MSI TV@nywhere support for linux?

Hi,
i'm interested in the MSI TV@nywhere - it looks wonderful. Would anyone know if the linux support is planned for this card?
thank you,
keifir

I had problems with MSI but it took 3 e-mails and days of uninstalling and reinstalling the 3 MSI fixes with the pvs software! Somehow someway I got the mix right.My only problem now is sound cuts out when I change chanels,to fix I need to shut off and restart pvs!!! This was the 22nd of April 2003! Try the new fix patches see if its any better.
No i dont work for MSI but they did help-just make sure the windvr is first then play with the tunerdriver and tunerdriver patch! It works...

  • Why Apple does not offer support for linux?

    We all know the history of Apple. It clearly shows a trend to be open source, excepting for the licenses they share with Microsoft. In my personal case, I love open source because it has solved several of my problems. Just to share this with everyone, I am the network manager of a educational institution and I used to have my servers running on windows platform. Since we used to buy it all from Microsoft, they would give us free software for or labs, software like Visual Studio. They even assigned us engineers to plan everything for our servers, free of cost. Guess what? It was a disaster. We had our database destroyed by an external attack. We were “lucky” to have Microsoft in our servers and in our firewalls.
    We had to take action, so I decided to switch to Debian, and to use IPCOP (a great dedicated firewall, if there is anyone interested, the link is: http://ipcop.org/ , please note, I am NOT affiliated with them, and I will receive no compensation or benefit if you chose to access it or not ). Both open source. The result, no external attack has been able to pass trough. After that, we switched most* of our e-learning platforms to open source, and guess what? We are saving over 60,000 yearly just in software. So for those who are looking for a good way to get good security without loosing an eye, try open source.
    Now back to the point, I do not fully support any operative system. They all have their good features, or at least they should. The ones I know, are because I use them. My home network is composed by computers running in five different versions of Linux, two running in Mac OS X Tiger, and some others running in XP pro. My main computer is running in Ubuntu, and is really sad to see that there is no software from apple available for Linux. That is honestly the worst part of Linux, having no iTunes or QuickTime available. No way to see multimedia in the web, etc. A suggestion for apple would be, give support for Linux, there are a lot of us wanting the same.

    Apple makes software and hardware. Therefore they
    offer a total solution. Now they even can have
    windows xp running on their hardware. Making a
    version of mac os to run on linix isn't practically.
    Under a mac is unix and you can run unix software
    with the mac so you could do ever thing you are
    doing with a mac.
    I did not know Linux was one type of computer, like Mac...
    Next topic, If I was willing to pay for it, this thread would not exist, because I can actually use a commercial software to adapt the windows web plug ins to Linux... If I was in charge of Apple, I would propose to develop free software support of my products, - plug ins and so - to other operative systems... But of course, even if I did, it would not be up to me. It would have to pass trough several layers of bureaucracy, and it would take a lot of time to be approved or rejected.
    Anyway, the main issue is, the three most important OS's are Windows, Linux, and Mac. And that can't be denied. Now you can even run Windows in a Mac PC, and vice versa... besides being fancy, what else could I do with a Mac PC using Windows, when I can build a machine able to run Windows for less than 300 bucks? OK if you want to try a Mac in a i386 or a x86... but I still rather to be the proud owner of a PowerMac G5 than the owner of a Pentium 4 / AMD using Mac OS.
    Also, I thought it would be fun to see the reactions and opinions of other people with this topic, hence, I was not expecting anyone from Mac to read it, and really do something about it, because I know they won't.

  • Does Active directory support for linux/mac/ubuntu clients?

