unofficial New Drivers" that people keep referring to here?"
The "Unofficial New (BETA) Drivers" became obsolete when MSI officially released them. You can find them on the Product Support page for this card, as they are now the latest drivers. MSI TV@nywhere Master product page

  • MSI TV @nywhere Completely Worthless?

So I installed the 8606 drivers which were hard as heck to find on their website, since it has 8786 or whatever as the main drivers. Anyways, installed them, installed pertinent software.
    Problem:
I can't change channels. It does a full scan, looks everywhere, and even the channel # changes, but it stays at #1, and neither the image nor the sound change, it stays fixed a the first channel. Windows device manager has no problem .
    Problem:
Its mono, I've heard others have this problem, but I frankly don't care.
    Problem:
Virtualdub, other things don't capture RAW AVI at 640x480 YUV9. Everyone else seems to be able to do it with other cards. Any idea?

    Ahhhh NOOOO :(.
Are you guys saying that the MSI TV@nywhere is NOT stereo? That it can't play stereo sound? Cause I'm only able to get mono on mine at the moment and I've been playing around with it for a while to enable the functions.
I can't even get the remote to work :(.
    I don't get this.
It says that it's stereo on several sites and some seem to be able to get it. I don't know :(.
Can anyone help me with this? I don't have the MASTER version but the other one. At the moment, I'm only able to get the sound on one of my speakers at a time :(.

  • MSI TV @nywhere A/D 1.1 - no digital TV (only analog)

Hi, I have the MSI TV @nywhere A/D 1.1 PCI card and cant get Digital TV to show up in the Hyper Media Center no matter what I try.
I've seen a few other threads of the same nature with no fix for this so please dont flame me for "not searching"...
My card is this one > http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1283&maincat_no=132&cat2_no=261
I've tried the latest drivers from the MSI website (from here > http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=132&prod_no=1283) as well as the latest version of HMC but still no Digital TV in HMC - only analog. When I run HMC and do the setup wizard, it detects the card as analog TV only and doesnt give me any options for Digital TV viewing.
I even tried using the software for the previous TV @nywhere card and actually got Digital TV to show (allthough not that well) so I dont think its a fault on the card.
Can anyone help me get Digital TV running in HMC?
    Thanks

    i've got the same problem.
TV @nywhere A/D 1.1 PCI card that wont show Digital TV in Hyper Media Center Application. It shows analog TV but no Digital.
Did you get a solution for your card or is it a lemon?

  • MSI TV @nywhere Stopped Working

Ok, so I got my MSI TV @nywhere about a week and a half ago, great card. Nice quality etc. Now all of a sudden it doesn't work! It came with WinDVR, and now when I load it up I get an error when the TV should pop up (this program has encountered a problem and needs to close). So I reinstall it. Nothing. I Uninstall it, and clean the folder out then install. Nothing. I reinstall the driver for my card. Nothing. I remove everything from the card in the device manager, uninstall WinDVR completely, take the card out, boot up, then shut down and put the card back in and install everything again. Nothing. ARGH! I download the trial for Power VCR II or whatever just to see if it's WinDVR with the problem. But Power VCR can't detect any channels! It says MSI TV @nywhere as the TV Tuner (so it knows it's there). WHAT THE BLOODY HELL IS WRONG!?!?!?
    Please help!

I do beleive the MSIDVR is another re-badged InterVideo product from MSI... they are sooooo prone to this type of error it's not funny.....
In fact, I can almost bet you that if you get that message again and click the "more info" link you'll see the problem in the Windows "C" Library file called "MFC42.DLL".
I myself did have the exact same problem with WinCoder, another MSI released InterVideo product... and I received the same sort of strange result. I am led to believe that there is a major issue that combines a driver error and InterVideo's software.... I posted my "reply" to a previous article located at:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_service/forum/viewindex.php?threadid=2660&boardid=9&styleid=1
Too much to re-post, have a look.

  • TV@NYWHERE PROBLEM...........FED UP NOW

well i guess this problem must have been faced by many memebers here.........................
Actually, i have MSI TV@NYWHERE(not master)..and having the old version of msipvs(windvr 2)...which is too old for my style. .
I trid to install WINDVR 3 then...but it wont detect the tv tuner card....no picture or noise comes..
I tried another program and the problem remains.
    What should i do????any idea.. .
    There's another question. .
I saw that the msi website also has the drivers for tv@nywher master, and the new msipvs..can i download th tv@nywhr-master or plus drivers and software and have it successfully working with the old tv@nywher..
    Please solve these probs..

the tv@nywhere is an old card now, and i doubt if the new MSIPVS is designed to work with it
you can try contacting MSI if you need help, but i would stick to using the old MSIPVS if that worked for you, along with your old drivers for TV@nywhere (not Master)
MSI drivers and MSIPVS for TV@nywhere are found here:

  • READ this: MSI TV @nywhere Plus + Dscaler

My Pinnacle pctv pro has gone ( I suspect overheating).
Used Dscaler for tv (ecxelent picture, ultra fast channel switchig) and VDub for recording (Huffyuv lossless codec).
It was super card. On differnt forums I read:this card is good, this card is peace of  ....., but I think that every card is good as long it has good software.
Dscaler pulls maximum of the card out. For me is one of the best programs ewer written. :biggthumbsup:for the author !!
So I decided to buy something cheap. I bought MSI TV @nywhere Plus about 4 monthes ago.
Installation go smooth, MSI TVR works without problems, but TV picture was, like I ecxpected,  not even close Dscalers.
After many ours, managed to work it with Dscaler 4.1.15.
    Settings:  Card   Asus 7131D
                  Tuner  Philips TDA8275
For each channel choose right Format ( for me Pal-B) and frequency.
Picture is on channels with good reception like watching DVD, but channel switch is a little bit slow ( the card is not directly supported).
Note - Dscaler is just for watching, for recording is original Msi Tvr more than good.
I had problem to use Dscaler and Msi tvr together ( Msi tvr reports error - list index out of bounds), but i solved it -
send shortcut C:\Program Files\MSI\TV@Anywhere Plus\TVR\MSITVR.exe to desktop and run it from there.
Remember - dont ecxpect miracles with MSI TV @nywhere Plus but for this money ( 3 x cheaper then was my pctv pro), must say that MSI TV @nywhere Plus  is ecxellent card.
Hope, that I helped anyone with this.

glad you're enjoying it! i don't use my TV@nywhere Plus much, apart from to use it to play my Nintendo GameCube, but i think its an all round better solution than the TV@nywhere Master it replaced (as well as being much cheaper too). however, once you go down the Digital TV route, you'll never go back to analogue TV again

  • MSI TV@nywhere intermittant sound

    Hi Guys,
When I watch TV on my MSI TV@nywhere card, everything works perfectally fine, except that sometimes the audio cuts out every so often and becomes irritating having the sound turn on then off. I've tried numerous thing from dissabeling stereo to using a nother program all together. It only does this sometimes.
Does anyone else have this problem or know a solution?

I had this problem - sound would cut out every few minutes. Changing channels would restore it, but it would cut out again a few minutes later.
After re-installing the complete sytem from the OS up, things are a lot better. I made a point of NOT installing Win XP Service Pack 1 until after I had everything working as I read a few posts about this causing problems on the Showshifter website.
It seems the drivers for the card crash when some other program launches. Try disabling your virus checker if any, and / or anything else you think might be running - particularly anything in the notification area.
    Grum

  • MSI TV@nywhere support for linux?

    Hi,
i'm interested in the MSI TV@nywhere - it looks wonderful. Would anyone know if the linux support is planned for this card?
    thank you,
    keifir

I had problems with MSI but it took 3 e-mails and days of uninstalling and reinstalling the 3 MSI fixes with the pvs software! Somehow someway I got the mix right. My only problem now is sound cuts out when I change chanels,to fix I need to shut off and restart pvs!!! This was the 22nd of April 2003! Try the new fix patches see if its any better.
No i dont work for MSI but they did help-just make sure the windvr is first then play with the tunerdriver and tunerdriver patch! It works...

  • MSI TV@nywhere E-Duo Windows 7 drivers

I own tv tuner card MSI TV@nywhere E-Duo. My PC OS is Windows 7 64bit. I use Windows Media Center to watch live tv and my pc everytime completely locks up in approximetely 10 minutes (only hard reset works). Same problem exists with Windows 7 32bit. In both cases (Windows 7 32bit, Windows 7 64bit), it is clean installation only with tuner and display drivers. I also tried replace windows deafult codecs (K-Lite) and tried third party application Total Media but with no change. I think that the main problem is the driver.
    Tuner driver: http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=132&prod_no=1432
    ATI Catalyst 10.9
    Hardware:
    MSI DKA790GX Platinum
    AMD Phenom II X4 940BE
    Kingstone HyperX 4GB (2x2GB)
    HDD 2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 - 500GB in RAID 0
    Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4890 1GB
    Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music

Please test the card in another PCI-E Slot, just to see what happens.  Also, run DPC Latency Checker to find out if there are any Latency Issues going on in the background.  For testing purposes:  Remove the X-FI Card and test with onboard Audio.  Perhaps there is a conflict with the Creative Card.
What is your current BIOS Version (Mainboard)?

    PLEASE HELP.

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
The updates for the Geforce2 are to provide high resolution monitor support.
Though specifically stated as for use with Apple monitors, I would try updating the ROM of the Geforce first.
VGA may not work with the widescreen monitor, but DVI might.
There is no guarantee that the card will work with the monitor, but with the update, it should output digital resolutions of up to 1920x1200.
Using an ADC to DVI adapter might be the best way to go (with the update as well).
