  • Won't detect full memory clock speed on DiMM 3-4

Hey guyz... got a little bit of a strange situation with my MSI K8N-F PCB 1.0 systemboard hope you can share you're knowledge on this...
I got a 2x256MB VR Kingston DDR400 Single sided ram that I installed on DiMM 1-2 and was able to read the memory clock around 200Mhz, but when I transfered the two memories on DiMM 3-4 it only reads them 185Mhz on the BIOS and which confuses me. when I checked the manual it doesn't suppose to lessen the clock speed total to 333Mhz but still should come up to 400Mhz can anyone help me with this?!?! appreciate the feedback....

try reseting the BIOS by taking out the battery for 10 minutes. try running it again at optimized defaults (that means no overclocking) in slots 3&4.

According to the manual, error code 67 is "Late CPU Initialization"
What is the serial number of your motherboard? What CPU are you using with it?

  • MSI GTX Memory Clock Reporting

Why does Afterburner show the Memory clock @ 3005, and Kombuster show it @ 3004,
on my new MSI Gaming N760 TF 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 760 2GB?
Since it has GDDR5 memory, shouldn't it show the expected 6008MHz ?
    Or am I misunderstanding?
    Thnx

    Thanks for the response.
Everything I've read states that the effective memory clock for GDDR5 is 4x the memory clock speed.
    The GTX 760 memory clock speed is listed as 1502 MHz, thus the effective 6008 MHz ( 1502 x 4 = 6008 )
So again, why does Afterburner show the memory clock at 3005, and Kombustor at 3004 ?
    Thnx.

  • MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC memory clock?

I have had an MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC for about 6 months now and have used MSI Afterburner to monitor temps etc. Today I used it to lower my overclocking as others had said Ghost Recon Future Soldier doesn't crash if you take it off.
If you look at the MSI product page for the card (the forum won't let me post a link to it!?) you can see the Memory Clock Speed(MHz) says 4000 yet in Afterburner mine said 2000Mhz and the slider was in the middle. I am pretty sure there is no multiplier at work here so mine wasn't being overclocked?
Any ideas? I have reduced it down to 1800Mhz and GRFS doesn't crash anymore but can I take it up to 4000Mhz safely in future? I do not want to overload the card.

you have multiply the memory value x2 to get the effective speed

  • MSI ATI RADEON PMD1G-OC Edition Not Reading Right Memory Clock??RMA?

Hello Guys, New to the forum been looking everywhere trying to find a solution i believe i know my solution that the memory on the card is bad or it has a wrong bios but i bought this card a week ago and it states on the newegg website for this card and the msi website that the memory clock speed of this card should be running @ 1010 mhz or 4040 mhz (gddr5 so its x4 i get that),But the problem im having is its only reading @ 950mhz under Ati OVERDRIVE and Afterburner or anything for that matter cpu-z,gpu-z etc.. and if i even try to Overclock it to anything past 960mhz it freezes and wont even pass a benchmark test locking my whole pc and forcing restart wont even pass even if i leave it at default speeds but plays games perfectly fine at default... now the core clock is Factory OC'ed @ 800mhz thats right and fine but what im asking here i guess is should i RMA this Card back to newegg or am i overlooking something core clock is factory oc'ed @800mhz and Memory Effective Clock is Supposed to be Oc'ed to 1010mhz but is  @ 950mhz..Please help Thanks In Advance!!!

Reset my cmos on the mobo to make my onboard video primary used the onboard video card to reflash the bios on the hd5670 to its original that i had saved before flashing to the new vbios then went back into mobo bios changed the primary to my hd5670 and it worked..still havent got the memory clocks right but at least i have my card operational again to rma.
This is the 1MB ddr5 hd 5670 card right?  Is it a low profile card with the 2 small fans?  I can't seem to find out, but you have the card in front of you.

  • MSI 6600GT AGP standard clock speeds?

Ok, I got coolbits installed. Opening the tab for the first time, The "no overclocking" button is selected,  2D is selected along with core clock set at 300 and memory clock at 900. I DO NOT have the "apply these settings at startup" selected yet.
I cannot find anywhere in the owners manual what the standard core and memory clock settings are supposed to be for thing. Can anyone tell me?

