  • Msi vox usb 2.0 remote/sound problems

please help! i just purchased a new MSI VOX USB 2.0 external tv tuner and i'm having lots of problems...
    1. the dial on the side of the box that is supposed to turn the tuner on/off or change channels doesn't do a thing.
    2. the remote doesn't work at all
    3. sound - i'm using this on a notebook computer and i don't have a line in port. i assume i would be able to just go through the microphone port but it is not so. in the options under properties>device, i can only choose the audio input source to line in (which i don't have) or cd audio (?). it doesn't even work if i set my computer recording settings to 'microphone'... even though i CAN record the microphone input in a sound recording program, i can't hear in in real-time... right now the only way i can hear the TV is to connect the audio cable through my desktop's line in! i can't even hook my speakers directly into the box because the pin hole is too small to fit a normal audio jack...
is my only solution to buy some sort of audio pin converter so i can hook my speakers/headphones directly into the box??
i've downloaded the newest drivers and they don't help at all with any of my problems.
i'm using a notebook computer with windows xp...
please help! thanks very very much!!

I had/have the same problem, with a Dell Laptop running windows XP.
my first solution was to buy a male-male audio connector and hook it directly to my speakers, but having to switch from that and my computer wasn't much fun, I found another work around.
I bought snapstream's beyond TV, and everything has worked well, and I like the snapstream software better than the default software, anyway.  The only problem is that you can't use the composite or S-video inputs, as far as I can tell.  (and having to spend $50 on another piece of software, but use the trial version first to make sure it works)

  • Play video games with MSI VOX USB?

    Hi,
I am interested in getting the MSI VOX USB 2.0 External TV Box and I am just wondering if I can play video games such as Playstation 2 with my laptop using this tv tuner. I heard some tv tuners have the "delay" make them useless to play video games. Does MSI VOX USB have this "dealy", and how is the the picture quality while playing video game with this tv tuner?
    Thanks in advance.
    Jim

    Hiya,
I dont really understand the VoxBox but I've just inadvertadly managed to put the PS2 on my laptop by plugging the video/audio cables into the converter and then into a USB port, and although it did work, and there wasnt a delay or anything, the quality was poor compared to a TV and also it flickered a bit so I'm not sure it would work that well- but that may have just been my computer playing up. Definitely possible though. Sorry I cant offer much more advice!

  • MSI Vox USB TV Tuner

    Hi everyone!
Please post topics related to this hardware in the TV@nywhere forum!!

First of all the vox usb tv tuner will operate on Xp home SP2.
If you open the device manager, then Sound, video and game controllers you will probably see that USB2820 has been installed.
You must have MSI MS8609 Video installed as MSI PVS or MSI PVS 3 will only talk to the drive of this name.
Both drivers are provided by eMPIA technology and maybe the vox identifies itself as USB2820.
You will notice I posted the same problem a few days ago.
A partial solution I found was to uninstall USB2820 drivers and install the MSI MS8609 Video driver.  I have not been able to install the driver of 2005 as found on the
MSI site but can install the 2004 version that came with my vox CD.  The partial solution is the schedule/record function of MSI PVS 3 does not work with this driver so
I must run MSP PVS for the schedule/record function.

  • MSI VOX USB TV tuner PAL/NTSC settings

    Hi,
I've used the VOX USB tv-tuner for a couple of weeks now and am pretty happy with it. Actually it works rather good for my purpose except for that the WinDVR program always resets the Device mode to NTSC_M. I live in Sweden and have to go set it to PAL_G or PAL_B all the time. However every time I restart WinDVR or if I try to record a program it resets to NTSC_M.
Today I also wanted to record a program so I hit the record button on WinDVR thinking it would work. However later it turned out with just a green screen and distored sound. So I discovered I had to force it to PAL_G and PAL SVCD recording settings and then it would work.
This is a big hassle to fix everytime. Any fix for this planned soon?
I'm using the latest MS verified MSI driver and WinDVR software that I could find on your website.
    My system is
    P4 3.0GHz socket 775
    EPoX EP-5EPA+ motherboard
Radeon X300 PCI-Ex16 graphics with dual screens with 1600x1200@75Hz
    1.5GB RAM
    Windows XP Pro SP2
TV-tuner is connected directly to a USB2 port. No USB hub used.
    Driver date: 05.05.2004
    Driver version: 1.1.505.0

your VCR may use some form of MAcrovision protection, which prevents video piracy (or even legitimate uses!)
try another VCR and see what happens. have you got a DVD player or Xbox / PS2 you could hook up to test composite input. tried another composite lead in case that one is bad?

  • Is MSI VOX USB PAL compliant?

