MSI UBO-30 External Slim Bluray Drive not recognized under Windows 8.1

Hi, does anyone here have MSI UBO-30? It is an external bluray drive from MSI. For some reason the drive is not recognized under windows 8.1 64 bit (it just says USB device not recognized). But works fine if plugged into Windows 7 machine. Anyone encounter the same issue?

Try upgrading your usb 3.0 drivers on your system. That worked with My GS70 Stealth Pro...

hard drive not recognized during windows server 2008 setup

    Hi,
Whether the hard disk is recognized in BIOS?
Connect it to another computer to see if it could be recognzied incase the cause is the disk itself. Also please check if it is really a RAID instead of a single hard disk - a single disk should be recognized directly while RAID cannot be recognized until
    a suitable driver is installed.

  • X301 (Type 2774) - optical drive not recongized under windows 7

    Dear Lenovo Community,
I have a specific problem regarding my optical drive - hope someone can help! I installed windows 7 on my lenovo X301 2774-AH5 - since then the optical drive is not recognized any more by the operation system (everything worked out fine beforehand under XP). In a first attempt I ordered a new drive - but the problem persisted - sent the new drive back and re-inserted the original drive. The device manager lists the drive (Mathsita DVD-RAM UJ-844) and reports the following regarding the device status:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
The following driver is currently installed:
Microsoft, installed: 21/06/2006; driver version: 6.1.7601.17514
I tried to install the latest driver via the lenovo web-page:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?
However, no drivers seem to be available for the combination: X301 / windows 7 / optical drives.
    Any suggestions?
    With many thanks and greetings,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that Optical drive of your Lenovo ThinkPad X301 is not recognized in Windows 7.
Is the optical drive powered on?
Ensure that optical drive is enabled in BIOS. Go to control panel -> Device manager and uninstall the driver listed under DVD/CD-ROM drives. Reboot the system, scan for hardware changes and check if the optical drive is working fine.
If the above said didn’t help to resolve your concern, try doing a registry edit. Refer this Microsoft KB article and follow the instructions.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • 2.5" external USB hard drive not recognized by my iMac

I have a small 2.5" external USB hard drive that my intel iMac will not mount or see. My 12" G4 Powerbook sees it fine and it is formatted in Mac OS Extended. My iMac is bootcamped and XP on my iMac sees the drive but not OS X Tiger on the iMac, (wierd) I have Tiger on both my Macs too.
Why does the intel based OS X refuse to see this external 2.5 HD. It sees a 3.5" USB one I have but not the small one. I know it is software.

    Hey coby,
Well thanks for the star. Not sure I deserve it.
i then tried connecting the drive to each USB port again, and voila! i have found one it works in. I guess my computer's ports must be a little worn.
Hmm well try looking inside and see if there's some smutz in there, if the contacts are dirty or bent or worn.
i was starting to think i would have to go out and get a USB hub to give it some more power.
Is it powered off the USB? If so that actually might be a good idea since that puts a lot of strain on the connectors. Even if it's self powered it might be a good idea since it would take the strain off an obviously flakey USB.

  • DVD/CD RW drive not recognized by Windows 7

Since buying this laptop (HP Pavillion DV7T) I have had trouble with the DVD/CDRW drive not being recognized after a shutdown.  This is an intermittant problem with no traceable cause.  To fix this issue I have tried the following:  Assigned the DVD/CDRW with the letter Y in case there was a drive conflict causing it; used the troubleshooter offered by Windows 7; uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers; checked for updated firmware.
If I run a scan for hardware changes, the drive shows up again, but only until the problem reoccurs.  I am seeing this problem about 4 times a week.  This issue will occur on about every other hard reboot, again, no real pattern that I can identify.
I have made a change to the system.  I had to disable all hybernate options due to the "power state failure" bsod that I was seeing.  I don't believe this change would cause any issues with the optical drive.

  • DVD Drive Not recognized in Windows 7

    Hi all,
I have successfully installed Windows 7 on my Lenovo 3000 N200 0687-A11. I have a problem, my DVD drive is not detected at all (not shown in Device Manager) but I can still open it, and it is definitely detected in the BIOS, and also it can boot from the CD - the problem is that it is not detected in Windows 7.
I am thinking that an application is causing this problem
     - Nero
     - iTunes
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dean

    Hi all + bladewing,
    My DVD drive is now detected and working!!! What I had to do was;
    1. I created a new partition (on the same hard drive) and temporarily installed Vista on the Partition (Making it a Dual Boot PC).
    2. After Windows Vista was installed, I went into the Device manager, to find that the DVD Drive was successfully installed.
    3. In windows explorer, I went to the directory D:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers and copied the file cdrom.sys and moved it to the partition in which Windows 7 was installed (C:\) . (Note: In this case D: was the partition in which Windows Vista was installed, and C: was the drive in which Windows 7 was installed.)
    4. I booted into Windows 7, and the driver was successfully installed.
    Done.
If anyone else is experiencing this same problem, and needs help with resolving it, please do not be afraid to PM me or post on this same Message. Also, I have the cdrom.sys file (from Vista – mentioned in this post) available if you wish me to send it to you or upload it.
Once again, thank you for all your help with this issue.
    Thanks,