    Hello everyone,
    I am pretty new to Active directory and my company has few requirements which he need to achieve by implementing Microsoft Active directory. I tried reading some blogs/documents on google but was not able to get the clear understanding. So would request
    you all to please help me in getting the correct answers.
    1) Does AD supports linux/mac/ubuntu clients getting authenticated from it?
    2) Does AD supports root/non-root privilege login which is like admin/non-admin rights in windows for linux/mac/ubuntu?
    3) Does Password policy works well on linux/mac/ubuntu cleints?
    4) Does AD support auto-loading application after successful login in linux/mac/ubuntu clients? For eg: Logging into jabber client as soon as user logins IN.
    5) Can AD trace and log the authentication information for linux/mac/ubuntu clients?
    6) Does AD support rules based login for linux/mac/ubuntu clients?
    7) Do we have high availability in AD runing Active-Active?
    8) can we push patched/security policies via AD on linux/mac/ubuntu clients?
    9) Can we schedule crons for linux/mac/ubuntu clients via AD like we have task schedules set-up in Windows?
    10) Can linux/mac/ubuntu cleints be included part of GPO?
    11) Auto-backups or auto mapping of shared drives by AD on widnows/linux/mac/ubuntu cleints?
    12) Can we capture licenses etc(Server management) thing in AD.
    13) Does AD support communication over SSL.
    14) Does AD supports SSO authentication for linux/mac/ubuntu clients?
    Thanks guys in advance
    Regards
    Sam

    While I cannot speak for mac clients, there is a labour intensive method that allows linux distros to be able to connect to AD in a windows environment.  Take a look at
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2008.12.linux.aspx
    for tips.  Please note, it was designed with the Fedora/Red Hat Core in mind, but ubuntu distro's will also work, you just need the appropriate packages.

  • NI GPIB driver support for linux 2.4

    Is the NI linux GPIB driver compatible with the Linux 2.4 kernel? Does the NI linux GPIB driver provide a generic device interface (i.e. independent of LabVIEW)? I would like to access the driver using the POSIX interface (i.e. read/write/mmap etc.) via a standard device node (i.e. in '/dev'). We are looking to add a PCI-GPIB interface to our generic control and monitor system. The initial application will involve special purpose software interfacing with external test equipment (scope, power supply, etc.). The current platform is an Intel based industrial PC running Linux 2.4. This system will NOT be able to support data visualization via LabVIEW.

    Unfortunately, the current BETA driver (0.6) released by NI does not support version 2.4.x of the Linux kernel. There are plans for support in the future but no timeline has been specified. I would suggest checking back with NI on occassion at http://www.ni.com/linux for the latest news and support of the Linux OS.

  • MSI 845 Ultra support for PATA/133 HD

    I have an MIS 845 Ultra-AR (S478) mainboard with 1X80GB HD attached and the 2 ATA/133 Raid slots that I don't use. I also have a Maxtor SATA/150 PCI Card installed with a SATA/133 drive (100 GB) attached and running. I'm wondering what is the best approach, if any, to attach a Maxtor PATA/133 (300GB) drive (6L300R0). Can it attach to the onboard IDE or is it possible to attach to the SATA card. Attaching to the IDE so far, on AUTO, the BIOS recognizes the drive as 33.8 GB. Maxblast 4 will also only partition 33.8 GB. Attached to the SATA card on the Ultra ATA port ir recognizes the drive but again Maxstor 4 will only partition 33.8 GB.
    AMIBIOS was released 11/26/2001  A6398MS  V3.0. CPU is Pentium P4 1.6GHZ.
    I've been in computing for many years ... this is just getting a bit deeper that I've had to go before. I hope to learn from it as well.
    Any help would be greately appreciated.

    Make sure you are not using a NCQ based drive as ICH4 doesn't support.
    Next, you'll have to install the RAID Controllers for the IDE Controller to work.
    You can also get a SATA to PATA convertor if you want to use the SATA PCI Card.

  • MSI Z77A G45 support for Corsair kit 8GB

    Hello, I'm new in this forum. I'm going to buy the MSI Z77A G45. And I have already the Corsair kit of 8GB (2x4) cmz8gx3m2a1600c8r. I didn't found the compatibility of this ram on the checklist online with the G45 motherboard. I found only the compatibility with cmz8gx3m2a1600c9, it is similar the only difference is the CL9 and the CL8.
    The question is the cmz8gx3m2a1600c8r is compatibile with the G45
    Thanks

    In general, corsair ram is almost always compatible and highly recommended.
    Most ddr3 will work.

