MSI VOX TV Tuner

Ok ppl heres the story
Ive just ordered the vox tv tuner and ive then decided to research it, and what ive found out is ive made a big mistake lol, i basicaly was posting to find out if anyone has got  this tv tuner working in the uk?
Thanx Baka!

I've had one of these for some time.
I bought it to use with an Acer laptop (AMD 64 3000+, 512mb, dedicated 64meg ATI 9200 graphics, XP Home SP1).
The device does work, but not very well.
Problems:
As recorded by other users this device always defaults to NTSC whatever video format you try to set it to.  A pain in the arse.  To make it work you need to reset at each restart.  For the UK make sure you reset to PAL-I.
Remote function is poor, tends to jump channels or go to unbroadcast channels for no apparent reason.  This is probably down to a software problem.
There were some acknowledged problems with the interVideo software and some versions of windows, updates were available last time I looked but that was a while ago.
I also had a problem with the picture jumping occaisionaly.  I put this down to incompatibility with the processors/OS's power saving modes.  I tried using external power supply via a powered USB hub but this does not solve the problem.
The external power supply as advertised as 'optional' is not available from MSI suppliers in the UK.
As this device was cheap and support non-exsistant, I've consigned it to the corner of a dark cupboard.
Good luck, and let us know if you can work out the answers

Can anybody help me with VOX MSI USB TV tuner CD key. i need it because i have lost my CD and now i have a new laptop so i need to reinstall the drivers
i have the driver from the internet but i need the key that is provided with the CD

at the top of this forum, there are Important Topics, known as 'Sticky Topics' or 'stickies'
if you look in the Read Me First for TV@nywhere Master, and then look in the FAQ link, you will find a whole load of useful help for TV@nywhere Master, and all of the info regarding MSIPVS will also apply to the Vox USB, as the software is the same

"I've lost my CDs and MSIPVS needs a serial number to install!"
MSI in their wisdom printed the serial key for MSIPVS on the actual CD. This serial key is the same printed on EVERY CD. Which kind of defeats the object in my humble opinion. Anyways, the answer can be found in this post: MSIPVS requires serial number!

  • MSI VOX TV Tuner USB 2.0 - POWER ADAPTER WHERE TO BUY!

I purchased a generic power adapter from radioshak.
it works perfect to power the msivox box.
    It has selectable volts on it. 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5, 9, and 12
    2A
I have it set to 4.5 volts, as 6 is to much and 3 is not enough.
you might be able to find something with more options on it.
The beauty with this thing is that you can purchase ANY
end you want, and it just happens that radioshak
also carries an end that fits the MSI vox.
The end is classified as "A" size.
When you plug the end into the power adapter,
make sure that you align the word TIP (on the p.a. cord) with the (-)negative side of the size "A" end  you bought
The cost was around $1.50 for the end
and $20 for the adapter, however, I had it before I bought the msivox. lucky me!
There is a slight humming noise if I push the size A end to far into the msivox, I assume this creates
some sort of interference, so to eleviate the noise, I just slowly remove the end until the noise stops,
but before the unit loses power from loss of contact.
    hope this helps.

A generic adapter should work just fine although you may need to install drivers for it.
Incidentally the new 2nd gen X1 Carbon uses a proprietary connector, not USB. You can buy a replacement for it from Lenovo or less expensively by googling on the FRU number and buying from an independent seller. The advantage of using the proprietary adapter rather than a generic USB adapter is that it saves the USB ports for other uses.

  • MSIPVS+MSI-Vox USB2 TV Tuner = No Closed Caption(CC) support

I bought the MSI Vox. Everythign installs fine.. TV is fine - But when you try to turn on closed caption on NTSC signals - Nothing!   No Closed captioning. Thx in advance AP

Try using some other progs and see if you can get any CC as it migth not be a hard problem .. Just MSIPVS being it`s usual self.

  • MSI VOX - MSIPVS (only cd); dropped frames in other programs;

I have dell inspirion 11000 (512mb, celeron 2,GHz) and msi vox USB TV tuner.
    I have two problems.
In MSIPVS I can only select cd audio for audio output , but I have only mic in  input on my computer. I guess this problem is in connection with the sound card on my lap top. I would like to know, if anyone was in the similar situation and how he managed to get out of this problem.
Second problem is probably in connection with msi vox driver. I am able to get preview only from IUVCR and MSIVPS. I can capture sound and video only from IUVCR since this program allows me to select microphone for audio input. But during the capturing I have a lot of dropped frames (around 70% ... my CPU usage is very small, disc fragmented .... ). Other programs just don't work.
    Please HELP ME! ;-)
    Thank you in advance

Could be the memory, but it's hard to tell.
It may be a problem with reading the timecode from the camera.
    Some things to try:
You could try to capture now and capture the entire tape with device control on.
Turn device control off and capture now (this will not allow you to recapture footage based on timecode)
If you are capturing to your internal drive where your operating system is running on and have journaling enabled, this could be fouling up the capture process. To see if you have journaling on go to:
    Applications->Utilities->Disk Utilities
select the drive you are capturing to
click the select the File Menu and see if the journaling submenu says enable journaling or disable journaling. If it says disable, then the drive is journaled.
Capturing to a FileVault Volume will slow down the capture process and probably causes dropped frames.
Reboot the computer and hold the right shift key down to start in safe mode. If you have multiple users, hold the shift key down when logging into a user. Try to capture in safe mode. This will turn off any pesky programs you may have running in the background.
Make sure the drive you are capturing to has enough free space. If you are capturing to a drive that is close to full or heavily fragmented, it will slow the capture process down and drop frames.
Other than that... it could be a memory issue or it could be the speed of your hard drive.

