MSI X79 GD45 Plus Reboot Problem

Hi guys, I am having problems with my MSI X79 GD45 Plus motherboard. Everytime I restart my pc from windows, my motherboard or pc goes off and on again. Unlike the normal restart wherein it just well..restarts.. without going off.
I've tried to switch the ram positions, and yes I've tested all positions, still doesn't work.
I've also updated my bios. Still doesn't fix the problem.
Help me please

Read the posting guide and list the components. >>Posting Guide<<
Although I have heard this before and it was solved via bios update: >>BIOSes<<

  • MSI X79 GD45 Plus supports Vt-d on IVB-E?

    Hi!
    Does the MSI X79 GD45 Plus total supports Vt-d on IVB-E => 4930k
    The manual only say:
    Quote
This item is used to enable/disable the Intel VT-D technology. For further information
please refer to Intel’s official website.
I can find any info on the MSI web or internet
    Thanks

VT-d is dependent on whether it is supported by the processor. This you always need to check on the Intel specsheet.
The i7-4930K does support VT-d. See here http://ark.intel.com/products/77780
The board supports the processor with the latest BIOS, thus there shouldn't be a problem.

  • MSI X79A-GD45 Plus Odd USB problems...

I'm having some odd issues with my MSI X79A-GD45 Plus... The system overall works well, and other than these little nagging annoyances the machine works.
I'm looking for any other suggestions you all might have of this issue.
Every so often when I plug a device into the USB 3.0 ports the devices are not recognized. This ranges from flash drives to USB headsets. Rebooting the machine does not solve this. I have to shut down completely and cold boot to get the ports back up and running. It matters not if I use the front panel ports or the rear. All the while my keyboard and mouse which are in the rear USB 2.0 ports never fail to work.
I am going to plug the front panel into the USB 2.0 headers on the mainboard just to test and see if I get the same results, I'm thinking that should tell me weather or not the motherboard or the front panel is the culprit.
That aside any other suggestions would be very much appreciated.
One other thing and I am not sure if this is related to my issue... Most of the time when I boot the machine, the text for the POST messages are very large, like real zoomed in. If I go to the BIOS when this happens the BIOS is also way zoomed in and it is very slow/unresponsive. If I want to use the BIOS I have to restart the machine until I get the text normal looking, even then the BIOS seems kind of slow compared to my last MSI board (990FXA-GD80) which had this same type of click BIOS. This phenomena happened both with the BIOS the board came with and with the updated BIOS I installed to fix a sound issue.
Again not sure if that has anything to do with the USB thing but I wanted to put that here just in case the issues are related.

Should also ask if anyone you know around here in So. O.C. Can do the flash if needed

Flobelix, enough of this? Don't you dare speak to me like that! The fact your answers made no sense made me think there might be a language issue. It was not meant to be offensive. Nobody ever answered my other questions but keep saying contact MSI. I was looking for insight into the product not just a referral to MSI.  Either way, I have contacted MSI again. They have flashed the bios and it still does not work. So back to square one. Now I have a refurb mb that does not work and cannot be returned to the store where it was purchased.  Thanks for nothing.

  • No Sound from MSI X79A-GD45 Plus

I have the MSI X79A-GD45 Plus. I've uninstalled the Realtek drivers and reinstalled them from the Mother Drivers CD and also downloaded one from the MSI website.
Realtek Audio Manager shows speakers are plugged in and work but I hear no sound. I've tried working speakers and headphones.

can you tell your current BIOS version?

  • MSI ramdisk MSI-X79A-GD45 plus motherboard

    I have MSI-X79A-GD45 plus motherboard and i have 64GB of ddr3-1600mhz rams.
I want to boot windows 7 from ramdisk backup img using msi ramdisk. is it possible?
when the boot loader of windows loads the ramdisk?
I am designing a bootloader software for running windows on ramdisk.
    My strategy is
I install my bootloader/disk enumerator to ssd or usb flash drive. disk enumerator shows old hdd and ssd drives.
    i install 64bits w7 os on ssd
i install my usefull softwares to work(photoshop, maya etc)
i create a 36 GB sytem image file without compression. its name is readyos.vhd
i add an entry to my bootloader/disk enumerator when i power on my computer .
    bootloader> load readyos.vhd,ramdisk(0);
    boot;
it loads vhd image to ramdisk and sytem goes on.
when i restrart pc bootloader loads vhd and sytem runs but its frozen because i dont modify readyos.vhd file.
whats msi thinking about this idea?

You need to have WWindows running in order to use the RAMDisk application.  You cannot start the RAMDisk first.  You must start Windows first THEN load the RANDisk application.
AFAIK, it is not possible to do the opposite.

  • Msi x79a-gd45 plus and Dolby Digital Live

I bought a pair of Astro A50's to enjoy surround sound music and gaming. I have surround for music but with gaming you need Dolby Digital Live to get 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound with this headset. I have a msi x79a-gd45 plus, now does anyone know if DDL is compatible with my on-board sound card? Apparently you can download DDL for 5 dollars and I'd love to for the sake of surround gaming, but only if it actually works with my card.

Have you checked with the Realtek website for that application?

