MSI X58A-GD65 Flash/Re-Flash the New/Same BIOS

Hello.
I have some trouble with overclocking.
The BIOS always saves the Voltage settings but not the multiplier and MHZ and I would like to Re-Flash the same BIOS or a new one.
I can't find the BIOS that I have already flashed and the Live Update does not have any BIOS updates so I came here to ask.
Can I update to version V22.2 from this page? http://eu.msi.com/product/mb/X58A-GD65.html#/?div=BIOS
How can I find the BIOS that I already have and re-flash it?
PS) Please stay to topic questions don't tell me anything about my Cell Menu settings. They are fine because I have tried countless times to save them and only a few times they were actually  saved and worked at 4 Ghz.

Maybe others know why your board is stated to only be available thru live update but a quick google search and I found a link to a file with the exact same name as that bios.
http://www.msi.com/service/download/bios-14654.html (bios version 22.2) I'm assuming it's the same one stated on the page for your board that you linked.
I would wait for the more knowledgable people to say what method to use or if it's safe before just flashing anything.
BTW- live update sucks and never seems to work properly. When I first got my board I was thrilled to see an update function built into the bios. first thing I did was use it and it flashed my bios to a version older than what it shipped with!

I have motherboard MSI X58A-GD65 bought in September.
It is possible to flash it new BIOS v.23.0 or not?
    Now i have BIOS v. 22.1

    Hello every body.
Does anyone check 7522vM3 22.3 bios?, the 22.2 was a disaster, but what about 22.3?, or perhaps it works and resolve the problem of suspension state when you make overclocking.

    My experience with X58A-GD65 Bios
22.0 = dont get out from suspension state, Overclock runs ok
22.1 = it runs ok, OC ok
22.2= it has lots of problems, the main is the inestability of raid 0 over SSD, lots of blue screens, OC inestable.
So, dont upgrade to 22.2, stay in 22.1.
The upgrade of the bios shoud be done from the BIOS (you have an option to upgrade with an usb memory stick).

That could create a serious issue on the Internet for few weeks but at least that will be honorable end like a Samurai's Seppuku...

Recommend opening a ticket with MSI Tech Support & describing in detail the problems you are having with the new bios. Since this is a user to user forum, nothing concerning a bios revision or the like is going to get fixed here. About the only advice anyone here could give would be maybe some new setting in the bios has been added, or a setting has been overlooked preventing the desired results.
After taking a peek in the manual, nothing is shown about the board having these setting options. It's possible the new bios has incorporated it. It would show up in bios Cell Menu & the description of what it is & what it does would be in the info box to the right. When OC'ing, make sure to disable Spread Spectrum. After the bios update, did you remove the power cord from the PSU & clear CMOS?
I have disabled the "Spread Spectrum" because it caused slow perfomance especially in SSD.
About the power cord and clear cmos. No, never, ever.

I bought the MSI X58A-GD65 because I am a complete moron who wanted a hardware Easy Switch.
It works really well, but I was pissed when I noticed that my 12GB's of RAM was no longer recorgnized. Only showed 8GB's..............
So I set the Easy Switch to deafualt ( 133 ) and decided to overclock the CPU and tweak the RAM.
I just read every forum where people had problems w/ various settings, and since I only want 3.2GHz w/ 12GB's of RAM @1.4v it was a walk in the park.
Clearing the CMOS after a day of torturing myelf and committing Human errors,I easily was able to simply undervolt the RAM from the 1.65v default, and raise the 133 default setting up by a factor of 5 and rebooting.
So this is my first OVerclocking experience and MSI seems like a worthy board..
I use this to perform hardware and virtual musical synths and instruments 6 nights a week.
Since I cam from a solid 32bit DAW that ran 100% for 3 yerars,I didn't upgrade, but actually did an entire new rebuild since I wasn't sure ofthe stability in x64.
But this DAW has worked for days on end now flawlessley.

  • MSI X58A-GD65 Overclock Problem

    Hi there,
I have been trying to overclock my mainboard and it doesnt change my Clock Frequency, actually it changes but when I try to reboot system, it comes back to 133mhz again! I'm sure that it is not failure of overclocking, what should I do about this problem?
Every detail can change but clock frequency...!
I updated mainboard by the way to the last firmware.
NOTE: I manually change frequency on mainboard to 200mhz. now Setup says 200 mhz, while computer starts, startup says 200mhz, in Windows, it says 133 mhz! even CPUZ says 133mhz!... what is going on :S

  • MSI X58A-GD65 BIOS Cell Menu Bugs!

    Hello,
I updated the bios to the latest version according to MSI's website (Update Date    2010-11-17 version 2.22)
I had configured everything from scratch and even Cell Menu options.
I had my CPU overclocked to 4.0 GHZ (20x200) and RAM to 1600 and in Extreme Profile 1 (8-8-8-24).
I verified that everything was ok and stabled (I did a couple of benchmarks and torture tests to be assured)
I noticed today that the BIOS refuses to run with the overclocked settings
By refusal I mean, it boots fine but it boots at 133x20!  (2660 mhz)
I tried setting the options again and nothing happened everything stayed the same.
Also I have disabled ALL POWER SAVING FEATURES like Green Power, Intel EIST and the like
    Some proof: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1514841
PS) I refuse to use the old bios because the old bios was worse than the current one and I will have more trouble with it.
    Give me a solution please.

