MSI Twin Frozr II Second card failure

hi guys, got the above card RMA'd replaced 3 months ago and now I have the exact same issues with the screen scattering, lines, blocks etc, just like before.
Have stripped mobo down to bare minimums and still the same.
Have an OCZ600SXS psu with 18A on the +12v rail that supplies the card.
I have heard that some OCZ supplies have issues but, as it worked fine for 3 months, I cannot see it being the PSU
Is this looking like yet another RMA to MSI?
thanks, Gordie

test the card in another computer who has different and more powerfull PSU

  • MSI Twin Frozr Gtx 770 4gb uefi bios

    Hey guys.
    First time posting here.
Does my graphics card come with a uefi bios? If not, how do I get one and how do I flash it? I'm experiencing black screen hangups on startup, on a new build and people say a bios flash may be the solution.
    Thanks.

A few weeks ago, I built my own pc and installed Windows 8.1. I've installed just basic drivers from vendors websites and avast, malwarebytes, some benchmarking utilities and games. I'm getting really sluggish startup speeds, and my pc stops at a black screen after the windows logo but before the logo. The way I would describe the black screen is, it happens after the windows logo but before the welcome screen - a black screen from 8-15 seconds. I cannot move my cursor or see anything. Some research from the likes of eightforums etc suggests its my gpu drivers, so I decided to post here.
    What I've tried:
Reinstalled video card drivers to see if it stops black screening
    Full virus scan
Made startup programs and services minimal
Checked event viewer for anything peculiar - nothing came up, besides a driver related to my asus motherboard - AMDA00 Interface. I have since disabled it, as its not needed. Still no difference.
Reinstalled windows 8.1. Still the same.
When I boot in safe mode, I also get the "hanging" black screen, although it doesn't last as long.
    My specs:
CPU: Intel i5 4670K (Stock Speeds)
    Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Ranger
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP - 2x4GB @ 1866Mhz
GPU: MSI Twin Frozr GTX 770 4GB - CPU Cooler: Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 CPU Cooler

    Display: Benq GL2460HM 24" Monitor
Keyboard/Mouse: Basic sumvision keyboard and tecknet mouse - both USB. No other peripherals connected.
Any help is appreciated and feel free to ask for any more info.

  • MSI Twin frozr 4gb OC Gaming 770 Overclocking?

Is there a way to unlock the voltage on this card? MSI Twin frozr 4gb OC Gaming 770? I clicked unlock voltage in afterburner but it did nothing? Just trying to find if there is a way.

What do you mean by unlocking? For the GTX770 (except for Lightning) 1.2/1.212 V is the absolut limit (without hardware and eventually bios modding). Anthing else is not possible. If you can't apply any overvoltage use the latest bet aAfterburner: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=161235.msg1257833#msg1257833

  • MSI twin frozr II freeze and glitch problem.

    Hi everyone,
I have a very annoying problem with my card. Whenever I play BF3 with a total random time I get some green glitches and the display freeze (see the attached screen).
Normally I get right back on windows with this little popup "display driver stopped answer and recovery successful". But now it just freeze and I have to do a hard reboot...
    Here is my config:
    -I7 2600k
    -Asus p8p67 pro rev 3.1
    -2x4Gb Ripjaws X
    -OCZ 850w 80gold+
-MSI twin frozr II GTX 580 with latest drivers
    -Win 7 64b
I've already look around google, I'm not alone but it seems there is no real solution. It's really sad to have this kind of prob with that expensive card... without any solution.
Some help would be very nice.
    Thanks for any help.

But after downloading and trying to flash it with the link you provide nvflash says that my current version is: 70.10.20.00.01 and the one I downloaded is 70.10.17.00.01.
So am I already in the lastest ?
    Thanks
this number is not vBIOS ID, so in all cases it will remain the same.

  • MSI Twin Frozr 2 OC 580GTX High Load temps

    Hi all,
I've recently purchased a MSI msi twin frozr ii oc gtx580 (1.5gig) card. When idle, my card temperature is just 38c, but when the GPU usage reaches max (e.g. when playing games like BF3) the temperature goes upwards of 95C. All of my settings are at the factory overclock and I've tried using several drivers including 263.09, 280.26 and 285.36. Has anyone else experienced similar temperatures?

I've got a coolermaster atcs 840 case with a total of 6 Fans:
-1x 240mm Fan in the front pulling air in
-2x 120mm fans at the front (after the HDD compartment) pushing air to the rest of the case
-2x 240mm fans at the top pushing air out
-1x 120mm fan at the rear pulling air in from the outside through a small 120mm rad.
I previously had an ati 5830 installed (stock) and it never went above 79C.
Leaving the side door open doesn't have any effect

  • MSI twin frozr 4 GTX 670

    Hello
Having a slight problem with my gpu, maybe it is not a problem though.
My MSI twin frozr 4 GTX 670 is idling at a great temp of 28 Celsius.
When I play battlefield 3 or future soldier my card temps hit 80 degrees, I also hit 82 degrees in fur mark.
Is this high temps for this card
    thanks

Well I guess your card is a GTX 670 Power Edition because that uses Twin Frozr 4. 80 or 82°C is by far no problem especially not in Furmark. Besides the Twin Frozr 4 has more potential and gets my (much overclocked) GTX 680 Lightning to stay at 60°C under load but I have a very decent ventilation in my bigtower case. So with better airflow you'd have better temps but none the less the current temps are still far from problematic.

  • Any Reason Why Should I go with MSI Twin Frozr II 6870?

Do you guys have any reasons why should I go with MSI Twin Frozr II 6870 than other reference card??