Please Help.If you have written the JNI, the JNI itself (java calls, methods, etc) to be OS agnostic then it shouldn't matter. In that case you check the windows code (not jni), the linux code (not jni) and the jni code itself independent of each other.
    If you haven't made the JNI OS agnostic the question would be why not?

  • Java usb support for  windows

    Hello All
    I do no know if this is the right place to post this topic, but does anyone know of an api that provides usb support for windows. I was looking a jusb, but the documentation says it only has support for linux. So far the best I have found is Mr Stahl's thesis which provides very limited support for windows. I was wondering if there was anything more stable (free or not)
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Im trying to connect 2 computers using USB or Parallell port. On one computer I want to install a printer (regular windows printer) that prints through either USB or the Parallell port. On the other computer I want to listen on the Parallell port/USB port and receive the input and write it to a file.
    Does anyone have a some sample code to do this? I've tried the following code (rxtx) but it cant find more than 2 ports (one parallel and one serial - no USBs even though I have 5 USB ports). Since I could only find the USB I tried to listen on the Parallell port. Problem is that I dont receive any data.
    <---THE CODE--->
    Enumeration port_list = gnu.io.CommPortIdentifier.getPortIdentifiers();
    while (port_list.hasMoreElements ()) {
    CommPortIdentifier port_id = (CommPortIdentifier)port_list.nextElement ();
              if(port_id.getPortType () == CommPortIdentifier.PORT_PARALLEL) {
                   System.out.println("Found port "+port_id.getName()+ "id "+port_id);
                   CommPort commPort = port_id.open("",2000);
                   InputStream is = commPort.getInputStream();
                   byte buffert[]=new byte[1024];
              int len;
              System.out.println(">>>>>>>>len "+is.read(buffert));
              while((len=is.read(buffert))==-1)
                   Thread.sleep(500);
                   is = commPort.getInputStream();

  • Ojvm for linux ?

    please add a ojvm for linux!
    oracle claims full support for linux, but the reality is that it is used only as a server. to fully support linux you should also provide tools for using it as a development workstation. while it's true that jdeveloper runs on linux, the profiler and codecoach doesn't, since they require the ojvm, which is available only for windows. thanks.

    We are working on it as a long term goal. I wish we had it today!! But it's in the works.

  • EAX / 5.1 Surround / Dolby - is there anything for linux?!

    Hi all.
    I've had a 7.1 Hercules Digifire soundcard for a while now, and it was awesome on Windows for surround sound.
    Being into my gaming, and just as into my films, I like using linux for both. The problem is, there seems to be absolutely no support whatsoever for EAX/5.1 surround/Dolby surround/ whatever for linux.
    I've searched pretty extensively, but as far as I can tell there is NOTHING at all in the way of surround sound support for linux. Is this correct?
    It's annoying having hardware sitting around wasting - if anyone can point me to somewhere helpful regarding linux surround, or give me any info, I'd be much obliged
    Thanks a lot.
    Thom

    Wow, thanks... careful tho, you've got my hopes up
    Well, I have alsa running, and I do indeed have options for 'Surround' and some others in alsamixer - but they don't make any difference!
    I'm not sure if it's my soundcard (I've had issues with microphone - it works, i.e. you can hear yourself in the speakers, but I can't actually record anything?? Set various things to 'Capture' etc, no luck), but seeing as all was well in Windows (while ago now, heh) I tend towards thinking it's a software problem.
    Are there any special measures I have to take regarding Alsa and surround sound? I've just got the stock Arch Alsa install, haven't changed anything.
    I'll go check the Wiki now. Is it just Creative cards that work? My Alsa module is cs46xx I think - Crystal Fusion. That's different to the Creative cards, right?
    Cheers,
    T
