MSI VOX audio ROAR

i just got this card today
and i plugged it in, all is good, video works great.
and then the audio :(
there is like a big HUMMMMM roaring sound ..
i hvae tried different cable wires coax that is, even with rca components does the same thing..
i have tried one laptop and two desktops same thing
anyone else?

The problem is in part because it's drawing more power than the port can supply.   A viable alternative to the power adapter (which is next to impossible to find) is a powered USB 2.0 Hub.  I've found that using a powered USB 2.0 hub will get rid of the audio distortion, and it even clears up some of the snow effects that some people are reporting.  Until I hooked in the hub, I just thought the visual effects were just bad reception.
Even then, you may have to dedicate the hub entirely to the VOX, because I've found that adding even one additional device that draws any power at all will bring back the hum (or warble -- see my own posting on this).  I'm guessing that the VOX is drawing (or trying to draw) more than the USB 2.0 spec of 5V at 500mA per port, as I've seen this behaviour on several brands of hubs using my own VOX.
On some systems, pulling all your USB devices except for the VOX will get you the same effect, but as many devices go through USB these days, that's not really an option for some of us.
Oh, on a side note, if you're still intent on finding a compatible adapter for it, after a bit of detective work and experimentation, it looks like the specs for the power adapter are as follows:
5VDC, 500mA, negative tip.
I've not found a compatible adapter yet, but the Mitsubishi G310's cell phone's adapter is close.  It's 5.80VDC, 480mA, +ive tip.

  • MSI VOX audio problems

I have window 7 x64 bit and the software is not compatible, however I did find an alternative software program that works perfectly except there is no sound transferance from the audio (RCA) input to the usb out to the computer. The video is excellent however.
I'm using the built in audio of my Asus P6T. Viewing the window 7 mixer shows no audio playback from the unit.
I'm using native drivers that Windows 7 has incorporated but I also tried the drivers from msi using compatibility mode/admin function.
    Any other ideas?
    Thank you.
MSI VOX TV BOX USB 2.0

    Yup, it works.
If anyone wants to use it as a capture device with windows 7 x64, then let windows 7 use default drivers and install a free program called Golden Videos : http://www.nchsoftware.com/goldenvideos/index.html
No tuner though but that's ok;)
BTW, do you really need the transformer for power or is the USB power source adequate?
    Thanks again!

  • MSI VOX Audio default settings keep changing on startup

I've had this VOX tuner for about a year and a half and I've used it on 2000, XP SP1, SP2, etc...and I've fought with it every single time I reconfigure the O/S.  I am a computer support professional - I know a couple of things about drivers, registry file, etc...and I STILL can't get this thing to work consistently!
Anyway, when I install the drivers and MSIPVS software, it always selects the MIDI synth input instead of Line In as the default audio input setting.  I reconfigure MSIPVS and tell it to use Line In instead - everything works fine.  Then I exit and restart MSIPVS - it goes back to MIDI and I have to reconfigure the audio to use Line In every single time I run the software.  Of course, that means the recording doesn't work - because as soon as I click on record, it sets the audio default back to MIDI synth again.  I've used two different audio cards with this and they all do the same thing (SoundBlaster Live! value and a SoundBlaster Audigy 2).  I've used several different motherboards - I've completely replaced all components in my computer several times and I always have this same problem.
I've got an internal MSI TV tuner card on another machine running this same software - it has the same problem.  It won't exit half the time (the window closes but you can still hear the audio running until you restart the computer).
The hardware seems fine, but the software is unbearably poor!  I'd drop the software in a second if I could find something else that works better.
The weird thing is that in uninstalling, reinstalling, cleaning out the registry, fiddling endlessly -once in a while I can actually get it to work, but I have no idea what I've done to make this work twice in a row.  I've reinstalled the software dozens of times now, reinstalled Windows...I don't know what else to try.
Obviously, I've upgraded all audio and video drivers - none of that makes any difference.
If I open the SoundBlaster mixer program, as I start the MSIPVS program, I can see the MIDI and Line In channels get muted and un-muted but by the time the software loads, it's defaulted back to MIDI Synth again.
Anybody have ANY ideas?  I'm desperate to try anythig now.  I'm considering throwing the whole thing out and getting an ATI tuner or something completely different - as long as it doesn't use this Intervideo software...
    Thanks.
Oh yeah...one more thing I've noticed is that the WinCinema Manager causes all kinds of problems - if this program is running, the channel keeps changing to 1, 11, or 111 - it seems to be sending some kind of remote control signals to change the channels so I've had to disable this program - then the channels seem to work fine (but maybe it's causing my audio problems...?)