  • Is MSI VOX USB PAL compliant?

    Crosspost:
    Hi all,

I opened the box and found the LG Innotek TALN-H200T tuner inside.
    Can anyone help me with
    1) Does the MSI VOX (the US version) support PAL?
    2) Can I use a different driver to run PAL?
    3) Is there any hardware settign I can change on the TALN to make it recognize PAL?
    Thanks a in advance

Amazingly, and not surprisingly, they would not give me such an enlightened explanation before I made the purchase. Its only after the $$$ is spent, that all the clarifications and qualifications come through. Before the purchase its "Yes sir, it supports PAL. Dont worry about it!"
    Sucks!
If any one who reads this has a PAL tuner, can you please let me know which model LG tuner is in the device. You can find out by shining a strong light (a table lamp) into the device casing near the coax TV connector. The box is semi-transparent and you can look inside to see the model number on the largish silver box inside the device connected to the coax connector. Any help is appreciated.
    Many thanks

    Sandeep,
This is vivek from India, i have exact same problem, mine is MS-8609-010. I need PAL support. Please let me know if you were able to change the tuner from NTSC to PAL, if yes then how.

  • MSI VOX audio problems

I have window 7 x64 bit and the software is not compatible, however I did find an alternative software program that works perfectly except there is no sound transferance from the audio (RCA) input to the usb out to the computer. The video is excellent however.
I'm using the built in audio of my Asus P6T. Viewing the window 7 mixer shows no audio playback from the unit.
I'm using native drivers that Windows 7 has incorporated but I also tried the drivers from msi using compatibility mode/admin function.
    Any other ideas?
    Thank you.
MSI VOX TV BOX USB 2.0

    Yup, it works.
If anyone wants to use it as a capture device with windows 7 x64, then let windows 7 use default drivers and install a free program called Golden Videos : http://www.nchsoftware.com/goldenvideos/index.html
No tuner though but that's ok;)
BTW, do you really need the transformer for power or is the USB power source adequate?
    Thanks again!

  • Msi vox usb 2.0 remote/sound problems

please help! i just purchased a new MSI VOX USB 2.0 external tv tuner and i'm having lots of problems...
    1. the dial on the side of the box that is supposed to turn the tuner on/off or change channels doesn't do a thing.
    2. the remote doesn't work at all
    3. sound - i'm using this on a notebook computer and i don't have a line in port. i assume i would be able to just go through the microphone port but it is not so. in the options under properties>device, i can only choose the audio input source to line in (which i don't have) or cd audio (?). it doesn't even work if i set my computer recording settings to 'microphone'... even though i CAN record the microphone input in a sound recording program, i can't hear in in real-time... right now the only way i can hear the TV is to connect the audio cable through my desktop's line in! i can't even hook my speakers directly into the box because the pin hole is too small to fit a normal audio jack...
is my only solution to buy some sort of audio pin converter so i can hook my speakers/headphones directly into the box??
i've downloaded the newest drivers and they don't help at all with any of my problems.
i'm using a notebook computer with windows xp...
please help! thanks very very much!!

I had/have the same problem, with a Dell Laptop running windows XP.
my first solution was to buy a male-male audio connector and hook it directly to my speakers, but having to switch from that and my computer wasn't much fun, I found another work around.
I bought snapstream's beyond TV, and everything has worked well, and I like the snapstream software better than the default software, anyway.  The only problem is that you can't use the composite or S-video inputs, as far as I can tell.  (and having to spend $50 on another piece of software, but use the trial version first to make sure it works)

  • MSI VOX Sound problem (not the buzzing)

    Hi,
I've looked through numerous threads and forums and havent been able to find the problem I'm trying to solve right now.
    Heres the situation.
I have recently bought a MSI VOX tuner box to help me record some older tapes from a camera. I plug everything in and when I playback i get both sound (from line in) and picture. Everything seems to be working perfectly fine but when I have recorded some footage from the camera and play it, theres no sound. I've tried everything (i think) and while I can hear the sound when I record it from the camera, theres no sound when I play the recorded data from my computer.
I've tried uninstalling all my codecs and installing them one by one while trying to record a bit before each new codec. Still doesnt work.
Using G-Spot to render the file i get the following result:
Any ideas? Its driving me crazy!

    well done
msi support is bad enough, but their software is made by intervideo - you should have a look at their support section at http://www.intervideo.com , i think there is ONE FAQ about installing DirectX 9.0, AND THATS IT!! thats all the online help you get!!!
at least if you have to pay for some decent software, you'll get some good support behind it - is PowerVCR by Cyberlink by any chance? might have to try that myself...