  • Overclocking MSI X58A-GD65

    Greetings to all!
I would like to overlock my computer properly in order to be able to achieve better perfomance in gaming
That is due to the reason I don't want to spend more money to this computer (I have already spent a lot)
    My system build is:
    Tower: CoolerMaster Cosmos RC-1000
    PSU: CoolerMaster Real Power M850
    CPU: Intel Core i7 920
    CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster V8
    Motherboard:  MSI X58A-GD65
    RAM: OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800 Intel® i7 Triple Channel [3x2GB, 1600 MHZ, 8-8-8-24
    SSD: A-Data X25 80GB by Intel (Model: SSDSA2MH080G1GN) [Sata 2]
    VGA: Sapphire Radeon HD4870 1GB
    HDD1: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB (WD1001FALS) [Sata 2]
    HDD2: Western Digital 250GB [Sata 1]
    HDD3: Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB (WD6402AAEX) [Sata 3]
    Optical 1: Samsung 223QRSMN DVD-RW [Sata ?]
    OS: Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
As you can see my build can  be considered high-end.
So far I have overclocked CPU to run at 3.0 GHZ and RAM speed at 1800 MHZ.
If I set CPU to run at a higher speed the system boots fine but the OS refuses to start
Also I have encountered some hang ups in games. I believe it's because of the automized RAM timings.
In order to overclock I have to access the "Cell Menu" in BIOS Settings.
The Cell Menu has exactly these options:

Ouf, that all the options in Cell menu... This motherboard must have been designed for professional overclockers.
So any suggestions, any guides that I should follow?
I have heard and seen on the internet that Core i7 920 can reach 4,0 GHZ but not quite stable can I achieve such perfomance with good stability?
How do I get the real full specifications of these RAMs?
Should I enable some of the CPU features to conserve power and have a better temperature?
Should I enable also green power?
PS) Again to clarify it. I'm aiming for perfomance.

It does not make sense to try overclocking the CPU and rhe memory at the same time, as it does not allow you to know if stability problems are caused by instable memory settings or instable CPU related settings.
Because of that, you should split your whole OC task into two obectives:
    1. Objective:  Overclock the CPU, not the memory.
    2. Objective: Once the desired CPU Overclock is reached & stable, start worrying about the memory.
To reach your first objective, please keep your memory speeds as low as possible (keep it @DDR3-1066) and focus on the processor only.
So should I leave all the RAM options to Auto?

    Merry Christmas all.!
I've just purchased a MSI X58A-GD65 and I'm have a few problems overclocking with it. My setup is MSI X58A-GD65, Intel  i7 950. 6gb dominator 2000 GT.
The problem I'm having is I can't access any voltage controls for the CPU and memory in the BIOS. They are all greyed out and say [AUTO].. No matter what I change I can't access them. What am I doing wrong guys?
I have updated the BIOS to v.2.2 also..
    Thanks,

  • [MSI X58A-GD65] Overclocking, stabilizing and testing a Core i7 920

    Greetings,
I have overlcoked my i7 920 to 4.000 MHZ and I would like to run some tests just to be sure about it's stability.
The RAMS have been succesfully tested with Memtest86+ which is included in Ubuntu 11.10 distributions.
    However,  blue screens rarely occur.
If my current knowledge does not deceive me:
    a) The more volts the more stability, heat and power consumption rate
    b) Green/eco, less power consumption, Intel states are cr*p, right? I use a Power Wattage meter and the watt consumption does not fall below 400 Watts (it's the same when it's overclocked).
    c) In my own experience Intel Turbo (21x Multiplier), states cause instability

Looking for more advice/suggestions about getting more stability and performance
I know that overclocking is dangerous and can damage/destroy/cook the components such as the CPU, RAMS etc.
However, whatever happens it's my responsibility

Why are you using X.M.P. with Memory and Uncore being adjusted manually? What are the random BSOD codes? VDroop should be set to Low. PLL and CPU V. seem to be ridiculously high for a 4.0 OC. What does CPUID's CPU-Z utility show for CPU voltage? PLL, IOH, and ICH should only require the Auto setting.

  • I think there is a bug in the new ec bios for gt60 2OD(ver1513)

I have put a post on:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=182144.0
    The Post:
I have bought a GT60 2OD-063CN. I download the new ec bios from the official site , the version is 1513(the stock version is 16f4EMS1 ver 5.04)
And i follow the offical instruction and unrar the files and use ecwin.bat to update the ec.
    Now it is the problem.
It seems if I use the ecwin.bat, then the system will use 16f4EMS1 ver713 which is in the 353x document.
After update the v713 ec, the touch function(fan, back light etc.) is misfunctioned.
And I manually use the 16f4EMS1 ver 513 ec which is in the 352x document to update, now it seems the touch function is worked again.
So I wonder what is the differences between the 2 ec bios and what is the mechanism for ecwin.bat to judge which ec should be used?
After all the auto "ecwin.bat" file will lead you into 353x and use the wrong ec.
PS: the system is the stock win8. I have take away the barttery to reset the ec.
It seems some people faced the same problem. I hope msi could correct the ec bios update.