  • MSI VOX Audio / Video Sinc problem

    Hi All.
Last week i bought a VOX TV Tuner.  Nice device works well except for what i want it for.
When I try to cpature at Full PAL DVD resolution I get audio / video sinc problems.  The audio is usually ahead of the video.  Half PAL DVD or below  it's fine.
I suspect it is the basic design of the box that is the trouble.  Having the audio feed to the sound card rather than than in the USB2 feed has been a no no ever since the problem was discovered back in the USB 1 days.  USB2 is capable of 400Megbits..
However I contacted another user who has no problems and says there is a patch for Direct x PAL video capture.  Does any one know of this patch or has any one had the same problem as I have??
This device seems so new that there is no info on the net about it..
    TIA.
System :  P4. 2.4 Gig, 512 Meg ram, fast HDs, Direct X 9.0 (have not installed 9.0b yet) Asus Mobo P4Pe.  Matrox Mystique video card. Win 2K SP4

I would chase that up as it sounds promising.

  • [Vox] MSI VOX TV BOX USB 2.0 problem with audio drivers compatibility

    Ok,let's go...
I have a DELL Latitude d510 laptop with a centrino 1.73 GHz procesor and a soundcard supported by Sigmatel software Sigmatel C-Major audio.I bought MSI VOX TV BOX USB 2.0 and tried to install it on my lap top.Yes,I had problems with SP2 on my XP and the MSIVPS software from the instalation CD was crashing every time I tried to start it,but I solved those problems by downloading the latest drivers and the 3.xx version of MSIPVS.But...I still have a problem with audio. To be precise it seems that my audio drivers are incompatible with the VOX drivers. So now I have video but I don't have audio. Also I installed the tv card on my desktop machine and it worked like a charm(everything workes:audio, video, the old MSIPVS which I like better than the new one cause it supports my remote, has better way of managing scanned channels,e.t.c ,but I have USB 1.1 on my MB so the image quality is very poor).I did a lot of experimenting, for example i uninstaled my audio drivers(that Sigmatel C-Major thing),and installed the old MSIVPS and guess what...IT WORKED but there is no use from this cause I don't have audio On the other hand if I have everything installed then in the MSIVPS (the 3.xx version not the old one) under audio I get CD Player as an input audio device(what happened with microphone...?).To cut the long story short I tried a bunch of things and still no audio. Is there any other case of DELL audio software-VOX incompatibility?Any ideas,or solutions?

thank you for answering me. y have no pci card working, only usb 2.0 and sata devices. also, the MSI geforce 9600gt PExp 2.0 gpu. the only usb 2.0 devices which work, are the flash (pen) drives, keyboard and mouse. but no way that the WLAn adapter and TVcapture, both usb 2.0 work.i've  tested them front side and rear side and is the same failure: if i use a pendrive, works ok. if i insert the wlan or the tv capture stop work as the 2.0 and a advertising window tell me to change to a 2.0 port, means the ports are working slower, at 1.1.  i still have the other PC, built on the MSI K9N4-slif mobo, tested them and both devices work at perfection.  i have 2 screenshots to show you:
this, is the device manager (sorry, in spanish but you understand that's about the nVIDIA EHCI USB 2.0 controller. the 2nd one seems to be more sensitive (works worth) then the first one. when the tvcapture begin work, then fails, i'm trying to update this controller, does it ok but then the devicemanager-window freeze. i must stroke the "enter" key to "accept" / finish the update. then, fails again:
the other one is from everest corporate edition:
both drivers marked with purple colour!
i think i should update this Win XP drivers, but how? the usbport.inf file (C:\Windows\inf) don't change anything. i don't want to switch xp to vista, i'm happy whit it.
i'm thinking also on another possibility: could be an energy failure? some usb devices, like the big usb flash dives. 250-320gb, fail because the 5v/usb are receiving it's not enough. could be, but that means this mobo has no solution and i'll loose my money.
thank you very much and i'll stay alert of your suggestions. by

  • [Vox] No audio using MSI VOX 2.0

    Hi.
I just started to use MSI VOX 2.0 on my laptop.
There's a big problem, the audio does not work.
The display is fine and good quality, but there's no sound what so ever.
Even when i try recording the shows, there is no sound.
How can i fix this problem?
I'll grateful if you guys can help me.

have you connected the audio cable from the Vox to your laptop line-in connector?

  • MSI VOX - MSIPVS (only cd); dropped frames in other programs;

I have dell inspirion 11000 (512mb, celeron 2,GHz) and msi vox USB TV tuner.
    I have two problems.
In MSIPVS I can only select cd audio for audio output , but I have only mic in  input on my computer. I guess this problem is in connection with the sound card on my lap top. I would like to know, if anyone was in the similar situation and how he managed to get out of this problem.
Second problem is probably in connection with msi vox driver. I am able to get preview only from IUVCR and MSIVPS. I can capture sound and video only from IUVCR since this program allows me to select microphone for audio input. But during the capturing I have a lot of dropped frames (around 70% ... my CPU usage is very small, disc fragmented .... ). Other programs just don't work.
    Please HELP ME! ;-)
    Thank you in advance