  • Play video games with MSI VOX USB?

    Hi,
I am interested in getting the MSI VOX USB 2.0 External TV Box and I am just wondering if I can play video games such as Playstation 2 with my laptop using this tv tuner. I heard some tv tuners have the "delay" make them useless to play video games. Does MSI VOX USB have this "dealy", and how is the the picture quality while playing video game with this tv tuner?
    Thanks in advance.
    Jim

    Hiya,
I dont really understand the VoxBox but I've just inadvertadly managed to put the PS2 on my laptop by plugging the video/audio cables into the converter and then into a USB port, and although it did work, and there wasnt a delay or anything, the quality was poor compared to a TV and also it flickered a bit so I'm not sure it would work that well- but that may have just been my computer playing up. Definitely possible though. Sorry I cant offer much more advice!

The picture quality is not very good and the viewing area keeps flashing pink / purple.
I have tried altering all the settings I can find.
I have read that I may need an external power supply; if so what voltage is it etc or where can I get one from. I live in the UK

  • [Vox] MSI VOX TV BOX USB 2.0 problem with audio drivers compatibility

    Ok,let's go...
I have a DELL Latitude d510 laptop with a centrino 1.73 GHz procesor and a soundcard supported by Sigmatel software Sigmatel C-Major audio.I bought MSI VOX TV BOX USB 2.0 and tried to install it on my lap top.Yes,I had problems with SP2 on my XP and the MSIVPS software from the instalation CD was crashing every time I tried to start it,but I solved those problems by downloading the latest drivers and the 3.xx version of MSIPVS.But...I still have a problem with audio. To be precise it seems that my audio drivers are incompatible with the VOX drivers. So now I have video but I don't have audio. Also I installed the tv card on my desktop machine and it worked like a charm(everything workes:audio, video, the old MSIPVS which I like better than the new one cause it supports my remote, has better way of managing scanned channels,e.t.c ,but I have USB 1.1 on my MB so the image quality is very poor).I did a lot of experimenting, for example i uninstaled my audio drivers(that Sigmatel C-Major thing),and installed the old MSIVPS and guess what...IT WORKED but there is no use from this cause I don't have audio On the other hand if I have everything installed then in the MSIVPS (the 3.xx version not the old one) under audio I get CD Player as an input audio device(what happened with microphone...?).To cut the long story short I tried a bunch of things and still no audio. Is there any other case of DELL audio software-VOX incompatibility?Any ideas,or solutions?

thank you for answering me. y have no pci card working, only usb 2.0 and sata devices. also, the MSI geforce 9600gt PExp 2.0 gpu. the only usb 2.0 devices which work, are the flash (pen) drives, keyboard and mouse. but no way that the WLAn adapter and TVcapture, both usb 2.0 work.i've  tested them front side and rear side and is the same failure: if i use a pendrive, works ok. if i insert the wlan or the tv capture stop work as the 2.0 and a advertising window tell me to change to a 2.0 port, means the ports are working slower, at 1.1.  i still have the other PC, built on the MSI K9N4-slif mobo, tested them and both devices work at perfection.  i have 2 screenshots to show you:
this, is the device manager (sorry, in spanish but you understand that's about the nVIDIA EHCI USB 2.0 controller. the 2nd one seems to be more sensitive (works worth) then the first one. when the tvcapture begin work, then fails, i'm trying to update this controller, does it ok but then the devicemanager-window freeze. i must stroke the "enter" key to "accept" / finish the update. then, fails again:
the other one is from everest corporate edition:
both drivers marked with purple colour!
i think i should update this Win XP drivers, but how? the usbport.inf file (C:\Windows\inf) don't change anything. i don't want to switch xp to vista, i'm happy whit it.
i'm thinking also on another possibility: could be an energy failure? some usb devices, like the big usb flash dives. 250-320gb, fail because the 5v/usb are receiving it's not enough. could be, but that means this mobo has no solution and i'll loose my money.
thank you very much and i'll stay alert of your suggestions. by

  • MSI VOX Audio / Video Sinc problem

    Hi All.
Last week i bought a VOX TV Tuner.  Nice device works well except for what i want it for.
When I try to cpature at Full PAL DVD resolution I get audio / video sinc problems.  The audio is usually ahead of the video.  Half PAL DVD or below  it's fine.
I suspect it is the basic design of the box that is the trouble.  Having the audio feed to the sound card rather than than in the USB2 feed has been a no no ever since the problem was discovered back in the USB 1 days.  USB2 is capable of 400Megbits..
However I contacted another user who has no problems and says there is a patch for Direct x PAL video capture.  Does any one know of this patch or has any one had the same problem as I have??
This device seems so new that there is no info on the net about it..
    TIA.
System :  P4. 2.4 Gig, 512 Meg ram, fast HDs, Direct X 9.0 (have not installed 9.0b yet) Asus Mobo P4Pe.  Matrox Mystique video card. Win 2K SP4