I'm having the issue on my GT70 2PE that backlight is not working before the Steel series engine drivers is loaded.
The firmware that I have flashed is w8_1763EMS1.513 and it flashed 353x because SB_DetectToolWin32.exe reported errorlevel 3.
As I know the backlight keyboard does not light on until SteelSeries Engine is loaded.

  • Is the "512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage" on the new mac worth the extra cost?  I am comparing with a refurb with better specs (faster CPU, larger hard drive) and from what I undersand the PCIe flash storage is the big differentiator in cost.

hello - i am considering two macbook pros
    NEW - http://store.apple.com/us/buy-mac/macbook-pro?product=ME294LL/A&step=config#
    REFURB - http://store.apple.com/us/product/G0ML1LL/A/refurbished-macbook-pro-27ghz-quad-c ore-intel-i7-with-retina-display
The refurb actually has a faster processor and a larger hard drive.  From what I understand, the big difference in cost is the new macbook pro contains "512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage" versus the refurb "768GB Flash Storage".
Is the PCIe flash storage really worth the extra cost (and smaller size)?
PS - Also I believe the brand new one has 2 GB graphics memory as opposed to 1 GB graphics memory.  I don't really care about that as much as I won't be doing a lot of video editing or gaming.

Is she wrong - are these actually going to people's homes, being used, then returned and resold?
Some are some are not. Otherwise Apple has a ton of Mac's sitting around that have been returned by customers under their 14 day No Questions Asked return policy.
But they not just Returned and Resold. They go back to Apple, checked out (Tested) any parts that are not up to spec replaced and then repackaged in a plain white box to be sold as refurbs.

  • Flash Player is the new malware !

I had a perfectly functional old Flash 10.0.32 with any security holes covered by my Security.protection
When I discovered 36 vulnerabilities I decided to "upgrade",
with no assurance that the latest version did not have at least another 100 vulnerabilities waiting to be discovered and exploited.
I was horrified that you seem to clickjack me.
I thought I was clicking for Flash 10.1, but what you gave the Firefox download manager was a GetPlus download manager.
Why on earth would I want your UNPROVEN download manager, WHICH YOU STATE HAS AN UNPATCHED VULNERABILITY ! !
I only came here to improve security on a dodgy Adobe product for which I have only rare use.
IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE THAT YOU DUMP ANOTHER HACKERS HIGHWAY ONTO MY SYSTEM.
It is also disgusting that when you gave mme Getplus INSTEAD OF the expected FLASH,
I had to accept this with no assurance that it would finally deliver Flash -
For all I knew you could have been downloading a keylogger and identity theft device.
I also am horrified by your incompetance demonstrated by the new high risk way of doing things :-
You totally failed to perform the download and upgrade after my many repeated attempts.
I gave up trying to upgrade.
Then I found that a site which always worked well now had problems due to my Flash being totally busted by your attempts.
You bungled everything - you even crippled the old version that had been functional.
I finally went back to the old way and uninstalled the broken Flash by using
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe.
I then used the old way of a direct download of Flash 10.1, but again your GetPlus download manager had its evil way.
I now have Flash plugin 10.1.53, and have removed (so far as I can see) your wretched GetPlus virus downloader.
My computer seems to have survived all your exploits,
but I am still steaming over all the needless aggravation Adobe has caused me.
When I was given this P.C. one of the first major bloat things to be un-installed was Adobe Reader.
I did not like a few 100 MBytes of bloat to do what other readers achieve with less than 10 MBytes,
and I especially did not like the fact that by the time Adobe had started up I had forgotten which PDF I needed to read.
With a little more experience I now realise there are far more important reasons to avoid / replace Adobe products.
I am now anxiously waiting for HTLM5 to replace Flash.
    Alan

    Thanks for the information,
but not looking forward to needing it when existing vulnerabilities are identified.
I saw that GetPlus has a vulnerability when I looked at the Adobe FAQ before I allowed GetPlus to invade me.
Google gives 8 results for "getplus vulnerability",
or 43,400 results when omitting the quotes.
The 43,4000 results are reduced to 89 when I use Advanced search to restrict the search to Adobe.com.
I forget the precise phrase I saw in the Adobe FAQ which increased my concern over the GetPlus fellowtraveller,
but it definitely advised that there was an as yet unpatched vulnerability.
I cannot now find the relevant FAQ.
I guess my efforts are hampered by my Honours degree in technology instead of a degree in stupidity.
I am pretty sure that I saw the click opportunity to access the relevant FAQ whilst enroute to actually installing this unwanted downloader,
and I have no wish to go through that aggravation again - but I assure you the admission of this problem does appear on Adobe.com.