Could be the memory, but it's hard to tell.
It may be a problem with reading the timecode from the camera.
    Some things to try:
You could try to capture now and capture the entire tape with device control on.
Turn device control off and capture now (this will not allow you to recapture footage based on timecode)
If you are capturing to your internal drive where your operating system is running on and have journaling enabled, this could be fouling up the capture process. To see if you have journaling on go to:
    Applications->Utilities->Disk Utilities
select the drive you are capturing to
click the select the File Menu and see if the journaling submenu says enable journaling or disable journaling. If it says disable, then the drive is journaled.
Capturing to a FileVault Volume will slow down the capture process and probably causes dropped frames.
Reboot the computer and hold the right shift key down to start in safe mode. If you have multiple users, hold the shift key down when logging into a user. Try to capture in safe mode. This will turn off any pesky programs you may have running in the background.
Make sure the drive you are capturing to has enough free space. If you are capturing to a drive that is close to full or heavily fragmented, it will slow the capture process down and drop frames.
Other than that... it could be a memory issue or it could be the speed of your hard drive.

  • Msi vox usb 2.0 remote/sound problems

please help! i just purchased a new MSI VOX USB 2.0 external tv tuner and i'm having lots of problems...
    1. the dial on the side of the box that is supposed to turn the tuner on/off or change channels doesn't do a thing.
    2. the remote doesn't work at all
    3. sound - i'm using this on a notebook computer and i don't have a line in port. i assume i would be able to just go through the microphone port but it is not so. in the options under properties>device, i can only choose the audio input source to line in (which i don't have) or cd audio (?). it doesn't even work if i set my computer recording settings to 'microphone'... even though i CAN record the microphone input in a sound recording program, i can't hear in in real-time... right now the only way i can hear the TV is to connect the audio cable through my desktop's line in! i can't even hook my speakers directly into the box because the pin hole is too small to fit a normal audio jack...
is my only solution to buy some sort of audio pin converter so i can hook my speakers/headphones directly into the box??
i've downloaded the newest drivers and they don't help at all with any of my problems.
i'm using a notebook computer with windows xp...
please help! thanks very very much!!

I had/have the same problem, with a Dell Laptop running windows XP.
my first solution was to buy a male-male audio connector and hook it directly to my speakers, but having to switch from that and my computer wasn't much fun, I found another work around.
I bought snapstream's beyond TV, and everything has worked well, and I like the snapstream software better than the default software, anyway.  The only problem is that you can't use the composite or S-video inputs, as far as I can tell.  (and having to spend $50 on another piece of software, but use the trial version first to make sure it works)

  • Vox Audio Problem

    MSI VOX SOUND PROBLEM
After 30  seconds, sound turn off, video is ok. I Want try the energy adapter but I don´t  know the power supply or the configuration for this adapter and where I live theres no adapter msi for this product. I have a intel piv 2.6 Mainboard intel 865gbf.
    Thanks

I have the same problem. I work around it by connecting the audio input directly to the sound card line-in jack, bypassing the MSI VOX device.
I emailed the MSI tech support, and they suggested getting the DC power supply for the device, but I don't know where to get one, and they did not guarantee that it would fix the problem.
I am using the MSI VOX as the only USB device connected, and I am using the USB 2.0 cable provided with the device, so I can see no reason why the power supply should be a problem. If so, it's poor design by MSI.
I also find the quality of the video capture to be poor, smeary and jerky at 720x480.

  • Play video games with MSI VOX USB?

    Hi,
I am interested in getting the MSI VOX USB 2.0 External TV Box and I am just wondering if I can play video games such as Playstation 2 with my laptop using this tv tuner. I heard some tv tuners have the "delay" make them useless to play video games. Does MSI VOX USB have this "dealy", and how is the the picture quality while playing video game with this tv tuner?
    Thanks in advance.
    Jim

    Hiya,
I dont really understand the VoxBox but I've just inadvertadly managed to put the PS2 on my laptop by plugging the video/audio cables into the converter and then into a USB port, and although it did work, and there wasnt a delay or anything, the quality was poor compared to a TV and also it flickered a bit so I'm not sure it would work that well- but that may have just been my computer playing up. Definitely possible though. Sorry I cant offer much more advice!

I have read that I may need an external power supply; if so what voltage is it etc or where can I get one from. I live in the UK

  • No Picture ... No Signal ... MSI Vox 8609

I bought MSI Vox TV Box USB2 (8609) a couple of days ago... connected it in the computer and it was detected normally... the driver worked normally... then connected it through S-Video cable to the TV... installed MSIPVS 2 (which was on the CD) but didn't work, then tried to install WinDVR 3, also didn't work (it said to lower the resolution and colour depth and/or refresh rate for higher quality), then tried the test version of MSIPVS 3, also didnt work... same thing! Black screen with all the programs!..what shall I do ? my computer is P4,2.4GHz, GeForce 2 64MB video card, WinXP Home ... ? what shall I Do?

what are you trying to acheive? why are you connecting s-video cable to the tv?
the s-vid connector is an INPUT. the vox box requires a signal IN to display on your PC screen