  • PCMCIA-FBus Series 2 is not recognized under Windows XP

I'm trying to get a PCMCIA-FBus Series 2 card work under Windows XP Professional SP2 toghether with an Elan P111 PCI to PCMCIA Adapter, but when I plug in the card Windows does not recognize it - I only get a "pcmcia unknown_manufacturer" message and no driver is installed.
I've tried to install the driver manually, but then I get an error code 10, Device could not be started.
    The Computer is a Dell Optiplx 740, AMP Athlon 64 X2 3800+. NI-Configurator v3.1, v3.1.1 and v3.2.1 have been tested. The Elan P111 driver is PSeries v5.07.08.

    Hi,
I am not sure whether this PCI-PCMCIA adapter works well with Windows XP SP2.  I suggest that you also contact the adapter manufacturer for the compatibility issue.
We did do some test on Elan PCI-PCMCIA adapter, but I am sorry that we are unable to make verifications on all kinds of hardware and software combination. There exists the possibilities that the adapter does not work on some PC's.
Another suggestion that you can try is to install the PCI-PCMCIA adapter driver on a clean Dell Optiplx 740 (Windows XP SP2 without Microsoft hotfix ). I think this can help you identify whether there are compatibility problems between the adapter and system.

  • Iomega External Hard Drive not recognized on windows 8.1

I wanted to share this with others that may have or do run into the same problem. I used the iomega external drive 1TB on an XP computer for a couple years, then when that computer went bad, hooked it up to a windows 8. This worked perfectly fine, but last week I did the upgrade to windows 8.1 and the drive was no longer able to be read. It showed in disk management as unallocated.
I found a suggestion on using File Scavenger software to recover the data. I did have to pay for that software, but it not only found and recovered all my files, but also found missing daily backups that I thought were failing. Those must have been unreadable because my xp hard drive was starting to go bad.
After recovering and saving all my files to the computer (which did take a long time - 13 hours) I was then able to reformat the external drive, copy my files back to it, and continue to use it as always.
Hope this helps someone else who may be devasted on losing important or precious files.

The hard drive will not show up on the sidebar or desktop unless Finder preferences are set to do that:
In Finder's General preference section, make sure "External disks" is checked in the list of things to show on the desktop if you want to see them there.
Likewise, in Finder's Sidebar preference section, make sure "External disks" is checked in the "DEVICES" section to see them automatically appear on the sidebar.
But you don't need to do either for the MBP to recognize the drive, or to get files from its Time Machine backup set. To do that, you should use the Time Machine "Star Wars" interface. Pondini's FAQ's (already mentioned) tell you how to do that. Tip 17 is particularly relevant.

  • Boot Camp: Seagate External Drive not Recognized in Windows Explorer -- PLEASE HELP!

I'm running in Boot Camp and using a Seagate Free Agent GoFlex external drive as both a Time Machine backup on the Mac OS, as well as a storage unit to exchange files. However, whenever I plug my external drive into my computer while running Windows, it does not show up in the Computer tab under "Devices With Removable Storage", like it should. It does show up on the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" button in the bottom right hand corner, and it appears as a "Startup Disk" in the Boot Camp Control Panel, so I know that it isn't a cable or USB input issue. Please help me get it to appear as a Device in the Windows Explorer. I need to exchange files from my Mac OS to my Windows OS. Thank you in advance for the help.

I did it but i could not install tool from the dvd. As i said, i can still boot up windows xp i just needs to re-install the service tool.
    The drivers are working properly.

  • External USB Hard Drive not recognized on iMac HELP!!

I am currently using a i5 iMac running Lion 10.7.5
I have recently partitioned a Verbatim USB external hard drive and uploaded all my footage from a wedding. This was done with no problems and the QT videos could be opened from the hard drive.
    A few weeks later, the hard drive does not show up in my finder. BUT it is recognized in disk utility. Here is a screen shot;
    So first I ran "Verify" and it told me to repair disk. After clicking on Repair, I got this;
It is giving me the error message "Invalid B-Tree node"
    Here is more info on the hard drive;

Can someone give me a step by step on how to get the hard drive working again? It would mean the world to me as this footage is priceless and irreplaceable.
OR can you refer me to someone (Geek Squad? Apple Store?) that might be able to help me out?
    Thanks in advance!