Quote from: Trailryder on 14-February-05, 01:32:15
    Thanks Richard, I'll try those.
Ok, just a sec, the core is 500. The ram on it is DDR. When you say 1000 for the ram clock speed that means I actually set the clock speed to 500, right? Setting it to 1000, because of DDR, would actually make the speed 2000. Is this right? Or does the actual setting slider not take into account the DDR(2x)?
You set the number to 2 times the memory clock speed. If you bring down the menu to 3D, it should be 900Mhz which is the default for the MSI. If you were to overclock it you would set it to 1Ghz, which is 100Mhz higher. The MSI card should be able to handle that with no problems. The memory is rated for 1Ghz. Once your start going over 1Ghz your starting to really overclock the memory. Most of the MSI cards should be able to do at least 1.1Ghz.
I have had two MSI 6600GT cards. The first card could do 1.17 on the memory stable. The second card can do only around 1.14.

  • An OC Newbie Try to Break the World Record by Using MSI X99S XPOWER AC

Saw an article on MSI forum and thought it’s quite interested, so here I translate it. Don’t really have the time to translate it word by word, so go check here for the original article if you are interested (but you need to speak Chinese, lol…..).
    link: forum-tc.msi.com/index.php?topic=113081.0
Long story short, a newbie got inspired by MSI MOA 2014
and started to dig in the OC world. After checking all the rules, he decided to try it on his own. Here’s the gear he used:
    CPU: Intel i7-5960X 3.0G (8C16T)
    RAM: HyperX Predator DDR4-3000 16GB Kit (4x4GB) CL15
    MB: MSI X99S XPOWER AC
    VGA: MSI GTX980 GAMING 4G x4
    SSD: Plextor M6 Pro 256GB
    Power: Cooler Master M2 1500W x2
    CPU Cooler: SilverStone TD03
    OS: Win 7 64bit SP1
    MB
Easy button design and 3 sets of v-check point made it more user friendly for Ocer
Special extreme OC kit (contain with thumb drive, OC fan stand, Delid Die Guard and OC Backplate. Personally think it’s 4 handy tools especially for Ocer)
    VGA
Here’s the pic. after assembling all the gear together
This newbie is using air cooling VGA & RAM + water cooling CPU to run 4 way SLI, below is the static under normal usage without OC.
    3DMARK - FIRE STRIKE Extreme
    3DMARK - FIRE STRIKE ULTRA
Then, he try to use OC Genie buttom push the CPU to Gear 2, CPU 3.7G, RAM 2400, below is the static under this circumstances.
    3DMARK - FIRE STRIKE ULTRA
He did mention that overheating would be a major problem of 4 way SLI, water cooling should be a better solution instead of air cooling.
Anyways, after few times of trial, here comes the best combination he can get.
    CPU
    CPU Frequency: 4.6GHz
    DRAM Frequency: 3,200MHz
    VGA
    GPU Frequency: 1,390MHz
    DRAM Frequency: 1,803MHz
    3DMARK - FIRE STRIKE Extreme
    3DMARK - FIRE STRIKE ULTRA
He upload this onto the HWBOT and found that he ranks 29th place on Fire Strike Extreme and 6th place on Fire Strike Ultra. Looks good!
    Link: hwbot.org/submission/2690492_ocbot_3dmark___fire_strike_extreme_4x_geforce_gtx_980_19149_marks
    link: hwbot.org/submission/2690575_ocbot_3dmark___fire_strike_ultra_4x_geforce_gtx_980_11338_marks
To better show you the effect of using 4 VGA instead of 1, he used Assassin’s Creed Unity and did some comparison as below.
Single MSI GTX980 GAMING 4G: FPS will between 3X-4X, 50 at some points.
If using MSI GTX980 GAMING 4G * 4 without OC, FPS will between 50 – 70, same as what we heard, the improvement is not as much as we thought.
But when it’s under the loading process, it shows 7XX FPS
All in all, here’s his conclusion:
Under OC mode, MSI XPOWER AC’s stability does meet his expectation, and he’s satisfied with the extreme OC kit. “Memory Try It!” function in BIOS make it easier to adjust.
Oh well, it seems like it’s a good product to be expect!

Personally think it's quite impressive for a newbie to get such a great score.
And sure he choose a great product to start with!