MSi is only one of two mfg w/utils to control voltage on their 6870's the other is ASUS.  Price is a tad higher than some but the cooler is reference so its not like its a twin cooler or something like the 5xxx series or the 6850's custom design (not a twin cooler however).  If you dont plan on OC and tweaking voltage its probably not an issue then foor spec the 6870.  Id check out all, best price and warranty, some offer 3 yrs or lifetime.  When a custom cooler becomes avail on 6870's (only 6850's have them now last i checked), then id have more to comment on and suggest.

Hey I had similar problem, try installing the MSI drivers http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N560GTX-Ti-Twin-Frozr-II.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win7%2032 , try the 266 ones, if they dont work try the 280, for me personally the 280.26 driver worked. Even when i had already tried the 280.26 driver from the official nvidia website. Hope this works for you too

  • Bad temp spikes on GTX465 Twin Frozr II second SLI card

Wondering if anyone else has seen this issue, or if anyone has any suggestions.
I am running 2 GTX465 Twin Frozr II cards in SLI, and lately have been seeing some really, REALLY high temp spikes on the second card. I thought it was a fluke the first time so I ignored it, it said the highest temp was 172 C. Then, this morning I am sleeping and wake up to this faint smell of what seemed like burning wire or plastic. After looking all over the house trying to figure out what it was, I took a peak at my PC, and again the second card was showing a huge temp spike, this time it said highest temp was 180 C. It only started recently within the last month that I am aware of, as I generally watch temps on things pretty close, usually check GPU temps anytime I finish gaming to see how things are. I am running Afterburner 2.0.0, and did notice a new version, 2.1.0, had come out about 3 months ago. So just downloaded it.
Any clue as to what on earth might be causing this card to spike so insanely hot? I haven't physically checked the card yet, will do in a bit, but have tested everything, and everything is running great, no issues, frame rates normal, etc. If anyone has any ideas lay it on me. Thinking the second card may be killing itself lol.
Edit: Next time it registers a spike I'll get a screen shot. Rebooted PC and completely spaced taking a screen shot before hand.

    Just a quick update.
Checked the card itself. No faint odors of any kind such as it might have if it's burning up or anything. 99% of the card looks fine. Was purchased new 6 months ago, a buddy and myself purchased 4 for 2 SLI setups. Anyway, I did find out that somehow, 2 of the fan blades on the fan closest to the back of the case, were cracked, barely hanging on. One of them I was able to get re-attached solid, the there, I can't get re-attached solid, so now one blade is missing. How this happened, have no clue, as there is nothing under the card, I have any cables near the bottom of the case tied down in multiple spots about 8 inches front of the card, to make sure nothing could interfere with airflow. So, I am at a loss as to how they got cracked/became loose. Doesn't seem to be affecting anything tough.
At any rate. Just to make sure all bases are covered, I re-applied TIM to the card, to rule that out. Double checked EVERYTHING on the card, all looks fine. Reseated it, and will see if it spikes again. In the mean time, going to update my Afterburner software. Just seems odd that if it's the software only the 1 card is showing spikes.
Will see what happens. Will update after a day or two. If I see a spike again I'll pop a screen shot.
    Thanks Svet, Henry.
P.S. If it does wind up being a software issue, and the card ends up acting fine now, does anyone know, if MSI can send me a replacement fan to replace the defective one, or will I have to do a full RMA for it? I am an MCST/Tech, so I know my way around the hardware in's and out's more than well enough. Can easily swap the fan myself.

  • Problems installing MSI GeForce GTX660 Twin Frozr OC video card

I recently built my first gaming computer and everything worked...... except installation of the MSI GeForce GTX660 Twin Frozr Gaming OC video card. I have an MSI Z87M Gaming motherboard and an Intel i5 4670K processor. Running Windows 7 Professional and 8 GB Crucial Ballistix Sport RAM. I've tested the card on an older machine with a first generation PCIe slot and it installed and worked fine. When I install it on my computer everything is fine until I turn the computer off and reboot, and then nothing comes up on the screen. Are there some BIOS settings I'm missing or some conflict I don't know about? - Kennard

Add card's S/N and a copy of the current vbios (save it to file, upload it to some filehoster and add link). Also list the bios version the board is at.

  • Teazers of MSI N465GTX Twin Frozr II Video Card

Just right after testing the reference design MSI N465GTX video card, here just what showed up today. MSI N465GTX Twin Frozr II . I did not expect that MSI had this came out early for retail and was really excited to try it out. Here are some teasers pics.
The box is still the same where you can open up the front cover and see a brief explanation about the Military Components (Hi-c Cap, Solid Chokes & Solid Caps), Super Pipe and MSI Afterburner.
Now for the package bundle, you have:
•Manuals and Software CD which includes drivers and some utilities
    •2x 4pin to 6pin power connectors
•Monitor adapters such as DVI to HDMI, DVI to VGA and Display port to HDMI
MSI done a great job here putting MSI logo and Twin Frozr II name on the top side of the card. Once installed in your rig. MSI name can be easily see
I never get tired looking at the Twin Frozr II cooler. Great job here MSI. Thick heatpipes!!! The Best!!!!
Rear ports. Two DVI connectors and one display port.
Upon testing the card. I overclocked it right away and tried a higher OC than the reference MSI N465GTX that I just previously posted here. The Twin Frozr II version was able to perform at a speed of 880MHZ core/ 1900MHZ mems and it was still stable. If I just have more time testing the card I think this can go as high as 900mhz for the core and maybe 2000mhz for the mems.

I've been quite fond of the Twin Frozr since I got it on my N260GTX OCSP.
Varti, do you mean a case badge? I haven't seen one from MSI since I got one with my TV@+ several years ago.