  • MSI X79A-GD45 PLUS advices for sli , thanks

Hello I need some advice :
    1) if i buy the MSI X79A-GD45 PLUS that has 3 pci-express can i populate the first and the third slot with graphic card in sli configuration in order to have better air circulation ? the slots are 16,16,8 but the third use the same bus of the second so i don't know if leaving the second solt empty the third will rise to 16x Can you give me some info Thanks
    2) If the option above is not possible than cards that uses 2,5 slots of space like the gainward phantom will have enough space in sli with the first and second slot populated ? thanks in advance

    In the website it says..
    • 3 PCI Express gen3 x16 slots
    - PCI_E1 & PCI_E4 support up to PCIE 3.0 x16 speed
    - PCI_E6 supports up to PCIE 3.0 x 8 speed
you could populate PCI_E1 and PCI_E6 also according to the manual..  it will be 16/8

  • MSI X79-GD45 & Corsair Quad Channel memory kit = big problems

    Hi
I have bought the Corsair 16GB Quad Channel kit (CML16GX3M4X1600C8)
    & a MSI X79 motherboard with the latest BIOS-version
When I try to enable Intel X.M.P, my computer keeps restarting
and doesn't even make it to the bios post.
Same thing happens if i try to set the ram to 1600mhz manually,
it just doesn't post & sets the ram to 1333mhz
Even bumping up the voltages to 1.6v doesn't help
I have tried everything, the ram works at 1333mhz but as soon
as i try to use the default settings this ram is rated at..
    It goes haywire..
Help would be much appreciated :(

can i find a beta-bios for my motherboard anywhere ?
Some UEFI/BIOS versions cover more than one mainboard model. I don't know if that is the case with your particular mainboard, or if it has it's own release series. Best answer is to contact MSI Tech Support and ask them for the latest.

A full CMOS clearing after a flash ensures no remnants of anything are left.

It worked until i powered off & on again
If you have available another brand of a stick of DDR3 to test with, recommend to try with it. Just place a single stick in the system in the primary dimm slot.

  • MSI X79MA-GD45 BIOS/boot problems.

Hi I've been having problems getting my board to boot consistently.
    System specs are:
    MB: MSI X79MA-GD45 (BIOS 3.1)
    CPU: Intel 3820 (C2 stepping)
RAM: 32GB (4x8GB) Kingston HyperX Beast 2400MHz (Running 1333MHz, auto)
    GPU: Zotac GTX 680 4GB
    PSU: Corsair 860i
Most times I have to clear CMOS before the system will boot.
Soft reboots are fine, however, if I change stuff that requires a proper reboot, fx enabling VT-x, the system will need a clear CMOS again before it will boot.
The error I get seems to be videocard related, 1 long 2 short beeps, however the videocard works fine in my old system.
I can usually get the system to behave for a little while by reflashing BIOS.
After clearing CMOS the system boots EVERY time and runs flawless.
PS prior to BIOS 3.1 multiplier 43x (and 44x, partially) were working, now it seems to max out at 42 (regardless of BIOS setting) but this isnt really an issue as much as the system instability at stock settings.
edit: corrected BIOS error beep typo

In combination with an i7-3820 the new Win8 bios versions for all X79 boards seem to be troublesome (that's also the reason for the multi limit).
Downgrade to the prior version (1.7) with the attached archive and retry.
For flashing >>use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< and with it point to the attached and NOT unpacked bios archive (Mode 1: Point to archive).

I just installed MSI TV anywhere plus card, location Canada NTSC-M to copy VHS tapes and burn onto DVD's. I can see and hear the VHS tape running on the computer now, but when I click 'capture' I get 'internal encoder error' and then the program gets hung up and I can't do anything. My error report is szappname - MSITVR.exe, szappver - 2.0.2.2, szmodname - hungapp, szmodver offset - all zeros. Please help!

Did some more checking.  I go from vcr to computer on the rca cables, then I use composite with yuy2 input and avi capture. The program still gets hung up and anything that I capture I am unable to open with either the TV plus program or Windows Media. If I try to capture in mpeg format I get the internal encoder error. Either way as soon as I hit capture, I can see it's recording and its saving data but the program freezes. I can hit 'stop' but its completely hung up.
I have the latest drivers downloaded for TV plus. Got any ideas??

  • MSI P965 Neo-F reboot problems

    Hi,
I have a MSI P965 Neo-F motherboard in my PC, everything works great except for one thing, rebooting.
When i reboot or reset, it shuts down the operating system/BIOS, after that the PC stays on but my screen stays black.
    Does anyone know a solution?
    Thank you,

    Samsung SH-S182D
    2x Western Digital Caviar SE 250GB 8MB

    I dont know solution ...
i see the problem in mobo or revision of P965 itself ... there is many problems with restarts, reboots, first boot. It depend on version of BIOS you have, but i not found any version which solve this for me ...
i using v1.9 now ... and i have problem with boot after hybernation with vista..
after turning my computer off (in vista is normal to hybernate and shut down) i can boot my computer .. by its very strange. So, power comes up, but then instantly comes Windows Vista with logon screen - NO posting by BIOS, no RAID initial screen, no scaning for hardware... it comes instantly to windows - but windows are in some inconsistent state and i cant login (freeze/BSOD ... but pointer can be moved by mouse and login button shows efect if i move pointer over - so windows are in memory and working) ... in this state is HDD led all time ON (shining) ... i can shut down and boot up again and everything is OK (windows are normaly restored from disk)
with older v1.5 BIOS ... my computer goes to same state like is described here - BLANK ... and BIOS setting was reseted
so and here is one similiar problem