The error message invalid b-tree node size indicates that the directory on the disk is corrupt. The way that it can be repaired is to reformat as disk utiltiy says.
It is recommended that the data be backed up first before either of this solution are done.
Since it is not be recognized by the sytem at all it does sound like you can back it up now.
    Do you have a backup?
If you don't there is every chance you may lose all your data.
You can check to see if a data recovery service can recover any data for you. If you go that route you are looking at spending $$$$

  • Help needed - External mobile hard drive not recognized by my iMac

Hi, i received a Freecom Mobile Drive XXS 250 GB USB 2.0 today, after plugging it into my iMac, i am finding that nothing is showing up, and it isn't being recognized at all.
I've tried connecting it via all the USB ports, i have tried connecting it and disconnecting other cables (like speaker + printer cables) and it's not working. I'm not all that computer literate, but after scouring the internet for hours i understand the problem could be that my USB ports are 1.1 and a bus powered hard drive might not get the sufficient power from them?
I have looked at the system requirements for the hard drive and my iMac apparently has all the requirements this needs to work. I have checked Disc Utility and the external hard drive isn't even showing up there. I thought i might have had to re-format the drive, but i checked and it is already FAT-32 so should be ok?
Very puzzled, and am out of ideas on how to get this to work (need to transfer files quite urgently - want to upload some new software and don't want to risk losing the files on my internal hard drive, as my computer is getting about slow and unreliable also have the problem of my cd burner now being defunct for some reason, but thats unrelated to this hopefully)
Has anyone got any ideas on how i could get this to show up on my computer? Any info will be much appreciated!

    OS:      Windows XP 64-Bit
    BIOS:    W7071VMS V2.3 092605
I am building a computer for my brother and have hit a roadblock.  The Windows XP setup will not recognize my PATA drive (the only drive in the system) by default.  I have downloaded drivers from both the MSI and VIA websites as well as a third party website out of desparation but every 64-bit driver I can get my hands on for this machine will load however will not recognize the drive.
I need to know if I should cut my losses here or if there is a path to salvation as this 'couple hours' project is begining to take up a significant portion of my life.  He had a version of windows on the machine prior to my meddling however I'm almost certain it was 32-bit.  Truth be told the 32-bit version of Windows didn't recognize the drives either but I haven't tried toubleshooting that scenario.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.  I simply cannot afford to spend more time working on this (2 1/2 weeks away from a bachelor's degree, yeah I'm pretty busy).  Thank you.

If you can still boot into Slackware, then the BIOS still recognises the HDD.  Do Slackware and the BIOS recognise that the HDD is 160Gb and not about think that it is about 20 to 30Gb ?
If you  have access to a 32-bit copy of Windows, have you tried installing that to see if it works ?  If it does, you have confirmed that the problem is with the 64-bit version of Windows (and your motherboard or HDD).
Personally, I wouldn't install the 64-bit version of Windows - it hasn't been around for 5 years yet !
Ahhh, brothers . . . I have one just like that, "Can you come round after work and get the viruses and malware off my PC please ?  It should only take you about 5 minutes."  Yeah, right !
Just a (further) thought, I think I had a similar problem some time ago.  Windows 2K wouldn't recognise a HDD which I had previously partitioned with some version of Linux.  It seemed as if Windows didn't like the partition table or something.  I was convinced that the HDD was faulty . . . but it would still boot Linux.  I eventually managed to get round the problem by doing a low-level format on the HDD and installing W2K before re-installing Linux.  I now ALWAYS install Windows first, followed by Linux.
ps.  Good luck with the Bachelors - not good timing.

I have a Compaq Presario F755US with Windows 7 Ultimate, since Windows 7 was released. About 2 months my Optical drive disappeared from Windows. After startup, and hitting F10, I have gone into the setup screen, and do not see any hardware options. All other hardware on system works fine.

BTW  HP BIOS is a custom BIOS. You are risking corrupting your BIOS if you use any BIOS tool except updates from HP.
If you are an advanced user, then it is a different story since you are aware of the risk involved.
BIOS updates are cross platform. If you update the BIOS and load Linux it will still work.
There are sometimes some enhancements for a specific OS.
The BIOS upgrade will work but it is not necessary to upgrade it just because you can.
Are you familiar with editing the registry and upper and lower filter drivers?
(a word of caution: any change you make in the registry takes effect immediately! You can make your PC inoperable if you do not pay attention and make a mistake)
Do yourself the favor of backing up the registry before making any changes
Take a look at your registry and path to the value listed below. It should look like the following image. If not and you see values named UpperFilter driver and LowerFilter driver the perform the procedure below the image.
    1.Start
    2.Type regedit and click ok.
3.The Registry Editor navigation pane will appear.
4.In the Registry Editor navigation pane navigate to the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    5.select the UpperFilter driver.
6.Right click on the UpperFilters driver
    7.Click on Delete
8.Do exactly the same  with the LowerFilter driver also.
    9. Close Regedit
    restart your computer
