MSI XPower OC Genie - Base Clock Error!!

Every time I open CommandCenter I get this Base Clock Error!! Message...
I just used OC Genie (2nd level - RED), and it looks like it can't OC my CPU but still uses the XMP of my RAM, so what gives?
Anyone?

I had a similar result with IBT.  It scared the crap out of me.  I think I hit 98c on one core  I couldn't hit the stop button fast enough.
I know what you mean. Seeing 90C or more does make one give a double take.     I am sure if I would have used IBT at 50X, the CPU would be screaming for life and shutdown to save itself.
Another anomaly I can't explain is when running real world apps and programs for further stability testing at both 47X and at 50X, none of the CPU cores went over 64C at either speed! I can only come to a conclusion concerning this that these CPU's or this platform is really smart and only uses what it needs to do the job asked of it.
Another feature of this platform that I 'really' like is the power saving is still intact even when the CPU V. is taken out of Auto.
I probably better leave the thread as I don't really have the exact same board or components as you and the OP have. My results and experiences with this platform may not be typical or apply to yours for comparison. I will add that as long as the CPU IMC can handle it, the Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM has been outstanding! RAM speed of 2666 @ 50X is not too shabby, but again, all depends on the CPU IMC.

  • MOVED: Base Clock Error Occured + Shut down every 30 minutes

This topic has been moved to Intel Core-iX boards.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=173484.0

I had my motherboard checked by the technicians nearby and found out that my motherboard is a victim of static.  Good thing it is still within warranty so they decided to replace it.  I have been running my rig for two weeks now and so far neither regular shutdowns nor Base Clock errors were encountered.
My BIOS is still 1.5 and so far I don't have any issues with it.
But just to answer xmad's question:
Is the Ram installed into the 2nd and last DIMM from the CPU?
Yes, i had this one checked and rechecked
What are the temps during a stress test?
i forgot.. but it was below 90C
Does the Behavior still occur with a single stick of ram installed into DIMM 2?
       yea, unfortunately

Hi tancheeru, & welcome to the forum. As this is an OC question, the mods will probably move it to the OC & Modders Section of the forum. Please provide a signature with your systems components. It is difficult to make suggestions without it. In most cases I have experienced, base clock at 166 or 167 will most of the time work on default voltage. However, RAM must be adjusted to compensate for it's increase in speed as base clock is increased. This may involve the Mem. Ratio, Uncore Ratio, timings, & DRAM V.

Default Base clock for this board is 134. How much can i go still consider as safe OC?

Just curious. Was this a self purchased off the shelf retail mainboard & VGA's? What was the 'as shipped' UEFI/BIOS version? My BB X II LE arrived DOA, & no green stickers on the BIOS chips to determine the version installed, although, a 3930k C1 should be supported from the original release. A 3820 needs v1.2 installed to be fully supported.

  • X121e randomly wake up from suspended status and real time clock error

    Hi all
Previously I considered my x121e suffer from overheating issue and causes real time clock error (RTC). However, after more testing and investigation, I believe the problem is related to other hardware issues and I like to hear people opinion before sending the laptop back to Lenovo.
The machine goes into suspend status either pressing the power button or closing the lid from Windows7 (clean install) without problem. However, it would wake up itself randomly, "beep" twice and screen shows RTC and CMOS checksum error. This happen more often when I am holding the machine (i.e. some movement/vibration). I wonder:
    - Is it the RTC battery problem, cause the RTC to wake up the machine?
    - Other hardware failure?
The laptop has a clean OS installed/recovered. Latest 1.16 Bios installed. No USB or memory card attached. Ram replaced and not the cause.
    Please advise
    Howard

    Hello,
I am unsure; you would have to contact Lenovo directly and find out how they handle this situation.  They may want the ThinkPad X121e back so they can run thorough diagnostics on it, just in case the problem is something else.  That way it gets fixed the first time.

  • Error: 0271: Real Time Clock Error - Check Date and Time settings.

    Hello all,
I have lenovo T430s laptop that is configured with Bitlocker encruptions and TPM PIN entry. I don't think that has anything to do with the error msg I am getting but here it is. Error: 0271: Real Time Clock Error - Check Date and Time settings.
Press Esc to continue or F1 to enter setup. I am unable to get into BIOS or even the login screen for Windows 7.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks to everyone for the help.  Just want to close this out.  I had a IBM/Lenovo technician here today and he replaced the CMOS battery.  Upon the change, the computer is fine being reconnected to the dock (the three times I tried it).  So it has been resolved with the battery.  Surprised by the incompatibility claim because I am not having issues now.  Wondering if it's just a USB 2.0 vs. 3.0 thing (and Lenovo trying to sell more peripherals, of course).
    Thanks!

  • Hardware Clocking Error PCI-5122

I tried to run the vi attached (which i've run many times before) and my computer bluescreen.  When it rebooted, I could no longer use my PCI-5122 digitizer card.  When I try to do a device test or device reset in MAX, it tells me that theres a hardware clocking error..   I was using an external trigger for the aquisition, but don't think I was using an external reference clock.  Could someone help me fix this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
This error may be the result of a hardware failure where the only
solution is a repair or replacement. There are however, some basic
troubleshooting steps that have been known to correct this issue
    without a return.
Reboot the PC or PXI controller.
Try a different PCI or PXI slot.
Update the driver to the latest version.
If possible try the card on a different machine.
If these steps to not correct the issue then it is likely the
board requires repair which can be arranged by contacting National
    Instruments Technical support (in france: 01 57 66 24 24).

  • Should I raise the base clock or the multiplier?

    I have Intel Core i7 875k
I can reach 4.2Ghz by either raising the multipliers or by raising the base clock
I do prefer to just raise the multiplier since the rest of my system doesn't runs under any extra stress
    However, today I read:
We also prefer to use the Base Clock rather than the CPU multiplier when overclocking CPUs. Increasing the Base Clock increases the amount of bandwidth between the CPU and the rest of the system, yielding greater performance for the same overall CPU frequency.
    Is that true?
and if it's true, is there a big or a small difference?
I am not sure how big of a difference it will make to run a CPU at 4.2Ghz by either using multipliers or base clock

I run Prime95 and Adobe Premiere CS5 to test stability
With Adobe Premiere CS5 I can have a good idea of how fast the CPU is
Can you tell me which is the best software to test the CPU speed?
I'd like to see some numbers, then I'll get a better idea of what I'm doing

  • 5th Gen iPod Sync Error -48.  Please help.

I get a 5th Gen iPod Sync Error -48 on my iPod.. I get this both on my laptop and my desktop computer. I do not automatically put music on my iPod but when I try to add or delete things it does not keep the change after I disconnect.
I cannot restore my iPod as most files I am not able to recover.
I am running XP and both are COMPAQ.

  • Eclipse SLI: Can't change Base Clock in Bios

Not sure why, but in the Cell Menu in the Bios (v. 1.6) the Base Clock can't be changed - hitting Enter when it's highlighted does nothing.  It's not greyed out, just doesn't change.
I looked in the manual and it shows a setting for D.O.T. Control right above the Base Clock setting.  But my Bios doesn't have that listed.   :(
    Any help?

Have you tried the +/- keys (on your keyboard's numpad) or the page-up/page-down keys by any chance...?
    Duh...that worked.  Thanks!
Although maybe I'm too stoopid to overclock.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