    Crosspost:
    Hi all,
If someone can help me out with this. I bought the MSI VOX in the US on assurance by the vendor that the device supports both PAL and NTSC. However, I am tryign to use this device in the UK, and all I get is noise on the channels.
I opened the box and found the LG Innotek TALN-H200T tuner inside.
    Can anyone help me with
    1) Does the MSI VOX (the US version) support PAL?
    2) Can I use a different driver to run PAL?
    3) Is there any hardware settign I can change on the TALN to make it recognize PAL?
    Thanks a in advance

Amazingly, and not surprisingly, they would not give me such an enlightened explanation before I made the purchase. Its only after the $$$ is spent, that all the clarifications and qualifications come through. Before the purchase its "Yes sir, it supports PAL. Dont worry about it!"
    Sucks!
If any one who reads this has a PAL tuner, can you please let me know which model LG tuner is in the device. You can find out by shining a strong light (a table lamp) into the device casing near the coax TV connector. The box is semi-transparent and you can look inside to see the model number on the largish silver box inside the device connected to the coax connector. Any help is appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Sandeep
    Sandeep,
This is vivek from India, i have exact same problem, mine is MS-8609-010. I need PAL support. Please let me know if you were able to change the tuner from NTSC to PAL, if yes then how.

  • MSI VOX USB driver problem (XP PRO SP2)

When I plug in the VOX to the USB Windows looks for the MSI MS8609 driver, but does not find it (even if it is installed). Then after a while it finds a driver called USB2800. I've tried to uninstall this an reinstall VOX SW but I can not change it into MS8609 !

Have you tried installing the drivers from the MSI website?
    The drivers are available >>here<<.
Also, make sure your motherboard drivers are installed properly and that there are no yellow exclamation marks in device manager as that would also explain why the sound card drivers won't install.

you can buy a self powered usb hub online now for a fiver
if they had this adaptor it would cost you more

  • MSI VOX USB 2.o missing SN for Software

I Lost the software for my Vox tuner, I've downloaded the software from MSI, but I don't have the CD and regardless of what they indicate, that # is NOT on the packaging. The only SN I have is the one on the tuner and that doesn't work. Anyone have any suggestions?

The serial number for the software is on the CD sleeve. If you've lost the CD, you'll have to contact MSI to obtain the serial number.

  • InterVideo WinDVR encountered a problem and needs to close (VOX USB 2.0)

    Device: MSI VOX USB 2.0
    Driver: vox_1.1.0505.0.zip
Software: msipvs_8609.zip (both driver and windvr software were download from official MSI site).
Machine: Dell Latitude D600 with 1G memory
Symptom: Installed ok, during starting the following is popuped:
InterVideo WinDVR Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Searching the forum I found one posting relating that to QuickTime codecs installed by Nero. But It is not the case on my machine.
I downloaded the trial version of WinDVR3 from InterVideo web site and it works correctly. Anyone experience similiar problem. Any suggestion/instruction is deeply appreciated.

Just partially solved the problem by download the beta driver. At least now the MSIPVS program starts ok. The four problems remain are:
    1. It won't load the channel file upon startup. Have to manually load the file before changing channels
    2. the control (channel up/down, power off) doesn't work
    3. the unit won't turn off (the led light is still on after exit the program)
    4. don't know how to use the teletxt program included.
    Any direction/comment is deeply appreciated.

  • Sound Problem VOX USB

    hi there,
I just bought a MSI vox USB tv card and I can't seem to get the audio to work.  The video image is ok, but how do I connect the sound since i have no audio line in ??? i tried it with the mic port, but i don't get any sound, just some noise...
I do have an S-video connection...maybe i can do something with that ?
also, is it possible to connect speakers directly to the TV card ? how would i do that since the plugs are different..
    any help is appreciated
    Nick

    They are plug and play.
I did try unplugging all of the USB devices and then powered off the computer and unplugged it for about 5 minutes as I heard that that sometimes solves USB problems. However, upon reconnecting the problem returned. All other USB devices seem to be working normally - it's only the Bose sound system. I tried plugging it into a different USB port in the back of the computer but the problem continued after about 10 minutes. Therefore, I am convinced this is not hardware related.
At this point I am thinking I need to reinstall OS X Snow Leopard to undo whatever Tinker Tool damaged. Is it possible to just replace the USB drivers in OS X without reinstalling everything?

  • PAL 60hz on VOX USB ???? Help!

    Hi
I've just bought a MSI VOX USB to play with my videogames consoles on the tft screen of my portable thinkpad, but I've a problem with the 60Hz mode.
In fact, the VOX work good in NTSC 60Hz, but in PAL I can't play in 60Hz! It's work, but the games appeared black and white...   So, if I want to play in color, I've to play in 50hz mode but that's sux >_
Why can we play in PAL 60hz? Can I found something to upgrade the vox or the InterVideo program
(I play on a portable, so I can't change the refresh rate of the screen)
    Thanks in advance

I know that NTSC is 60hz et PAL 50Hz, but there is also PAL 60Hz
In general, PAL consoles don't support S-Video signal, there are composite or rgb scart...
So if the Vox support NTSC 60Hz, why is it impossible to support also the Pal 60hz? It may be possible