  • MSI X99 SLI PLUS Memory Issue

    Guys,
When I try to do Quad Channel DDR4, the system will not post. Currently, I have an 8GB Sticks in Slot 1, 3, 5. When I place a stick into slot 7, the system won't post. If I remove one from 3 or 1, it will post. Currently able to use 24GB/32GB. I opened a support case and they told me to re-seat my CPU and check my power supply... not impressed. I see BIOS .162 floating around the forum not sure if that would help.
Also to note, I have moved the DIMMs around to different sockets, I had one that showed up in socket 3 as 4GB, swapped socket 5 and 3, both now show 8GB.

It's on the compatibility list, may not be compatibility problem...
    http://www.msi.com/support/mb/X99S-SLI-PLUS.html#support-mem
Try clear CMOS, if it still have problem...
You can also try to flash to BIOS 1.62 to see if help or not.
Are you able to try on another motherboard, or borrow another DDR4 to test if defect mem-slots?
I have taken the following steps:
    1. Upgrade BIOS to 1.5
    2. Reset BIOS to Default State
    3. Reset CMOS
    4. Moved the DIMMs to different slots, including the one I cannot place in the system since it won't post with a 4th DIMM.
As noted, for some time, I was not able to get more than 20GB to show up in the BIOS, only after re-seating and moving DIMMs around was it finally able to see 3 x 8GB sticks. Are you able to give me the errata for the 162 BIOS as well as the "Fix/Change" list I'm all for giving it a shot, just want to know what I'm getting into.

  • MSI X99 AC Power Motherboard 8pin+4pin CPU Power?

Hello, I just opened my msi x99 ac and I see it has an 8pin and 4pin cpu power near the top, now that is like what my asus extreme 1150 had, however I only have 2 8pins from my 1200w corsair ax. However right next to the 4pin is a little something, so the 8pin wont work because there is no place for the extra 4pins to hang down. How did you guys wire this up? Because before I just use 2 8pins and the 4 extra pins hanged down the side, but it wont work with this mobo
    Thanks

As far as I can guess, 4 pin is for OC. How do you connect it? I don't know. But I think it will work fine without this 4 pin.
    Check the manual

  • No USB power from MSI X99S Plus and no Vision from GPU.

    Dear Forum,
I have build a new PC with a MSI x99S plus motherboard but when I start it up the fans start turning but I get no vision and even weirder there is no power coming out of the usb ports. I have checked every connection, I disconnected everything that was not nessesary and even tried to start up without harddrives connected. Still only the fans start turning and some leds light up but no vision and still no power to the USB ports
I have used the following components:
    MSI x99S plus motherboard
MSI 3G gaming GTX 780 GPU
    Seasonic G650 PSU (650 watt)
Corsair Venguance LPX DDR4 4GBx4 ram
Corsair H105 Hydro Series CPU cooler
    Intel I7-5820K CPU
128 GB samsung SSD (for booting)
    2 TB WD Hard drive
    WD DVD Drive
Ill hope someone regonises the problem.

No I had not tried to boot it with one memory stick and well it starts up now! Many Thanks! Do you have any idea what would cause the PC not to boot with 4 ram sticks in them? What I am gonna do now is boot it with one memory stick more at the time too see if one is broken.
    Many thanks!!
    I am happy now
    can be many things:
     * defective memory stick
     * defective memory slot
     * incorrect memory parameters: too high memory freq., too tight timings, too low voltage, too tight command rate to handle 4 large memory stick
     * not fully compatible memory sticks with current BIOS version
     * could be bent-ed pins(s) on the CPU/mobo

  • MSI X99 SLI Plus - Won't Post

    I've got:
    Motherboard: MSI X99 SLI Plus
    Processor: Intel Core i7-5820K
    Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-2400
Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX
It's a new build and I can't get it to post. When I try to turn it on, a red LED located next to the 24 pin ATX power connector comes on and will not go off until I cut the power at the Power Supply. I can't find anything online concerning the red LED. Is it some overvoltage protection? An issue with the memory? I'm at a loss trying to diagnose this. Please see the images below:

    Hello.
I'm having the exact same issue.
My computer was running with no issues for over 1 month and today when i tried to start it this exact issue happened.
The lights on the rest of the motherboard are working (CMOS, Power, OC Genie) but it won't post.
I have tried to reset the CMOS, re-seated and tried various configurations for the RAM, tried both BIOS and OC Genie on and off and the issue remains.
Could this be a PSU issue? If so, would the remaining lights work?
Anyone else had this issue and how did you fix it?
    Thank you in advance!
